Should starter pokemon be evolved?

In your opinion, should the starter pokemon evolve? And this is for the GBA versions of the game. Should Bulbsaur evolve into Venusaur? Or should we let our beloved starter pokemon stay the same? I think that the starters should evolve into it's second evolution stage and then don't evolve it anymore.

Trainer Kat February 14th, 2008 2:51 PM

I think they should evolve. Unevolved Pokemon aren't as strong as those who have reached their full potential.
And if that seems heartless, well...maybe. But I always get really excited when my Pokemon evolve, especially if I don't know what they evolve into!

...Plus some second stages are lame. -_- I can't stand Prinplup.

I dont agree there. The whole point, i think, of STARTER pokémon are that they are there at the START of the adventure. Then, afterwards, when they evolve, by that time, your into the game, but only just starting the 'intermediate' part. And if this 2nd form was the final form, itd be abit boring having the same Pokémon for like, 7, or even 8, gym badges. I think its good the starters all evolve twice.

Yoshiko75 February 14th, 2008 3:02 PM

I think the starter Pokémon should evolve. Evolution is a sign of growth and knowledge. It is a great accomplishment for a Pokémon to reach that point in its journey in life.

Sekushi Sushi* February 14th, 2008 5:24 PM

No, they shouldnt. Absolutly not! JK, they should if your playing to win.

BREAKINGBEN February 14th, 2008 5:59 PM

It all depends on the Pokemon. I don't mind if my Cyndaquil evolves into a Typhlosion(heck, I'd even take Quilava) but when it comes down to Pokemon like Torchic, I WANT that 3rd stage. I just can't stand some 2nd stage Pokemon (Ivysaur, I'm looking at you).

I agree. I don't really care whther or not charmander or bulabsaur evolve, but when it comes to torchic, cyndaquil, squirtle, or piplup become involved, evolution is the key. Particularly typhlosion, who will pwn everything in sight. (i'm a hardcore typhlosion lover, incase you can't tell. almost as much as latias XD)

I think they should evolve but sometimes it's a good idea to wait to get certain moves that you want.

What's bad of your pokemon evolves..?? well at some times it's very nice to have your cutie pokemon as same as it looks.. but when it evolves.. in the game..and when you beat all the gym leaders and all.. you suddenly look back to all those days hardowr.. and remember you getting your pokemon and it's evolving and maturing.. it's a great sight.. so i think they should evolve after all.. one love's it's pokemon right..?? so you wouldn't care how it looks after evolution.. well this's my opinion

~~Voila

Some Pokemon, if they don't evolve, don't get some moves.
Charmeleon won't get Wing Attack, but it also won't get that nice double weakness to Rock...
And I think starters are already fine. They should evolve twice.
Of course, some evolved Pokemon are ugly, but then.....
Just cope with it.

Sea_Guardian February 15th, 2008 2:30 AM

Well I prefer evolves since Pokemon are stronger when they evolve.

They are not always stronger when they evolve b/c the first evo gets the last evo's moves at lower levels =]]

DMNT February 16th, 2008 10:30 PM

I definitely prefer that all starters evolve.

\\Ceiran// February 17th, 2008 12:36 PM

personally i stick with what i like rather than evolve just so its stronger...

Dave-o-rama February 18th, 2008 5:43 AM

i think they should all evolve. i cant stand most 2nd stage starters. and if you evolve you starter, maybe it gives you something to shoot for when you're playing the game.

UberSushi February 18th, 2008 6:00 AM

No, if your Pokemon was evolved you would never get to see the first stage of your Pokemon, which would make it impossible to complete the Pokedex. It would also make the game too easy to beat.

Saiste February 18th, 2008 7:54 AM

I think you should allow the starters to evolve, and to do it all the way, not just to the second stage. Sometimes pokemon can get certain moves only if they're evolved, and I personally think it shows an accomplishment and the pokemons' growth.

TrainerNick February 18th, 2008 12:50 PM

YESSS !!!

Why would you have a Lv. 36 Charmander if you could have a Charizard !!!

sgtJARHEAD February 18th, 2008 6:33 PM

Why wouldn't they? It's a game. The point of it is to win...And to win you need them to evolve...It's not something you find a moral or any of that bullcrap.

BREAKINGBEN February 18th, 2008 6:39 PM

The moral of the story is: No matter how many times you evolve it or train it, Meganium still sucks @$$.... period.

DarkSpace February 18th, 2008 6:52 PM

It's like asking would yu rather have a totodile or a feraligator

Supreme Dirt February 19th, 2008 5:34 AM

I once kept my Bulbasaur a Bulbasaur. Owned the Elite Four with a Level 74 Bulbasaur.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!
So no. I don't. Unless it's a Shiny Charmander.

Forgiven February 19th, 2008 5:59 AM

it depends on what pokemon you like i keeped my piplup as a piplup now i Own poeple with a lvl 98 piplup

pokemontrainer_samuel February 22nd, 2008 12:38 AM

Well I won't evolve my starter until much later if its a Mudkip. if I'm not wrong, Mudkip learns Hydro Pump at level 45. My game file was deleted so I can't refer to my Mudkip. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Dave-o-rama February 22nd, 2008 3:48 AM

i didnt evolve my piplup until lv 52 because I thought prinplup and empoleon were ugly and i didnt realize how much better he could be.

My little sister has never evolved her starters at all. Fully evolved them, anyway.
