Question about Soft Resetting.

I'm in front of Cresselia right now, and I'd like to soft reset to get a shiny one. My question is... when soft resetting, will the picture of Cresselia that shows up before it flees, show a picture of a shiny Cresselia? Or normal?

Ace King February 14th, 2008 5:25 PM

What is soft resetting? I could help you.

Sekushi Sushi* February 14th, 2008 5:27 PM

No, it is normal, you have to talk to it and see in battle. And soft resetting is pressin select, start and L + R at the same time.

Ace King February 14th, 2008 5:34 PM

So soft resetting is normal resetting?

Umanouski February 14th, 2008 5:38 PM

no. A total reset is powering on and off the device

I read from Yahoo Answers that you'll see it from the picture...

So now its resseting the game without turning it off?

I'm pretty sure it just shows you the normal sprite image at all times and only when you encounter it in battle will you be able to see if it's shiny or not. But it will be set once it runs whether it is or not shiny.

Yes. A Soft Reset takes you back to the opening credits part of the game instead of returning to the DS's menu. The game stays running.

If I'm not mistaken I think the legendaires/wandering Pokemon are extremely hard to get a shiny version of because it's programmed into the game when you start...has anyone else heard that?

No, all Pokemon have an equal chance of being shiny.

STAY ON TOPIC D<

I still haven't gotten my answer confirmed. I don't want to soft reset all day in front of the Cresselia just looking at the picture to see if it's shiny or not, if it will only turn out that it won't be.

Crystal Shaymin February 15th, 2008 4:45 AM

u have to battle cressila to see if its shiny. the picture will always show the normal image, and u must battle it to see it shiny
ex: talk to cressila, find it, battle it, if its not shiny when u battle, reset the game and talk to it again, and do that process until u find it shiny

well whoever said that is wrong x100, you can only tell if a pokemon is shiny by actually batteling it.

Manaphy Master February 15th, 2008 5:26 AM

I wouldn't reset Cresselia for shiny, because if you have no luck you have to reset over 8000 times...

You're right too, cause my childhood friend had caught a shiny Cresselia in her Pearl, She told me that when she talked to Cresselia, the color was showing the normal one, but when she encountered it, the 'real form' revealed - a shiny Cresselia!!

Ace King February 15th, 2008 11:56 AM

I'd just take it. no way could you get a shiny legendary!!

Gymnotide February 15th, 2008 2:59 PM

You would have to reset before talking to Cresselia on the island,
then find it, engage it, and then if it is shiny, then it will always be
shiny each time you engage it.

Eisaku February 15th, 2008 8:10 PM

Yeah, like Shalashaska and Kagami said (LOL) :P You only see it shiny after you encounter it in battle. The pic would always be normal pokemon "mode" and if you have luck in finding the shiny Cresselia it'll still be a normal pick.
But yeah, just save in front of the Cresselia and talk to it so you can see the pic and then engage it in battle, without saving along the way NO MATTER WHAT, and then doing a soft reset (about 8000 like Manaphy Master said... hopefully less if your lucky) and keep doing it over until you get one.

Darkrayz February 16th, 2008 1:27 AM

i like the soft reseting. it saves a lot of time than turning off then on.

why waste your time trying to get a shiny Legendary if you do get it which will take forever it can have a horrible nature. I say you should only soft reset when your legendary has a horrible nature

A He turned into a She? >.>

Btw, isn't cresselia a roaming pokemon? That means every time you encounter has the same chance of being shiny...

Roaming yes, but the shiny chances are set once you talk to it and then it runs off. It's a bit different in this case.

Because the Pokemon you're seeing remains the same, the chances of it being shiny is already set. This actually partially goes for roaming Pokemon in the older games as well as once you see it in battle, the state is set.
