Say what!? The new guy is an artist!?!!

In honor of my joining PC, I've gone ahead and worked a quick lil Charmander up. Looks ready to fight!

Check it out!

Philman February 15th, 2008 1:15 PM

very nice! I like the style in which you drew Charmander! I am eager to see more of your work, Amp!

Hey, did you also do that Charizard on your avatar?

Amp February 15th, 2008 1:18 PM

Naw, that's just one of the board defaults...I'm gonna change it as soon as I figure out what I want there.

How about another one!

Ooh wow! Onix looks really nice! I like the 'condensed' style of it. It's very Mato-like. Man, I wish I could ink. I'm SO terrible at it... gaaah!

Wow nice job. Your great. Better then me for sure.

Wow, your pics look really good. It's cool how the thickness of the lines differ. I like them and hope to see more.

Those pictures are awesome

Very nice! Clear, thick black lines, decent, simple shading, good form...though the left hand on the man in the group picture with the Chikorita seems a bit too small. Minor complaint. I don't know much about perspective. But, about the outlines...how did you make them? I got a tablet a few days ago, and I can't figure out how to make such clean-cut solid lines like that.

Photoshop. Make sure your brush tablet settings are only set for 'size' and not 'opacity' or things like that. Then, just take a black brush at 100% hardness and get to it. Keep your lines loose, and remember that the eraser is your friend.

Your lineart is pretty adequate (aside from suffering the common case of anime disease), but your coloring jobs are what's problematic. They seem like they were merely an afterthought. They're too blurry and just look sort of just thrown on there. I advise you to work more on your understanding of lighting and volumes. You've got a tablet, now put it to use. Just put more effort into it. For example:

Dude, I'm all for criticism, and you had some good stuff to say.

But taking someone's art and painting all over it wihhout permission? That's not kosher.

Allstories February 25th, 2008 5:14 PM

What? It's not like I'm claiming it as my own or something. I'm just trying to help you out by giving you criticism with a visual aid. I'm sorry if you're not down with that, but I just thought it'd help get the point across better.
