Rain Team

I plan on going on WiFi with this for all purposes possible, so it needs to be strong.

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock; Rain Dish
Calm; 204 HP, 120 Special Defense, 104 Speed, 80 Special Attack
Surf
Ice Beam
Leech Seed
Rain Dance

My leader, who proves annoying with Rain Dish and Leech Seed, especially so considering the Damp Rock.

Jolteon @ Leftovers; Volt Absorb
Timid; 4 HP, 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack
Thunder
Hidden Power
Agility
Baton Pass

Thunder takes advantage of the rain, Hidden Power will be Grass to take care of pesky Ground Pokémon, and the Agility and Baton Pass combination grants Speed to whomever may need it, such as Kingdra.

Kabutops @ Life Orb; Swift Swim
Adamant; 32 HP, 252 Attack, 120 Speed, 104 Defense
Stone Edge
Waterfall
X-Scissor
Rain Dance

My favorite physical sweeper, even more so than Swampert. This is a Pokémon I've wanted to use for a very long time.

Kingdra @ Life Orb; Swift Swim
Naughty; 252 Special Attack, 16 Speed, 240 Attack
Waterfall
Dragon Pulse
Hidden Power
Rain Dance

A special Sniper, for use with Jolteon. No, I won't get rid of the Scope Lens. Hidden Power is Electric here.

Blissey @ Leftovers; Natural Cure
Bold; 252 Defense, 100 Special Attack, 156 HP
Seismic Toss
Water Pulse
Aromatherapy
Softboiled

I'm using Water Pulse over Ice Beam here to take advantage of the rain, and Water Pulse has a better chance of a side effect. I prefer the Pokémon damaging itself over not being able to move.

Cresselia @ Leftovers; Levitate
Bold; 144 Defense, 112 Special Defense, 252 HP
Charge Beam
Ice Beam
Sleep Talk
Rest

A prototype physical wall and status absorber. I'm willing to consider some other Pokémon here, but I'm not sure what Pokémon both works well in rain and can be a physical wall at the same time.

Team is too reliant on Rain Dance (even for a Rain Dance team) and all the pokemon cover the same things. Seriously stuff like Magnezone are going to be a pain.

Okay. Any ideas on how I fix that?

Anti February 21st, 2008 1:08 PM

Well you need a physical wall.

Also it should be pretty obvious...get something that doesn't rely on the rain.

"Something that doesn't rely on the rain" is a little too generic. I was hoping you had a specific suggestion. The physical wall would be an example of that.

Um you're supposed to make the team, not me. But if you insist...

Anything that doesn't rely on the rain that fits into your team. that shouldn't be tough.

As for a physical wall Donphan is probably your best bet.

Right, sorry...Donphan could work. I could switch it in against a predicted Thunder, in case Jolteon's already KO'd or I need an Earthquake. Would this work?

Donphan @ Leftovers; Sturdy
Impish; 4 Attack, 252 Defense, 252 HP
Earthquake
Ice Shard
Knock Off
Rapid Spin

Also, I thought of using this before I saw your post.

Bronzong @ Leftovers; Levitate
Relaxed; 252 HP, 96 Defense, 8 Special Defense, 152 Attack
Gyro Ball
Earthquake
Hypnosis
Stealth Rock

No matter how many Attack EVs you have, you are only going to do damage to the fragile opponents. Might as well bulk him up a bit

Anti February 21st, 2008 1:45 PM

Um Bronzong's EVs are really messed up but yeah, it's fine. also Donphan has no business with Jolteon, HP Ice/Grass = gg Donphan.

Angelic Diablo February 21st, 2008 1:47 PM

Anti, he means with his Jolteon, ie same team

Man I'm having trouble today >.>

Also luck-reliant sets like focus energy Kingdra shouldn't be used.

Unlimited NiGHTS February 21st, 2008 2:16 PM

I'm going to keep the Kingdra the same, since it's the main reason why I'm using Jolteon anyway.

Okay, I'll edit the team in a moment. Which is better, though: Donphan or Bronzong?

Um that's too broad of a question to answer.

Also Jolteon is an overrated passer just to point that out. you won't be able to pull off many passes and by then that rain you so heavily rely on will be gone.

Again relying on luck is a terrible idea since it rarely comes through for you.

That may be, but I like luck sets.

Who would I use, if not Jolteon?

I mean for this team, which is better?

Vaporeon passes subs with more HP and gets boosted Surf in Rain.

Vaporeon @ leftovers
Bold
252hp/ 148def/ 108spdef or spatk cant remember
-Surf
-Wish
-Substitute
-Baton pass

Well its not really lucky, 1/3 chance to crit, pretty good odds, but still relies on chance, although its actually a pretty nasty set, id run Hydro pump >> surf, if you get a crit with that it has the chance to ohko standard Blissey i believe and passing agility works wonders with it.

Anti February 21st, 2008 3:10 PM

I'm telling you I have a few logs of what happens when you rely on luck, only in the form of flinch hax Togekiss (which has a much better chance or working :0)

Jolteon will get PHazed and if you manage to pull off the pass, Blissey will destroy you and Water Absorbers will also play mind games and make it really diffcult for Kingdra to sweep. I don't know what your HP type is but I hope it's electric, and Ice Beam NEEDS to go over Focus Energy.

Really I've tried that set with a Scope Lens before, even then all Kingdra did was get KOed.

Honestly Jolteon is a waste of a team slot when you can just give Kingdra Swift Swim, which suits it better on a Rain Dance team.

All right, I'll try Hydro Pump instead.

I need Agility to be Baton Passed, not necessarily Substitute.

Yeah, but I'm usually really lucky when it comes to battling anyway, so relying on a little bit of luck won't hurt me. Yeah, Hidden Power is Electric.

Maybe my luck's better than yours? *shrug*

Besides, you still haven't answered which is better on this team. Donphan or Bronzong?

Faceless* February 21st, 2008 3:45 PM

First off, know that relying on anything with lesser than 60% chance of happening is usually bad.

Oh, Gyarados, Heracross, Mixmence weaknesses. Add a Physical wall.

I'm keeping my Sniper Kingdra. Working on the physical wall.

Oh, sorry. There's the two I mentioned in a previous post, plus another poster's fixes on Bronzong's EVs.

Donphan @ Leftovers; Sturdy
Impish; 4 Attack, 252 Defense, 252 HP
Earthquake
Ice Shard
Knock Off
Rapid Spin

Bronzong @ Leftovers; Levitate
Relaxed; 252 HP, 114 Defense, 144 Sp Defense

You see now then, if you dislike our suggestions, there is no point in posting a "rate my team" thread, see now?

That Kingdra is the only thing I'm going to keep as it is, unless you have a better moveset for its Sniper function. Everything else I can change, as long as it stays a Rain Dance team.

But that Kingdra doesn't fit in at all. If you want to use that Kingdra then make the team work around it, not Kingdra work around the team (and that's currently not working)

How doesn't Sniper Kingdra fit? It has Hydro Pump, which gets boosted by the rain.
