It actually doesn't. In case you haven't noticed, this section isn't really active any more. So your accusations are pretty much false.

Not an accusation, more of an observation and an opinion, but think what you think.

Loki March 30th, 2009 7:50 PM

If you want comments, you need to comment on other people's showcases.
And even better, you should ask them up front to comment on your graphics. I know that's the way I work. I'm not going to waste my time commenting on someone's stuff unless they ask, because I don't go around commenting in my free time without some kind of shove for motivation. <_<

If you want votes, then I suggest you improve. Nobody here votes for their friends; That's just stupid. But we're not about to give you pity votes either. o_O We vote for the tags that we like the most, nothing more to it. Even if your tag is good, if there's another one that we think is better, are we going to vote for yours, or the other one? 99% chance we're gonna vote for the other one. That's the way competitions work, nuff said.

As for the clique observation, I'd say yes, there was a clique at one point, but that has long dissolved thanks to this section's general inactivity, so I'd say what you're seeing is just a remnant of the past. There's always going to be a clique somewhere as long as a group of people have similar interests and become friends. If you want the people in the clique to be more open, you have to give them a reason to do so, but seeing as there is no clique anymore, you're just going to have to appeal to the individual persons.

For example, I would never have commented on either Mannequin or Nitrous Oxide's showcases, but since you guys have commented here saying that they want comments.

And Nitrous Oxide? Twenty four hours? D: You are seriously overestimating how fast this forum moves. <_<;;; If you told me a week, then maybe I'd be a little more sympathetic, but showcases here can go months without comments dude. This is a pokemon forum, not a graphics forum. xD; I think maybe you'll want to try Anime Renders if you're looking for fast comments, but that place might eat you alive at this point, just a tip.

And I agree with Conman.
Comments = Graphics Rating Thread.

Now excuse me while I go comment on your guys' threads. <_<; If anyone else wants comments, seriously? Just VM me. I'm not going to eat you. x_o

Thomas March 30th, 2009 7:52 PM

>< the votes thing was a joke

Loki March 30th, 2009 7:54 PM

Yes, but I pointed out the reasons because this isn't the first time you've mentioned it. :<

Again, a joke, but apparently hard to convey with just text.

And yeah I complained that I never got comments, but I also said that I stopped posting graphics here because of it. I found another forum with a most active graphics community. I mean PC can't have sections that are as active as OT or OC

Conman March 30th, 2009 7:59 PM

I think I'll go around and comment on showcases since people feel left out...Of what? IDK...

Well that's good, and that's exactly what the point of my earlier post was. <_<; It's a pokemon community, not a graphics community.

The G&P heyday passed awhile ago. Who knows when it'll come back; Maybe you've already instigated it, seeing as me and Conman are officially motivated to start commenting on other showcases.
But we don't have a lot of generous people here, so usually you'll have to take the incentive if you want something to happen. ;<

And if they were jokes, then that's good, because I was kind of "<_<" about the fact that you were sore about not getting any votes. xD; But glad to see that you're a good sport, and that I'm obviously not. [/shot!]

I don't know either Conman. xD; I don't think I ever commented on your showcases more than once, even though we were definitely in the same clique.

Eh? I'm used to PE2K where my thread would probably have about 15 replies by now. This forum is bigger than PE2K and has more members, so I assumed it would be similar. :paranoid:

Aizuke March 30th, 2009 8:57 PM

Would most of those comments/replies be;

"YOUR STUFF IS GREAT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK."

What kind of comments are you exactly looking for? Comments to flatter your work or comments that might help you improve your work or what you've done well in them.

Most of the time I tend to avoid other people's showcases, because I'm not good with construction criticism. But I won't post in someone's thread just to state their graphics look good.

Mix of both, mostly. Everybody needs people to tell them that their stuff is good as well as constructive criticism, I find. I mean, if no one ever told me the stuff I made at first was kind of cool or good, I certainly wouldn't have continued on. Doesn't hurt to tell people you like their stuff once in a while. :P

Loki March 30th, 2009 9:17 PM

Hmm, well here at PC, just saying, "WOW I LIKE YOUR WORK" is considered as spam, so. ;<
I'm a little lenient on that rule, but that's mostly why a lot of people who have been around don't post like that. We take quite a bit of time to write out comments most of the time. xD;

THIRTY-SIX March 30th, 2009 9:22 PM

I used to do a lot of cC but then people just ignored what I said, when I stopped using graphic keywords. I mean another member says the exact same thing with a few graphic keywords and bam they listen to them. Even if that person themselves have no idea what those words properly mean. Oh your signature section looks sweet so I'll pay attention to what you say.

Plus when I post I nitpick a lot.

Loki April 1st, 2009 1:05 AM

Wow, this section kind of sucks for this joke, since most of us have our names in our showcase titles. D: [/failure]

THIRTY-SIX April 1st, 2009 12:25 PM

Well I'm really itching to find out who posted in my thread. No one usually would.

ruby April 12th, 2009 3:15 PM

Oh lordy, if anyone does enter with a photo taken with their phone I might have to top myself. xD

THIRTY-SIX April 12th, 2009 3:19 PM

… A photo of a phone with a photo showing…

ruby April 12th, 2009 3:33 PM

But not taken with a phone, my brains are safe. xD

Comic Tragedy April 12th, 2009 7:26 PM

I... I was.... *CRIES* I was gunna use my camera on my phone gummy! :O

XD

Anyway, seriously, kinda a bad idea. But hats off to JD for suggesting it. As for different sections, that is just my dream I wished upon a star for...

Conman April 12th, 2009 8:12 PM

I seriously was gonna take a picture what my cellphone for an entry...then turn it B/W and be like: Awesome, I'm so winning.

Hey guys. I was just wondering whether that 'Critics Eye' emblem should apply to the gfx section, kind of in association to the gfx rating thread.

Loki April 20th, 2009 8:07 PM

Oh, that's a good point 22. D:

[/looks into that]

Comic Tragedy April 26th, 2009 4:41 PM

Hah. Why haven't I earned my graphics artist emblem yet? (Comic Tragedy doesn't know that no one likes his work yet)
And, about that other emblem......
*scurries off to the graphics rating thread*

Loki April 26th, 2009 4:49 PM

Oh, yeah why haven't you? [/dies]

I'm such a lazy arse. I'll give it to you later.

Don't expect the rating one to start applying for the GRT until after May 29th though. D;

THIRTY-SIX April 26th, 2009 10:29 PM

And what about mine? I know I'll never get it, despite being a qualified graphic designer.

Comic Tragedy April 27th, 2009 3:26 PM

Munna, me and you we can create our own emblem...... "The people who will never get a graphics creator emblem!"

This is normally where a young hipster would write about how the title has a nice ring to it, sadly, it does not. XD

Loki April 27th, 2009 3:49 PM

Oh my gosh you guys, it's an emblem. xD
You'll get it when a staff member goes "Wao" at your stuff and then it'll be all, "oyay" for like three seconds.
It's not a big deal. :B

Waaah! Dx It does matter to them! [/run away]

In my opinion, which no one should ever listen to, an emblem such as this represents something to a graphix designer that someone from the Staff actually took the time to enjoy their hard work and grant them this piece of pixel that mean it all.

I totally feel more important right now XD

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 2:50 PM

I was toying around with the idea of a PC Stock Bucket in my head the other day, and I think it's something that we all could benefit from. What I'm suggesting is that we make a Social Group (or use the preexisting "elite" group) to post the password and username to a freshly made photobucket account. Then, whenever one of us finds some nice stocks/renders and we're feeling generous, we can dump them in the stockbucket for all to use. What do you guys think?

I got the idea from ピチュー, who was kind enough to post the link to his stockbucket in his gallery.

Zebra Thunderhead May 3rd, 2009 3:21 PM

I would be perfectly willing to make a Stock Bucket if someone else will make the Social Group.

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 3:32 PM

Seems like someone doesn't want to go through the trouble of inviting lots of people. xD

I'll make the group since I'm currently free.

Conman May 3rd, 2009 3:35 PM

That sounds like a great idea. I have many stocks I can contribute right now.

PS: I also have said GFX emblem. I'm awesome like that :D

An invite has been sent to all members of the Collab group, along with Josephine and BlackRockShooter. From this point on, should it be like the Collab group, where possible members are discussed or are we just going to have it where anyone can send me a VM requesting to be part of the group?

Ezzo! May 3rd, 2009 3:56 PM

I'm like the only member on the Graphics thing that doesn't have a GFX Emblem. :[
lol
Hmm, maybe like the normal collab group but it became inactive very fast. Bleh, I have mixed thoughts. :c

Zebra Thunderhead May 3rd, 2009 3:58 PM

I'll make the account later tonight... I fudged up somehow and Photobucket is going LOLNO whenever I try to make an account. ):

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 4:02 PM

Anyways, here's the link to the group: click me baby

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 4:33 PM

Comic Tragedy May 3rd, 2009 4:35 PM

I posted my bucket! Yarr.

Zebra Thunderhead May 3rd, 2009 4:38 PM

This is great, I can finally host a place for my old stocks and can delete them from my PC! \o/

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 4:44 PM

I think you got the wrong idea CT. What were doing is posting our images on a single photobucket account.

Comic Tragedy May 3rd, 2009 5:24 PM

Holy poo. I'll take it down.....
I took 1 whole hour labeling and uploading those.

Gummy May 3rd, 2009 5:37 PM

Sorry you wasted an hour of your life. xD
But look at the bright side. Now you can make your bucket public and post it in your showcase or something.

Micro May 3rd, 2009 6:26 PM

Thanks for the share guys. By the way, can I join this? I have some stocks and renders I'm willing to share. Oh, an, is graphics's school still open? Thanks.

Gummy May 5th, 2009 9:21 PM

I'm bored and in the mood for some luls, so I've come up with a little something for us to do. Let's all post the worse piece of trash we've ever created in Photoshop/GIMP/whatever. It's also a good way to show how much you've improved.

I was like' Gummy, you can do better' then I read the post XD

Btw someone needs to give Ezzo the GFX Emblem, since his work is AMAZING.

I agree, ezzo is the man.

Micro May 6th, 2009 5:59 AM

I deleted my worst tag loonngg time ago. :] Anyway, it was this Gaara tag. It was horrible, believe me.

Dukey May 6th, 2009 1:18 PM

Might still be on my windows computer, I'll check tonight.

moments. May 17th, 2009 10:08 PM

Nah the Graphics School perished a while ago..

Micro May 17th, 2009 10:14 PM

Oh, I see. Is there any way to revive it again?

Dukey May 17th, 2009 10:16 PM

It seems a bit soon for us to start a new one, and I doubt there are many people who would want to run the classes, with exams being on at the moment in some countries?

Give it a little while though, we might get another one up and running some time in the future.

Micro May 17th, 2009 10:19 PM

Oh, I see. Thanks Dukey~

But I have one more question. (Sorry. :P)
How do you make signature tutorials?

Dukey May 17th, 2009 10:44 PM

Start with a really long blank PSD document, maybe like 3000 pixels high XD
Then explain what you did on almost each layer as individual steps.

Gummy May 18th, 2009 12:21 PM

I've been wanting to do a tutorial on one of my icons, but I don't know which one(s) to choose.

On a side note, anyone know a good site for good screencaps?

Zebra Thunderhead May 18th, 2009 12:57 PM

www.oritsuru.com is pretty good for Sqenix screencaps. Others I just find on other random fan sites.

D i v i n e X May 21st, 2009 7:04 PM

Hi, I've been searching for some really, really cool brushes, ones that don't look to real, but are awesome, can any of you suggest me some, that are uber awesome?

I mean uber awesome, I wanna start winning contests.

Well, I'm using gimp, but I wanna changes that to photoshop, can anyone tell me were they got their photoshop?

Zebra Thunderhead May 22nd, 2009 3:20 PM

Most of us probably got Photoshop illegally. So... just find a torrent of it.

As for brushes, deviantArt is your best bet.

I have Photoshop CS4 and GIMP 2.0 but out of the two for general making I prefer GIMP because of how easy it is to use which is very convenient and time efficient. So I would disagree with Photoshop being better than GIMP as it can do nearly everything that Photoshop can. However the extra adjustment layers and such that Photoshop has I have needed in certain tags.

The second thing I'd like to say is why do you want good brushes for? The only brushes that are useful are splatter brushes which can be used for effects such as smudging etc. Using only the brush strokes for effects usually makes some failure tags, they're never really used for effects them selves. I you want to make win some competitions I would definitly not count on good brushes your going down the wrong route.

The effects that are mostly used in tags are: smudging, colour adjustment layers, lighting, bluring/sharpening, C4Ds (3d renders) and sometimes pentooling. Good typography also helps a great deal.

Well hope the advice helps.

I think they will help, I saw some awesome banners made with C4Ds they were awesome, I'm so gonna get C4D's, I never realized that making a decent tag sounded so simple, I'll give it a try...

Is there any place you can point me to that has awesome fonts?

Holy crap, how did the GRT get to page 80 already? o_o;;

Anyway, after this week, I should have like, a LOT of time. [/sorry I've been on absence lately. Dx You guys are awesome though, and pretty much held fort. Thank you a thousand times. <3]

So what do y'all say to me editing the butts off of your thread titles and giving these three labels:

[Shop]
[Gallery]
[Competition]

??

Oh, and then do you guys want a new GRT at page 100, or just keep on goin' with the current thread?

I might have to make a new lounge soon too. [/has been procrastinating on that since Sorano quit. Which was like, how many years ago? xD!]

Dukey May 22nd, 2009 11:24 PM

Because of all the spam it's been getting while you were gone XD

Yes, labels please, although competition is a bit long, maybe Battle or Contest?

Current thread seems fine, new threads just attract spam :/
Oh noes, just as our lounge was getting some activity XD

Comic Tragedy May 23rd, 2009 6:37 AM

I still think that most of the time you just have to use common sence to find out what kind of thread it is (especially with the GB&CG's threads, I mean its just obvious).

But hey, a trial run wouldn't hurt anyone. But that still doesn't mean I don't think that there should simply be separate competition, user shops, and portfolio section. Don't go crazy coo-coo on me though, I still remember this isn't a graphics forum, its a pokemon forum.

Also, if there is a reopening of any of the stickied threads, I would LOVE to make them. Why you ask? Because when no ones watching I pretend I'm the G&P mod. XD

Forget I just said that HAHA

Wow. You're the first one I have seen in my PokeCommunity experience who says GIMP is easy to use. I agree with you on everything you said. :D

-waves at Angela-

I've transferred about ten PS tuts to GIMP, which proves that GIMP is capable of doing just as much as PS can. One of my favorites have made at least five tags for people who request them from me. One of the best examples is my sig tag.

Uh, well with stickied threads, if it's something official of sorts, like the Lounge, then sorry you can't remake it. xD; I dunno why, but awhile back they made us re-do all the threads in our sections so that a staff member was the thread creator? I'd like to not have to do that again and just go ahead and do official threads myself. That's why I was thinking of re-doing this thread. x_x;

And GRT is mine. D:< [/shot]

Edit:

Okay after implementing the labelling system on the first two pages, there's a LOT of redundancy.
If anyone would like their thread name changed to accomodate the fact that you've got [shop] or [gallery] in front of your thread title now, please post here.
Because if you PM me, I'll be annoyed. xD;;

Anyway, I'll label everything on the front page from today onwards whenever I've got the time. <3

Gummy May 23rd, 2009 11:15 AM

What about the people that have their shops and galleries in one thread?

THIRTY-SIX May 23rd, 2009 12:54 PM

It's a shopallery obviously. I'd assume gallery would be in the title and shop would be in the brackets.

I've transferred about ten PS tuts to GIMP, which proves that GIMP is capable of doing just as much as PS can. One of my favorites have made at least five tags for people who request them from me. One of the best examples is my sig tag.

-waves to Angela again-

Hi Wolf *Wafes/Huggles* Nice to see you in more graphic sections then PE2K's. :D

Which was like, how many years ago? xD!]

A new GRT at 100 sounds fine to me. :D
And a new lounges also sounds great. :)

I'd probably just label it as a shop. xD;

Azonic May 23rd, 2009 4:07 PM

Prefixes would be a lot easier, y'know Loki. :[

BHwolfgang May 23rd, 2009 5:17 PM

Hey, does anyone know of any good sites to look for renders except for Planetrenders?

Loki May 23rd, 2009 7:22 PM

But prefixes are ugly. D:
And if I'm interpreting "prefixes" correctly, I'm too lazy to ask someone to go add them for me, sooooo. :I

Scrapped that idea then? D:

.... No? o_o

I meant like, if you've got:

[Gallery] Loki's Gallery

And didn't want Gallery twice, you can tell me and I'll change it...? o_o

I don't really know what you're trying to say. xD; [/you and munna are hard to understand. Dx]

ruby May 24th, 2009 1:51 AM

Ah, I read it as post in here if you want one on your thread title but if not don't bother.

THIRTY-SIX May 24th, 2009 5:22 AM

Mine never got one. xP

Also about the prefixes, that sounds like a better thing. Like in CQ&F.

I think prefixes is a great idea, but people should have the option of not using them, like Loki said, if someone already has Gallery/Shop in their name...

Yeah, thought that's what you meant with the prefixes.
I'll look into it if this title stuff works out, because I'm sure you all know how much I hate asking admins to do things. <_<
[/cause they never do it. D:<]

Anyway, I only added the labels on the first two pages, and I'm waiting for all the other threads to get bumped to the front as I'm adding them. That's probably why yours didn't get one.

Edit: Oh wait, Elysium, the reason why I didn't add [gallery] to yours is because the first word in your title is "gallery" anyway, and I thought it was somewhat obvious... x_o;

THIRTY-SIX May 24th, 2009 8:48 AM

Mines actually on the second. Don't want it though. xD

Loki May 24th, 2009 8:50 AM

Yup, I just saw it and edited the post above yours with the reason I didn't add "Gallery". xD

Anyway, next time I catch BLACK ROCK SHOOTER I'll pop the prefix idea, kay guys?

Loki May 24th, 2009 10:33 AM

[/doesn't make a difference to me]
