Current Work...

OK, I've decided to post some of my latest creations. Please note that I use Paint Shop Pro v9, not Photoshop like most others, so the graphics look a tad different, but ya.

Ok, not too many there, but enough to see I suppose. 1st and 4th are my faves.

Currently Need to work on:
  • Text Font
  • Text Placement
  • Picture Placement
  • Font Size

I have a bit to say..

The first one: It's not that great, since I can hardly seen the Pokemon and the text would be so much more impressive if it blended in better and had more of an effective font. It'd be better if the Pokemon was more visible.
The second one: The background is incredible, but I can't see how that text relates to anything- yet again, it'd be better if it had nicer fonts. The render would be nice if it was more solid, as well.
The third one: The text is again in need of better font. The render is slightly pixelated around the edges as well. Otherwise, pretty nice.
The fourth one: It's pretty good, actually. The text could use some better positioning and the render could fit in better, but it's good.
The fifth one: Your best, in my opinion. It's simplicity and the way it works with the render is impressive.
The sixth one: This one would be my favorite if not for the text effects.

Overall, I think you mainly need to work on the text font and positioning, and the way that the render and text fits in with the background. Good job though! Good luck, please keep making more banners and keep practicing and improving.

Thankyou, I've been looking for some better fonts, those were just the ones i was "into" at the time. I'm sure if I looked I could find some better. In regards to the second banner, the show uses Shinx in a playful manner, but as it evolves, the mood changes. Simply trying to highlight the playfulness.

I love the 5th banner, hence it is now siggy material. ;)

So indeed the text is an issue, I will work on that. Thanks again.

Good, but not great. V.Valentine covered all the vital aspects.
I suggest dafont.com. My text used to suck also, even with fifty of them at my disposal. Dafont helped lot. =]

Thanks kindly, I'll take a look. I've got about 75 a.t.m, hopefully I can expand.

for the first three, I agree with V.Valentine that they probably would look better when the pokemon would be more visible. the first two backgrounds look pretty nice!

and the jigglypuff one, it might be a matter of taste, but I don't really like the central spot you gave the jigglypuff. but as I said, that can also be a matter of taste, I just happen to prefer more asymetry.

about the font's, don't get too much unless you can really remember which one is which font. because having too many can result in not knowing how they look anymore, or forgetting you have some great ones. not to mention looking half an hour for the one you wanted ;)

Also in text, simplicity usually looks best. Shrink down the font, as well.

Most of the things I was going to say have already been covered, so I'm just going to say work on image blending. In some of the banners, the render blends perfectly fine, for example, the Jigglypuff one. But for most of the others, the way you blended the image makes them look rough, or it becomes difficult to see what you're actually looking at. It's been too long since I've used PSP, so I don't know completely about it's capabilities, so I don't know what you can do to help with image blending x___o

Just keep on practicing ^^
