Who needs Snow? We need the Warmth!
This is my first attempt at a Sunny Day weather team, built around Vileplume, of course. Be honest, but not, you know, stupid.
[email protected] Rock Nature:Timid Sunny Day Weather Ball Solarbeam HP Ice EV:??? She'll be starting this little Heat wave up. She makes an awesome Sp.Sweeper, and a great starter, though I feel I effed up on the moveset. [email protected] Nature:Modest/Timid Solarbeam Sludge Bomb HP Fire Sleep Powder EV:??? With Rosemary setting up Sunny Day, I'm free to use Sludge Bomb. It offers me coverage against all pokes execpt Heatran. I know it isn't the best attacking type, but it can still rack in hits with Solar Fire covering the bulk. [email protected] Ability:Thick Fat Nature:Calm Sunny Day Rest Charge Beam Psychic EV:252 HP, 56 SP.Atk 200 SP.Def Of course, I'll attract fire moves like crazy, so a Sp.wall with Thick fat is enevitable. I also need an alternative Sunny Day setter. Currently being debated for Snorlax. [email protected] Band/Heat Rock/??? Nature:Jolly/Naive Flare Blitz Extremespeed Thunder Fang Sunny Day/Crunch EV??? Absorbing Fire moves, which will make an apperance. He could be an alternative Sunny Day setter, if I use Snorlax. Does he have potential to be my physical ATKer? [email protected] Nature:Impish Ability:??? Power Whip Knock Off Leech Seed Sleep Powder EV:252 HP, ???DEF, ???ATK I need help. something that can draw Fire moves is great. Which ability would be best, Clear from status, or Super Speed? & should I go for double powder? He's my wall, he makes a good wall, right? [email protected] Nature:Calm Wish Air Slash Flamethrower/T-wave/Aura Sphere/Baton Pass Sunny Day/Nasty Plot EV??? Another Sunny Day setter if both Grumpig AND Arcanine doesn't have it. That said, She is the Wishpasser for my team, specifically Tangrowth. Should she pass Nasty Plots to my Roserplume, or just stick to the heat? Well, tell me the weaks, but refrain from using "lol" or "stupid too much. No matter ow you look at it, that is a huge insult to a person's intellegence, and really makes you look unproffesional. Thanks. Remember, this is my first shot at a Sunny Day team, and I really wanted to use both Roserade & Vileplume. Esppecially Vileplume. |
Since it is a Sunny Team, I recommend Solar Power Sunflora (however, other people may disagree),:
Sunflora @ Choice Specs Nature:Modest Ability:Solar Power EVs: 252HP (otherwise you wont last long), 252 Sp.Atk, 6 Spd - Leaf Storm / SolarBeam - Hidden Power [Fire] - Energy Ball - Sludge Bomb I personally prefer Solarbeam, but it's up to you, and even though Sunflora is UU, It nasty when you combine Choice Specs/Modest Nature/Solar Power/STAB Solarbeam in the sun. Solarbeam to sweep, HP [Fire] for Steels, Energy Ball for second STAB (you might want another move there though), Sludge Bomb to hit other grass types hard. |
Yeah, title I can agree with, Definitely.
NP really helps your team, but It's your go, whatever floats your boat. Team Support, or Sunny Day. But does a Sunny Day team need Sunny day? 0_o In my opinion, you need to have extra support for that incase one of your other set-up-pokemon for Sunny day dies. |

But an NP to Roserade or Plume would be nasty indeed. I gotta think about this. |
this team is way to special based. and having 3 grass types just because their abilities benefit from weather is not a good idea. i'd get rid of roserade. it doesn't belong on a sunny day team. it can work on a sandstorm team, but sunny day really makes the worst of it. i'd replaced it for something that makes a better starter overall and can set up sunny day with little worries. i know this is going to sound crazy, but i suggest a focus sash ninjask who can set up sunny day, survive a hit and pass the speed your team will desperately need to really sweep. another option is aerodactyl who can thwart sandstorm team starters, use taunt, use sunny day, and have a physical edge with boosted fire fang and stone edge, or better yet crunch (for pesky ghosts and psychics, which your team really has trouble with). crowbat can run the taunt + sunny day set too, but can't do much against ghosts/psychics. so i think aerodactyl works well for this team because it can really start the team off.
i think you should make tangrowth a CB sweeper. it has earthquake, brick break, rock slide and powerwhip. adamant nature, 252 ATK + CB gives it 492 ATK (31 ivs) and with sunny day, it can reach 398 SPD. it won't be able to outrun scarf porygon-z, so you may want to consider a jolly natured tangrowth with swords dance. i dunno, i just think trying to make tangrowth a physical wall on a SUNNY DAY team is a very bad decision. but giving it the ability to lolsweep on such a team would make more use of it. it still gets walled by skarmory, etc but imagine the damage it could do to a heatran switching in after it uses swords dance. that would hurt. you could go jolly 252 SPD/108 HP/148 ATK. it'll still be able to take a hit (say a outrage from garchomp) and could hold leftovers for some survivability. arcanine is ok. flare blitz really hurts. i like intimidate on him. i just don't like the fact that he's not all that fast. if they would've just squeezed a little out of sp def and into speed, then he would be omgUBER. that set there is fine... can't promise it'll be completely effective, but there's not much that can take a STAB flare blitz in sunny day and shrug it off. rapidash might be a better options seeing as how it can induce sleep, which is a plus against bulky waters. face it, thunderfang doesn't do much to bulky waters. also, ponyta is faster than garchomp, so that may come into play. but on that note, arcanine can take a hit. XD... it's up to you. your team doesn't have enough time to wishpass. sorry, togekiss has gotta go. what you need here is someone who can handle stealth rock and other bulky waters. i think you should consider tentacruel. it has both rapid spin and STAB sludge bomb to fight off other bulky waters that are making it hard for vileplume and tangrowth to switch in. it's not afraid of ghosts all that much as well with its nice special defense. haze might really come in handy against CM cressys/blissys/suicune or curselaxs. finally, no i wouldn't drop grumpig for snorlax. i'd drop it for something like moltres. loquacity's moltres is a good example of what it can do to a team. imagine how much damage it could do with sunny day up. but on that note, your team does have troubles with azelf. snorlax can wall azelf and take it out with STAB crunch, so i dunno. your team does have a decent fighting resist so snorlax does work well. i just think you need something that will hit hard and be able to recover hp. |

I don't mind dropping Togekiss, but it's a shame--no, a damn shame--that Roserade must go. Ah well. I don't want Ninjask, I don't like him. But Aero makes a good Sunny sarter? What's his set? I'll consider Tentacreul, it's one of my favorite water types. You shall bow to him. RIGT NOW! But what would a set be? So in all, replace Togekiss and :'( Roserade for Aerodactyl & Tentacreul respectivly. |
May be off topic, but I have a Timid Moltres you can have sims.
Moltres Timid 28/19/31/31/23/30 Meant to be a Choice Scarf Starter, but I can remove the EV's if you like. ~T_S |

But until I get it, I won't put it on the team, just in case I'm stuck in school. |

[email protected] 204 HP / 74 DEF / 60 SP.ATT / 172 SP.DEF Calm nature Trait : Liquid Ooze - Ice Beam - Sludge Bomb - Rapid Spin - Giga Drain / Hidden power Electric I would advise Toxic Spikes, but Hera and you dont really have a counter for it. |

Fire Fang Stone Egde EQ Sunny Day? |
No way Sunny Day on Aero. I love starting with Rapidash on my Sunny Day Team. Hypnosis+Sunny Day.
[email protected] Jolly 252 HP, 252 Spd, 6 Atk Hypnosis Sunny Day Flare Blitz Megahorn/Will-o-Wisp Double-Status possibilites with Sunny Day starting. Flare Blitz is strong like hell once the Sun is out. ~T_S |
What's wrong with Sunny on Aero?
|
Aero is overrated I think. It's too fragile anywho. Gyarados lols, so do many other common leads. Aero cannot afford to set up Sunny Day, that's why it's run normally as a CB Starter, hit hard and then die really. Focus Sash are you using? It may work, but other pokemon use Sunny Day better. (This is assuming you are using Aero as a lead, as I think that's what you're saying...)
I much like Rapidash, it can hit T-Tar with Megahorn, doesn't care about Weavile, and kills it too. Gyara is slower, so Hypnosis, Bronzong is again, no problem. Only true problems are Gengar and faster sleepers like Jumpluff. ~T_S |
I'll think about it. I'm trying to limit the amount of Fire types I use.
|
Well, as I said, Jumpluff is a damn fast Sleeper Lead, and Sunny Day up on the switch/free turn. It learns U-Turn too, to get out fast, and hits SE on T-Tar and Weavile leads. (Weavile is a problem though I believe.)
Heatran maybe over Moltres. Using Flash Fire is scary when also in the sun. A Choice Specs'd Overheat from Modest Heatran with 1 Flash Fire and Sunny Day is.... OMFG! U IZ DEAD! :P ~T_S |
Quote:
Jumpluff @ Leftovers Trait: Chlorophyll EVS: 252 HP / 160 SDEF / 96 SATK - Sunny Day - Substitute - Leech Seed - Solar Beam. :O |
Ummm, if he's leading, he wants speed. Besides, with no speed, he doesn't outspeed Choice Scarf Garchomp. The Sp. Atk does nothing for you, Jumpluff isn't meant to hit things, and the sub-seed set is best pulled off with Sleep Powder over Solarbeam.

Sleep Powder, and with a Sub up, you can afford to stay in. Another reason to have U-Turn. Outspeed and switch to Heatran.

With a Sub you have 2 chances at it, and again, switching to Heatran anyone?

Not a Flash Fire+Sunny Day Boost+Overheat+Choice Specs+STAB...
or Explosion... ~T_S |
In the sun Heatran 2HKOs Blissey with Specs Fire Blast. Ditto for Moltres.
Also people who lead with Aerodactyl are crazy. It's way better to use with teams it really works well in that don't fear Scarfers and such. Since Mixape flat out flattens this team, stay with Grumpig over Snorlax BTW. Otherwise listen to what Samson was saying. Also Timid Moltres really stinks compared to Modest ._. Moltres can really nail crap though that you need it to but Dragons will wall the bajeebers out of you if you run HP Grass. Really the most common fire attackers ARE dragons, as well as Infernape. Um, Weavile could come in handy for playing the role of "knight who slays the dragons" or Dugtrio could steamroll Infernape. Don't you love my verb selection? I mean Physical Infernape will be a big problem that Dugtrio could solve. It would also get Vire, Raikou if it's timid, and Jirachi below 80% health. |
the reason why i suggested aero is because he has both taunt and sunny day. taunt is a vital move for teams that depend on sunny day. unlike water types who benefit from rain dance, fire and grass (especially) types are very vulnerable and really can't perform as tanks and sweepers at the same time. so you have to leave it up to something that is very fast that can prevent things like stealth rock, stat boosts, reflect/light screen from being set up. he makes a reliable starter that can set up sunny day but also get in a hit.
