UU Team - "From the ground up."

Ok, so I'm new to UU play, although I have used some of these pokes in OU before with decent success.
I'd appreciate some help on what to fix, or if a Pokemon looks like it could be replaced, then please tell me.
Here it goes...

Team Overview:

Hypno, Kabutops, Toxicroak, Aggron, Meganium, and Pelipper is also being considered at this time.

Team In-Depth:

252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpDef
Calm Nature
- Thunderwave
- Wish
- Reflect
- Psychic/Seismic Toss

I love this thing. It statuses, provides team wish support, boosts team defense,
and can hit hard with Psychic or can wear things down with Seismic Toss.
Works well, especially in OU.
It was either this or Grumpig, and I prefer Hypno.

248 HP / 156 SpDef / 104 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall

[email protected] Orb
6 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball/HP Grass (Haven't decided, but am leaning towards HP Grass)

My special sweeper, and it hits most UU pokemon for atleast neutral damage.
I prefer Life Orb over Choice Specs due to my hatred of Choice items.

252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Def
Sturdy
Relaxed
- Curse
- Ice Punch
- Brick Break
- Earthquake

One of my favorite pokes. I used him on NetBattle to
BP Ninjask's speed boost and Swords Dance to. Also, a great wall,
especially so with Wish support.
Immunity to Toxic on a wall? Yes, please!

252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpDef
Careful Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Heal Bell
- Roost
- Sing

My cleric. Works well so far, and can take hits.

236 HP / 160 Def / 114 SpAtk
Bold Nature
- Surf
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Knock Off

Great tank, and Knock Off demolishes other tanks/walls.
Pelipper's Special Attack and STAB for his attacks also
works well for cleaning up.

Um that threat list is a bit...incomplete O_O No Hypno :(

I don't really get what Rapid Spin is doing on an attacking set for Kabutops.

Well, I didn't really want him to be an attacker, but couldn't find any good spinners for UU that fit my team. So I just decided to make a versatile Kabutops.

If that makes sense.

El Gofre March 19th, 2008 1:51 PM

Sandslash= Best UU spinner in my opinion. Its like the UU donphan from hell.
I'll try and remember the standard, ill post it when I've got it.

EDIT: Plus it complements your 2 electric weaks

Claydol is UU now, so you could use that, Hitmontop is also a really good spinner, better than people give it credit for.

I was thinking Sandslash or Claydol, but who would I replace for them?

Idk I kind of like this team (with Toxicroak > Nidoking and Meganium > Altaria)

El Gofre March 19th, 2008 2:27 PM

I can't see what aggron's planning to achieve, so I'd ditch him. You need a dedicated physical wall anyway, which sandslash excels at and claydol can kinda do :)

Dunsparce March 19th, 2008 2:34 PM

Even in UU, Sweepers piss all over Aggron with his quadruple weaknesses, Ground and Fighting, two of the most common attacking types used in competitive play.

Sandslash/Claydol > Aggron

Meganium, is a good poke, try using it in conjunction with Toarkoal, Rapid Spin/Rest/Lava Plume/Stealth Rock or Toxic, that way you can abuse rest with Meganiums Aromatherapy or Altarias heal bell =)

Dunsparce March 19th, 2008 2:57 PM

Meganium can learn many useful moves, like Reflect, Light Screen, Leech Seed, and the obvious Aromatherapy.

I usually run this:
[email protected]
Bold/Calm
216 HP / 148 DEF / 144 SATT
Aromatherapy
Light Screen/Reflect
Leech Seed/Synthesis
Leaf Storm/Energy Ball/Grass Knot

I prefer Leaf Storm as its attacking move, even though it's not standard.

I love the move Reflect, but seeing as though it's on my Hypno I'd replace that second slot with a status move.

That's a good set though, I'll give it a shot.

Then give it both Leech Seed and Syntesis.

Meganium is not very reliable as statusing, as Its only sleep move is the horribly inaccurate Grasswhistle and it can't get Stun Spore. All that's there is Toxic, but everything that can learn a TM can get it, meaning there are ALOT of Pokemon that can use it far better :/

True.

I was under the impression that Meganium learned the spores; my bad.

Bulbasaur is the only Grass starter that learns all 3 Powders.

Interesting Grass Fact: The Only Pokemon that can possibly get Spore are mushrooms, as Spore's Japanese name is "Mushroom Spore"

Faceless* March 19th, 2008 4:54 PM

I'd put Aqua Jet in combination with Swords Dance on Kabutops for a little quick strike, just in comparison to Donphan's Ice Shard, see what I mean?

Ársa March 19th, 2008 4:56 PM

I agree, especially considering you have nothing truly fast on your team. Jumpluff could prove a hassle otherwise.

(Full rate later on)
