new player
Hi im a new player and was wandering if anyone had tips
|
When building a team, always focus on balance. Make sure each fulfills a different role- sweepers, walls, status inflictors, etc. Also, make sure that you invest EVs into the correct stats. For sweepers, a 252/252 spread will work well, but for walls, it becomes much more complicated. You have to distribute EVs based on the Pokemon's base stats and what Pokemon and moves it will likely face.
On the subject of breeding, make sure to breed for proper natures. Each nature boosts a certain stat, so use the Everstone trick with a Ditto to get the nature you need. And don't forget to IV breed- remember, when breeding, three IVs from the parents are passed to the offspring. Of course, this is all just basic tips. I can always go in depth if you want. ;) |
when starting, i'd recommend starting with chimchar if you want a challenge (thats wat i did, beat the elite 4 in 17 hours) otherwise, just have fun! you can go underground, play the lottery, just watever makes it fun 4 you! ;)

Like airconditioning said balance your team and don't listen to anyone who tells you to pick a starter no offense paperfunk choose which best suits you remember if you choose a turtwig get its deffence high and also its attack then you will have a strong last evo of it and remember not to use legendaries alot if you grow to attached to them you will start to loose focus on training trust me i know :'( that is one of the many rules in training pokemon and don't use walkthroughs or guides unless you get stuck at a certain part of the game and don't hack or cheat. Hop i helped.

Your focus should on the game. Don't worry about what air conditioning said until later in the game
|
And also you must focus on building your team, I recommend defensive ones. I really like defensive pokemon...
|
Make sure you have a wide variety of types on your team, and not too many Pokemon of a single type. For example, if you have a Piplup, Shellos, and Buizel, half your team can be taken out by a single Electric type. I would recommend Chimchar to start out with, because Fire types are rare in the early game, whereas Grass and Water types are much more common.
|
first good luck in your battles and second you must have difrent types of pokemon in your team it will help you a lot in battles and something last dont be afraid maybe in the end you will be the winner in a battle
|
I can't stress this enough but train ALL of your pokemon. It doesn't help when you get to the Elite 4 with a level 70 Torterra and the rest of your pokes level 40. It just won't work out well.

Since strategy-related comments will confuse a beginner, I think it's best to avoid those comments and just give general ideas. Thanks.
