keepin' it freshhh

This is an attempt at using some standard pokemon in order to make a good OU team, without being "omg bliss, omg gyara, omg infernape, etc.."
This team actually flows quite well.

Please feel free to offer criticism and advice.

- This new team has gone 8-1 throughout the course of the day. Advice is still very much appreciated.

- Still no advice/criticism? I'd really appreciate some sort of the aforementioned things.

Calm Nature (+Sp.D/-Atk)
250 HP / 252 Def / 8 Sp.Atk
- Ice Beam
- Thunderwave
- Counter
- Thunderbolt

This set has been revised, Counter took the place of Protect and The EVs have changed. This set takes advantage of the great HP and Defenses Regice has. Counter is here to take care of Phys. Sweepers who try and KO Regice. In fact, Regice took a (2DD) Stone Edge hit from Gyara for 58% damage, and I countered for the KO. Works VERY well as a starter.

Bold Nature (+Def/-Atk)
232 HP / 114 Def / 164 Sp.Def
- Slack Off
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Calm Mind

This set too has been revised. CM is there to: 1. Take hits; and 2. To deal out massive damage. CM combined with Slack Off is great, and he has swept teams twice today. However, this gets stalled by other bulky waters (Milotic). HP Electric could replace Ice Beam, but then I'd have to worry about Breloom etc. Anyways, this poke takes hits like a pro.

Adamant Nature (+Atk/-Sp.Atk)
252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 HP
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch

Unchanged. Still a very big part of the team, in a defensive sense as well as offensive. If I predict an Electric attack or a Thunderwave, I switch in my Electivire and start to sweep. VERY fun to switch in on another Electivire that is using T-Punch.

Bold Nature (+Def/-Atk)
252 HP / 108 Def / 150 Sp.Def
- Moonlight
- Ice Beam
- Reflect
- Psychic

Cresselia is here to replace my Togeflinch and to solve my Infernape problems. This set works very well, and I'd like to thank whoever posted it on these forums for it.

[email protected] Orb
Adamant Nature (+Atk/-Sp.Atk)
252 Sp.Atk / 252 Spd / 6 HP
- Aerial Ace
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance
- Ice Punch

Replaces my Scrafran. Works very well when switching into an attack I know won't do much, Swords Dancing on the switch, and sweeping.

Bold Nature (+Def/-Atk)
252 Def / 244 Sp.Def / 14 HP
- Aromatherapy
- Seismic Toss
- Ice Beam
- Softboiled

This Blissey works pretty well at cleaning up kills as well as being a cleric.

why would you counter gyarados if you thunderbolt? ._. don't get me wrong, counter is a neat idea, but it's a huge gamble, especially when most physical attackers nowadays are fighting types who WILL ohko it.

ddtar would embarrass this. actually, let me correct myself... any sandstorm team would have fun with this team. you have an ice attack overload and a X3 fighting weak that heracross would take advantage of and have a fun time megahorning your fighting resists.

drop slowbro. it's not doing anything special or new for this team. it's the only poke that really lures in electric attacks, and yet, it's not that afraid of them with calm mind and slack off. i suggest a sub passer for your team. electivire, cressy and especially weavile could really make use of it. vaporeon is an option that lures in electric attacks. both don't bother with another ice beam. i'd give it baton pass/wish/sub/surf. if not vaporeon, drifblim might be a nice addition to your team. it's not all that defensive, but it has hypnosis, which is status your team could really use. considering you have no phasers. basically, you set sleep, set sub, attack if you can 2HKO, or pass sub. just something to consider.

Yeah, Scarf or Band, you're in trouble when it comes to Heracross.

I agree, drop Slowbro, it just adds another Hera weakness, and does nothing for you. Common Heracross counters are Gliscor and Weezing. Weezing is my suggestion, as it also lols at Gyarados early on.

Id actually run Gliscor >> Slowbro...... it helps with you DD Tar Problem AND heracross problem somewhat, watch out for the occasional Ice Beam from it though

Wait, wait, why in the blue hell do you have 2 special walls ? Regice and Bliss do the same thing......Replace one and put in a Steel,*Looks at Bronzong* this will help with Boah and FOE WEAVILE who do actually own you.

Bliss ev spread 40 HP / 252 DEF / 216 SP.DEF @Calm T-Wave/Aroma/S-Toss/Softboiled << Do NOAW !! Helps with your massive Taunt/Metal Sound/Fire Blast/Hidden Power Grass. Heatran Problem you seem to have...

Id also drop vire and add a Special sweeper. Seriously, im not saying its bad, but the so called "Its Super Effective" set, is really easily walled, yes whilst it may be super effective on alot, Hippowdon, Swampert, Bronzong etc really dont seem to care lol

I may go into more depth later, but ill leave it at this for now.

Electivire should have Thunderbolt since it would do more damage to Skarmory, one of the best physical walls and Adamant should be changed to Lonely for Skarmory killing.Heracross that has Flame Orb and Swords Dance rips through your walls like tissue paper becuase Cresselia and Slowbro are OHKOed by Megahorn and Close Combat OHKOs your special walls.I recommend Gliscor because it's a Heracross counter and Aerial Ace just OHKOs it.Gliscor should be placed over Regice because it really isn't doing anything since Blissey is doing the job of special walling. Why does Weavile have Swords Dance?Life Orb gives it the power it needs and Ice Shard would be better. Why? because it kills the 1 hp left Focus Sashers(such as Weavile itself) and pokemon that have low HP left.Blissey should have the set Dark_Azelf suggested and he explained why.

Anti March 22nd, 2008 9:07 AM

Vire's worst set is Tbolt/EQ/Cross Chop/Ice Punch IMO. It's much wiser to use Thunderpunch and laugh while 2HKOing skarmory with it anyways once you slap on a choice Band (very good set BTW)

Dark_Azelf is right though, two special walls is very...no. I love Regice and all, but on a team with Blissey it just...doesn't really help. I mean, you could run a Specs set or something like that (100 base SAtk is okay) so you could give that a whirl. Also Slowbro and Cress on the same team most likely is not wise. Like the others said, they're your only fighting resists and Megahorn means gg.

Arcknight316 March 22nd, 2008 1:23 PM

Lol, Samson, doesn't Milotic do the same as the blimp? Haze and sleep, plus it's more defensive. Use Milotic over Regice and switch around the order (lead with Weavile).

Samson March 22nd, 2008 4:09 PM

i forgot about milotic XD that thing died away.

but i like subpass. it's fun.
