A Question on Shedinja

I not sure where to post this, but oh well...

Just a question...

If Shedinja has 1 HP and has Wonder Guard, why does it need to have defense? LOL

Glacier March 22nd, 2008 2:13 AM

Because Nintendo wanted a useless pokemon.

Darkrayz March 22nd, 2008 2:17 AM

because sometimes wonderguard lets the oponnent attck

^Wonderguard only lets the opponent attack if the move is super effective or it does damage indirectly, like Sandstorm.

Even though Shed does have Def and Sp Def, it's horribly low. I guess you can't make a Pokemon's Def/SDef 0 but... It's an intriguing question though.

Well, why not? Since it doesn't make a difference, you might as well. Just don't bother putting EVs into his HP.

Shedinja's not useless.

El Gofre March 22nd, 2008 5:31 AM

All pokemon have a value in every stat, i guess they wanted to keep it going.

Oh and agreed with air-con, shedinja's not useless. Its very difficult to use, but it can be used. Amazingly, kyogre has the most trouble with it ;)

Walrein March 22nd, 2008 7:31 AM

Pursuit eats Shedinja. So is Will-o-Wisp.

Tanro March 22nd, 2008 7:49 AM

As well as hail, sandstorm, poison gas, toxic or really any poison/ burn inflicter.

airconditioning March 22nd, 2008 8:07 AM

Which is why you don't use Shedinja when that stuff poses a threat to him. As Gofre said, he's hard to use.

El Gofre March 22nd, 2008 8:20 AM

Damn right what i said :P
It has a lot of things wrong with it, but with proper support it works. A spinner deals with Spike variants, and assuming you're not taking on a weather team, prediction means it can be a beast. As an example, The standard swords dance garchomp literally cant touch it (SD/Sub/Outrage/EQ), which is a feat in itself.
With proper support, sheddy can work well. But without a spinner and good prediction, you're gonna have serious problems

Galbinus March 22nd, 2008 11:06 AM

It really doesn't need Defense, and that's precisely the point. Nintendo probably wants those who can't quite grasp the idea of EVs to suffer. Those evil people.

Shiny Umbreon March 22nd, 2008 12:09 PM

There is one difference with having a Shedinja with defense. If you use Ditto to copy it, it becomes the same as Shedinja (Wonder Guard included), but retains its HP. If it had 0 or 1 base defense, it would be killed in one hit. That's the only thing I can think of, but its defenses are low anyway so I doubt that Ditto would resist much. =/

Meh, my only problem is that my friend refuses to remove Tyranitar from his team, and when he did... Out pops Abomasnow.
