Male Vs. Female Pokemon

Do you make it your business to get one or the other? I just realized with the exception of a miltank all my ev trained pokemon are male. I guess I do it so when I need to pass down moves I don't have to re-breed much. The only benefit to having female pokemon in terms of breeding would be to pass down the species.

Eruption March 23rd, 2008 1:09 PM

Only if I need it to evolve into a certain pokemon or for breeding.

Normally I just dont care.

Ninve March 23rd, 2008 1:41 PM

I guess it depends. I prefer pokemon like Gardevoir or Ninetailes to be females, since they are more feminine IMO.

Te-em March 23rd, 2008 1:50 PM

Many male Pokemon look better, but there are some female Pokemon that look better than the male, too.

Furanty March 23rd, 2008 2:22 PM

I think there's no difference between a female Pokémon and a male one. But my team Pokémon are often male or genderless.

Sakura-Katana March 23rd, 2008 2:27 PM

I restarted my Diamond game 10+ times so I could get a female Chimchar, so I could breed it for Chimchar offspring to put on GTS. I now have all three D/P starter Pokemon.;)

Precious Tears April 5th, 2008 6:46 AM

I catch female looking Pokemon like Pachirisu and Jigglypuff
I catch male looking Pokemon like Bagon and Machop.
But I can't imagine if Nintendo gave clothes for female Machoke and MachampX]]

Flan April 5th, 2008 8:50 AM

If it's something like a Machamp, then I would definitely make it male.
My whole team happens to be male, but that's only by chance.
I usually never care about genders.

POKEMASTERALEX April 5th, 2008 8:56 AM

lol clothes for a female machamp that would look ridiculous. haha even though there is lipstick on female wobbuffet.

Last Raven April 5th, 2008 9:02 AM

well...wobbuffet is just strange lmao
I usually try to train male pokemon,
I end up giving all the moves to them and breeding for moves becomes much simpler.

eliteaaron April 5th, 2008 9:03 AM

I like my feminie pokemon (Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Roserade, Beautifly, ect.) to be females and the masculine ones (Lucario, Dragonite, Dustox, Machoke, ect.) to be males. Otherwise IDC. :D

feminine* I hate it when I mis-spell stuff. xP

Nashton April 5th, 2008 9:40 AM

if it look like a dude then i'll try to find a male

if it look like a chick then female

if its inbetween then coin flip it

lol

Last Raven April 5th, 2008 9:47 AM

lol coin flip
great decision making tool=)

Motsuko Live April 5th, 2008 11:00 AM

I usually do the same as Ninve. if it looks more like a male, then male. If it looks more like a female, then female. But I can't see why GameFreak would have some Pokemon even able to be male or female...look at Milotic. She should DEFINATLEY only be a girl.

Cyberboy April 5th, 2008 11:16 AM

It depends on what the actual species of pokemon look like.
But usualy I like to have at least one female in my team, becuase I constantly find that my team is dominated by males, and its annoying to go up against somthing with attract to remember that all your team are the opposite sex to what's using it.

Dark Jay April 5th, 2008 11:19 AM

I just take a look at the Pokemon and think which would suit it best.

Mostly my team is male, but sometimes I get females. Seems to me that most suit male.

karanik April 5th, 2008 12:38 PM

I don't care if a pokémon is female or male. I have 2 males, 2 females and 2 genderless pokémon, it's balanced (curiously it was by chance LOL)

DaiLinn April 5th, 2008 1:24 PM

I don't have much preference unless it'll affect breeding... or in the case of Pikachu I just don't like how the females' tails look. XP

darkrai11 April 5th, 2008 1:43 PM

I think that dialga is a girl while palkia's a boy but you never know with unknown genders.

its not "unknown gender"
its genderless, its neither
it's legendary and one of a kind, and therefore cant breed.

Supreme Dirt April 5th, 2008 4:41 PM

If all of your Pokemon are the same gender, an opposite gendered Pokemon will pretty much rape your team with Attract and Captivate.

RenzokukenofCerberus April 5th, 2008 4:46 PM

Well I'm not sure if there's any merit to what I'm about to say, but I'll throw it out there.

Me personally I've come to notice that a female Pokemon usually has better defensive stats and HP than a male Pokemon. So if you're looking for an attacker I would go male, and if you want a good wall/defensive pokemon, female is prolly appropriate.

But that's just little things I've noticed, I'm not sure if there's any fact behind my statement or just really odd coincidence...

POKEMASTERALEX April 5th, 2008 4:48 PM

yeah that's a coincidence just becuase nintendo would never allocate certian stats to certian genders. You must have just ended up with pokemon that had Ivs in those stats. A lot of people think that though

Supreme Dirt April 5th, 2008 5:26 PM

There is no difference statwise between pokemon.

*EDIT* I mean different gendered Pokemon. Hit Post too quickly.

Azonic April 5th, 2008 5:29 PM

You guys are all sexists

I always get my Wobbuffets female, thats about it. Otherwise, I don't really care. :D;
