UU Team

Yeah. I'm sick and tired of OU, so, I decided to play UU. Here is my team.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba034.png
Nidoking @ Life Orb
220 spd / 200 sp.atk / 88 atk
Rash

- Megahorn
- HP [Grass]
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

Mixed lead. 2HKO's Hypno, Claydol and Grumpig (unless they have a ultra-bulky spread, like 252 hp/252 def, bold : for Hypno, I think there's no escape from the 2HKO) with Megahorn. BoltBeam hits a lot of things in UU for neutral, and HP Grass for coverage. I'm thinking to go Earth Power >> HP Grass.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba097.png
Hypno @ Leftovers
252 hp / 200 sp.def / 56 def
Calm

- Wish
- Hypnosis
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss

Special wall that can actually support the team. Hypnosis puts opponents to sleep. Reflect up and watch the horror face of the next physical attacker that comes in. Seismic Toss them to death and heal when necessary. This thing supports Meganium and Lanturn with Wish.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba171.png
Lanturn @ Leftovers
252 hp / 136 sp.def / 100 sp.atk / 20 def
Calm

- Thunder Wave
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

This thing is bulky as hell. Thunder Wave up and attempt a sweep. Should kill 1 pokemon at least. BoltBeam offers great coverage. Surf to STAB. Resists a lot of special attacks, but not physical.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba154.png
Meganium @ Leftovers
216 hp / 148 def / 144 sp.atk
Bold

- Aromatherapy
- Leech Seed
- Energy Ball
- HP Rock

Resident cleric. Can take a lot of hits too. HP Rock surprises Ice/Fire/Flying types that think they can switch safely in Energy Ball. I'm thinking of Synthesis >> Leech Seed, but Hypno already supports this with Wish, and he doesn't need more healing.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba479.png
Rotom @ Choice Specs
252 sp.atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Timid

- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- HP Fighting
- Dark Pulse

This thing SWEEPS. Hits all in UU for neutral damage. Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball for STAB. HP Fighting hits Steels / Rocks / Darks, and Dark Pulse is a filler.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba277.png
Swellow @ Flame Orb
252 atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Jolly

- Protect
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- UTurn

The resident physical sweeper here. He has some Guts. Protect lets the Flame Orb activate, and then it's sweeping. With 403 atk and 383 speed, this can attempt kills with Brave Bird / Facade. Runs away from steels and rocks with UTurn. Facade hits 210 base power with status and STAB. Powerfulness here.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba034.png
Nidoking @ Life Orb
252 Atk/174 Sp. Atk/84 Speed
Lonely

- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Thunderbolt /Fire Blast
- Ice Beam

This wants Earthquake and a better EV spread and nature.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba097.png
Hypno @ Leftovers
252 hp / 200 sp.def / 56 def
Calm

- Wish
- Hypnosis
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss

Is awesome

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba171.png
Lanturn @ Leftovers
40 HP / 192 Sp.A / 240 Sp.D / 36 Def
Calm

- Thunder Wave
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Again, is great, but WAY, WAY TOO MANY HP EVS =[, this thing has over 400, put the evs elsewhere.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba154.png
Meganium @ Leftovers
216 hp / 148 def / 144 sp.atk
Bold

- Aromatherapy
- Leech Seed
- Energy Ball
- HP Rock / Light Screen /Synthisis

Consider the last two

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba479.png
Rotom @ Choice Specs / Life Orb / Leftovers
252 sp.atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Timid

- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- HP Fighting
- Trick / Will-o-wisp / Charge beam /Toxic / Reflect / Light Screen

Dark Pulse is fail, it has the same coverage as Ghost =[. Trick Specs is nice, although you can put a life orb or Leftovers on this thang and choose another move for the last slot that isnt Trick.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmba/dpmba277.png
Swellow @ Flame Orb
252 atk / 252 spd / 4 hp
Jolly

- Protect
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- U - Turn

Is beastly lol, caonsider Pursuit on this aswell

Changes and suggestions are in bold. No physical wall is disappointing, Torkoal w/Rest/Stealth RocK or Toxic/Rapid Spin/Lava Plume and Meganium work well together

Not an expert on UU threats, so youll have to ask someone else, i use alot of these pokes in OU, but i dont battle in UU lol XD

TP-BigWill March 26th, 2008 9:16 PM

Im impressed with the fact that you aquired a wish hypno.

As for threats. In the Uu circuit, there are 2 beasts to watch for. Mold Breaker Pinsir and Choice Scarf Relicanth. Trust me..,......both hit hard. Although the fish is way more common then pinsir, a person packing a jolly SD pinsir might get a really fast sweep With EQ/ x-scizzors/ CC. So its reccomended to get another fast blaster to accompany Rotom. Possibly a frosslass or a Golduck.

Very solid team, although you went a bit heavy on walls. If you ever want a Uu battle, Im a pm away
btw didnt Swellow move up to Bl?

Ársa March 27th, 2008 1:14 AM

Choice Scarf Relicanth....lol

Relicanth even with Choice Scarf is outsped and KO'd by many common pokemon in UU. Choice Band under a Trick Room is beastly.

Overkill on walls? I don't think so, not when he doesn't have a Physical Wall to speak of...

I like:

[email protected]
Impish
252 HP, 252 Def, 6 Atk

Rapid Spin
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Stealth Rock / Night Slash

I actually think he might have... though, this team is exceptional for a UU team. This sorta makes me want to construct a UU team lol. I'm sick of seeing Blissey every other match. >>;

Ársa March 27th, 2008 3:55 AM

By no standards is this team exceptional...

Scarfape / Bandape rips through this team when running:

U-Turn/Earthquake/Stone Edge/Close Combat

LethalTexture March 27th, 2008 4:23 AM

That's all well and good, TS, but I don't think that Infernape is UU =D

Ársa March 27th, 2008 4:27 AM

lol... Primeape :P:P:P

P.S. btw, I added you to my friends list, I cannot believe you weren't there before Deano :P

~T_S

LethalTexture March 27th, 2008 4:31 AM

Well that would explain alot :P

My mistake, chaps. Carry on.

True that, but unless your packing a pokemon with a speed faster than 320ish(which arent many on the Uu list without scarf) Relicanth wails on opponents with no-recoil head smash.

Honestly, it slowed me down first time I saw it. But Trick Room is a common counter for every fast poke.

Ársa March 28th, 2008 4:42 AM

No, I mean Relicanth with Trick Room support is far better than Choice Scarf. Even better would be Swift Swim Relicanth with Choice Band, although the lack of viable Head Smash is a shame... :(

~T_S

TP-BigWill March 28th, 2008 4:59 AM

oh absolutly in that case.

but its a shame that TR is limited time though.

But if you bulk up a defensive Canth with Rock head in TR...that's a quick sweep.

Ársa March 28th, 2008 5:09 AM

[email protected] Band
Adamant
252 HP, 252 Atk, 6 Def
Rock Head

Head Smash
Earthquake
Waterfall
Double-Edge

Pure Pwnsome.

It's a nice team, but as they said a Pimeape can easily take down your whole team. Try Quagsire instead of lanturn, that way you can take electric attacks and your other pokemon can easily take grass types.

Kayke™ April 1st, 2008 4:48 AM

That's actually a good idea, though, I do like Lanturn a lot, with his massive HP. He's probably one of the better UU's out there.

Lanturn has volt absorb, so he gains HP from electric hits.

sims796 April 1st, 2008 5:40 AM

I don't see the severe Primape weaakness, and she REALLY has nothing to fear from Grass attacks.

Sora_8920 April 1st, 2008 2:12 PM

ST is pretty gimmicky on Hypno, go Psychic > ST.

HP Fire > HP Rock on Meganium.

But you really don't have a Fighting OR a Grass Weakness. ;)

BB takes away your HP fast without Roost, also AP again does not help this team with a Flame Orber on it. ._.

Also, Bulky Lanturn is just a lower tier Starmie. Go Modest with 4 HP / 252 Spe / 252 SpA.

Without Instart Recovery, all things can wittle you dwon fast when Wish fades away, also you have nothing to worry about going Synthesis for, as there's no weather changers.

Hypo can learn BP BTW, so that's an option.

My knowledge is sub-par on Nidoking, so I'll leave him alone.

Team looks pretty fine otherwise in general.
