Stupid people in Global trade area

im Sick of all the people who offer something like a level 1 chimchar for a level60 rare pokemon if you aggre scribble back. i think it is just stupid

PokeGod March 27th, 2008 2:06 AM

I agree, it isnt fair aswell

fishyfins March 27th, 2008 2:30 AM

its all i ever find. ive yet to find a sensible trade. its why i dont go on the system

Naito March 27th, 2008 2:32 AM

It's not fair in most cases because of idiots.

But sometimes it's worth while, incase the Chimchar you used as an example has a good nature, IVs, it's untouched, and Egg Moves.

I do agree that the GTS is flawed in that respect. It's filled with people you expect something for literally nothing. But, I think I've got it figured out so I can get what I want. And it's not all bad - if you look, you can find decent trades. It's mostly the 'in-demand' Pokemon like starters or the such that usually have the crazy deals.

Patience is key, being quick at shifting through the offers also helps (hate that you have to switch out and in...).
Then, find some Pokemon that are in demand, and breed them, for instance starters. Use these to trade for things you want, and as long as the trade isn't too unreasonable, you'll get what you want, as your deal would be fantastic compared to the others. Check what people want generally besides the legends or level 100 Magikarps to see what people want - does change from time to time.

Work your way up - breed the stuff you get for 'higher' things. Attach items like berries that you have multiples of that are rare. It works for me - I usually end up with what I want sooner or later. There's always the one-off 'easy' trade where someone offers something good for a easy-to-get thing - or a 'demand Pokemon' - that needs some luck however.

Or, just use the Wi-Fi and FC's - that works too and is definately simpler. :)

Yes, that's one way they could improve the next versions of DS Pokemon games. BUT, have you ever heard of the cloning process? People may just be trying to clone their Pokemon. If not, then they really must not be very smart, because no one is going to trade them a level 100 Azelf for a level 18 Budew.
I think Nintendo should somehow fix that, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut seeing as I have no idea how they would do it :P That's why I trade over Wi-Fi most of the time, so I can speak to the people online first, get offers/give offers and away we go. I could trade you that Chimchar if you wanted. (if you were even looking for a Chimchar lol, not sure). If so, PM me and I'll see what I can do.

i also had a lot of unfair trades but in a way i gained by it. last year may, when the game was just new, there were amazing pokemon coming over from japan. i guess gamers over there wanted to be nice. they've send me pokenon that were well trained, ribbon winning, pkrs-affected, etc. but yea, now the first hype is gone and the global trading sucks (normally my lv1 charmander which i have up for nintetales would be gone in 1 hour, now its there for 2 days), use forums instead

I AR Cloned my Lv.100 Deoxys, Palkia, ect. And traded like crazy. I got quite a few Japanese Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, and Japanese Shiny Pokemon that way XD

Also, People asked for Lv.100 Munchlax, and that's what I gave them XD

SonicTheBoom March 27th, 2008 7:09 AM

It's is a bit of a problem. I only use it to give away starters I've breed (I have all twelve), to get pokemon I don't have on my dex, or ones that I've already seen.

El Gofre March 27th, 2008 7:14 AM

To be honest, it's up to the trader what they ask for. They arent gonna put it up for cheap just because asking for what they want might offend people and trigger irrational threads, they put their pokes in to get pokes they want back. That is, after all, the purpose of the GTS.

i agree that a lot of the trades are illogical, but u just gotta look for the good ones. i saw a level 100 purugly on there for a female glameow, any. needless to say, i now have a lv. 100 purugly. so the good trades are out there, u just gotta look for em.
