I have Mean Look, but the Pokemon isnt fast enough. I have given it X-Speed to hold. How else can I increase my speed to get the first hit (Mean Look) in without leveling up or buying Carbos at 10K each?

Im not sure speed is a prob.... I think mine is faster but it always flees. I cant even get a single hit in...

Help please

Train it up, that's a way, another way is give it a quick claw.

What is quick claw? ,

White Dragon ZB March 27th, 2008 8:53 AM

A Hold item that allows the pokemon to attack faster.

Looony March 27th, 2008 9:01 AM

So whats the difference between X-Speed and Quick Claw?

White Dragon ZB March 27th, 2008 9:03 AM

I'm not positive, but I believe that it also alows the user the first move. Let me check, I think I have one.

Get a diglett or dugtrio with arena trap, or a wobufffet and have them lead your party.

Naito March 27th, 2008 10:57 AM

Quick Claw I think increases your speed or the priority of your moves.

For Mean Look, do any of these:

Get an Eevee from Swarms or the woman that gives you one. Evolve it into an Umbreon, and I think by the 40s or 50s, it should learn Mean Look. Catch a Ghastly, evolve into Haunter. After a couple more levels, it should learn ML. Golbat, train it until it learns ML.

However, you could always get a Dugtrio or a Wobuffett like the person above me suggested. Arena Trap should keep it in there, unless it by any chance knows Whirlwind, Roar, or Teleport (they're not likely for Mespirit to know, though).

All the things that other people had said works, but I would just simply teach it to a Golbat or Gengar.

LegendaryPokeBreeder March 29th, 2008 3:35 AM

if you go to stark mountain there are high level golbats in there like lvls 52 and tht. catch one of those, if they dont have mean look go to the city where the great marsh is... (i cant remember the name) and in one of the houses a man can reteach moves :D and there you have it easssssy :P :D

Here's a list with pokémon that learn Mean Look (Final Evo's):

- Crobat
- Jynx
- Gengar
- Umbreon
- Murkrow
- Misdreavus
- Dusknoir

Also, their pre-evo's learn Mean Look too.
I'd recommend Golbat/Crobat or Murkrow/Misdreavus.

Quick Claw gives about... 10% chance that your Pokémon attacks first, so it's not really worth it and it's all based on luck.

Dunsparce March 29th, 2008 4:46 AM

A Crobat with Mean Look + Hypnosis Works wonders

-Arena Trap doesn't work on Mesprit Because it has Levitate

-X Speed IS NOT a hold Item. You use up a turn during battle to select it from your Backpack raise your Pokemon's Speed one level.

-Quick Claw only works 10% of the time, so it's quite Unreliable.

-Block and Spider Web are two other Moves that trap the opponent.

The difference is, X-speed doesn't do anything while held. You actually have to use it on the Pokemon.

Quick claw however, can be held and it will be used occasionally by the holder.

Matt-O March 29th, 2008 6:37 AM

Here's how I got Mesprit, attack it every time you find it, give it a status problem, and when it's at low health you throw a Quick ball every time you run into it. It won't recover any damage you do so just be careful not to kill it.

solopy567 March 29th, 2008 7:55 AM

Whats i did is evolve a globat into crobat...It gives him a big increase in speed and also learns mean look....This should work for Mesprit pretty good as long he doesnt make crobat faint
