Water Themed Team : RMT

I've always been passionate about water-types, and I know that themed teams usually fail in copetitive battling. But this team is just for fun that I will probably use on PBR's Wi-Fi. So bear that in mind when you rate. It's a Water-type Rain team, I guess. Most of them are pretty standard, except for my own variant of DDGyara, which works in my current team, but it may not in this one. I may replace Suicune because it's gonna be a pain to get my hands on a good one.

Kingdra (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 120 HP/138 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Rain Dance
- Surf/Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]/Draco Meteor

Rain starter. Undecided on whether to strain myself and breed for HP Electric, or just be lazy and get Draco Meteor.
---
Gyarados (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Physical Sweeper. Again, my own variant. If I should rebreed for the standard DDGyara then I will.
---
Ludicolo (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 204 HP/104 Spd/78 SAtk/124 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Leech Seed
- Grass Knot

Tank thing. Takes any Electric moves that my team draws very well.
---
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/216 Spd/122 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump/Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

Standard Bulkystar I think, hm?
---
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Surf
- Rest
- Roar

Teh beast. Also pretty standard I believe, but like I say, it's gonna be a pain to find a good one.
---
Empoleon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/6 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Stealth Rock

Special Wall. Standard again. Yeah, I'm unimaginative =/
---

All critisism accepted. The two in this team that could be replaced are Gyara, because I use him in my standard team so I don't wanna see too mkuch of him, and Suicune, as stated. Suggestions for replacements welcomed.

- Surf/Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]/Draco Meteor

Rain starter. Undecided on whether to strain myself and breed for HP Electric, or just be lazy and get Draco Meteor.

Standard I suppose, but why so much speed? You only need 16 spd EV's to outspeed everything under the sun clouds.
---
Gyarados (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 112 HP/252 Atk/144 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Dance

Physical Sweeper. Again, my own variant. If I should rebreed for the standard DDGyara then I will.

The idea of DDGyara is to be able to take hits decently. You only need 144 Speed to outspeed things like Timid Gengar and Adamant Weavile after 1DD, so pump the rest into something more productive, like HP. Stone Edge over EQ please. It's SE on Fire, Rock, Electric etc, which are basically covered by Waterfall/Stone Edge.

Ludicolo (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 204 HP/104 Spd/78 SAtk/124 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Leech Seed
- Grass Knot

Tank thing. Takes any Electric moves that my team draws very well.

Yeah, OK.

Starmie @ Leftovers

- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin

Yah, and Surf over Hydro Pump here plesh. ;)
---
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Surf
- Rest
- Roar

Teh beast. Also pretty standard I believe, but like I say, it's gonna be a pain to find a good one.

You are just giving yourself another Electric weakness. Rain Dance teams need some sort of support for those fast electric types or set-uppers like Raikou. Remove this for something that can withstand electric attacks.
---
Empoleon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/6 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Stealth Rock

Special Wall. Standard again. Yeah, I'm unimaginative =/

Blissey is still better in Rain than anything else. :P Empoleon just gives you another weakness, and doesn't do that much for your team.

Ok, edits in bold and stuff. Standard weak is Electric types, but you already know that. Blissey is good over Empoleon, and think about removing Suicune. Jolteon can be your Roar'er, and can sponge the electric attacks, just a thought.

Well, this team is more of a Water-type team than a Rain Dance team, so I'd like all my Pokemon to be water type. I was thinking about replacing Suicune with Vaporeon, but as you say that doesn't help with the Electric weakness. I need a Pokemon that is good at taking Physical hits but isn't weak to Electric. I also need a good moveset for a DD Feraligatr, who I am going to replace Gyara with.

There are always the basics: Forretress, Donphan etc.

Other than that, Zapdos (Roar), Electivire, Jolteon, Dugtrio (Great in this situation).

I would say "See Ooka for Feraligatr", but he would get back to you too late.

Adamant
28 HP, 252 Atk, 228 Spd

Dragon Dance
Ice Punch
Waterfall
Earthquake

A good moveset for feraligatr is

Ice Fang
Aqua Tail
Crunch
Surf

No, it's not. For starters, he wanted a Dragon Dance Feraligatr. Second, that has 2 Water attacks, one of which is a Special Typed attack (Not Ideal) and the other is almost always outclassed by Waterfall. Ice Fang is bettered by Ice Punch, and Earthquake hits stuff better than Crunch overall, but it is an option I suppose...

Oh yes, I've had one or two experiences against Ooka's 'gatr. Could Cursepert work in place of Suicune? Absorbs electric attacks at the cost of a 4x Grass weakness.

Ársa April 1st, 2008 4:21 AM

Hmmm, but then Celebi lol's at it and Gyara. If you like you can use it. Also, I would much rather a second Rain Dancer. You can make Ludicolo one and remove Leech Seed. Kingdra is too frail to be your only supplier. Ludi does a fine job. Bronzong is a common lead for Rain teams.

Meh. I like T-Wave Gyara. It could always work well for things that outspeed Swift Swim.

Also, Lefties / Life Orb > Focus Sash on Gyara.

I'd also run Ice Beam / HP electric in that last slot, since 1.) You're running Calm Mind. 2.) Bulky Waters will just LOL at you. 3.) Spikes is just better to run Roar with, overall. This team doesn't really require SR anyways.

For some reason, my screen shows everyone as a moderator ._. (including myself)

I wouldn't really count on Focus Sash on Gyarados, I've seen a Gyarados survive a Thunderbolt from a Starmie before... Leftovers is certainly the way to go with it. (Sometimes, I'd put Wacan Berry on Gyarados.. but then I also went with Light Screen)

Focus Sash on a Gyarados... just seems risky, you are unable to take out Gyarados with the opponent is not using a Ground-based move.

April Fools Day, dude. And have a good one. ;)

But I'd really go Surf over Hydro Pump on BulkyStar.
