Calling Pokémon through the mic

Just read on a big Dutch Pokémon forum about a moderator who was frustrated about not finding the Pokémon he was looking for, then shouted its name and yes, there it was. He claims it works for all Pokémon that should be in a certain area... His argument is that Brain Training also recognises words, just like most cell phones. Everyone is trying it out now, some say it works, some say it doesn't.

really... that should be helpfull with chaining lol... i might try that to see if its true

FourFourTwo March 30th, 2008 4:42 PM

I dont think this is true. Ive heard stuff ranging from if you yell GOTCHYA!, it automatically catches it, but nothing works.

Mr.Roserade March 30th, 2008 4:45 PM

Whoa I never heard anything like that, im gong to go try tho XD

Super Puppy March 30th, 2008 6:28 PM

I doubt that it works. The game isn't coded to respond to your voice individually, and it would have to be changed for different languages as well. If it does work for some people some of the time, it's most likely just luck.

BakingBluePotatoe March 30th, 2008 8:24 PM

probobly just random luck xDD

bobandbill March 30th, 2008 8:56 PM

Methinks it was just coincidence, really. The game is not programmed to recongize vioces and words - if it had, than we would have found out when the hackers went through the game coding and found out the other things, such as a third sprite for Shellos, or the 'Johto/Kanto' info that points to a 'better' chance at a GSC remake...

Dumb luck I say. Either that, or the Dutch do April Fools a day early ;)

the name thing doesn't work but saying gotcha does. Nintendo even had it in a hint guide of theirs. Look it on th internet you might find it.

Ayano Katagiri March 31st, 2008 2:06 AM

There is no sufficient evidence that saying "gotcha" increases the chances of catching a Pokemon... it's very, very, very, very likely yet another rumour put out there. And I also highly doubt that saying an English phrase in the Japanese version of the game, which I have, will actually do anything.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed in how D/P majorly disregarded the mic. I was hoping for something more than Voice Chat and Perrapu's Chatter attack. It would have been nice being able to send Pokemon out just via the mic.

I think it is just luck that people have said t he name ten the next one has been that exact Pokemon. I mean they are on the route that it should appear on so there is no reason why you say the name then you run into that pokemon.

I agree that D/P didn't use the mic well. I haven't even done the Perrapu Chatter attack thing. I don't really see the point to it and I never use voice chat either.

Kylo March 31st, 2008 3:35 AM

Well, now I just gotta try this out! I'll report back if I find that any voice commands work.

Shiny Umbreon March 31st, 2008 1:25 PM

No proof about that and very unlikely, too. I guess it's safe to assume there's no point in having this thread open.
