Absol and Dusclops questions

I'm new to all this and need help.

I wasted my aerial ace tm on vigaroth. Is it possible for me to breed it AND baton pass onto an absol?

what do you do to get baton pass on absol anyway?

Is baton pass even good on absol? with what moveset?

Whats a good dusclops moveset? Does duskull get pressure when it evolves or do you have to breed a duskull with pressure?

thanks

Frostweaver July 20th, 2004 9:07 PM

Duskull always have levitate. When they evolve, all Dusclops will lose it for pressure. I posted out Dusclops's standard moveset in your other thread already so I'll ignore that one...

As for Absol... I really dislike aerial ace. You may want AA to cover fighting weakness, but most brick break users are not fighting type besides Blaziken?

Absol- [speed + / sp.atk -] @ lum berry
EV: Atk and speed
-swords dance
-shadowball
-HP Physical/baton pass/perish song
-return

Meh... I still doubt that Absol can survive to baton pass sometimes...

Absol is one of the better Baton Passers. They can learn Double Team and Swords Dance normally.

Yes, it is possible to breed Aerial Ace onto Absol. The beauty of TMs is, anyone who can learn the TM normally, can have the move bred onto a Pokemon. This is great if you want to use a TM on multiple Pokemon. However, only a male Pokemon can pass moves along this way, so if your Vigoroth is female, that's one you've lost basically. At least, until you get a Ditto. In which case, you have to hope the new Slakoth is male as well, and has Aerial Ace.

If you want both Aerial Ace and Baton Pass, you'll need to breed a female Absol, with a male that knows those two moves.

Suggestion for an Absol moveset

Absol @ Leftovers
Aerial Ace
Baton Pass
Double Team
Swords Dance

Double Team up for delay and use the time to Swords Dance as well. Leftovers should heal any successful hits, and then Pass onto a physical sweeper, or use Aerial Ace for a guaranteed attack. Good to counter any Fighting types, and just plain annoying with Double Team

Pressure, is an ability, not a move. Any Dusclops will have it when it evolves, so no need to worry about learning it or not. Can't suggest a moveset cos I've never used one.

Hope that helps somewhat

however, Absol doesn't have the defense to last so long to survive the buff up process before it gets slaughtered... it can learn a lot of things to pass on, but it lacks the stats to do the passing.

Also to add on top of my previous suggestion, quick attack is also a good attack over return to finish off reversal/flail users, or other salac/petaya/liechi abusers.

Toothache July 20th, 2004 9:29 PM

Yeah, that's why Double Team is the best bet to start with.

Xilion_Sword90 July 21st, 2004 5:24 AM

Absol used Double Team!
Absol's Envaisivness goes up!
Skarmory used Spikes!
Spikes were scattered!

3 Turns later...

Absol used Double Team!
Absol's Envaisivness goes up!
Skarmory used Whirlwind!
Absol was Blown away!

...

Yeah, but the same can be said of any pseudohazer :-p

Hmm, ok. You know what, I'm gonna just forget absol and use ninjask for baton passing.
Hows this for it: double team, protect, (some offensive move), baton pass

I'm likely going to be passing to a staller (dusclops). I read in the guide about the pressure/double team combo thats hard to counter.

So now I think dusclops should have: toxic/will 0 wisp, mean look, rest, ??

Whats better, toxic or will o wisp?

Yeah, I like the idea of ninjask better than absol...now I can keep my sharpedo on my team.
(His moveset, by the way, is surf, earthquake, crunch, ice beam....good?)

Sorry this is getting long, but now that I'm pretty much decided on three team members (ninjask, dusclops, sharpedo) can someone suggest three more? (preferably cool looking ones)

Simon July 21st, 2004 9:57 AM

Sharpedo's moveset is horrible. It has high Attack and Speed stats, so build off of that. I wouldn't know a moveset for Sharpedo...it's something I don't perfer to use.

The Dusclops you have looks more like a Trapper to me. I'd say Will-O-Wisp since being burned also lowers your opponents Attack power. The last move can be Night Shade or Confuse Ray I guess.

Ninjask is easy. Subsitute, Silver Wind, Baton Pass, Swords Dance. Give it Leftovers or some kind of stat raising berry. Keep subbing and Ninjask will gain a lot of Speed. If the subby is ever alive, Dance or use Sivler Wind. Simple?

Frostweaver July 21st, 2004 2:48 PM

well it's not horrible... as Sharpedo's special attack isn't that terrible at all...

Sharpedo- [speed + / def -] @ lum berry/1.1 booster
EV: atk, speed
-hydro pump
-earthquake
-HP Physical
-return

Double team on anything but Shuckle/Umbreon kinda sucks... 1 double team is only 1/4 which is only 25% evasion... it's still very easy to hit. Even at 6 double team it's 67% evasion (that's equal to the chances of sheer cold hitting a Pokemon without bonus evasion). So really double team is quite useless on paper. Though I really think that the ratio is a lot worse than just 1/3 hit, because it seems more like 1/8 to me... meh. In conclusion, double team sucks on anything that can't tank.

Toxic does do more damage, but steel types are unaffected by it. Burn reduces the opponent's attack power by half (yes it's equal to 1 charm!) along with damage... and so little Pokemon has water veil... my choices goes to... will o wisp! ^_^

As for Ninjask, just use Demonchaos916's suggestion.. it's the standard, and one of the only Ninjask out there. The only choice you really got is to switch out Silver wind or aerial ace, or HP Physical.
