Sandstorm Double Battle Team
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream Nature: Adamant EVs: Attack 252, Speed 252, HP 6 -Dragon Dance -Crunch/Taunt -Rockslide -Earthquake Obvious, pretty standard, and the necessary center of the team. I chose Rockslide over Stone Edge for accuracy and it's double battle advantage. I am still undecided about Crunch or Taunt. Togekiss @ Bright Powder Ability: Serene Grace Nature: Calm EVs: Defense 252, Sp. Defense 252, HP 6 -Follow Me -Wish -Encore -Aura Sphere/any other special attack I have Aura Sphere on it at the moment, but in all honesty it'll likely never attack. Any better Item ideas? Claydol @ ? Ability: Levitate Nature: Careful EVs: HP 252, Sp. Defense 252, Defense 6 -Stealth Rock -Rapid Spin -Sandstorm -Toxic Utility/Support Claydol. I'll likely replace the KO'd Togekiss with this. It dodges Earthquake via Levitate, avoids Sandstorm damage, and has a variety of sweeping support options. It's a pretty serious Special Wall which is the type of attack I'm most afraid of even though it's still weak to ice, water, and grass. I need a good item for it. Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash Ability: Pressure Nature: Jolly EVs: Attack 252, Speed 252, HP 6 -Rock Slide -Aerial Ace -Thunder Fang/Crunch -Roar? I envisioned this aerodactyl as a kind of support sweeper to assist either tyranitar or rhyperior which is why it doesn't have Earthquake. It's fast enough to play cleanup on basically anything that doesn't get OHKO'd by the other two. I'm undecided about the third move-slot. I'm deathly afraid of water types, obviously, which is why I am considering Thunder Fang, but it's really underpowered for a non-STAB move... And I have Roar which is useful, but that was before I realized that it makes you go last which is very detrimental to Aerodactyl usage so I'm not sure about that either. Rhyperior @ Wide Lens Ability: Solid Rock Nature: Adamant EVs: Attack 252, Defense 252, HP 6 -Earthquake -Rock Slide -Mega Horn -Hammer Arm Standard sweeping and Physical wall action. Wide Lens to help with the accuracy of Rock Slide, Mega Horn, and Hammer Arm since Leftovers is already taken. Replacement for Tyranitar. I'm actually debating changing this to a Garchomp. Jirachi @ ? Ability: Serene Grace Nature: Modest EVs: Sp. Attack 252, Speed, HP 6 -Thunderbolt -Psychic -Wish/Healing Wish -Thunder Wave It resists Sandstorm, isn't weak to Water and Fighting, resists Ice and Grass and is a much needed special attacker. It learns a powerful and much needed thunderbolt to counter water types as well as a STAB Psychic to KO Fighters that threaten Tyranitar and Rhyperior. I need an item here as well. I realize the severity of my Ice and Water weakness... Grass I'm not so nervous about as a team threat... so I am considering a possible replacement. Empoleon stands out with its 1/4 resistance to Ice and 1/2 resistance to water, but it will be susceptible to the Earthquakes from my own team unless it brings protect. And it has no real way to counter opposing water types other than Grass Knot or Hidden Power. I've also considered Probopass with Magnet Rise which also learns Thunderbolt. Anyways, work in progress; thanks in advance. |
Overall, it's a well constructed team, though I don't really like Tyranitar as a lead since he's not really meant for that sort of work.
If you're really looking for a good Pokemon, I'd suggest Swampert. Resists sandstorm, resists thunder type attacks that would hurt Aero and Togekiss, and is a great Stealth Rock user. |

you cover them but Breloom will own you. My idea use Gliscor or Weezing. A Garchomp will be amazing on Sandstorm, and a Swampert will be amazing here |
Aye, but Focus Band is ALSO a hax item. Focus Sash on a cleanup sweeper will give it a second chance if it doesn't do it the first time.
Thunder in a Sandstorm is questionable; I think it drops it to 50%, but unsure. If it does, bolt will prove better with a Calm/Sassy nature (Zen Headbutt pending). Wide Lens on Rhyperior isn't so bad if it's supposed to tank. I mean...it'll make every move almost a guaranteed hit. Life Orb will just make it kill itself faster, despite that big power boost...I dunno; Attacker or tank, pick the item respectively. Claydol is fun. Run Ice Beam to deal with other ground types that'll take over your sandstorm, and even Grass Knot as an option to deal with some waters. Dang, you can go even stranger and go Charge Beam if you can take some hits. I'm just throwing random suggestions out there. Spinning is also rather needed (with Claydol). If you REALLY wanna stretch it and hope for big results, keep that Togekiss moveset. If it can tank well enough, it'll give your attackers some real time to shine. However, with this team, it's a little awkward with that Ice weakness. I do understand what it's supposed to do for the team. Cloud posted a pretty nice one. o god...DD Taunting Tar is a beast when used right. However, with two targets, Taunting may be less effective. Consider the following pokemon: Gliscor, Hippowdon, Swampert (Mixed set perhaps), and Garchomp. These can be subs to your team. Gliscor is first on the list because he puts the hurting on Breloom if you pick A. Ace and Quake or something close to that. From the looks, only Jirachi and Aerodactyl (as revenge) are capable of stopping Breloom. |
Right I forget about the 50% accuracy, And I also forget that Follow me can be good on 2vs2, anyways I like more PlotterKiss but sorrry about what I say of your move set. Anyways It's pretty dangerous 2 Sweepers/Tanks can finish out your Toge before a Roost.
Edit-T_T When I put focus band I wanted to say Choice Band BIG Mistake by my side sorry... |
Yeah the Togekiss is questionable with the major ice weakness. Mixed Swampert would be better as a tank or Gliscor with dealing with Breloom and resisting quakes.
CB revenge Aerodactyl doesn't go so well together, but it can get those stragglers with more health. I dunno anymore...it's been a month since I battled (which is why Loto is now the leader of The Generation.) or done anything with pokemon. |
