Just a little curious, anyone else had this problem?

I've had my DS for about a year now i guess.
And the shoulder button(L) no longer works.
My friends had the same problem.
Anyone else noticed this?

FourFourTwo April 3rd, 2008 5:15 PM

My "A" button gets stuck. :(

It sucks when I try and play games like mario, and occasionally, I hit the wrong move in pokemon. :(

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 5:20 PM

I never used it that much beside to favors but i can no longer use my AR lol

Umanouski April 3rd, 2008 5:28 PM

yea, nintendo did not build these to last

The clips that hold the top screen broke off on my first one.

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 5:35 PM

wow that's REALLY bad lol

airconditioning April 3rd, 2008 5:46 PM

Now that I think about it, the same thing happened to a friend of mine.

My L button is still fine, though. Unfortunately, Elite Beat Agents completely destroyed my touch screen. :(

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 5:54 PM

i miss my L button...if i had a 3-pronged screwdriver chances are i could fix it myself...but im fresh outta those lol

Azonic April 3rd, 2008 5:58 PM

It happens to everyone, I guess. My buttons are still fine... DS buttons, I mean. <<;

The clips that connect the two screens are starting to crack on mine.

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 6:01 PM

this is the first ive really heard of clips cracking...i suppose its a somewhat common problem too.

Well, I can't say I've experienced any problems (with my 1 week old DS Lite) but I can say that I'm happy with it. I dropped it on a very hard floor from about 1.5m up and still there were no scratches. This is a Black DS so I'm surprised.

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 6:17 PM

Mine has survived being dropped...but the age is whats getting to it..over use of the L-button maybe?
I'm gonna see about getting it fixed.

Hadim Sinan Pasha April 3rd, 2008 6:31 PM

Well if you're talking about age, my friends DS from like, 2006 is still in good condition. The start button gets stuck a bit but that's nothing you really use in-game. Besides, if you did use it, it wouldn't affect your gameplay much. Change the configuration of the L button if you're not happy with it. Mine is usually L=A or the one on my GBA where L+R can be used for going through your bag or PKMN Party.

Naito April 3rd, 2008 7:03 PM

Yea, on my old DS, the L, R, X, Y buttons didn't work. I could pretty much only play the GBA Pokemon games. Now, I traded that in (... I feel kind of sorry for the poor soul who has that DS now) and got the Black DS Lite. Works like a charm, though the touch screen is always so dirty no matter what I do...

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 7:05 PM

I use my L button for my AR however
I don't massively cheat, but i get TMs and other items and distribute them
I don't use like wonderguard shiny spiritombs or crap like that...all my training is done fairly
But i still do favors for my friends which is hard without an L button!

BakingBluePotatoe April 3rd, 2008 7:12 PM

the power button is a bit loose... sometimes I gotta hold it down for a couple seconds before it shuts of... but other than that, it works fine.

I've had mine since Christmas of... 2006, was it? (mine was in a Bundle with Sonic Rush)

and yeah, my AR isn't being recognised, but my others seem to be fine ('cept for my Yoshi's Island/SMA3 game, but I had that problem on my GBA too, so I'm not TOO worried...)

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 7:18 PM

yea i think this ones from january or february of 2007 so not a whole lot younger...and i bought it used.

Something like that is with my GBA SP.

What happens is that you have to switch it on, then slightly switch it off, not all the way, only around halfway. You have to do it perfectly, or else it won't turn on. Quite annoying, actually.

Last Raven April 3rd, 2008 7:26 PM

Yea that just sounds annoying.
btw AExcalibur
nice sig, it looks nice as heck...i gotta actually work on a good one still lol

urban_guerrilla April 5th, 2008 9:00 AM

I have the old fracture on the hinge, which is annoying but doesn't cause any problems, and the top of the DS is scuffed after I dropped the thing onto a concrete floor... Works fine though. ^^
