Yawn...I hate school. No time to write, even in English. Astinus, we had to read Dracula recently, and I never finished it. It's awfully slow and thick, and the epistolary style throws one right off. I hated it.
On a side not, my FLASH DRIVE got WIPED. AGAIN. *cries* All fanfics, gooooone. *cries* |
Quote:
Ladies and gents, I bring you The PC Fanfiction Index. Hopefully I'm doing okay. ^^; And Kenji, that sucks. I remember when I lost my flashdrive and many of my fanfics were in there. >.> Luckily I had some drafts of NE saved in my email, but I had to write the entirety of both Chapters Five and Six. -_- |
Ah okay, well I added to it ;)
Hmmm I was looking for 'Thriller' Genre, but went with Horror anyway ;) (yes there is a difference :P) |
Guys, we have ten stickies in the Writer's Lounge.
Ten. TEN. TEN. TEN! TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. My laptop's dying, so it's probably going to overheat and explode soon. So I know how you feel about technology, Kenji. It's horrible when it doesn't work in your favor. But it makes life easier in so many ways, while making life suck in so many ways. Also, you get another glomp for also reading Dracula. *glomp* Also also also also also also also also also also also. And and and and and and and and and and and. txteclipse, I Youtubed the song (Daft Punk is after my time), but...well, my laptop is almost on fire. Daft Punk also isn't the kind of music I listen to, so I don't know how I'll fit it into the musical, but I'll give them another better chance when there's no chance of fire. Also, I feel really proud as punch about myself for writing four pages today. Quote:
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes You're paralyzed 'Cause this is thriller, thriller night And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike You know it's thriller, thriller night You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight |
Well, I stuck my oneshot in there. ;D
Gotta go, sorry! EDIT: Ten stickies! Yay! Or...nay? That's good, right? |
Jeeze Asti, you need a laptop cooling system thingy :P
I got one for mine, and it has come in useful, though because it is a bit off the ground, I've used it less, because the ventilation is better. |
Quote:
*bricked for mini-modding and generally being self-righteous tonight, what with that new post in Reviewing and You* Quote:
Also, sorry to hear about your flash drive, Kenji. O_x So soon after it happened the first time, too. At that point, and I mean this seriously, maybe Bay's idea is probably better, especially if you've got GMail. Edit: Incidentally, guys, I found a new way to occupy myself: start on my own last visitors listing (that little thing in the corner of my profile) and keep going until I hit a regular to this thread. Man, I need a life. |
lol I like how midnight for me, is like active hour here atm. Though I usually don't go to bed until 2-3am work day or not >.>
|
Quote:
*shot for very lame joke* ...that Thriller bit right there...reminds me that I need to get started on my Thriller spoof- Filler xD And why MUST THE FIRST CHAPTER OF A FIC BE SO DARN HARD TO WRITE!?!??!? GRRRR! *pulls out hair* And also...that sucks about you flash drive, Kenji o_o |
Quote:
Which probably explains a lot for me. ...The hell are you people doing still awake? Also, as a follow up to this: Quote:
|
Hey... ten stickies. Go Lounge!!!!
Quote:
Yay almost 200 posts! Most of them useless! (I've been exposed to this select group of people for so long... thanks, everyone! :classic: I SO MUCH enjoy being here) Uh, Kenji, sorry about your flashdrive. You know, Bay's got hit the nail with the e-mail storage there. I'm doing collateral backup in a floppy disk --- yes a floppy disk stop laughing! --- just because I feel I need to use the poor little floppy bay for something after four years. ODF rules for story storage! But now that I think about it, I should go with personal storage too. And optical, just in case the pharmaceutics cabal here decided to nuke country in pre-retaliation for the next ten lawuits and more with H1N1 making them look even more guilty. I wouldn't use email for backups purely for privacy reasons (GMail, NSA and stuff), but, hey, I'm only paranoid because they're after me. :knockedou On another note, yay! Almost 200 posts! Did I mention that already? EDIT: ninjaed for a change. It's 02:13 am here, I should be sleeping and recovering over 16 hours of sleep debt but I know I wont so why do I worry... |
Haha yeah... those genres and subgenres can be confusing (don't even get me started with music, or someone will have to be hurt).
From your description of 'thriller' it would seem that 'horror' befits my fic the best, of the two. |
Yah, I used to have my fics backed up on my hard drive, but... I don't trust Mum and Dad not to snoop. My login is password-protected, but no code is uncrackable. I don't trust internet storage thingies either, for similar reasons. And my PC is too new to have a floppy drive. One thing I never got is why they call them floppies. They're possibly the un-floppiest things on the planet. Except CDs, which are actually bigger than floppy disks and therefore, not compact.
|
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d8/Floppy_disk_5.25_inch.JPG
These were akin to the original floppy disks, they were basically bendable. As for a storage source, I'd recommend a USB flash drive (I have one somewhere). Though I also have 2 portable hard drives, with 500gb on each, they're somewhat smaller than a DS. |

Is this...what...I don't even...
WHAT THE FRAK HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU PEOPLE, GOD! I mean, after a brief period of silence, it just takes the span of two days to add as many new pages? It's almost like you guys don't have a life or anything! Well, even if it's late it's never a bad time to shamelessly self-promote in reference to other people's comments! <_< Namely, this one: Quote:
Oh, and as with all my writing it has a lack of reviewers. If I hadn't undergone this epiphany a couple months back and realized that reviews are overrated, I'd probably have lost my will to live write by now. Quote:
Protip: If you don't want to use a random password, use one that's not a real word. I myself use fictional words from fanfics I've read and written, which in your case would create a catch-22 of your parents needing to get to the fic to know the password but needing the password to get to the fic. If used for your account with the locked user folders that I swear I remember using before, or in some sort of archive with a password on it I can guarentee no normal parent would be seeing those fics. Alternatively, you could just not worry about your parents seeing what you write. I mean, in my case I do want to keep my parents from seeing half of what I write, but the half that's actually posted here I wouldn't mind too much if they saw. They probably wouldn't get it, but I doubt they'd think less of me or anything. My mom's actually pressured me before to let her read my writing... |
Feign, the fics are on a USB, but somehow I keep wiping it.
txteclipse, I...never knew that. Shrike, don't worry, my password is the title of an unpublished fic, plus a random full stop in the middle, so no worries there. What were you saying about accessing files through the file system? That kinda worries me. And I think M & D would mind. They think Pokemon is the dumbest thing on the face of the earth, they don't know these forums exist, and they get grumpy because I bought Platinum. |
Quote:
Although Mastermind is only three chapters, so if you get into it you'll probably be pretty bummed. Quote:
In other news, Project Trico. This trailer alone may be enough inspiration to finish my chapter. |
Yeah. The active hour in here ir pretty much the time I'm either asleep or at school, around 5 to 9 AM. Thanks a lot, guys ;_;
I back up my text files (they're all in rtf form) to my MP3 player. I don't really need lots and lots of back-up storage space, because I practically only ever back up my texts and nothing more. I did have a fancy USB flash drive, but it kind of 'sploded. It just completely ceased to respond to anything I tried to do to it, including moving the files stored in it. So, uh, yeah, that kind of destroyed my trust for that kind of devices. Not that MP3 players don't break, but... That aside, I loved to break floppy disks to pieces when I was a kid. I'd break the plastic cover and play with the actual floppy inside it... Oh, those were good times. I would break only already broken ones, though. We had tons of them lying around, both broken and working ones. They're called "korppu" in Finnish. Essentially, that means a dry, thick bisquit. Kind of the opposite of "floppy", wouldn't you say? Quote:
When it comes to fanfiction, though, they simply wouldn't get it. So, I don't bother making them read it. They know I write it, though, and think I'm weird for it  Well, everyone in our family is weird, one way or another. Maybe that's why I don't think it's a bad thing for my parents to see what I write. Also, I can always be sure they approve of my stories... Quote:
I have lost my will to write, though. It has nothing to do with reviews. I'm hoping it'll come back to me soon-ish. What should I do? |
Can I just say that I'm heavily amused by the pun in the phrase "reviews are overrated"?
Seriously, though, it was an example for those times I'm drunk and bored at three in the morning in college, but sure, I'll poke your fics too. XD |
'kay guys, since a couple of you are suggesting Thriller, would you guys mind if I add that to the genre list? If so, then Feign and solovino I'll let you guys have a chance to edit your forms. :) Reason I didn't add that to the list cause I always thought Suspense and Thriller are basically the same (thinks how Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons are considered thrillers and suspense interchangeably). ^^; Also, in the original thread at Serebii, Thriller's not in there. O.o
Also, I'm already planning changing a couple of things in the Index thread, but nothing too drastic. This is still in the beginning stages so yes I'll be changing things around a bit and it'll be a few days until everything's in tact. ^^; |
Quote:
It always amuses me when the meaning of some English words suddenly strike me. I mean, I can use a phrase for years and then suddenly realize that it's actually made of two words that both actually have a meaning... Too bad I can't think of an example. </unrelatedness> |
Does anyone know where a good RS walk through is? Part of my fanfic is in Hoenn, and I lost my copy of Pokemon Ruby.
|
Quote:
On another note...I was poking around and found my old threads that I made back when I wrote my first fan fic...I seriously need to get back to this. But Requiem takes top pririty right now :D |

Hmmm...would it be entirely out of place to have a real school (as in learning 2+2= fish, not Pokemon school) and Pokemon video games(obviously NOT named after their real life counter parts) in a fic? :/
|
Not at all. I mean, for the school, the kids gotta learn some basic facts for those morons who can't handle Pokemon training and actually get a real job. (Like all those chefs I remember seeing in the Johto League.) So unless you have trainers that are exceptionally brain-dead and can't read a word, school would be fine. I even have it in my fic.
Same with the video games. It might be possible. Really, it's your world, and the canon Pokemon world is so unexplored, so you can do pretty much whatever you want to with the society and culture. |
Quote:
Also, to redjacket about schools and whatnot, agreeing with Asty here. It's even canon in some cases that there's actually a regular school. (Won't go into details because that would entail me being overly fangirly, but both Electric Tale of Pikachu and Special mention regular schools and colleges.) So, they exist, but we just don't see them that often because the main characters of the canon are usually focused completely on their journey. However, with fanfiction, it's perfectly kosher to color outside the lines and have a real school if it fits your storyline. As for the games, it could work and serve as light humor (like, "lol, game within a game"), but I'd say maybe avoid drawing attention to the reference. Think of how we handle animals in our games. We don't really have things like, "Animal: Red Version," and considering Pokémon are their wildlife, they probably don't either. (Although people could argue that we do with things like Animal Crossing. *shrug*) If that's what you mean by "obviously not named after their counterparts," though, then it's really kosher there too because it's pretty normal for video games to include things like wildlife. Sonic the Hedgehog, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, that kind of deal. |
Hehe. My fanfic (CLICK DER LINK IN DER SIGGY PLS) got a couple of reviews, and both said they wanted sequels, so I'll be writing one.
Also, somewhere in the deep, murky bog that passes for my brain, I have a plan for a comedy oneshot involving the Sinnoh gang (Ash, Dawn, Brock, Paul, maybe Zoey, Kenny, Nando etc) getting roped into a Shakespeare play. I can just imagine Ash ("Uh...what does this word mean? And this one? What about this one?") and Brock (as Romeo or similar), not to mention Paul ("I can't believe you managed to con me into this"). Ooh, brainwave. Conway as the guy who knows the whole damn play by heart. And just cos I like ContestShipping, I might put May and Drew in as well. Then again, imagine Paul as Juliet... *evil grin* EDIT: Oh, and CLICK DER LINK IN DER SIGGY PLS. TYVM. OK, I'm done with text lingo now. In case you were worried. |
Quote:
Or how Paul always says "You're pathetic." You should have him say that, when someone like Ash mispronounces a word. Then Ash would retaliate saying something like "Well you didn't want to do this either!" In a few of Shakespeare's plays, he often has a funny duo, Team Rocket would fit that well ;) (ie Rosencrantz and Guildenstern). |
Actually, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern did cross my mind for TR (I was in Hamlet last year =D). I was leaning more towards Stephano and Trinculo, though!
|
It's been about 8 months since I've looked at Shakespeare XD
Otherwise good stuff, under appreciated imo. The Tempest was the first Shakespeare I read, for school, though that was a while ago now, so I don't really remember it that much, only that there was an island, some fairies and it was Shakespeare's last work, which he somewhat made obvious in the play itself. |
Yeah, we're currently studying the Tempest now, which is why I'm full of it. We studied the Merchant of Venice last year. BORING. And like I said, I was in Hamlet. I've seen A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Taming of the Shrew, and Pericles, Prince of Tyre performed too. I love Shakespeare, which people think is really weird for a 14 year old.
|
Ah well, you need the right mentality and understanding... Not to mention the language is quite different. I know teachers cringe when they see internet speak in essays etc. As well, I find the olde (hehe) meaning of words to be self-explanatory now that I've studied enough of his work.
Though, it makes me wonder how hard kids will have it in the future, with the way the language is going these days. I remember reading an article where some British professor, suggested that since internet speak etc has become the norm, as well as phonetic spelling, that they should start accepting both in regular english classes... Yeah needless to say I was shocked too, sure over the years there has been some deviations (American English has plenty of examples), but those are still considered correct. If I were a professor though, and I saw something like: "i tink dat u can mak da caraktr look big" (bad example) I'd hand an insta-fail. And probably suggest they try to become a rapper >.> lol But that they'd need money for "bling" first. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
Yay, a language saved? I just hope my own language doesn't get diluted by English and disappear from the lack of use. Only 6 million people speak Finnish right now, and I fear people don't respect it enough. It's a damn hard language, so I think it's really cool to be able to speak it :< Please don't die, little language! |
Quote:
That's too bad Finnish is being overrun though :S |
I know what you mean, but you gotta put it in context. I can SMS, or come on here, and spk lyk dis w da bst of dem, but there's a distinction between that and real life. Also, there's a distinction between fanfiction and the other forums. If I read a fic, I expect the words to be written in full, and decent GRAMMAR. Some of these people are 20+ and still not getting it!
|
Hah. This talk of people with poor grammar reminds me...
I was in TV Production the other day, and had nothing to do. So I reach over to where the Teacher Assistant is going over some journalism articles (the teacher does both journalism and TV Production). I start proofreading them... and these are journalism kids, the ones who elected to partake in this class because they like writing articles (hence the term 'elective'), right? ...None of them could write worth anything. And most of them had terrible grammar. I wanted to ram my head into the desk because these kids are supposedly the ones that will be writing the local paper in a few years. Even my dad tells me he gets absolute crap proposals where he works. And no one can use texting as an excuse to explain why they can't be bothered to write/type things out. I know people that text 200 some messages a day, and they write everything out. I like this forum because a good number of people respect the English language... Quote:
|
Now now people, as long as there are writers like us, there is hope for English.
By the way, Astinus...do you ever sleep? Or are you truly deity in that regard? |
Quote:
Which is weird that I fangirl Van Helsing. |

We went climbing through the trees this one time, and I clung to her back while she flew from tree to tree, and the camera started spinning around nonsensically until we both wanted to throw up, and... Okay, yeah, I'm done now. |
At least you hung on tight, Spider Monkey.
Then I brought her back to my family's uber-modern house (*_*) and I played the jaw harp piano for her. Then it was time for baseball! It's sad that I remember all this. |
And then I turned up with my other vampire buddies and wanted to eat the mortal. Yes, I read it too, although I stopped shortly after baseball for fear of hurling.

Happy birthday then, txt.
Seriously, people and things, I can't believe this place was gonna dead by, how long, three days? And these lapses of muteness are becoming more common, or is it just myself spending too much time in the Lounge? |

Yeah, I'm getting bored by it too.
But that's probably me and my renewed Maple addiction. -drool- Happy birthday, txt-o. =D |

Anyway, I think I'll inject some action into this thread. What's your least-favorite genre, and why? For me, it's realistic fiction. The kind that attempts to accurately emulate real life with fake characters. The genre feels so pointless. If I want realism to that degree, I'll read non-fiction, you know? I mean, I've seriously read stuff that was like "boring female character had this for breakfast, and her grandmother said such-and-such, and then she went to the grocery store." Well thank you, Captain Yawn, for reiterating how boring everyday life is. |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TXTECLIPSE!
*wheels in a cake of his own, and leaves. Shortly afterwards, Sentret with flamethrowers pop out and grin* What's your least-favorite genre, and why? Hmm...maybe realistic fiction as well, although I have read some good books on that, admittedly. But the bad ones tend to be boring, and the worst book I've ever read fell into that genre. >_< Not a biggie with Romance either, or dark Horror... that's just me though. |
Quote:
...Whoa. Total Sheogorath moment there. Cookies to whoever knows what I'm talking about. And speaking of genres, is it possible to have too many in one fic? I know it's kind of a bizarre question, but the Eon Chronicles is seriously turning out to be a fantasy/adventure/horror/drama/slice of life/comedy/lots of other things fic. Might that turn people off that don't like one of said genres? |
*pops in, eats cookies, pops out* <-<
Best video games evar |0 And, uh, to actually contribute to the thread... I don't really like autobiographies. I don't know exactly why, I guess it just bugs me when people with boring lives publish books about them. xD |
*releases the Pimpy Lugia and commands it to hunt Deoxys55*
Quote:
Eon Chronicles being fantasy/adventure/horror/drama/slice of life/comedy/lots of other things fic thing of sorts? My advice would be to categorize it using the literary technique and the tone only, rather than content, because plot, or the story itself, is the emelent that expands and allows inclusion (and henceforth confusion). I read some of it too long ago to reember correctly, but I'd use Mystery/Adventure. As a rule of thumb, I don't catalogue anything as Fantasy or Sci-fi unless I can clearly exclude the other genre's component as accidental, or intended for parody. Otherwise it is SciFantasy (a completely different, more encompassing thing). Same with Tragedy/Suspense (I umbrella them under Drama). I don't consider things like "Supernatural" or "Hurt/Comfort" as genres, either. Horror and Action are for me a special case (they completely stand on their own, no questions asked). Oh, whatever... If to contribute anythhing to this thread, I'll say I don't like horror. More properly, I don't enjoy it. Don't know why. And I'm quite selective with parodies. If it isn't done in the style and pace of movies like "Airplane!", I can't enjoy it. |
Quote:
Anyway, that all makes sense Solovino. I categorize the E.C. as primarily adventure/drama, but there are elements of all those other things I listed. I guess a better question would be how much of an undesirable genre (or subgenre) a person could tolerate if the rest of the fic was to their liking. ...Which is kind of a dumb question, now that I think of it. It all depends on the reader, I'd imagine. ...And I write for myself, so why am I even asking these questions? EDIT: bobandbill's a mod now too? I'm beginning to feel left out here. |

Lol that is why they made the mod forums, where they can gossip about other members and be "unofficial" XD >.>
And Happy Birthday, heres your cake: http://www.acatinthekitchen.com/photo/darek40/stortarta.jpg |
Congrats on being mod, bobandbill, and also happy birthday, txtclipse! :D
PARTYYYYYYYYYYYYY! TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT FOR CELEBRATIONS! ;D *coughs* What's your least-favorite genre, and why? Romance. I'm not really all for romantic relationships being the main focus of the story. As for the fanfiction index, I'm actually thinking of changing that only two genres allowed rule cause I can understand that a story can go through a range of genres. I actually catergorize NE as suspense/mystery/drama/sci-fi/comedy (main ones are suspense and mystery, though). However, reason why I put that rule is so that story wouldn't be in like eleven of the categories. XD; So yeah people, you think I should change that rule, or just keep it as is? |
Happy birthday, txt. Congrats on the modship, BnB. damn, this place exploded since I last checked. This morning it was, like, dead. *shudders*
What's your least-favorite genre, and why? It would have to be historical religious fiction. All that stuff about the Children's Crusade and all. I read Sylvia by Bryce Courtenay a while ago, and bleh. Also, I dislike anything with zombies or vampires. (Yes, I'm looking at you, Ms. Meyer) Ghost horror is OK as long as the ghosts aren't portrayed as white blobs. PS: I was Kenji. |
Quote:
Oh, and Kenji got a name change, too? We're going to need more cake for all this happenstance, methinks. *...snooze* |
Umkay. So I'm a writer In general but I wanna dabble in fanfics and combine my love of writing and pokemon. Haha.
So I'm considering writing a one-shot about what Zero (antagonist from Giratina and the Sky Warrior, in case you didn't know ^_^) was like as a kid. I was wondering first, if anyone knows of something like this has been done before, and second, if anyone thinks it would be interesting. Thanks! ^o^ |
Well, writing stories about bad guys is always cool in my book. As long as you can pull it off well, there's no need to worry! Daijobu!
|
Quote:
Currently I am still in the planning stages (aka haven't gotten around to starting it yet) of writing a fic about Ash and co. that has to do with aura, so it will be interesting. Plus, since you aren't held back by the anime, you can make it as a darker theme or what have you. Save the fact that since we don't see Ash swearing, that it wouldn't really make sense for him to swear in a fic. What's your least-favorite genre, and why? Romace... If I wanted romance... well >.> *leaves the rest of that sentence to the imagination of the crazed people who come here :P |
Quote:
Or, well, in that fuzzy mindset where she's usually at when she's drunk. But funny story about how the alcohol in my house is crap. Uh, you didn't hear that. Congrats to bobandbill (although I've stormed your celebration thread and have noticed a distinct lack of cupcakes and women), and has that gender-age-species-ambiguous thing in the bikini popped out of the cake yet? No? I'll be on my way again, then. *takes the liqueur and heads out* Quote:
In fanfiction, it can be done well in certain circumstances, sure. In fact, yes, I do ship, and yes, I like it when a decent author comes along and writes my ships, preferably with the sweethearts in-character. Likewise, like I don't like having Bill "experiment" with Lanette/Celio/anyone else and finding out he actually sort of likes it. But the screaming fangirls. The ones who pair up their Mary Sues with their favorite characters, the ones who make the characters in their ship go so far OOC they're barely recognizable, and the ones who use the same damn plots over and over and over again. Please. I have a spork. Do not make me want to insert it into my eye. Look, kids. I really don't mind romance when it's done well. However, I've seen far too many fics labeled as romance to make me want to click anything that's actually labeled as such. Clichés are not the answer. Arguing doesn't necessarily mean they're destined for each other. Main character male + main character female =/= OTP all the time. And most importantly, Jessie is the one who wears the pants in the relationship. Jessie. In terms of original fic, from published to crappy smut, I have one thing to say: Not attractive. Yes, I'm not fond of original fic romance because it's often too sappy, with the girl being vulnerable and the guy being macho. And if it's not the gender roles, it's the "OMG FOCUS ON LOVE" part of it. And if it's not that, then it's the sex. Because although I can deal with that kind of thing in fanfiction, for some reason, it doesn't float my boat in original. Unfortunately, I have the luck that dictates I can only read romance in which most of what happens is either: 1. A lot of hot, steamy scenes. Usually in potentially public areas. Like the elevators of office buildings. 2. The "strong" female goes out into the world and eventually wrestles with her feelings for a man. ("Strong" in quotation marks because, frankly, she's still a girly-girl who can't actually be independent.) 3. Whiny teenagers finally understand the "meaning of love." Or, alternatively, they're whiny teenagers in older bodies. I'd go further into this subgenre of romance, but I'd really like to forget about those parts of Buffy the Vampire Slayer whenever I fondly reminisce about the fandom in general. So, yes. I admit I like some romance, so maybe I can't say I outright hate the entire genre. But a lot of it, especially in fandom? Not particularly fond. Sorry. |
Not to mention the creepy ships there are, out there...
What could be even scarier, is people trying to justify the creepy ships, just because there was like one or two random encounters, that would otherwise seem odd, but could be normal (ie someone hugging someone else for a celebratory reason, is not grounds for a justified ship)... |
Oh wow no kidding about those shippings...
It disturbs me when people try to put pokemon and people together romantically... O_o |
Quote:
For example, Steven x blender? Crackship and hilarious in fanfiction. Just think about it. |
Yeah... like my accidental finding of a ymtnd (or w/e) of a brief fic about a lady and mewtwo...

txtclipse, you're the one that wanted this place to be alive again! ;)
And hylian, I did something like that too, but with Cyrus. I mostly went through some websites on his info and also played through Diamond again to get an idea of his personality. Luckily there is this old couple at Sunyshore that explained his childhood a bit. Yeah, pretty much go through the movie and also perphaps Bulbapedia to get a feel for his personality first before thinking about how his childhood is like. |

And with that, I'm off to play board games with some college mates. Au revoir, babies! |

And yah I looked over his parts in the movie and checked out bulbapedia already. It's fairly vague. So I'm feeling quite a bit of freedom. I think there had to be a point in his life were he snapped and started going crazy. So I'm gonna show that. Haha. |

Oh you're right! Nice catch.
Haha I don't think I'll write this, but it'd be sorta funny if he had split personality disorder or something and his mental instability just tips him and his evil personality takes over. Overstress from a bunch of factors, ranging from too much pressure placed on oneself due to duties to relationship dysfunctions. You don't have to be an orphan to be psychotic. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but it seems like a lot of people assume that orphan = angst. Really, if you're orphaned and get a decent family, you can actually end up happier than a lot of people who have families (that are not necessarily even dysfunctional). So, in other words, if you'd like to find a reason why Zero's psychotic, by all means. That's what a fangirl does, really. Just... please spend more time on it than just resorting to the "I have no family so therefore I must WANGST" solution. Not to offend you or anything here. Just saying. |
Sorry, guyz, for not being active, but I'm trying to cure my being an UnDead, and it's not working as quickly as I want it to.
I need the person who cares for me the most to bring a stake, a lot of garlic, a hammer, and a way to cut off my head. Plus a book of prayers to ward off the evil spirit, and the Communion Bread. Any takers? (I typo'd "any" as "Andy", lololololol.) Happy birthday, txt. *tosses around Latios plushie* Bobandbill... :D I already welcomed you enough. |

...Except for the part where I have to... with... and um, alien... demon... baby. .... *holds up stake* Lie down. It'll be relatively quick and painless. |
Haha. No you're totally right. I didn't mean anything by the orphan comment. But yah. You're so right and I didn't mean to sound so ignorant. Please forgive me.
Aw man. I'm supposed to be smart. But considering it's late night for me I guess my mind is... Sleeping without telling my body. T_T |

I suppose there are a ton of things that could've led to zero's messed up ways. Somehow he's one of my favorite characters though. Haha. I think maybe his intentions were partially pure in a way, because he wanted to preserve the reverse world... But then desiring to dominate it was wrongish.
I've just gotta figure out exactly why he likes the reverse world more than the real world... Hmm lots to think on. Thanks Valentine! |

Yeah, *hylian*sakura*, just take your time to think it through and all - no rush or anything. Funnily enough though, sometimes I function better at night. XD
And cheers for the congrats, people. Quote:

...you talk too much. =P That's the best 5-second movie I have ever seen. XD But if we're posting youtube vids now, why not some fanfic-related ones? Or rather, re-enactments of badfic? A little something called 'Half Life Full Life Consequences'... it was a fic written by someone, turned into a machinima, complete with narration! And in four parts! Fourth I can probably describe as an '18 minute epic'. XD Third is rather 'meh' in comparison though. One two three four! Yeah idk why but I felt like posting that. It's very quotable too. XD |

What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
Romance. It just really doesn't interest me as a plot - it can be a great character device, but if the characters are doing nothing but being in love (or trying to deny the fact they're in love, or angsting over whether they love somebody else more), I'm generally just not interested unless the characters are particularly fascinating in themselves. I am also not fond of whatever one might call the genre of books revolving around the life of poor dysfunctional Icelandic families during the twentieth century. Unfortunately this includes about two thirds of all Icelandic fiction published (the rest is almost exclusively children's books and the mystery novels written by some two or three authors). They just... usually aren't entertaining except maybe in some stray scenes here and there, the characters never seem to be remotely likable, and they never seem to use any of the potential there could be for making the story interesting. I just don't get them. :/ Sure, they can provide a vivid commentary on the conditions of working-class families in small fishing villages in Iceland in the early twentieth century, but... as far as I can tell they're just generally no good as stories. |
What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
Realistic fiction. Hit me over the head with a stake stick, why don't you? I know real life is boring; I don't need to waste a few hours rediscovering that. I mean, there are a few exceptions, but I prefer a good sci-fi/fantasy, myself. And I actually like romance, especially when it's a destructive/painful/love-hate relationship. >D But, ooey gooey OoC romance and/or mary sue OC x main male makes me grimace. And people who are... demented in terms of defending their OTP scare me at times. o_0 |
What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
Historical fiction. The stuff just seems so boring. I mean, these stories are all about life in the past, normally showing how horrible it was. If I want to learn how life was a hundred years ago, I'll look in my history book. |

What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
Crime fiction. Yeah, despite my absolute adoration of True Crime (and my writing of 'A Darker Day'), I just struggle with crime fiction. Don't ask me why, I just cannot get into the books unless they are based on true facts. |
What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
I hate mystery. Yeah, the writers have to be pretty smart to come up with it, but it doesn't catch my eye. In fact, not a lot of books do. I'm reading Wuthering Heights for school (in the summer, yes) and it's treacherously boring. Not just "boring". Treacherously boring. That's what. Then after that I have to read A Tale of Two Cities and Cry, the Beloved Country. Fun fun fun. |
What's your least-favorite genre, and why?
Have to say...realistic fiction. Don't take this the wrong way, but you humans lead such dreadfully boring lives...honestly, I can't understand why someone would enjoy stories about things you experience every day...unless you're, say, a superhero or something... |
