wow...the selection blows

I just started playing diamond 2 days ago. (yeah im slow) and there is like ummm 3 appealing pokemon to choose before like the 6th gym...there is like zero variety...kinda lame...

DayDreamer April 21st, 2008 2:43 PM

Well I'll agreed with you there. The new pokemon for the game ARE indeed unappealing but be patient. Soon you will be able to get the old pokemon back ^^.

Dunsparce April 21st, 2008 2:46 PM

The 4th Gen Pokemon are my Second Favorite Group, after the 2nd Gen Pokemon.

Fuwaraido, Dootakun, Mojanbo, ect.

I like their Selection. Better than the Hoenn Dex, IMO.

Lt. Surge April 21st, 2008 3:12 PM

The starly evolution isn't bad to start off with, but i tend to agree, the rest of the pokemon early on aren't very appealing.

RAPIDASH FTW LOLZ ROSERADE >>> ALL LOLOLOLOLOLOL

The selection does indeed blow, especially since you can't get a darn ice type till more than halfway between the game.

Ummm... It was like that in RSE, too.

And you'd think they'd learn from their mistakes, eh?

Storm-DC April 21st, 2008 3:28 PM

D/P are much better than R/S/E, for the first time i actually really liked my team throughout the single player part.

really? what's your team...cuz i despise my team

DayDreamer April 21st, 2008 3:33 PM

Yes it was definitely better than R/S/E but still not as great as the Jhoto region.

Agreed, but Diamond and Pearl were the first games to outsell Gold and Silver >.<;

DayDreamer April 21st, 2008 3:44 PM

Hehe well D/P DOES have wifi. Gold and Silver cannot beat that and the few extra hundreds of pokemon xD.

In terms of design I think they should really think about the starters more. That's what's going down each version >_>.

luxray, gastrodon, alakazam (from GTS) and my starter. i dont know, really felt like a nice team. up till now (i played all games since the beginning) i would always capture new high leveled pokemon in the wild as soon as possible.

supermachito April 21st, 2008 4:07 PM

i agreee with you too.... lol

but the best pokemons where form the 1 generation

. April 21st, 2008 4:22 PM

GSC > All, it's as cannon as "PIKACHU AIM FOR TEH HORN LOL" The night/day system in D/P is horrible compared to GSC.

But I want a Larvitar earlier on in games. I had to import one from Pearl to get one by Gardenia in my Diamond.

goldwave9 April 21st, 2008 5:06 PM

Hoenn was pretty bad though *cough* sableye

darkace April 21st, 2008 5:51 PM

Everyone wanted the palkia and dialga, and for the first time wi-fi+migration of pokemon from emerald,ruby,sapphire,fire-red and leaf-green. who would'nt want to buy that game. It was almost a combination of all the games together. The story line to me was boring though.

WaluigiRedclaw91 April 22nd, 2008 10:30 AM

Hippowdon!!!!!! Also skuntank takes all gyms down really!

Amp April 22nd, 2008 12:14 PM

I actually preferred RSE over DP. DP's Pokemon suck. The only two I ever got excited about were Chimchar(flaming munky butt) and Luxray(thunder Lion ftw).

At least RSE had cool things like Hariyama, Blaziken, Swellow, Ninjask, Shedinja, Lairon...the list goes on.

grassguy April 22nd, 2008 12:42 PM

I thought Hoenn were the best and that Johto was the worst :P.
1= Hoenn
2= Kanto
3= Sinnoh
4= Johto

Storm-DC April 22nd, 2008 1:45 PM

wow, grassguy and Amp are out of their mind :P (no offense)!
i guess i experienced it like this:
R/B/Y: I saw some episodes of the anime, got fascinated by the cards and stuff and wanted to explore the world. huge adventure.
G/S/C: New pokemon, a cool new world with good stories (goldenrod is cool), many cool features like daycare and day/night and also a return to Kanto where all those famous character grew older, very cool.
R/S/E: Strange new world, nothing new, no connection to the previous games, the anime or whatever. Just more of the same.
D/P: Cool new world. Many new features. WiFi! But then again; i dont remember much of the single player part, since i played it in the week my girlfriend was at my place before she would travel the world for a long time and she was pissed when i played the game so i had to play it secretely without sound when she was asleep...
So.. They all have pros, except for R/S/E, that just really sucked.

CartoonJunkie April 22nd, 2008 2:22 PM

My biggest problem with the selection was the lack of a good fire type. I started with piplup so I was stuck with a ponyta forever :(

\\Ceiran// April 22nd, 2008 2:57 PM

snap, started with piplup, the only well designed starter for this gen, only to discover an over-abundance of weak water types.
the 4th gen does have some redeeming designs, e.g. riolu and...er... well, riolu, but on the other hand, wouldnt you love to shoot whoever thought up lopunny?

besides, they'll never recapture the overwhelming sense of adventure that the 1st gen gave everyone, although hoenn nearly managed it.

. April 22nd, 2008 5:14 PM

Gyarados is a weak water type? :D Ponyta is a disgrace compared to Infernape. Not question.

Empoleon, I used it, it really disappointed me. It had horrible speed, lots of weaknesses, and had poor attack.

Floatzel is awesome. Speed above plenty of things plus the ability to learn Ice Beam and take on Garchomp = Win.
