Fakemon, Splices, and Sprites

This is my showcase thread. C+C and all that is welcomed. I try to keep this updated, but sadly that only happens every now and again. For the most part the really old stuff is labeled. Most recent stuff though you'll find actually being posted later in the thread.

Also I'd like to take a moment to say something. My splices contain the sprites from multiple Pokemon games. Credit of the original sprites used in the making to Nintendo and Gamefreak. I would also like to thank Spriter's Resource, the place where they were ripped and distributed.

Torkoal Evo
Spoiler:
A Torkoal Evo. I held a raffle and the winner got a request from me. This is the result. Concept idea goes to Turtle King.

Captace Region
My own Pokemon region filled with new Pokemon and terrain. Everything here except Porygon 0 is a scratched sprite by me(Pory 0 is a sprite edit, but will later be made into a scratch sprite). I will not be posting their Dex entries here to save room. If you wish to know more, you can either find the original posts they were on, or you can PM me.

Any question, feel free to ask. I also gladly accept any critique.

Region Map
Spoiler:

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/RegionMaps.png
*Captace Region* is obviously a mountainess region. There is also a large river running through it. I have provided three maps. Two that are in the normal pokemon style. One is to a smaller more familiar size, the other has longer routes, both are pretty much the same. The third map shows features like forests and mountains better. The third also has the towns numbered, here is a description of each and some plot descriptions.

1. *Home Town* To the south is *Serenity Meadow*
2. *Town 2* Usual town where a parcel or whatever must be delivered. I might not do the delivery, but hey, it is classic so I might (I try not to be too stereo typical with everything, but some things I think are more so tradition).
3. *Town 3* First gym, a normal gym, you receive the Regular Badge upon victory.
4. *Peak Town* Home of the fifth gym, a wind gym, get Cyclone Badge. Various reasons as to why you can't do this gym yet. Also a planned town for a *Team Rocket* attack.
5. *Requiem Town* Home of the 2nd gym, a psychic gym, get Mind's Eye Badge. League route blocked by guy who needs to check for badges.
6. *Town 6* A nothing planned Town. The bike route to the south of it is only accessible by bike, so you must travel through the swamp.
7. *Swamp Town* 3rd Gym, poison gym, get Toxic Badge. Town sits on top of board walks, like the one town in R/S, but instead of over water, they are over a toxic swamp.
8. *Town 8* Bike is received here. Probably also a department store. Suppose to be the place to go when you come to this region.
9. *Town 9* 4th Gym, dragon gym, get *Draco Badge*. Originally a bridge/boat gets you across the river. Events though prevent you to get back, you obtain fly though and go back to to Town 4.
10. *Town 10* No real purpose as of now. Something prevents heading west (Future HM required or something).
11. *Town 11* 6th Gym Fire/Ice gym. Two leaders, double battle. Get the Burning Cold badge.
12. *Town 12* Another not really sure what I'm going to do with it town.
13. Crater Canyon. 7th Gym, Dark gym, get the Void Badge. Possibly legendary event goes down here or is explained.
14. *Town 14* Hard to reach secret town. 8th gym, Lightning gym, Bolt Badge. Sea connection, probably for S.S. activities. Also the town is surrounded in constant storms.
15. *Town 15* Not even sure if it will be town. Place where E4 is.

Planned things:
-Things like the breeding center and gambling hall could go anywhere Probably gambling hall goes in town 8, and breeder in town 6.
-Town 10 or 12 might get a "Pseudo Gym" Something like the fighting dojo in Blue/Red, special prize for winning.
-Extra Caves and Routes might exist and be added or not shown.
-A bridge exists between Town 5 and Town 6
-Routes will be given numbers. They are yet to be depicted, but more likely than not they will go 500, 501, 502, etc... It should be pretty much every piece of land between towns is one route.

Cyclone Badge: A wind gym.
Burning Cold Badge: A fire/ice double battle gym.

Splice Sheet 5

This one though is the funniest. You got a manbearpig, a elderly dragon
wise person looking cat, a retarded ditto, a serial killer bird and a nightmare type bat on one sheet. The only one I hate is the jumpluff one.

Splice Sheet 6

Splice Sheet 7

Splice Sheet 8

I really want to comment on this. The whole houndoom thing is cool. After that it got bad. I see a bunch of nothing for te shaymin thing. The searglre is going to hold the stinger how?But the last 2 are the coolest. I woud love to catch a flat moth.

Splice Sheet 9

Jappio May 5th, 2008 5:18 PM

Hey, thanks for the comments. It was also entertaining for a lot of that. I believe you had a question in there, where the green came from. It came from Suddowoodo.

Young Stunna' May 5th, 2008 5:21 PM

I like 519 - 521

It reminds me of magikoopas from mario.

Atomic Reactor May 5th, 2008 5:34 PM

um, what's a trogdor?
wer is it in your post?

the splices are alright.
the fakemon are good ideas, but not very pokemon stylish.
keep it up ^_^

Jappio May 6th, 2008 2:46 PM

Once again, thanks for the comments. Dragonitexchaos, I never realized that about them, they do look like majikoopas =D. Atomic_Reactor, Trogdor is from the internet cartoon, Homestarrunner. He is basically a dragon thing drawn by one of the characters. He grew in fame, has a song, and that song even made it onto Guitar Hero II, so it has a lot of fame. To find him he is on Splice Sheet 2, he is the big green dragon. Also I know my Fakemon aren't quite pokemon style, but I'm Ok with that, since I'm not too serious about that, I see my Fakemon as more so spriting practice.

FuzzyMuzzy May 8th, 2008 8:47 AM

lol why does the male kangiskahn have a pipe in its mouth? POKEMON SMOKE?!

Cid May 8th, 2008 9:14 AM

You're really good at making that map *points way up*... I like those fused Pokemon sprites too... Nice Work!

Jappio May 8th, 2008 4:05 PM

The pipe is because when I was making it, I was thinking, "what is the stereotypical image of a father." Well after thiinking about about it, I thought of the image of like a 1950's Leave it to Beaver type father, and what do they always have? A pipe.

I finally finished the latest Fakemon Sheet. A quick note about it, Valroar doesn't have a split evolution, that is merely just a visual difference between genders, no effect to stats or anything. Expect splices next thing I submit.

525 - Pix: Normal Type. "This pokemon is quite shy. It isn't due to its weak look, but because its embarrassed because its wings are not strong enough to give it flight, it instead bounces around."
526 - Angela: Evolves from 525 at level 25 with "Holy Wish" held. Normal Type. Good Sp attack and Sp. Def, Ok speed, bad P attack and def. "This pokemon makes a wish to fly and gain power, and would promise to do good. This pokemon now brings goodness and happiness to anyone it can, but it still sadly can't fly."
527 - Impz: Evolves from 525 at level 25 with "Evil Wish" held. Dark type. Good P attack and def, ok speed, bad Sp attack and defense."This pokemon has wished for dark powers so it could one day fly. It pledges to bring misfortune to all. Although it does gains power, it still can't seem to become air born."

528 - Waft: Poison type. "This pokemon isn't very rare in in smog filled cities. It has a hard enough time keeping itself together that it can't really battle too well." (Think Magikarp, will only know splash, will learn poison gas at some point like level 10-20)
529 - Smorgon: Evolves from 528 at level 25. Poison/Dragon type. Good Sp. Attack, Ok speed P attack Sp. defense, bad defense.."Foul smell, foul temper, foul everything. This is one nasty pokemon. Watch out, it may look completely gaseous, but it can still take a bite out of you." (Ability: Levitate).

530 - Dunsparse: Normal type. "This timid pokemon has never been known to be good at battle. Yet in this different land it is said that they have more potential than before."
531 - Morcore: Evolves from 522 in an undetermined way. Normal type. More of the same as Dunsparse, each stat better, so still a very balanced stat pool. "After evolving, Dunsparse has taken a new change. It no longer need to borrow and hide anymore, its attitude though doesn't change much and you'll be hard pressed to find a hostile one."

532 - Meowth: Normal type. "This pokemon has an love for wealth. Some have called it greedy, but its cute looks make it a pretty popular pokemon."
533 - Persian: Evolves from 532 at level 28. Normal type. ."A pokemon loved by those who love luxury. This pokemon itself is known for its snobbish attitude."
534 - Valroar: Evolves from 533 in an undetermined way. Normal type. Think Persian, but with attack and speed boosts. "Called the king of the jungle. This pokemon strides with a pristine presentation. Some can't help but bow to it."

nice sprites...awsome. =)

blaster911 May 12th, 2008 2:58 PM

LOL you have a trogdor the burninator. homestarrunner.com
YOU are awesome at splices (scratch..not so much)
you should seriously make a guide.

.:~Ariana~:. May 13th, 2008 1:18 AM

I wish I had the imagination and the time to make a region like that XD Good job, I like your sprites as a whole, but some look a bit C+P, like the Arceuses. Try making your parts look like they belong to Arceus more. And some revamps look like just recolours, like the dithering on Dugtrio is a dead giveaway of its original G/S/C state. Maybe scratch that part in? =/

All C&C aside, very good work, keep it up!

Jappio May 15th, 2008 7:13 PM

Well a friend of mine requested I do a quick map so he could use it somewhere. Well I decided to take him up on the offer, and made this. I haven't picked out what towns would be what or anything, so really I can't say much about it. Didn't take too long to make, which was nice, only about 30 min I think. I have two versions, one with towns, and one without.

Sorry I couldn't update with like Fakemon or splices, but hey, I think its a pretty cool map.

http://fc06.deviantart.com/fs30/f/2008/136/a/a/Random_Poke_Map_by_Jappio01.png

Atomic Reactor May 15th, 2008 7:18 PM

sorry dude, it doesn't look all that great.
i kno it was just a quick thing to make for a friend, but it's not that interesting.
i can tell you made it in 30 mins lol.

to improve your going to wanna either change the shape of the land, or add A LOT more terrain detail. both would be better.
other than that it looks nice ^_^

Amonitas May 15th, 2008 10:19 PM

Jappio, can I use these in my hack, I give you 100% of credit of course, my skills are not enough for good fakemon yet, so I could use yours, I'd use your names, info and movesets what you have in there ok? =P

BTW, most of these are SOOO COOL!

Bekki May 16th, 2008 1:57 AM

OMG those are some good splices. I am loving the Mew and Shaymin one. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see more.

Jappio May 21st, 2008 9:56 AM

Well done with the latest Fakemon. I'm happiest with the Arakidian. I'm not as happy with the torpedo and missile. Overall though I think I did a fine job.

535 - Flurry: Ice/Fighting type. "This pokemon spends its time punching ice blocks into pieces. Children try making snowmen from it."
536 - Kungfrost: Evolves from 535 at level 30. Ice/Fighting type. Good Attack. Ok P and Sp. defenses. Bad speed and Sp. Attack. "This pokemon is said to be able to hold a glacier in place. Children though still try playing with it, adding on top hats and things."

537 - Ledyba: Bug/Flying type. "Scared of the wrold, this pokemon never leaves its swarm unless it has to. It stays in contact with the swarm using scents."
538 - Ledian: Evolves from 537 at level 18. Bug/Flying type. "Most active during starry nights. This Pokemon's patterns change with the number of stars in the sky."
539 - Lediaga: Evolves from 538 in an undetermined way. Bug/Flying type. Think Ledian, but with boosts all around. "They say these pokemon can communicate with stars. Lediagas are supposedly able to use the energy from the stars to power its attacks up."

540 - Spinerac: Bug/Poison type. "This pokemon senses things through its durable web it weaves. It can stay in the same spot for days."
541 - Ariados: Evolves from 540 at level 22. Bug/Poison type. "It can spin endless amounts of thread. Some pokemon have a hard time fighting this pokemon due the fact they can't tell which side is its front."
542 - Arakidian: Evolves from 541 in an undetermined way. Bug/Poison type. Think Ariados, but with a major Sp. Attack boost and some other boosts in other areas. "Arakidian can see through its 7 eyes and front, and can sense energy through its hind eye. Its thread is almost as strong as steel."

543 - Torskate: Ice/Steel type. "This pokemon glides across ice at inpressive speeds. It has issues when it falls on its side."
544 - Misskate: Evolves from 535 at level 28. Ice/Steel type. Good attack and Speed. Bad P. and Sp. Defense and Sp. Attack. "Using its rocket booster, this pokemon moves at incredible speeds. It loses some control though going this fast and finds itself running into a lot of things.."

Silver Destiny May 24th, 2008 4:21 AM

Cool sprites..i like them.. the new map is soo coool.

I also like your splices..keep it up!!:D

Jappio May 24th, 2008 9:58 AM

Well I now have the latest splices done. A few of them as you can see have multiple, for the usual color or shape differences I can't decide between, so I just take both. The top 4 are special for the fact they are for a contest I'm in. Next submission I'll let you all know if they won or not.

http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs30/f/2008/145/6/1/Splice_Sheet_32_by_Jappio01.png

-Shadowburn- May 24th, 2008 10:36 AM

The splices pretty good, although the scratches need a bit of work done. The outline is choppy on some, and the the different tones on the shading are too different. The shapes are a bit awkward on some but overall, not bad. You are a fairly decent spriter.

..Beyond May 24th, 2008 3:21 PM

The Registeel/Glalie is particularly nice. Good splicing.

Hiroshi Uwishicarwei May 27th, 2008 6:25 PM

all these amazing sprites... I wish I could do this... But... All these sprites could help me make an official hack rom! Oh, please, may I use them for a hack? I really need to form a hack team... (even though... I need to delete my old one...) I would love the help.

Jappio June 2nd, 2008 7:01 PM

Well here are the latest. Not a whole lot, but I've been a bit slow on getting any new ones out so I'm Ok with that. I'm quite happy with Narlight and Maestrot. Yet Hyrdrax and Plataqwil are partially disappointing, but they were a little difficult.

545 - Qwilfish: Water/Poison type. "Fisherman make sure to be careful with handling this pokemon, its quills can poison."
546 - Plataqwil: Evolves from 545 by undertermined way. Water/Poison. Better stats than Qwilfish, and is going to a P attacker. "People can't tell if it is a land or water creature. They do know though to avoid its poisoness spines."

547 - Bydra: Dragon type. "Having two heads, Bydra has issues with itself. Yet due to this also, it can be a pretty fierce pokemon."
548 - Hydrax: Evolves from 547 at level 30. Dragon type. "People say every time you cut off a head of this Pokemon, it just grows back. Although that is legend, its strength and power are not rumor."

549 - Chinchou: Electric/Water type. "Chinchou discharge electricity from its atteana on its head."
550 - Lanturn: Evolves from 549 at level 27. Electric/Water type. "It's light can be seen from the bottom of the sea up to the surface. It can also discharge powerful electrical attacks from it's orbs."
551 - Narlight: Evolves from 550 in an undetermined way. Electric/Water type. Think Lanturn, but with a major Sp. Attack boost and some other boosts in other areas (seriously, Lanturn needed this, it has horrible stats. "This pokemon has such a bright horn, that it can guide ships safely through any condition."

552 - Chatot: Flying/Normal type. "Capable of imitating human voice, this pokemon can cause tricks to people."
553 - Maestrot: Evolves from 552 om undetermined way. Flying/Normal. Chatot with a Sp. Attack boost. "This pokemon can imitate entire opera's worth of sound and singing. The irony of it all is it can not sing what it hasn't heard."

Well here are the latest Fakemon. I don't think there is anything I have to go over anything. I just hope that posting this late at night doesn't yield a small number of replies, as does posting at night usually does.

http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs29/f/2008/164/a/d/Fakemon_Sheet_8_by_Jappio01.png

554 - Rabburn: Fire type. "A pokemon who lives life on the rough side. It one day dreams to be able to live in a much more destinguished life.."
555 - Burnsworth: Evolves from 554 by Fire Stone. Fire type. Good Sp. Attack. Ok P. attack, Sp. defense, and Speed. Bad P defense."This pokemon is said to be a refined pokemon. It takes joy in the finer things in life.."

556 - Farfetched: Flying/Normal type. "Farfetch'd are always seen with its famous stalk. It can even use it like a blade."
557 - OutaQuack: Evolves from 556 when it levels up with "Leek Sword" equipped. Flying/Steel type. Increased stats of Farfetch'd, probably aimed towards the attack and speed stats. "After taking up the blade and honing its skilled, this pokemon adapts to battle easily. When it draws it blade out, it will not rest until someone can no longer battle."

558 - Shivcube: Ice type. "This pokemon constantly shivers and chatters its teeth. It makes it hard for it to hide, so it has learned well how to be able to take a hit."
559 - Burblock: Evolves from 558 at level 35. Ice type. Good P. and Sp. Defences. Ok P. Attack. Bad Sp. attack and Speed. "This pokemon is large and heavy, most forces can't even push it back. Reversely this pokemon can't move too well itself either, taking ages to travel long distances."

560 - Spinda: Flying/Normal type. "Every Spinda is said to have a different patter of spots. Spinda are also known for being very dizy pokemon.."
561 - Toppleda: Evolves from 560 in undetermined way. Normal type. Spinda, but made a more defensive. "This pokemon looks like it has a hard time standing straight. It may look like it has issue, but its rumored that most have never once fallen over, and actually have great balance. They also retain their unique spot patterns."

wow man,
some of those splices are absolutely amazing!
really, truly, amazing!

Jappio June 14th, 2008 12:37 PM

Here are the latest Splices. I really get these done a lot faster than Fakemon. An extra big sheet this time since there was a lot I wanted to do. I do need apologize though, some of the requests I got I could not do. They turned out to have pretty much nothing to splice (zapdos + Jolteon was one, I forget the others). The requesters can ask for something different if they wish. Also I'd like to add Drapion to the list of things hard to splice. Seriously, it is too big to give things, and too odd to have things put on it well. So from what I remember, Drapion, Kingdra, and Nosepass are on the list.

http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs29/f/2008/166/1/9/Splice_Sheet_33_by_Jappio01.png

Jappio June 15th, 2008 3:48 PM

Well due to popular demand, I have made a tutorial for splicing. Hope it aids everyone else, and stop asking me for how I do it now! Watch out, it's huge.

Goatman56 June 15th, 2008 10:58 PM

Alright, what I mostly like is your fusions. I mean some of them aren't the greatest but then some of them make me go "Woah I wish i'd thought of that first" so good job on that.

Jappio June 25th, 2008 6:41 AM

Well this sheet personally is one of the biggest let downs I've had now. First off I gave up on one of the Fakemon since I just couldn't get it to work, so I'm figuring I'll just try to make it later. Porygon 0 is a blatant sprite 'edit' of Porygon, which fits what it is suppose to be, but at the same time lacks the skill I'd like to put in it. The hole pokemon though I can't help but love and want.

So yeah overall this has taught me, I'll probably be doing a lot of backtracking when I"m finished so I can fix up all my horrible mistakes....

(Sorry if I'm sounding emo or something, but recently I told myself I'd start improving as a spriter and all this seems like a disimprovement)

http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs26/f/2008/177/f/f/Fakemon_Sheet_9_by_Jappio01.png

Here is the Dex datas:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

562 - Turtech: Steel type. "This pokemon uses clockwork technology to be able to move around. Many say when its gears stop spinning, this pokemon stops living."
563 - Fixdines: Evolves from 562 at level 31. Steel type. Good P. Defense. Ok P. attack, Sp. defense. Bad Sp. attack."The king of fixing things, this pokemon is like a swiss army knife, able to help with many different tasks."

564 - Porygon: Normal type. "This pokemon was created completely with code, and it still remains capable of reverting back to the that code to enter cyberspace."
565 - Porygon 2: Normal type. "This Pokemon was made when scientists found a way to evolve Porygon through installing files. It now boasts new A.I. and emotions."
566 - Porygon Z: Normal type. "Another upgrade was applied to the Porygon family. The install wasn't perfect though and some say it has new errors that still need trouble shooting."
567 - Porygon 0: Evolves from 564 by leveling to level 30 with "Evil Wish" held. Dark/Poison type. It is like Porygon Z, but its Sp. Attack is switched with P. Attack "This Pokemon's programming has been corrupted and it now is a virus. People also have referred to it as MISSINGNO." (Yes, it will ask to learn water gun, water gun, and sky attack upon evolution. No, it won't evolve into kangaskhan =D).

568 - Pinepine: Grass type. Good Sp. Def. and HP. Ok P. Attack and Sp.attack and P. Defense, bad speed. "This pokemon avoids battle usually. It will amongst trees and rests for hours. Watch out, its quills are sharp."

569 - Pito: Ground/Dark type. "Watch out for this pokemon in dark caves, people often don't notice it and trip in it. People say this Pokemon has a rivalry with Diglett."
570 - Cavito: Evolves from 569 at level 28. Ground/Dark type. Good P. attack. Ok Sp. Attack and speed. Bad P. and SP. Defense. "This pokemon drags others down into the dark underground, many people say once your pulled in, their is no leaving."

You obviously didn't read what I had said. I stated that Porygon 0 is a sprite edit. I took Porygon's sprite and edited it. I will go back and make a scratch version of it, but for now it will be as such.

sk8kickflip July 3rd, 2008 6:36 PM

Your sprites are superb, and I love the Trogdor sprite.

ghastly July 4th, 2008 5:49 AM

woah. these are all really good, some of my favorites being the persian evo, trogdor, lanturn evo, and ariados evo. You are excellent with splicing and not to bad at scratching. i would work on your scratching just a bit to improve it, but your splicing is incredible ( well there are sone im dont like but its just because the look like mega cut and paste).

Keep it up!

Jappio July 4th, 2008 7:06 PM

Well just as a quick explanation. The three splices with Celebi are for a contest, and it's part of the contest that they had to have shiny forms. Also the guy on the bottom left and his inferno form are for a different contest.

Glitter Stain July 4th, 2008 8:00 PM

I'm only going to comment on the fusions for now.

Sheet 1: Different. The shading is not so good on some of them. Rotom x Gyarados is by far the best. Sandslash x Togepi isn't really a fusion/splice; it is just an advanced recolor.

Sheet 2: The best is probably Spheal x Abra. The rest are a bit showy and slightly choppy. Try to focus less on how many parts you can edit/recolor and more on the quality of the sprite.

Sheet 3: The Tauros sprites are overkill. Their tails are quite scary. The best fusion on this sheet is Arcanine x Lairon.

Sheet 4: Refer to post 2 for comments. I like Wigglytuff x Toxicroak x Gardevoir the best, but this sheet is definitely not my favorite.

Sheet 5: Good! Blaziken x Kangaskhan is quite good, but the best is probably Farfetch'd x Kabutops. Very creative. You forgot to remove part of the black background on Koffing x Jirachi.

Sheet 6: Interesting. Nothing too special, but nothing really all that bad. Some of them are a bit too busy, though. Black background on Manectric x Gorebyss. My favorite is Chimecho x Bonsly x Minun.

Sheet 7: These are a little too exciting. You might want to tone it down some. Black background. The brown Teddiursa x Piplup is the best, though it is not extremely creative.

Sheet 8: Very creative! These are good. The best is probably Smeargle x Beedrill. There's still some black background on Kirlia x Kricketune.

Sheet 9: I'm scarred for life. Thanks. Just joking. Nothing really to comment on these, except you should probably donate some of them to Pokemon Mutation. Snubble x Phanpy is the best.

Sheet 10: Wtf at the first two. I wouldn't want to be the Altaria on Altaria x Girafarig x Noctowl. Glaceon x Leafeon, a very common fusion, would be my favorite out of these.

Sheet 11: These are all pretty good. My favorite is definitely Hoothoot x Exeggcute. Very creative and well-executed. (No pun intended).

Sheet 12: Some of these are too busy, specifically the first one. Combee x Castform needs some shading work done. Roselia x Dodrio is my favorite.

Sheet 13: The first one needs some serious toning down. Other than that, the rest are pretty good. The best is Mightyena x Suicune, but an honorable mention goes out to Zapdos x Gengar.

Sheet 14: The "Girafarig with two other Pokemons' heads"-thing is getting a bit strange. It's not bad, but it's just really bizarre. Entei x Suicune x Raikou is good, but my personal favorite is Psyduck x Kecleon because of its smoothness and natural look.

Sheet 15: These are not your best. Most of them are a bit over-copiepasted. Crobat x Omastar is not very creative, but it is the best nonetheless.

Sheet 16: The Eevees are pretty good, even though they are a bit strange-looking. The best out of those is the Jolteon colored one. However, the best sprite on the sheet is Exeggcutor x Vigoroth.

Sheet 17: The Chimera is very interesting, but the fusion itself is extremely bizarre. Too many heads. The best on this sheet in my opinion is Qwilfish x Porygon.

Sheet 18: The Pokemon fusions are over-copiepasted. The trainers are better, and the best is probably the Farfetch'd x Trainer.

Sheet 19: Not all of these are fusions/splices, but I like most of them. The best fusion on this sheet is Gyarados x Milotic.

Sheet 20: My favorite is Grotle x Wartortle x Torkoal. I really like most of these.

Sheet 21: The Vulpix x Hippopataus, while extremely good, isn't really a fusion. The best of the others is probably Zapdos x Moltres x Articuno.

Sheet 22: These are all above average, but the best is without a doubt Azurill x Slugma. I love it!

Sheet 23: These are very good and extremely creative. I really like Starmie x Electrode (though it could use some re-shading), but my personal favorite is Mr. Mime x Sudowoodo for its creativity and elocution.

Sheet 24: The Mr. Mime x Togetic x Nidorina appears to have a bit of black background, but I can't really tell. Slowking x Swampert x Nidoqueen needs some shading work but is otherwise good. My favorite this time around is Parasect x Magcargo.

Sheet 25: Nothing of too much interest. The best is Dusknoir x Kangaskhan. The Rayquaza x Mew's shading isn't perfect.

Sheet 26: All pretty good, but my personal favorite is Arceus x Zapdos though its shading is not right.

Sheet 27: Some of these are too busy. I would tone it down some if I were you. Vibrava's wings don't fit well on Cyndaquil. In cases like those it is best to scratch them or find past gen parts.

Sheet 28: Some of these are a bit awkward-looking, as not everything fits together so well. These are not bad, but could use improvement. Flygon x Wartortle is probably my favorite.

Sheet 29: These are all good. My favorite is Ludicolo x Aggron.

Sheet 30: Nothing too special here other than Starmie x Rotom, which is very good as well as my favorite in this sheet.

Sheet 31: Excellent! I love these. Most are very creative. I like Flaaffy x Mismagius the best out of these.

Sheet 32: All rather good. Kingler x Snorlax is very interesting. My favorite is Nincada x Shellder.

Sheet 33: Most of these could use a tiny bit of improvement, with the exceptions being the Celebi fusions. The best is the green Azurill x Celebi.

The best overall is Grotle x Wartortle x Torkoal, followed by Gyarados x Rotom and then by Mismagius x Flaaffy.

Jappio July 4th, 2008 10:35 PM

Mobile Tsk, I thank you for the time you took to critique my work. It is well written and you make a good number of valid points. I agree with many of the points, and our opinion on some of the bests is also equal sometimes (although I can't seem to figure what is so great about Rotom+Starmie, I thought it ugly and boring).

A few points I can see myself actually using, and the other will be things that I will nitpick myself on everynow and gain. The rest of the points you made I might not always notice, but when I do it will drive me insane (you know, like when you're taught its "etc" and not "ect" and then every time you see "ect" it sort of bothers you).

Thanks again for the critique, and if you come back to critique the fakemon, I know it probably won't be pretty, but I'm sure way helpful (admitingly my fakemon aren't that good).

Also I feel I should mention a lot of the choices on Pokemon put together is not mine. I do a lot of requests and take a lot of suggestions from people most of the time. This though is not a good excuse, but putting it out there though.

Jappio July 26th, 2008 1:49 PM

Well finally finished the latest Fakemon. I am incredibly happy with the results. Not everything is as good as I wanted, but some of it is also better than what I was expecting.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

571 - Dratini
572 - Dragonair
573 - Dragonite
574 - Dragos: Dragon type. Evolves from 571 when it level ups to level 30 with "Evil Wish" held. "This pokemon's evolution is altered by evil, and due to this, unlocks unknown power. It is said that they gain strength the darkness of the night."
575 - Chaogon: Dragon/Dark type. Evolves from 574 at Level 55. Dragonite, but drop the speed and the attacks a little, raise its defenses. "Using the pure power of Chaos and evil, this Pokemon happily attacks all in its path, making sure to gain dominance over all."

576 - Beldum
577 - Metang
578 - Metagross
579 - Bishdum: Steel/Psychic Evolves from 576 at level 20 with "Holy Wish" attached. "This Pokemon is said to only be able to move in diagonal directions. It has a strong sense of good."
580 - Kingpiece: Steel/Psychic. Evolves from 579 at level 45. Think Metgross, but switch its P and Sp. attack, switch its P. and Sp. defense. "This pokemon fights with strategy, and likes to take command of a full army.

581 - Rocknuckle: Rock/Fighting type. Revived from fist fossil. "In ancient times its said this pokemon would make its nest out of rock, by breaking up the rock with its tail and making a place to lay.
582 - Stonefist: Rock/Fighting type.Evolves from 581 at level 35. Good P attack. Ok P. Defense and speed, bad Sp. Defense and Sp. Attack. "With it's powerful tail, it smash boulders apart and knocks trees down. Not hostile though, it could hide amongst other rocks thanks to its tough rock like back and hide from others."

583 - Anibone: Rock/Ghost type. Revived from Scrambled Fossil. "This pile of bones is possessed by a new spirit. Unfamiliar with the body though, it is unable to pull it all together.
584 Skelegeist: Evolves from 583 level 35 Rock/Ghost type. Good Sp. Attack. Ok P attack and Sp. Defense. Bad speed and P. Defense. "Gaining enough power to assemble the bones together, this Pokemon gains new confidence. Sadly it didn't quite do it right, and now has found nothing is in the right place."

Jappio August 26th, 2008 12:49 AM

Well this sheet has a lot of new odd things. The reason being, lack of requests online, and my friend was happy to fill in with all his weird requests. Well I better start explaining all this stuff.

First up we have the splice of the 4 fiends from Final Fantasy 4. It was a little hard to do, weird pixel style I'm not use to.

To the right of that, we have these little pink dudes. My favorite is the Uxie one, who I put into a contest, it won. I also gave it an advance recolor. If it were a Fakemon, I'd call it the color pokemon.

A little lower is another one of my recent contest winners. It also had to have a shiny color.

To the right, my friend asked that I spliced using sprites from green version. The first one, I chose Jolteon because for some reason its expression is awesome, plain pure awesome. It's like going "Yahh!!!". Well Raislash was just because I love those two Pokemon. The other two, more so random.

Middle left we have some kirby splices. Simple to do, but not much to work with. My friend asked for these.

Down and right, we have some Dragon Quest splices. A few colors since I couldn't find one I liked. Now that is what I call multiclassing =P. Also asked for from my friend.

Bottom left he may look familiar from my last sheet. He won his contest, but that was more so due to the fact that everyone else dropped out. I also had to make a fossil for it, which turned out great I think. I hear though that fossilization should be more so about splicing and recoloring, and that I went way too overboard, but whatever. Below I also made a quick little .gif of it too.

My friend also requested the ninja badge. I went with it since it was quick and easy.

Guess that's all I have to say, oh and another Jolteon head for safe measure.

Jappio September 2nd, 2008 5:42 PM

Well in my boredom I did my next splice sheet. Since I only got one request, I had to fill it up. Well I decided by filling it up with a Raislashes, one from each game. I also made a new type Raislash. I want to say I like the old one more, but at the same time I like the new one.

With Deviantart's recent strictness on my sprites, a whole bunch of my images broke. Well after re uploading most, I've fixed my first few posts.

Well got the latest Fakemon done today. Not a huge sheet, but it's enough.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/FakemonSheet11.png

585 - Pokayman: Flying/Fighting type. Good Sp. and P. attack. Ok P. Defense and speed. Bad Sp. Defense and HP. "This pokemon stands for truth, justice, and the Captace way! A Pokemon referred to as a true hero." (This Pokemon will learn a lot of different moves, all super hero related. Things like Aura Sphere, Blizzard, Extreme speed, ,etc...)

586 - Bookergeist: Ghost/Normal type. Good Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense. Bad P. Attack and defense and speed. "The text written in this possessed book is what they say powers this spirit. Using ancient arcana proves to be an effective method of battle for this Pokemon.

587 - Shrubly: Grass type. "Newly hatched from it egg, this Pokemon goes to the first thing its sees and attatches itself to it. It then will ride along with it for as long as it can."
588 - Bushent: Grass/Dragon type. Good Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense. Ok P. Defense and P. Attack. Bad speed. "Being so in touched with nature, this Pokemon can will the growth of plants around it. (I like how even by accident, dragons end up with 4X weakness to ice).

589 - Shuppet: Ghost type. "Attracted to vengeance, this Pokemon can be found around a good deal of bitter people. It often feeds off of this emotion."
590 - Banett: Ghost Type. "This doll now haunts the planet seeking it's own vengeance. It's a good reminder to never throw things away."
591 - : Ghost type. Evolves from 589 at level 37 with "Holy Wish" attached. "When this spirit gives up on the feeling of vengeance, and instead feeds off of emotions of forgiveness, it takes this new form."

http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs36/f/2008/255/c/4/Shun_Yu_by_Jappio01.png

This is my friend's current main role play character (the one who requests stupid things like Blastoise+F-Zero machines, and splicing the 4 Elemental fiends from FF4. Also the one who made the Starmie+Electrode). His name is Shun-Yu, he is a Chinese hopping vampire, or a Jiang-Shi to some. A little about his character:

-His arms are suppose to look like that, they are longer than a normal persons due to rigor mortise. Basically he is suppose to be in the shape of a "hairless, scrawny, gorilla with good posture."
-Hair should be a lot lighter, but it didn't look good so I darkened it.
-Boots are kind of boring and all, but he doesn't even know what they really should look like himself.

Anymore questions, feel free to ask, also critique and comments happily welcomed.

Yume Tsuki September 11th, 2008 11:03 AM

your fusemons are nice keep up the good work

Willoweon September 11th, 2008 11:57 AM

Ooh.. My favorite would either have to be the Mightyana+Espeon morph or the Geodude+Butterfree morph. I don't have any complaints, though the Groudon+Mewtwo's hands look to big for the mewtwo to support properly, but pokemon is fantasyish, so I think thats OK.

= GPR = September 11th, 2008 2:09 PM

Im sorry, but "Garydos" + Milodos is ugly! You took two of the most beautiful pokemon and turned them into something HIDEOUS! Besides that though, most of the other stuff looks great! Just remember, simple is sometimes better, as some of the ones you make are overdone! Keep up the great work!

mrpwnageisme September 11th, 2008 3:46 PM

HEY can you make me a rival for pokemon ruby?

Jappio September 14th, 2008 3:07 PM

No requests here mrpwnageisme, and anyways I don't do trainers for requests.

Here is the latest sheet, and my biggest. I mean, I got a ton of requests. The only non requests are the Link splice, and those recolors.

um... i dont know how to paste stuff on and i don't care so go on finther45/deviantart.com and go to my gallery. i have splices there. deviantart i s a great site!

Jappio October 12th, 2008 1:38 AM

Took me forever to even start doing these, much less finishing. Thanks though to me starting to develop some type of insomnia, I got some done (I really need to get to bed before 5 AM!). Well I have to say I love the Thorny Devil I made. It's now one of my favorite/cutest, at least I think so. Also I'm lazy and will be ceasing all the useless junk I had when describing pokemon. I'm now not going to bother to say level or stats of the Pokemon.

592 - Lighla: Psychic Type. "The markings on its body glow when this Pokemon uses it's psychic powers.
593 - Darvil: Dark Type. "This Pokemon is known for its visious style of fighting. With it's powerful arms, it can break down entire trees."
594 - Koalanian - Psychic/Dark Type. "This pokemon shares two very different personalities. It's versatility more than makes up for the lack of a sound mind though." (Currently my idea is that either the Koala or Tasmanian Tiger can evolve into this Pokemon.)

595 - Echindle: Fire Type. "It is said that you can tell the age of this Pokemon by the number of spikes on its back. No one knows how they get and or grow them."

596 - Thornz: Fire Type. "The spikes on its back aren't actual flames, they act as a warning. The warning is appropriate though as this Pokemon is a Fire type."
597 - Frillz: Fire Type. "When being threatened this Pokemon displays its crimson frill. It is said that they also absorb heat through the thrills."

598 - Smoochum: I don't feel like bothering.
599 - Jynx: I don't feel like bothering.
600 - Hexill: Psychic/Ice. "This Pokemon is capable of hypnotizing without even using its psychic powers. It's singing and dancing are said to capture the heart of anything." (Way of evolution pending)

As a bonus I've made a cool little animation of the Echidna Pokemon:

Oh and also I was thinking of doing something with the Echidna Pokemon involving Candle Jack but I never thou....

Those revamps aren't really revamps, they are recolors. Green sprites are terrible with anatomy, when you revamp you have to fix that, it would hone your scratch skills as well.

Otherwise you are very good I love your fusions mate.

Like, lots. Its so cute. TT3TT

Here is the latest sheet. For whatever reason this thing took me forever. The time it takes me to do a splice has actually increased recently, probably because I'm trying out some more advance stuff. Sadly I can't help but think I'm slowly moving into disguise territory more so than splicing =/. Well whatever, I like what I've done this time around, some cool stuff. Everything on this one was by request.

The repose on the bottom was a request from a friend, he wanted me to make a repose of Pikachu in Pokemon yellow style. I used the Super Smash Bros. Brawl pose for it.I then figured I'd revamp it, which went kind of Ok, but it is a bit small by today's standards =P.

I was also requested to mix like 8 Pokemon, but since one was Wailord, another being Combee, I decided to say "Screw that", that's too many things with too many different sizes and stuff, I don't feel like tackling something like that on request yet. If I do a 8 pokemon splice, I'll be choosing the Pokemon. Also was requested to do a Dialga + Palkia + Girantina (Origin Forme), but I am not doing it since it involves Origin Forme Girantina, which I don't have a free to use sprite of it, nor do I want to go find one.

This guy is my Role Play character Raizou, I've done sprites for him before, but those sucked.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/Raizou-2.png

Now to be fair I didn't just do this from scratch. I did make everything on this guy though. What I'm trying to say is I didn't edit someone else's sprite, but I edited my own. I some time ago made a Hulk sprite. Well what I did was take that, change the skin color, alter the pose, make him taller, down sized the muscles, gave him some more clothing and weapons. So a good loads of heavy edits to my own sprite, so I'm pretty sure you can still call it a scratch.

Jappio December 4th, 2008 10:23 PM

My non Poke sprites always seem to get a lack of attention. Well then maybe these Fakemon will spark some of your interest. I want to say in general I get no attention, but my view count on this is bigger than threads with more replies. I guess the people who look have nothing to say about them. Not sure if that is good or bad >_>

Well guys its been awhile and others spriting things have gotten in the way, but finally my Fakemon sheet is done. Loads of small families this time, but that is ok. I personally like Ghillie the most.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/FakemonSheet13.png

601 - Soots: Fire type. "Smoke comes out of its ears even as it sleeps. It's hands and feet are colored not naturaly, but by the soot it creates."
602 - Smoken: Fire type. "Smoken is said to have a raging fire inside them at all times. They themselves can control their body temperature and raise it high enough to burn enemies on contact."

603 - Ghillie: Ground/Grass type. "Laying on its belly, this Pokemon stays hidden until its prey gets near. It then rises up and burries it prey aliver underneath itself."

604 - Fruiton: Grass type. "This Pokemon does its best to avoid predators. Most can't avoid its sweet scent or juicy taste."

605 - Cometa: Psychic/Rock. "When people see Cometa from afar, they think it's a shooting star and make a wish." This Pokemon is suppose to be just like Solrok and Lunatone)

Jappio December 11th, 2008 4:24 AM

Sorry for the quad post, but I mean no one comments and I drop a few pages, so yeah....

Well here we go, the 40th sheet. Loads of requests and contest entries on here and the what not. I am missing two splices though.

It was suggested to me to do a splice of the 3 Regis, and a splice the psychic trio. Well with the many requests I've done, and the fact that splices like those I don't fancy, I've decided to deny that suggestion. I could probably make them, but I don't feel like it is the bottom line. I am not usually a fan of cliche, and those two ideas I found to be cliched. This isn't the first time I felt like doing this, there have been splices in the past I've done I just didn't like because of the idea. So a new rule is that I may just deny any suggestion that I dub cliche. Other things I could finch cliche are things like Pikachu+Lucario, Mewtwo+Deoxys, Charizard+Blastoise+Venusaur, just to name a few. Now if you do request something like these, I may do it still, depending on my load and how cliche I find it. Just don't get your hopes up. Now this doesn't mean go and try and pick the most obscure Pokemon to put together, just watch out for the really common type combinations.

Now that is out of the way time to explain a few things on this sheet.

The Bulbasaur disguise/repose if you can't tell is actually an Ivysaur. I took away Ivysaur's plant, and drew in a bulb. The two Pokemon look almost identical.

Venonat+Shuppet+Chimecho won me first place in a one on one match.

Luxray+Magnezone looked so much like a space ship, I decided to give it a background using the star from Luxray.

Breloom Fossil I did in my usual fossil style. My friend finds it hilarious that when I made my first fossil I went way farther than what a fossil is suppose to be (apparently they are suppose to be just some recoloring and editing to make it look like a fossil type Pokemon, instead of making the literal fossil/bone structure. I know Breloom may or may not have a bone structure since it is a mushroom plant thing, but I decided to ignore the logic =P

Ghastlax is way better than Licklax! Licklax was never that great to begin with! *Still is pouting at the fame and attention Licklax once got*

Xatu+Dialga has to be one of my personal favorites and best in my opinion. It was also one of the harder ones I've had to make.

Jappio December 15th, 2008 1:04 PM

Wow, I'm not quintuple posting. This really can't be avoided though, I mean no one responds to me.

Well I have now completed my video tutorial for splicing in paint. It doesn't quite show off too many advanced techniques, just because those things fall under actual spriting skills, and those take way longer to teach. The video is in 4 parts. I explain everything pretty in depth though, so I think it is worth it. Beginners I think can make pretty good splices if they stop and watch the whole thing. I also narrate it, so there isn't a ton of reading you have to do either. It is also done live, and the splice I did blind, so the example splice isn't my best, but it shows what needs to be done with most.

None taken, but any reason why. In fact what is it you don't like much? I mean I have a lot of different things here, and it'd be nice to know what I need to work more on.

Jappio December 25th, 2008 12:51 PM

Today is a special day. Day that only comes once a year. I like to think back to the past on this day, and think of all the new things that come. Long ago on this very day the world was changed. Something new was brought into the world. Many consider it a miracle. Ever since that time, people have thought about that miracle with joy in their eyes. Truly mankind was bettered by this thing.

Now long after it, I celebrate this time with all my heart. I think about those who don't believe in that miracle, and see it as nothing, and I almost question it. How could they not enjoy it? Well I try to forget that though, not to let myself down.

They say that on this day is the day for sharing and caring. I agree with that. Truly this day is very much about sharing. It's about letting your friends, family, and those less fortunate to all join together in harmony.

Yes, many days ago on this same day it all began. I think it would be proper for us to stop and think about that moment in time. How it has effected us so dearly...

I of course have been referring to my splices this whole time. That's right everyone, one year ago as of today I first started and debuted my splices. Apparently I had nothing better to do on Christmas than to sit around and combine Pokemon. Also not to long ago you may recall I posted my 40th sheet. Now I see this is a good accomplishment. In one year I've made 40 sheets of splices, at least about 6 on each sheet. I've made well over 240 splices that means. Well if you remember some time back, when I hit the 20 mark, I made a special sheet to show off the things that I adored and things I thought didn't' get enough spot light. So here it is:

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/40thAniversary.png

Well I hope you all enjoy this little treat. I know it's not much, but I mean I think it's a nice way to celebrate =P

Jappio January 3rd, 2009 1:30 AM

Well I have a new video. This time though it's just a simple demonstration video. It's me making a Fakemon. So I guess you can consider this a preview of the next Fakemon Sheet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcw-NzUPuvw

Mitchman January 3rd, 2009 1:42 AM

This thread is like you have an update of a website i cant believe your sprites arent popular. I still love em and keep spriting.

Jappio January 6th, 2009 1:41 PM

Thanks Mitchman.

A new Fakemon sheet and done. With this sheet done I also declare that soon the region will be complete, at least in concept. The only remaining Fakemon to make are legendaries. This also means that I think I could soon begin an RP for it. A few things still have to be figured out, but I don't predict said things to take too long. I also realized somewhere along the lines I screwed up my dex #'s. It's not too big of a deal since I'll be messing with the order later on. I should be at about 645 if I remember correctly.

So on the todo list:
-Splices
-Fakemon moves/other left out bits
-Figuring how to work the RP
-Deciding on the site I'll host the RP

That last one I wish I could decide on. I'm going to have to host it one location, I don't want to run like 5 different RP's. At the same time I feel bad about make everyone who wants to join it have to sign up on a new site somewhere. I also have to be smart about the site I choose. I don't want to flood the wrong site with a whole bunch of random users. If anyone has a good suggestion, I'm all ears. If you want it here, let me know, if you want it somewhere else, let me know. I'm open to suggestions and I'm going to probably go with what the fans want.

Spike Xian January 6th, 2009 5:34 PM

Okay I've benn looking through all your sprites. Now I must get to the hard part and um kinda criticise you. Now this doesn't mean your should stop I remember when I wasn't the greatest but I never gave-up. It's just I think I need to post something so here it goes (this is for your own good). Now first of all You do a decent job of making lineart but your Fakemon are very...well they're very un-Pokemonish and I don't really like them. Second of all you know what your doing when you splice but it seems like you get a little carried away and it's all copy and paste with no adjustments at all. I mean don't get me wrong and don't just quit but I think it works out better for a Spriter to receive some harsh criticism seeming as though I grew up in a harsh pixeling forum but it worked better for me and got me to get better. SO don't quit but improve and look for ways to improve. Study up Pokemon sprites, look for tutorials and you'll get btter, you usually do as long as you keep going and continue to learn.

Jappio January 6th, 2009 5:50 PM

Wow, you were really worried that I was going to quit just because of a tad of critique. Don't worry, I understand the purpose of critique. I myself critique people at another forum. I agree about the Fakemon not being very Pokemonish. I'm not very good at forcing my style into another one. When I try, it gets mixed up with my own. Admittingly though I dont' fight personal style too much, since I'm still new to spriting, I'd like to develope and enhance my own style. Once Fakemon are done, I won't be doing too many. I view my Fakemon as practice for spriting. Aside from that though I'm glad you like the line art. I think one problem is the concepts maybe. A lot of my things are plain, but that's because I'm a plain person at heart, and I like plain =P.

I don't quite get what you mean by getting carried away. Also I know I've done a lot of copy/paste in the past, but as of recently I thought I've been getting away from that more. Things like Dialga+Xatu, or Mewtwo+Kyogre I don't remember doing any Copy/paste. I can't say I'll stop copy/paste, sometimes it's fun, like a puzzle almost. I also see it like a specific style.

I agree with you, a spriter need critism. I post my stuff not jsut for praise, but for the critique. I want to be better, and I thank you for taking the time tell me what you don't like. I don't think looking up more Pokemon sprites can help me. I mean I've been dealing closely enough with them to make my splices and for some Fakemon.

Thanks again for the critisizing. I will try and keep these things in mind for the next time I do some spriting and what not.

Zee.kthxbai January 7th, 2009 10:16 AM

They're alright, and you certainly have quantity. I do like the luxray + magnezone, which is saying something because I hate it when fusions are obvious like that. I dunno, I've always considered it hack work, but I'm coming around slowly to it after visiting this site, so don't be too offended by my present opinion.

DarknessSneasel January 7th, 2009 12:22 PM

great work the fakemon are brilliant.
good luck with the rest

Spike Xian January 7th, 2009 4:52 PM

Well I'm glad you aren't immature like the others and I'm glad you will continue. I see some great sprits from you in the future. Also glad to see you accept criticism I've noticed some people who just get all whiney and get the admins to ban. I plan to actually check around here more and more to watch your progress. It's always nice to see a new spriter. Anyways keep up the new work and update me with your new works through some PMs it'd be pretty cool to watch someone get better cause it's fun to see people advance in spriting like I have since I was a newbie to spriting. Keep it up :)

Jappio January 13th, 2009 1:34 AM

Well here is good old sheet 41. The cool thing about this sheet is I actually have something that isn't a request. Seakirdraphlock is something that I picked the Pokemon itself for. I know this doesn't sound like much, but lately it seems like I do only requests. I also tried something new and different on that splice, I don't know if anyone will quite notice what though.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/SpliceSheet41.png

Jappio January 20th, 2009 11:49 AM

http://fc21.deviantart.com/fs40/f/2009/020/4/f/Tales_of_Raizou_by_Jappio01.png

Here is my newest sprite I've been working on. It's once again my RP character Raizou. This time though I have an all new style and purpose. I've finally been able to shrink the size of my sprites down. I was attempting to do it in the style of Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 for the GBA. It's a Japanese only spin off of the 'Tales of' series. I'm told it doesn't quite match that style. I seem to not be able to imitate style very well, since I can't seem to imitate Pokemon or 'Tales of'. I guess I don't mind that too much, I'm ok with having my own style.

This version of Raizou has a few small changes though. He is not wearing his gauntlets in this sprite. I did this moreso out of laziness though. Gray gauntlets holding a gray axe over gray chain mail is kind of hard to see, so I decided to not go with the hassle and just make him gauntletless. He also does not have belts going over his chest like normal. Instead his shield I'll just say is being held up by the belt across his waist. I didn't want to cover the chest I worked so hard on by them, so that's why I omitted him.

I plan on making multiple frames for this guy. The idea is I want him to be put into a fighting game. This is probably just his basic standing pose. Obviously I'm far from being now, but I got the first sprite out of the way. C+C would be greatly adored since I consider this one of my best works yet, and I want it just to get better and better.

hioco1 January 22nd, 2009 5:25 AM

Awsome work Jappio. Better presented than I have seen it before if you know what I meen. Lol keep it up man.

Jappio January 26th, 2009 11:37 AM

Today I am starting the RP for my region. Now for anyone interested, I will have to let you know it is not on this site. This is done because I didn't want to favor any site. This makes it fair for everyone. Now I have multiple spots open in this RP, and more can be made if I see fit. So feel free to come and join. Once at the site, make sure you look over the rules, I will be strict. To join make sure you PM me first so I can talk to you personally about it. Now you all may be wondering where the site is. Do to possible site rules I will not include in this post. Lets just say that looking in my profile may help for the search. Remember this region will be mirroring my Captace region, and will have all the Fakemon in it.

Jappio February 5th, 2009 6:29 PM

Well here is the newest sheet. Lots of stuff again though so let me explain a couple of things.

The top right Cubsaureon won me a one on one contest, its creation is also on my Youtube account, link here: Splicing Demonstration

The 6 part dude on the right is pretty neat. Gave me a ton of trouble but I think I worked it out. In case you can't tell, the two on the bottom with th beaks, those beaks are actually Celebi's wing. A little obscure, so I decided to point it out.

Trainer Orange is something I threw together for my RP. It's the character I'm playing. I also plan on her being the main female character of my region. Yes, it's official, my Game will be "Pokemon Orange", because it's an awesome color.

Hard to miss Kilos. He is one of my friend's RP character. It's basically known as a Quilin, a special dragon/unicorn beast. Has ram horns and the whiskers of an oriental dragon. The scales are rainbow colored and he is on fire. The middle bottom one is the one I"ve chose to be the best, the rest are either older versions or little experiments I was doing.

I actually made Quadpedal Mewtwo before I made Luxtwo. I realized when doing that splice I was doing way too little Luxray, but like Quadpedal Mewtwo, so I kept both.

Tried something different with Ho-Lugebi. I think a good word for it would be "hybrid". I could be wrong though.

Yes, I attempted making a Gundam out of Pokemon parts. The request also wanted it to be light green in color, but I decided to include classic blue also.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r15/Profit_Jappio/SpliceSheet42.png

I also have an announcement to make. For my next sheet or two, I'd like to actually REDO some splices. If any of you here think anything could be done better, let me know, I'll try and fix it up. Try and pick out stuff you'd like to see done better, instead of just picking random bad things that you don't care about =P

Jappio February 15th, 2009 3:30 PM

Well I've begun remaking all my Fakemon in the 3rd gen style. This not only allows me to try and remake/fix my Fakemon to look better, but make them actually fit into the limitations of a GBA game. If the time comes for these guys to be put to use now, they can. I've done the first 3 Fakemon I've done, and I plan to continue on in the same order. I altered poses for the 2nd two, edited the first form. C+C, ridicule, or whatever is all welcomed at this point. I plan to go back and fix anything I can.

TB Pro February 15th, 2009 7:35 PM

Wow. All your stuff is really great, especially your newer Fakemon. They are a large improvement on the old versions, so kudos to you for that. However, the first form looks too bland and boring, like a regualr bird. Anyways, keep it up, you're a great spriter! ;)

Queen February 15th, 2009 11:37 PM

Wow, your splices and fakemons are great!
I really liked the Steelix+Rapidash+Bastidon one.
Will you be making anymore?

Jappio February 17th, 2009 6:52 AM

Thanks for the C+C iPro, but in argument, Spearow, Pidgey, Tailow, and Starly all are pretty boring and bland also. It was my objective to do the same with my region's bird.

Yes I do plan to continue splicing, spriting, and all that jazz Itachi Senpai, I'm glad that you like my work.

Jumpluff February 17th, 2009 7:38 AM

Roselia + Purugly is really awesome It makes me like Purugly and the Fakemon are very awesome, I would love to see a Jigglypuff + Budew sprite. :D
+ Rep.

Ah, you got me there. They are just the same, and they work, so meh. Anyway, I really like the Gundom fusion, but I think it needs more of a metallic palette, or something. Keep it up;)

Crazyboy99 February 18th, 2009 2:48 AM

You have alot of sprites and they're all awesome!
Great job and keep it up :)

Hall Of Famer February 18th, 2009 3:44 PM

The sprites look gorgeous!

Jappio February 26th, 2009 10:48 AM

Well I've fixed up even more the birds, and got the Ratatta of my region, Muttle and Mutdirt. I like how both are looking. For Mutdirt, I kept one with out all the airborne dirt because I like how it turned out. Not much more to explain. As usual C+C and all that jazz highly welcomed. I'm very grateful for everything commented on the birds before, now they're better than ever =D.

Lol, nice job on the Muttle and Mutdirt.
Are they rodents like Rattata?

Jappio February 27th, 2009 4:18 AM

Nope, dogs, root word being "mut" they are though the equivilant of the Rattatta in my region.

Queen February 27th, 2009 7:28 PM

Oh, thats cool.
Can't wait to see more of your fakemon!

Nina February 27th, 2009 7:37 PM

Your scratches need some work. Overall on the outline and the coloring choices.
Not on the spriting side, I don't really like some of your evolutions you've given some pokemon. It seems that they are just there just to give every pokemon SOME type of evolution, not a real battle or any other purpose.
On the sprite side, as this is to showcase YOUR work, I don't think you should include the evolutions that don't have anything like seal and dewgong. But that's just my personal thought. I know it's allowed, but I just don't see this place as one to make a thread about your region (more Hacks stuff) more than your own talent. But again, people may view that differently.

I think you're splices are nice, some strange, some quite creative! :3
Jeeze, you've got so many. @[email protected]

(The FIRST one.)
For Raizou,
I think you need just a bit more shadow, it almost looks like one color, and that black outline doesn't help it much. But that's my veiw on solid black outline. When he's holding his weapon, it looks as if the weapon is on the ground and he's standing, but..It's too big to do that. Either make the weapon smaller, or have him holding a part lower down.

I'm writing as I scroll down. I see you've done better on page 4, but I wrote all that. ;_; So that's for anyone else who wants...I don't know.

Thank you very much. I was hoping for some critique, glad to see I got some. I will be sure to pay better attention to my borders and colors as I go along now fixing them all.

A lot of my evolutions I actually chose because I thought they needed evolutions. Things like Lanturn I love, water/electric is an awesome type, but the one I have seems to lack something in battle. I gave it an evolution for that purpose. The ones I split, I guess I did just for the sake of it. I thought of what I could do, and figured that a split evolution would be pretty cool for them. A way to enjoy the family, but in a different light.

Sorry for including actual Pokemon. I find though they organize things better, I wanted to show my region as a whole. I don't have any ROM-hacking skills or anything, so I don't plan on doing a ROM-hack myself, hence why I don't have this in another section like that. I suppose when I get my things remade, I'll exclude actual Pokemon, you make a good point.

Thanks, glad you like my splices =D

As for the way Raizou is holding his axe, he is strong enough to hold it one handed =P, he's a Norse disciple of Thor =P. On a more scientific note though, it could be held up that way if it is standing on the ground. I guess this is all a moot point due to the fact that is such an old sprite =P

Glad to hear that you think I'm improved a good amount.

I was mulling over what I said yesterday about the regions. I understand that some people don't have ROM Hacking skills but would like to show off their fakemon. It's just that I've been away for awhile, and I come back to 2-3 region sprite threads. I was fearing that some people would start threads just to advertise their home-made region, not so much their skills.

You show all your other work though, it was just a little paranoia in my head. But it would probably do well organizational wise to not show the original pokemon if they didn't evolve. xD You've already got a million sprites!

Doing any kind of spilce was fine, but I guess I might have not been able to see the uses for your evolutions, but you can. Happens sometimes in artistic creations.

ADDITION:
So at first on seeing a new thread I just look over the general amount to grasp any style difficulties. But I keep looking at the Fakemon. I don't normally post on anymore than just anatomy, but you seem to receive criticism well.

This is just what I think about some your evolutions, or continuity of original evolutions.
I don't know the names, so I'll go by numbers.

Spoiler:
#556, the alternate evolution of Shroomish. I actually like this one, seeing as it's more mushroom-ish, but I think that the eyes might be a little more akin to the other two, as in more black than white.
#569, evolution of Lanturn, I do like the whale idea, but the previous two, and the reason they are electric are because of the two light bulbs. I guess the horn may be lightable, but if you look at it alone without the other two, someone might not be able to see the connection beyond the colors.
#572, evolution of Venamoth. While there is a difference in looks, it's still a moth-moth evolution. It is a change, but I see it more as an alternante evolution. Venanat and Venamoth are both very...how say.. round and nice in style and looks. A spontaneous change into a very sharp and mean looking one throws me off, but it would make sense if it was a different choice.
#586-#587 The iceis...It's just a turn of position and some ice. It's not really an evolution, but more a different form such as a rotom form.
Same for #590 - 591, it's more just an alternate position. Not even a form, like a change between game.
I like the mud on #601. :3 (Yes, I can actually give compliments!)
-x- Jynx evo. I am offended as a woman.
#623, Kangaskan Evo (ish). So that's a male form I assume? I like it! Just maybe not a pouch, as I guess it doesn't take care of the baby.
#636.37, Beldum evo. The chess piece is...interesting. But I'm not sure if it connects well.
#641 - Dratini-alternate evo. I party see the connections, but maybe the second evo needs to be just a bit bluer to establish more of a connection. Just my own tastes, the spikes would be nice yellow, but I also just don't like the green. Like I said that's just my color tastes.

All suggestions! :3

Again, thank you again Lornami. I'm glad also that you see that I take critique well. Critique is a very kind thing, a thing meant to help each other. I use to critique somewhere, I know the purpose of it. I sadly have the nasty habit of arguing critique half the time, but that's my nature. Usually though it's on design choice =P

#569 is my pride and joy. It does me sad to think you're right about that. My whole idea behind the horn is the fact that between Lanturn and Chinchou, those two orbs get closer and closer, almost forming into one thing, the horn. I guess I might have to change something on it, I just don't know what yet. Perhaps I won't be able to keep it sharp anymore, change most the horn, add one ball on the end. I'm going to mis it though:(

572 and many of my other Fakemon have the idea of a more "wild"/"fierce" feel. For that one in specific, I didn't want to do an alternate evolution, since I feel that would in a way make Venomoth pointless. Some evolutions can be viewed as alternatives also, think of things like Scizor and Scyther, both usable. That's at least the idea I have. My region is suppose to be a bit more hazerdous, forcing evolutions to make the things living there capable of being hazardous back, hence Venomoth becoming Mothra like =P

I'll work on things like the ice and hole, I could do a tad more I'm sure.

Sorry for the Jynx thing. My friend also yelled at me, he thought I was being a bit sexist there too. I will say though that was not my intent. The whole skinny thing and stuff is in feferense to Vivian from Paper Mario. My idea behind the shape and stuff is that she has no true physical form under the dress, hense why it is shape the way it is, kind of like Vivian is. I guess if now I've offended two people, I need to rethink what to do with that, or more people will mark me as sexist =P. I guess though a change is necessary, I've made it a tad too humanoid anyway. Also the whole Vivian thing works better with a dark type, not ice psychic =P

Why I included a pouch and the Male Kangaskhan, I don't know.

Again, thank you. You've been a great help, and surely I will be able to benefit from the things you've said.

Deja Vu February 28th, 2009 12:55 PM

The Fakemon are really coming along nicely. You can hardly see any resemblance to fusions in them.

Nina February 28th, 2009 4:27 PM

If you don't want to change your joy, don't! I usually (internally, never say it) hate when my teacher asks me to add this or change that on an art, but sometimes I do like it better. I can understand that the horn is lighted, it's just something you might want to keep in mind if you ever 'wanted' to rethink it. It's good to accept critique, but on the flip-side you don't have to or need to do everything someone suggests. My teacher has told me some great idea, and told me some really really crappy ones.

I didn't quite mean to mark you as sexist. When I use a 'face' the sentence it is exaggerated or joyful, and the more I go on, the more I think I'm a feminist, "I am offended" was to appear haughty.
I actually didn't play the 1000 year door. But I looked "her" up.
Spoiler:
In the Japanese version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Vivian was biologically male. The is is explicitly stated in Vivian's character description, which is roughly translated as "One of the shadow group, Vivian appears to be a girl but is really a boy." Additionally, Goombella's Tattle reads: "That's Vivian. Of the shadow group, she's the youngest sister... er, brother."[1]
(Super Mario Wiki)

Jappio February 28th, 2009 7:11 PM

@Cheeseboy, what do you mean the fusions in them? My Fakemon are from scratch.

@Lormani, thanks. A good lesson point. I will still though try changing it, see which I like.

Also don't worry, I don't see you as a feminist. My friend also said the same thing, and I'm sure that means if two people saw it that, many more did but didn't have the guts to tell me =P. Anyways, as I said, it pointed out the too humanoid issue to me, so overall it helped, I thank you =D

Also I know that tidbit, but it doesn't change the reference, I merely wanted the shape and design =P.

Not a huge update, but I like it. While bored in one of my classes, I decided to make this guy. He is one of my RP characters, this guy is named "Dimitri".

He's some evil Half Elf dude, who lost his hands. Due to that, he can't control his powerful magic very well. He wear giant pieces of medals over his forearms, I call them arm maces.

After making the first pose (side pose) I decide to make more, and make a GIF of him spinning. I specifically wanted to make him 8-bit, like a Final Fantasy sprite, hence the lack of shading or anything like it. Perhaps I'll revamp him if class is proving to be boring again =P

Edit:
Well I finally got sheet 1 devamped and fixed up. The first 3 families of my Fakemon have been remade, and I like the result. I still have about 82 to go, but that's not too big of a deal.

Your new sprites look excellent and I'm sure you can do even better. Keep the good work up, Jappio.
