Counter Blissey
i know now wobbufet is no longer uber, most people will be using that instead.
but what suprised me, is how few people used counter on blissey, most experianced players expect the simple healing special wall that has become popular. but im starting to use this: [email protected] fash 252 defence EVs, 252 HP evs. Counter wish/Softboiled Aromatherapy Ice beam/seismic toss. now.... the general idea is switch into blissey while they have there special sweeper in play, wish first turn (most players will switch out at this point to there physical sweeper). they will then expect you to switch out, so they may go for a SD boost, or they may try to hit you first time (Eg. the oh so common outraging CBgarchomp) . this is when you hit them with counter, focus sash leaves you on 1 HP, OHKO's whatever pokemon they had in play, then you get wish bonus to restore your HP. i know this deserves to be in the strategies section, but whenever i post anything in there it doesnt get let through, so i thought id post this here to see what you guys think. |
Well, unfortunately, as soon as your opponent sees you have Counter on Blissey, they will just see it as setup fodder. With the amount of Sandstreamers running around, Sash is going to be useless, and DDers or SDers will just laugh in your face. And with those EVS, chances are it would survive a physical move anyway, also rendering Sash useless if caught on the switch. If you want a quirky set, try Defence Curl Blissey.

People don't use counter on blissey because it has better things to do. The idea that you want a wall to take huge amounts of damage is idiotic, espeially one as good with blissey. It also makes you set up fodder, and special attacks will rape you. Bear in mind many sweepers will also attack who they predict to be the switch in, meaning that blissey ends up taking an Ice Punch aimed at the predicted Glisgor. That screws your sash over and leaves you with a wall who cannot wall.
So yeah, standard sets are standard fro a reason. |
i guess so, but wouldnt wish account for most of the lost health from the physical hit?
anyways i guess it was a pretty stupid idea, i just see blissey could use counter and i thought hmmm :P |

Counter Blissey maybe good for a one kill, but it is then rendered useless after that kill once the surprise is up, this tactic is just as Cheap as Wobbuffet and FEAR Rattata/Smeargle.
|
Also, what are the opponents going to think when you keep blissey in on a physical sweeper? It makes for an obvious strategy that they will just switch out of.
