Darkrai Toysrus Question

So what's with the event this weekend, when you go to Toysrus's you get a ticket for each game pack you bring? Then you go in and fight the Darkrai?

How are people getting like, 20 Darkrai? Does someone in the store have to load it on your game pack or how does it go? I'm asking because a couple of us can't make it, and we're wondering if it's only one per person or something (because if it isn't, we would just give our DS's to him to get it for us.)

Well i just went today. You go to your Mystery Gift and tap Get via wireless. A Darkrai will be sent to your game. Then the game will automatically load and you have to go to any pokemart. there will be a guy waiting there and he will give you the Darkrai if you have an empty slot in your party. Its OT is Alamos (the town in the movie). It has a classic ribbon and is in a Cherrish ball. It is not the wild one. I talked to the woman who was conducting the event and she said you can only get one per game pak, period. Even if you come the second day. This doesnt mean you cant trade for more, which is what people have already done (EXTREMELY FAST). So if you went today and got one. You will not be able to get another tomorrow, on the same game pak. Once you go to the Toys r us, they should have a poster that explains all that i just posted. Hope this helped you out. EDIT: What is wrong with this post. It shows that this post never happened. Weird!

Just to say, I went and got a Darkrai today! I actually had a lot of fun talking to other people about Pokemon while I was there and got a cool Pokemon out of it! I would highly reccomend going if you already haven't gone!

Meh its fun. The only thing events ever gave me was the pokemon and a shiny from about 10 other gamers.

Toblerone June 1st, 2008 12:54 AM

My penpal in America went to the event. He likes his new Darkrai alot, but unfortunately he only has one game pack :(. He tried getting another one but couldn't, so i have to look elsewhere for one.

Bishopk June 1st, 2008 6:21 AM

It's not the ticket event, with the island or anything. It's a mystery gift, like a PBR Pokemon or the Manaphy they gave out last year. It's got the classic ribbon and the cherish ball, so any clones will have been AR cloned since it can't be put on the GTS.

So yeah, only one per pack. This is why I have a little brother.

The beauty of having 14 cousins all younger then you and all having the pokemon diamond and pearl I just took all there games and got one for all of them and then transfered them to mine they will never know.

Nice Lubricus. [Hey, I'm from Pittsburgh too lol.] Is this a two day event? Hopefully it wasn't only Saturday, I really want a legit Darkrai to rub in all the faces of my friends that forgot about the event like I did.

I'm pretty sure it's Saturday and Sunday.

Just got my two today, one for myself and one for my fiancee, Felt pretty old being there too, everyone else was at least 16 and younger. Saw one guy come in that was in his thirties, pokemon hat and t-shirt on, I felt a lot better after that.

I went with my son, and we both got a Darkrai, though he likes to ignore our orders a bit. We're both very new Pokemon players, still playing through the story. Maybe he's disobedient because he doesn't like me yet? Or because my highest Pokemon is only level 22? :)

Also, are these events frequent in the US? This is the first one I've heard of, through a TRU email newsletter. Glad I heard about it. Where could I sign up to be told when these events are happening?

The higher level Pokemon you have means you're gonna need more badges. I think like 3 or 4 for a level 50ish one to obey.

As for this one, I dunno. This was my 1st event I went too.

It refuses to obey because you probably don't have enough Gym Badges. For high-level Pokemon to obey you, you need a lot of gym badges. Fortunately, that only applies to traded Pokemon. It's mainly to prevent someone from trading you a level 100 Palkia and sweeping the entire game.

As for when these events occur, most of us frequent the number of Pokemon fansites on the internet, such as Serebii, Bulbapedia, or Pokebeach. They often post up-to-date Pokemon news, such as Darkrai's giveaway- we actually had a full month's notice of his event.

Anyway, most of the people with 20+ Darkrais probably clone, or have 20+ different Pokemon saves on their flashcarts. Myself, I had Diamond and Pearl on my flashcart, which meant an extra 2 Darkrai for me. :)

Hammerfel June 1st, 2008 12:16 PM

Thanks! Yeah, I only have one Gym badge right now. I have to say this promo worked. I bought the first Pokemon game when it came out, but didn't stick with it, then I bought Emerald, and now Diamond and Pearl for me and my 6 year old son, and it wasn't until this promo to go to TRU and get a rare Pokemon, where I saw about 10 people hanging out together with their DS's that got me really hooked. The social & trading aspect got me.

So, how often do these happen? Once a month? Once a year? Is this the first TRU one? Where else do they happen in the US?

They'll pop up every once and a while.
Promo events, such as for a debut of a movie, can trigger one in Japan, and could lead to the US getting one later on.

It is not the first TRU one, I believe. Events are far more common in Japan, but the US will receive a few over the years. There is still yet to be at least two more events in America.

Bishopk June 1st, 2008 12:29 PM

Nope, the Manaphy event for the Pokemon Ranger movie was the first (and only other) one.

sirboulevard June 1st, 2008 3:17 PM

Yeah, I got mine today and it sucked only getting one Darkrai. My friends wanted one too, but they all forgot their gamepacks (Epic Fail). I do love the Event moves. A Darkrai that can use Roar of Time and Spatial Rend is really awesome. Oh well, it was a fun event.

Apathetic_Yen June 1st, 2008 3:21 PM

man my darkrai SUCKS! Adament nature. WHY? of all natures adament! It lowers my most useful stat and ups my most useless stat, ATTACK?! why?!

oh well at least I got one

Azonic June 1st, 2008 5:13 PM

I actually tried to get another Darkrai at the event. It's not like the employees won't let you get two, its that the game won't give you another Darkrai. I don't really know how some people got so many Darkrais. TwilightBlade knows, she has like, 30 of them. o.o;

You guys all suck. My Darkrai is Relaxed.
Then, I got one on my Pearl version and it had Naive. 8D

Cloning. Either that, or having 30 or so DP saves on a single flashcart.

Random_Colours June 2nd, 2008 2:42 PM

I was immensely disappointed when I found out darkrai was for americans only (as in not for Canadians...)
I had been excited for a month ofr nothing (even though I ahven't played pokemon in a few months, I wanted that darkrai D: )

Raiph June 2nd, 2008 5:20 PM
