Catching Latias
Hey I have picked Latias on Emerald version. Is there anyway I can track him down if
I don't have him on my Pokedex? All I need help with is tracking him down, I have a Master Ball. Thanx in advance=) |
Yeah Latias should be on that route in front of Slateport City.
|
The thing is Latios/as don't stay on one ROUTE, It is like the Legendary Dogs in the GSC series, though the dogs moved everywhere on the region, the Lati's like to stay in a certain area. They are a pain to catch so here is some advice...
Make sure you have these Pokemon with these moves. At least one Trapinch with the ability called Arena Trap. Make sure it is lvl40. ALL Pokemon are to be under Lvl 40 or the Repels will not work. A Pokemon that knows surf. A Pokemon that knows fly. A Pokemon that knows Sweet Scent. The Pokemon Tropius is good for this as it can learn both Fly and it naturally knows Sweet Scent. And some Repels, stat-restoring items like potions, full heal. I did this in Sapphire and it worked just fine, but I think you should stay in the area of Maulville City, Fortree City and The city with the big "Mall". :P Forgot the name of the place but you know where I mean. Yea, search around those areas, every time you change routes, so does Latias, so sometimes use fly to get to Fortree City to trick the A.I (Does not work all the time) and go left or right to the grass. It is hard... It can take minutes, days, weeks and even months, but keep trying. |
Oh well that's how it worked for me. didn't know it woudln't be the same. ;/
|
Here some tips :
Get the Acro bike and go to any route. Go to the grassy part and use repel then use the acro bike to bunny hop by holding B and wait for a very very very long time. Eventually Latios or Latias will apear then use masterball. NOTE : All of your pokemon must be LVL . 40. If you dont want to wait that long you could put a heavy object covering the B button and do something for a while. |
What i actually did was mix records with my friend who had already caught Latias. Then went to his Hideout and battled him so that Latias appeared on my Pokedex as seen. That made it much easier to track Latias. I also used a Wobbafet because its ability (shadow tag) prevents Latias from fleeing the battle.

I also have another question: Can some1 give me some pointers on how to catch Kyogre, Groudon and Raquaza? I caught Kyogre but it was difficult with him being at lvl70. |
Catching Rayquaza :
|
well actually instead of adding him through a friend if you havent flown after defeating the elite four for the first time, and dont fly to get there it should appear on the route next to the city with the mall
wat i suggest with raquaza is causin a status effect of course mostly putting him to sleep before he does it himself and just lower his hp until you are able to catch. do that a few times and it should work easily. mostly all the legendaries save before facing them, cause a status effect to make it have more of a chance to catch (i suggest sleep), inflict damage as low as you can, then start throwing balls at them and hope the catch, if you faint them. just turn it off and since you saved before you'll be able to try again and again until it works |
Hey guys good news, I caught Groudon and Raquaza today=) I caught them both on only
my second try! I'm no rookie when it comes to pokemon (been playin' for roughly 10 years) but sometimes those legendary pokemon can be a pain. Now on to Latias! |
yea they can and also if u come to latias save ur masterball but im sure u knew that
|
I am saving my masterball for Latias, the trouble is finding her =)
|
yea but the pokedex helps in some ways of finding her

2. Catch a Wobbeffet/ Crobat with high speed and Mean Look (Make sure they are a higher level than the wild pokemon on the chosen route) 3. Go onto a route where Latias appears often. A few are the route under the 3rd Gym and the route with the Safari Zone. 4. Save right before you enter the route. 5. Go onto the route with your Pokemon with Shadow Tag or Mean Look in front and use a Max Repel. 6. Walk around/Ride around until the repel runs out. 7. If no Latias, leave the route and go back and repeat steps 5 and 6. ^^ This always works for me. And it is very fast. |
i just used a masterball
all u have to do is save it till u find latias/os |

No because (correct me if im wrong) sweet scent atracts pokemon even if you use a repel .
|
Kyogre and Groudon can be caught without harming them without all that much trouble
|
Good News!! I caught Latias, it was easy with these tips. I found him in probably a little under 5 minutes. Thanx guys=)
|
Latias is a she =) Glad you found it though. I would have advised that you use loads of Max Repel and walk around a bit, but everyone else's advice was much better.
|
don't use your master ball catch a high level ghost or train one then use mean look then hypnosis and catch it then you can use your master ball for trade and yes it works because I never got my masterball I missed it
