Thanks. I know it's strange, but it was an assignment in my art class. If you haven't seen tessellations (besides this one) before, you may consider searching Google to fully understand the technique.

UPDATE: Added new "Fakemon: Fericity" pic to the Traditional section.

You know what? Chansey is fat. Let's put her on a diet.

Herishi/Fericity - Felicity Pokemon - Normal/Light(?)

This may seen pretty strange to most of you, but this Fakemon was created as an alternate evolution of Chansey. It's Japanese name, Herishi, means "healthy," while the English name, Fericity comes from a combination of "fairy" and "felicity."

Her concept was based on a glowing angel that watches over sick children. I actually saw one when I was young.

Fericity evolves from Chansey when she is holding the Music Box (a hold item that increases Special Defense), has Max Happiness at Level 50+, has full HP, and is not affected by a Special Condition (including PokeRus).

Like Chansey and Blissey, Fericity has outstanding HP and Special Defense. She can also now learn Sky Attack and Fly.

Also, pay close attention to the tails. Look familiar?

Nice stuff Kouga, that is a very nice piece. It's so... well I don't know how to explain it, it's just really nice to look at. Good stuff man.

UPDATE: Added new OracleArrivals: The Final Battle pic to the Traditional Section.

As an assignment for my Two Dimensional Foundation course, I had to create a representational image that tells a story which includes design elements as in a template included with the assignment. The options for the subject matter could vary between personal experience, something I have read, or total fantasy. I chose total fantasy.

This particular image is a scene from my fantasy story *Mystic*Legends: A Tale of the Oracle Arrivals. It is a scene depicting the final battle against the evil (dragon). The characters in this illustration include (from left to right) Kj'kun (a Neko), Suntahr (an angel-like character called a Ciengel), Dragon Resurko (the ultimate form of a demon that posessed an archaeologist named Resurko), and a Phoenix (foreshadows an event to come).

Nice! Even without shading or colors it seems incredibly vibrant. And the style suits the material perfectly.

UPDATE: Added Millenium Puzzle to the Traditional Section.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to Season Zero of Yu-Gi-Oh!, so I've had it on my mind for about a week.

On the 2nd day of watching it, I got the urge to make something, but I didn't know what. I eventually built 2 decks of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.

I still had the urge, so I make something, so I attempted to make a fake Yu-Gi-Oh! card featuring one of my characters. It was alright, but could have been better.

Later that night, my dad and I were talking about Yu-Gi-Oh! and we started talking about Hane-Hane, The Wicked Worm Beast, etc. and how we used to use them all the time (since my first deck was Starter Deck Kaiba).

I eventually challenged him to a game using the decks I had sloppily made earlier. He chose the Dark (Spellcaster/Fiend) Deck and I used the Earth (Beast/Warrior) Deck. He won. We switched decks after that and I won. I guess the Dark deck was just better. If I had used my real deck that was back at my dorm, I would have won hands-down.

Anyway, I had to come back to campus and I still had Yu-Gi-Oh! on the mind. I first started making manga-style cards, then I got an idea. I wanted to make a Millenium Puzzle!

All I had to work with was 1 sheet of card-stock paper, masking tape, rubber cement, and gold paint (that's mostly because I'm an art student).

After several hours of work, I was done! It could look alot better, though I'm still pretty happy with it.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is (c)1996 Kazuki Takahashi.

Also, just finished Dark Magician Girl pic:

Traditional section.

http://fc45.deviantart.com/fs42/f/2009/096/a/2/Koban_Amulet_Coin__by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

It's a Pokemon version of the Japanese
coin koban that features Meowth and
Mew. The koban is what you see held
by the maneki neko and is also what the
coin on Meowth's head is.

And for kicks and giggles...

DON'T TELL ME POKEMON AREN'T REAL!!!
I saw a Meowth in my living room last night! I even caught it on camera!

UPDATE: Added new "Hitoaisu Kitsunenohi" pic to the Traditional section.
It's not complete, but I think it's looking pretty darn good. Definately my
best painting thus far (in my opinion). The title means Fire & Ice, Fox of
Fire. As I stated before, it isn't complete (I don't see any ice). The other
half will feature a Yuki-onna (Hitoaisu Yukionnanoaisu), which you can
already partially see. [CLICK HERE TO VIEW IMAGE]

UPDATE: New Maneki Neko SCULPTURE added.
http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs44/f/2009/139/f/b/Home_made_Maneki_Neko_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
That's right! I made a sculpture. One of the few non-2-D artworks here (the others being the Millenium Puzzle and the Koban). By looking through my art, you may realize that I really like cats, especially the Maneki Neko. Well, I've been a maneki neko fan for a while now and, since I haven't bought one yet (though I plan to within the next few months), I decided to sculpt one out of clay. This is the result. Not great, but not horrible, either. I read somewhere that the normal (white) maneki neko represents good luck, while the black maneki neko represents good health. The symbol on the backside of this maneki neko means "health."

UPDATE: Added new "Mako <3 Touma" pic to the Hand/Digital section.

Definately not my best work... It was my first attempt to do Minami-ke fanart and I'm not very used to doing these kissy scenes. They look so much better in the anime.

If you've never watched Minami-ke, I'll fill you in on some info about these characters. The one on the left if Mako-chan and the one on the right is Touma. One is a guy and one is a girl, but can you tell just by looking?

Makoto (Mako-chan) is a boy who was in the youngest Minami sister's (Chiaki) class. One day, he gets invited to her house to study. While there, he ends up getting a crush on the oldest Minami sister (Haruka), but Chiaki doesn't like this, so she gets mad at him. Makoto wants to go back to Minami's place, but can't go without a disguise. The middle Minami sister (Kana) gets the idea to disguise him as a girl, thus Mako-chan was born.

Touma is a girl in the same grade as Chiaki, but she looks rather boyish. She seemed rather touchy to sexist remarks, so she demanded that the other guys treat her as a boy. Seeing as Touma had the same last name as herself, Chiaki adopted her as her younger brother. While at the Minami (not the "other Minami") residence, Touma was to be treated as a boy and dress as a boy.

If you watched the series, you would see why I think these two would make such a cute couple.

Minami-ke is (c)2004-2009 Koharu Sakuraba.

The tanuki is said to have the ability to shape-shift.
Could this be his true form?

His name is Japanese for Autumn.

Fairly large update...

Spoiler:
3D Electrode added to Digital section
http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs46/f/2009/166/9/1/Electrode_Cl_Am_Fo__by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
"Electrode Classic American Foil." I tried to replicate the type of foil used on Classic American Pokemon cards (Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil) and made a pic to apply it to to see how well it works. I think it works pretty well. I'll try to make a card with it. Pokemon is (c)2009 Pokemon/Nintendo.

Spoiler:
Seadragon Fakemon added to the Hand/Digital section.
http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs47/f/2009/171/8/2/Fakemon__Dracocean_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
Just a fakemon I made up about a month or so ago that I recently colored. Like the Horsea line, this line was based on the seadragon; however, instead of keeping the seahorse/seadragon shape, this one turns into a sea serpent. Dracocean is the name of the big one. I dunno what to call the small one yet.

Spoiler:
Jirachi: added to the Hand/Digital section.
http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs47/f/2009/171/0/0/Jirachi_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
While trying to get to sleep last night, for some reason, I got the urge to draw Jirachi. I kept putting it off because I didn't think I would be able to do it very well, seeing as I don't draw Jirachi that often. I finally got so bored that I ended up picking up that paper and pencil and doing so. I don't think it turned out too bad. Pokemon is (c)2009 Pokemon/Nintendo.

UPDATE: Added new Nidoqueen pics.

http://fc00.deviantart.com/fs49/f/2009/200/a/4/Nidoqueen_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

You know, I think this is the very first Nidoqueen picture I have drawn. I have to say I am quite pleased with it. I hope you all like it as well.

The background for the first image came from the New Mexico Department of Transportation website.

Pokemon is (c)2009 Pokemon/Nintendo.

UPDATE 2: Added new Delibird pic.

http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs49/f/2009/201/4/6/Delibird_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

Because I love Ice-type Pokemon, I have the urge to draw them. I want to make a fake card set that is based around Pokemon owned by me (which are mostly Ice-types, with few exceptions such as Dragonair, Milotic, and Nidoqueen), so I'm trying to draw up some of my favorites so I can do just that.

This is the first Delibird pic that has turned out for me. I usually start drawing the eyes and, for some reason, it becomes ugly. I managed to preserve Delibird's cuteness in this picture, though.

Here's an extra little treat for you guys: a Delibird avatar. You'll need to resize it to 130x130 pixels in order to use it here.

I hope you guys like this!

Pokemon is (c)2009 Pokemon/Nintendo.

UPDATE: New "My Shugo Eggs" image added.

http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs47/f/2009/218/2/5/My_Shugo_Eggs___3D_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png

I'm a big fan of the anime "Shugo Chara!" (aka My Guardian Characters), so I was inspired (actually a long time ago) to make my own eggs and characters like are in the show. I had already designed Maneki (and egg) and Kitame, but they are in desperate need of concept updates. I redesigned Maneki's egg and finally made Kitame's egg and another egg popped out. I'm not very good at making 3D objects (my rendering skills suck), so I just try to make them 3D-ish with GIMP. I'm not a huge fan of 3D work, but, since the eggs in the anime are 3D, I figure mine should be too.

PikaFreak August 7th, 2009 12:37 PM

My favorite is the Froslass painting!

Newly Added: My Shugo Charas!

http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs46/f/2009/223/e/1/My_Shugo_Charas_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png

Inspired by Peach-Pit's "Shugo Chara!" anime/manga, these are my Guardian Characters:

Maneki (MAH NAY KEE) is a neko character who represents my cat-like nature and desire to be able to make money without having to work hard for it (but who doesn't). He's pretty lazy, but adept to finding loose change. Unlike Kitame, Maneki can Charater Transform (see Nekoban Ryo). Remarkably, he is quite useful in battle. He hatches from my black egg.

Kitame (KEE TAH MAY) is an artist character who represents my desire to be a better artist and help design characters/creatures/objects for stories, shows, and games. He has a rather shy personality, but gets hyper when hearing or seeing something about anime. His abilities allow him to make objects (not animals or people) just by drawing them, which comes in handy when it comes to battles. Kitame can Character Change with me, but, unfortunately, he cannot Character Transform. He hatches from my white egg.

Shimo (SHEE MOH) is based on a snow-boarder and represents, not only my love for cool weather, but my desire to be a more outgoing person. He has a cool attitude. Little is known about this lil' guy's abilities. He hatches from my blue egg.

--- --- ---

If you pay attention to my art you may notice something that could be called an "easter egg."

Look at Kitame's hair-style. Look familiar? It's the same style as my OC, Kj'kun Neko.
Take a look at Maneki's hair. Have you noticed that it is the same style as my OC Aki the Tanuki?

Unlike Kitame and Maneki, Shimo's hair is not based on any of my previous OC's.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ August 12th, 2009 4:29 PM

These are really great, I'm digging the snowboarder because I do snowboard. But about him his open eye should be fix (unless if you did that on purpose?)

Wow, I haven't updated this thread in ages. I guess that's because I haven't been able to draw much for a while. I have very limited free time now, but I recently did try sketching a few things.

UPDATE: New pics added.

http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs50/f/2009/280/0/8/Nekoban_Ryo_redesign_working_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
Nekoban Ryo Redesign_working is my attempt to, obviously, redesign my OC 'Nekoban Ryo' (which you can see at the top of the first post). My reason for doing this is because, since he is a Charanari (Character Transformation) of 'Anime Me,' seeing as 'Anime Me' (and real me) have facial hair, I needed him to have facial hair. I'm also making him look more like 'Anime Me.' Other than the head, though, very few things are going to be changed.

http://fc06.deviantart.com/fs50/f/2009/267/2/7/Starter_Concept_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
Electric Naked Mole Rat? is an attempt to redesign my Electric/Ground starter for HeavenEarth Version. Its original name was Zerble (horrible combination of Zap+Gerble), but it will eventually have a name-change. I'm open to suggestions.

Yuoaman October 13th, 2009 2:36 PM

That Zerble-thing is just ridiculously cute.

And I like the work that you've done so far on the redesign.

icycatelf November 17th, 2009 5:18 PM

Thanks. Sorry it took so long for me to reply, but I figured I had better wait until I had a pic to update with. I didn't think it would take this long.

UPDATE: Chibi Kj, Shugo Nekaisu?
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs50/f/2009/337/c/8/Chibi_Kj_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

An attempt to make a chibi version of my OC, Kj'kun. It looks like it could be a Shugo Chara. Maybe Maneki and Shimo (2 of my Shugo Charas) could fuse to make this?

This is more or less concept art, so I colored it quickly and rather sloppily. I'm not a big fan of the result (drawing or coloring), but I assume, if it's like most of my work, it will grow on me.

Thanks.

Awesome. I'll have to make some sometime. :3
Any of these characters in particular that you're interested in modeling?

icycatelf December 21st, 2009 7:13 PM

Not really been producing much of anything as of late without assistance. Here's another update.

*Sandshrew Plushie Collab.
Another Pokemon plushie. Less of my own work went into this than my Dusparce plushie. My mom did most of the work for this, pretty much all of it in fact, but I did have some input. I made the drawing for her to go by and I added highlights to the eyes. Other than that, I did nothing but throw out suggestions. However, that's still enough to call this a collaboration. Besides, this deserves to be shown off and my mom doesn't have a dA or a PokeCommunity account. Made with some left-over felt. Measures about 6.6" tall.

*Calcifer Gift Art
Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle. A Christmas present for one of my friends.

*Arceus Sketch _working
Just a sketch of Arceus. My recent 'goofy' Arceus fake inspired me to draw a more serious one. It's far from done, but I think it's turning out nice.

*SnowManeki Neko
Not much to do inside today, so my sister and I put on coats and gloves and went outside. I started building something out of snow. I was going to make a snow Pikachu, but I changed my mind and decided to make a snow Maneki Neko. My sister helped a lot, though I'd say we did about the same amount of work (it's highly possible that she did more). The base was done by each of us, though I got it started. My sister made the awesome ears. I made the bell and koban. My sister made the arms. I made the bell. She made the facial features. I made the tail (can't see in this pic). Including the ears, it's about 3 feet tall. Check out my sister's gallery here.

Yuoaman December 21st, 2009 9:08 PM

I love the plushies, Kouga... I have to say that I'm quite sure that I could see myself paying for that Dunsparce one. :D

I'm also a big fan of that Calcifer - he's my favorite character too - that candy cane makes it awesome. :P

icycatelf December 22nd, 2009 8:21 AM

Thanks. I really wish real (official) Dunsparce plushies were made... Buuut, I guess The Pokemon Company didn't think it had enough fans... even though I've talked to many Dunsparce fans... and Dunsparce is awesome. Serene Grace + Ice Beam combo <3.

Thanks again! =D

Trent_Jayir December 27th, 2009 2:17 AM

Plushies look brilliant! : O.
Dunsparce is awesome! *gave it headbutt +serene grace, glare was useful xD;*
and i love the sandshrew one, thats really cute.
The arceus sketch is looking pretty cool so far too. want to see it finished.

icycatelf December 28th, 2009 10:17 AM

Thank you, Trent.

I agree. Dunsparce is amazing. I personally prefer Ice Beam + Serene Grace, but I'm just an ice fanatic.

I'm glad you like my works. I will try to finish the Arceus pic soon, though I will probably work on some new stuff before that happens. Actually, I've already started on something different.

A new OC. Possibly Makoto, Kj's cousin who I've been trying to design for quite some time.

icycatelf December 30th, 2009 9:35 PM

UPDATE: New "Makoto: Coloring Test" pic added to the Hand/Digital section.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb312/uhlone/Makoto_th.png

It's Kj's cousin, Makoto! I've been trying to design his concept on and off for nearly half a year.

Makoto is a special kind of Neko known as a "Nekomata," or twin-tailed Neko. Also, unlike my other Neko characters, he has no element applied to him. Instead, he is a "Blood" Neko(mata) that can change the attributes of his body at will or, in other words, shape-shift. Most commonly, this ability is used to transform into a cat (Xane can do this because he has some 'Blood' Neko blood) or a human, but further techniques can be developed, such as those that allow one to 'shape-shift' individual parts of their body. However, regardless of what the body is transformed into, it is still living. This can result in some horrific and grotesque weapons.

Don't worry. The pic is incomplete. He WILL have arms, legs, etc. I may add more markings. I dunno what he'll wear as of yet.

His original design was going to have black hair (right), but that didn't look great in my opinion (though it is starting to grow on me).
I tried brown (left) and it looked better, IMO. What do you guys think? Feel free to suggest eye colors as well.

UPDATE: Millenium Puzzle Cosplay Prop
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/027/f/2/Millenium_Puzzle_Cosplay_Prop_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
This is, I think, my third attempt to create a Millenium Puzzle and is probably my best. I created a papercraft (which can be found here) and used it as the base. I printed a second copy of the papercraft and cut out all the pieces (everything that is outlined) and glued some of them to the base to give it some relief. Afterward, I coated it with 4 layers of heavy-body acrylic paint (which helped to smooth it out, to make it look like it wasn't made of paper) followed by a coat of normal acrylic black (for whatever reason). I used a jump ring for the hoop at the top (which you can't see much of in this pic). I then finished it off with 2 or 3 layers of metallic gold spraypaint.

Sorry about the poor image quality. The only camera I have is the one built into the DSi. My mom has a high-resolution digital camera, but I didn't feel like putting forth the effort to get it. :P

Trent_Jayir January 31st, 2010 1:15 AM

xD *this sounds so much like my core drill.... especially since the only camera I have was MY Dsi too...*

Thats really well made though, the acrylic to make it look like its not made from paper was a clever idea (Paper must mean its pretty light still, though?) plus the relief details make it look great~ a really good replica~! from this i assume you're going to cosplay as Yu-gi?

icycatelf January 31st, 2010 9:42 AM

I saw. It looks great. :)

Thanks. Yeah, since it was made of paper (cardstock), it's pretty light.

Haha... I wouldn't be able to pull off a Yugi cosplay. I like the idea of cosplaying, but I don't do it... I may, however, still wear the puzzle during duels. lol

Trent_Jayir February 1st, 2010 7:38 AM

lol! Cosplay can be scary. But his hair would be hella difficult to pull off x____X;;;
Though, wearing that for duels earns you like, bonus cool points 8)

icycatelf February 2nd, 2010 2:33 PM

Yeah, really.

Nevermind. I won't be wearing that one. I'll be wearing THIS one!
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/033/4/9/Millennium_Puzzle_T3_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
And here I thought my previous was sexy. lol

kyunyo February 2nd, 2010 6:56 PM

Woah... that's so much drawings. =O A shame my internet hates me so much I'm not able to open all of them. xD But from what I see so far, that's a lot. =O
How long have you been drawing? C: And how long does it take you to draw one picture? xD (I think this question has been asked before, but too lazy to look through the comments, haha. xD)

I really like it~ C: Do you have a tablet to color digitally? =O

(Lol, sorry if I'm asking so much questions, I'm just curious. xD)

EDIT:

OMG, IS THAT THE MILLENIUM PUZZLE THING? O__O IT LOOKS SO FRIGGIN AWESOME.
I agree with you man, that is totally sexy. o3o -loves the shininess-

icycatelf February 3rd, 2010 2:37 AM

I recently noticed that a lot of those links won't work properly because, apparantly, when I started grouping my deviations, the URLs changed. I'll try to fix that later. I've been drawing for a long time, but I first started getting serious about it back in 2003, but my 'better' drawings have occured since 2007. The time it takes for me to draw a picture depends on what the drawing is of (a human/humanoid character or animal/creature) and the amount of details. I can sketch most Pokemon under 30 minutes, but it takes about 15+ minutes to clean up the lines (which I usually only do when I'm going to color it). I usually spend 1+ hour(s) sketching my original characters, which is probably about how long it takes for me to draw other human/humanoid characters, but I've never timed myself. Time to color the image varies depending on the coloring style I use (one of my favorites, the one used on 'Dark Magician Girl' and 'Kj Again'/'Kj with Banner,' takes 2+ hours while another favorite of mine, digital watercolors, like those on 'Aki Colored,' takes less than 20 minutes, usually).

I'm glad you like them. Unfortunately, I do not have a tablet to color digitally. Just a mouse pad.

I don't mind all the questions. I'm happy to answer them. :)

Yes, that is the Millennium Puzzle thing. Thanks. ^^

kyunyo February 3rd, 2010 10:49 PM

Ohh... I see. It'd be nice to see all of the works you did. xD haha.

That seems really fast...x__x I take hours to decide on what pose, maybe cus I'm so indecisive... You're really dedicated to your work, that's good~ XD

WOH. REALLY? Just a mouse? That... that really takes a lot of time and patience... o_o; (And it gives hand cramps doesn't it? X_x)

xD No problem, it looks really real and looks awesome~

icycatelf February 4th, 2010 4:38 AM

Well, the best way to view all of my works is my clicking here.

I occasionally take time to figure out a pose, sometimes even take a pic of myself as a reference), but it usually just happens as I draw.

Eh, I'm used to the mouse. I've been using it for years, so it doesn't bother me.

^^

Trent_Jayir February 5th, 2010 9:55 AM

mouse=pain in the backside. i don't even use them as a pointer i hate them so hard.
you= a god for being able to use one. *all hail ye. all hail*
that updated puzzle= super-special-happy-awesome.
seriously, the details have all been picked out so well @[email protected] a huge improvement on the last one!

icycatelf February 5th, 2010 3:30 PM

Why do people have the urge to worship me today? You're the second one.

I think so too. Thanks. :)

Here are some more Millennium Items that I've been working on:
http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/035/4/f/Millennium_Necklace_and_Eye_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/035/1/9/Key_and_Rod__working_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/036/a/9/Millennium_Ring__working_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

The Millennium Necklace needs a chain. The Millennium Key ended up breaking, so I'm going to try to remake it with plaster or something. The Rod and Ring still need to dry and be painted. I like how these are turning out (well, besides the Key).

Kamushi February 5th, 2010 3:47 PM

Awwww, dude, these millenium items are the best xD
I want Bakura's one! xD U know... Necklace! xd

icycatelf February 5th, 2010 3:55 PM

Thank you. ^^

Yeah, the Millennium Ring is pretty sweet.

icycatelf February 11th, 2010 1:54 PM

Finished the Millennium Ring. =D

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/042/a/a/My_Millennium_Items_Thus_Far_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg

Kamushi February 13th, 2010 6:16 AM

Yay! You finaly did it! xD Make one for me. I love it. Of course i'm talking about Necklace. Do you use gold spray for this color or something else?

icycatelf February 13th, 2010 8:27 AM

I would make one for you... but I would need some cash in exchange. I doubt you're willing to pay what I would ask. Even if you were, it's very likely that it would break during shipping; it would be better off if you picked it up personally, another thing that I highly doubt you'd do.

Are you sure you're talking about the Necklace? You mentioned before that you wanted Bakura's, which happens to be the Millennium Ring. Though it works like a necklace, it isn't actually the Millennium Necklace. The Millennium Necklace is eye-like shape on the main right (though it lacks a chain).

Yeah, I used metallic gold spray paint on all of these.

Thanks. :)

UPDATE: Millennium Rod that my dad and I made
http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/060/b/5/Millennium_Rod_WIP_3_Final_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
My dad did most of the work (the wood work portion). I drew the template and sculpted the eye and rings. It measures about 1'03". I like it, but we're currently working on another that, imo, looks better than this one. Now only gott'a make the Millennium Scales. (Note: I've already made the Millennium Key/Ankh, but I haven't posted it here because I'm not particularly proud of it. However, you can still see it in a pic in my dA gallery.)

UPDATE: Shugo Nekaisu (Click him to view the larger version)
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb312/uhlone/uhlone-2/Nekaisu_SCF.png
If you've looked through my gallery, you've probably met Nekaisu. However, if you have not, here's some info about this lil' cutie: Inspired by Peach-Pit's anime/manga "Shugo Chara!" and inspired by my original character, Kj'kun, this is Nekaisu, one of my Guardian Characters. His name is a combination of the Japanese words for cat (neko) and ice (aisu). Unlike most Guardian Characters, Nekaisu is actually a fusion of two of my other Guardian Characters: Maneki and Shimo (look at the link for "My Updated Shugo Charas").

blackmoonflower March 4th, 2010 10:57 PM

That Millenium Rod is very impressive. :O
The neko character is cute. I like it. :3

If anyone else wants to color this, go for it.

UPDATE:

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/099/c/9/Celebi__s_Forest_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
Celebi's Forest: I got to class early (by like... 2 hours) and eventually started doodling Pokemon sketches. Typically, I cannot draw a Celebi, but I actually managed to do so this day. As soon as I got home, I scanned it and began cleaning up the lines and coloring. I thought it looked pretty nice, so I was going to make a background for it, but, instead, I asked a friend of mine if she wanted to help. She was happy to and went riding in the hills until she found a nice foresty area and snapped a picture. I then applied the Celebi pic and added some shadows, contrast, and glowy effects to make it nice together. If you want to see what the Celebi pic looked like before the background was added, click here.

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/110/6/a/Laprince_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.jpg
Laprince: An attempted Lapras evo that was originally going to be a Lapras, but I customized it a little much. I like how the drawing itself turned out, but I'm not a big fan of the concept. While Lapras really doesn't need an evo, if it had one, I think it would look way cooler than this.

UPDATE: I can’t believe I didn’t update at all through the entire month of May. D:

What happened to this Mew?: After seeing several Mew tweaks, I decided to create my own. It’s a Psychic/Dark-type Mew.

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb312/uhlone/Mijumaru.png
Mijumaru Sketch: Not only is this the first pic I've drawn of Mijumaru, but it's also the first 5th Generation Pokemon I've ever drawn. The pose isn't very original, but that's common amongst my first-time Pokemom drawings. It's just a rough sketch, but I figured I should upload it since I hadn't uploaded any real drawings in a while.

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/148/9/e/Dream_Inspired_Mishap_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
Sun Beast: I had a dream a while back. In the dream, a big orange dragonish (very serpent-like, as its body was really long) creature with the face (more like a mask) of a lion mixed with a sun and big eerie cat-like eyes had passed right through my bedroom window and slowly (VERY slowly) drifted through my house, to the living room where the next window was, then it passed through that one and left. I remember telling my mom to stay away from it because she would die if she touched it. I knew it represented an immense heat, possibly that of the sun itself. When I awoke, all I could think was "Huh, that was an interesting creature...." so I figured I should sketch it while it was fresh in my mind. It wasn't as fresh as I thought, but I got the basic idea down. However, it doesn't seem near as eerie in the sketch as it did in the dream and I'm pretty sure I had left out several features (such as the amount of whiskers). To make up for it, I put little arrows and notes all over the place saying stuff like "but even creepier" and "not a good thing." I later (not too long before before I uploaded this) decided to try to make a cleaner pic, possibly more detailed, on my computer. I only made its face but, while it does share some similarities with the beast in my dream (though very little as I still didn't capture the eeriness or even the colors), it looks more like a tropical punch mascot. :/

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/160/8/7/HeavenEarth_Starter___Xyawhon_by_Karite_Kita_Neko.png
HeavenEarth Starter, Xyawhon: I've not been drawing much lately. Over the course of the past few weeks, whenever I'd try to draw a human-like character, it wouldn't work out. I remembered today that whenever I usually can't draw human characters, I'm a bit better at drawing creatures like Fakemon. Since I had recently revived my HeavenEarth project, I figured I would try to redraw some of my Fakemon in better poses for the game. First one I decided to redraw was this thing, Xyawhon. Xyawhon (Zai uh wahn) is a Dragon/Flying starter in HeavenEarth Version. Rather than sticking with the typical starter types, I decided to use Ice/Water, Dragon/Flying, & Electric/Ground. Xyawhon is listed as the Small Drake Pokemon. Its name might be a reference to zircon, a type of crystal (notice the diamond shape on Xyawhon's head). Of course, this is not the finalized art, but is probably the most I'll do with this image. I really want to get another Sugi-style artist in the project...

On a side note, I almost have everything I need for my Yami Bakura cosplay. I have to wait for the shirt to get in so I can modify it (gets scissors ready) and I've yet to find an affordable wig, though I have found a few tips. WILL WORK FOR LONG WHITE WIGS! XD

Kj - Cell Shading attempt: Here's that colored Kj'kun I promised. I usually don't do cell shading (as I find it extremely difficult and time-consuming), but I figured I'd give it a try on this picture. I didn't use cell shading on the hair highlight or the claws, though that is pretty common in anime nowadays. I really wanted to make the claws look cooler and more icy, but I'm not that advanced as a graphic artist.

For those of you who haven't been formally introduced to Kj, let me give you a breif bio. Kj (Kahj) comes from a tribe of Neko (cat) people and was born with the power of ice. For example, he can freeze moisture in the air in order to cloak his body in an icy mirror-like down (making him invisible), hide his scent, or form icy combat tools such as a large pair of claws. Technically, he's a snow leopard. He has silvery-white hair, red eyes, and fairly pale skin. The black markings on the sides of his face are hereditary, though the design on his arm is a tattoo. He's about 19-20 years old. He dislikes loud noises. He likes fish. He dislikes romance. He likes fish.

Kj'kun actually has 2 different stories. In one, he's born into a family of royalty and raised by his sister. He's eventually called to duty and dies, but gets resurrected. In another story, he lost his family in a fire when he was young. He grows up with a human girl named Uae (created by Caitlin-Massacre) and eventually falls for her (though he was in denial about it for a long time). They eventually have 3 children: Shuu'ta (a fire-elemental halfbreed), Mj'noh (an ice-elemental halfbreed), and Xane (a light-elemental halfbreed capable of transforming into a cat).

Trent_Jayir July 23rd, 2010 11:58 AM

I like Kj's design! You did a good job with the cell shading too, i think it's interesting that you still shaded the hair softly, it makes his hair seem softer and his body seem harsher and more boldly powerful. I like it.

I also like that he likes fish. twice. <3

icycatelf July 23rd, 2010 3:41 PM

Thanks. :D

It seems to be getting more and more common that hair is shaded with gradient nowadays. Plus, it's easier for me to shade like that. lol

You're absolutely right! Though I wasn't aiming for that effect, I'm glad it worked out that way. Thanks for pointing that out! :D

I thought it would be nice the emphisize that. ;0

Yuoaman July 24th, 2010 7:28 AM

Wow that art is simply fantastic man, and there's far too much that I've missed for me to give comments on individual pieces really, but you are definitely improving. I also really love the style of those feathers you created, really original ideas there. :D

icycatelf July 24th, 2010 11:09 AM

*GLOMP*

Haha, thanks. I'm glad you think so. :D

I personally don't find the feathers very original, but whatevs. XD

I went though hell with my Simonwig and had to style it on an upturned lampshade xD; urgh!

But no really the mannequin looks very well-made (and I'm tempted to make a couple myself to keep my wigs on.... Could even paint them to look like the character...? could be interesting, so i'm hoping to see more if you work on this again!! :'D )
Good luck with it all and have fun :'D

Thanks.
You know, I didn't even think about styling my wig on anything but a head/mannequin. XD

Go for it. This one was pretty easy to make (though it took amost all day, working on it on and off, though part of that was cleaning out my desk, seeing what papers I didn't need anymore).

I would love to be able to make this one look like the character, but it would need to be smoother and in order to do that, I would probably have to paper mache it. However, it's already a little wider than desired, so if I were to do that, the wig may not fit properly. Therefore, I doubt I'll be doing much more with it, if anything at all. ):

I guess I'll post this:

And for anyone wondering, no, I did not draw the Bakura pic at the top.

Yeah, I know. I'm not very good at that kind of thing. Backgrounds are my weakness...

I dont think anybody here is qualified to give you wig pointers. Good luck none the less.

Firstly; not a bad start, you seem to have the right idea ;'>
[Long comment is wall of text. (I forget if page-strachers are frowned upon here or not so I'm playing a safe bet and spoilering it xD;) ]
Spoiler:
xD well, I don't know much about wigs, i'm no expert. But I suppose a trip to google to search for tutorials for yourself won't hurt, right?
If you want an expert opinion..
Either way, first things first;
You're probably going to have to cut it a bit.
Unless it came cut for styling, get yourself some scissors, you might need to check that they don't stress the material of the wig, all scissors blades are cut differently and some are just NOT designed for cutting a wig (paper sicissors differ to dress-making scissors and they both differ to hair-styling scissors, to be honest I found a pair of paper scissors that worked on my first wig, if you're on a budget but it's a risk. The fibre of your wig looks very different to the one I used...) Check they work on some underside hairs that won't show, (middle bottom at the back would be best) see it doesn't damage the wig fibres in anyway. (I.e splitting or stressing (curling or 'frizzing') or any change in the fibre other than length. )
When you've got your sicssors you need to pay attention to the net of the wig.
you notice the wig is made up of layers attached to individual strips of the underside netting? (i forget the proper names now) well, the more of these layers, the easier your wig will be to work with. You need to seperate your wig by these layers, use hair clips or bands to keep the bits you're not working on from getting mixed up with the bits you are working on. Basically, the more difference there is in the length of the layers, the more the 'volumous' the wig will sit. If you cut it too short, it'll look plain bad. Try not to cut so short in any places that the underside nets show through. This depends on how many layers your wig as overall, but if the length covers over two stips minimkm it should be okay, but be careful, this is just me/a guideline and if it looks like it will be wrong for your wig, DON'T DO IT. Use your own common sense :'> you are clever enough to know that already though. ^^

You need to note how long each of bakuras spikes are. How long his hair is overall in realtion to his face and work this same relation on your wig to your face. It means taking the wig on and off until you get it right! (Remember: you can always cut more off, but if you cut too much off, you're done for!!!)

Plan where the spikes are. Seperate them preferably on your head from the netting and plan how long you want them to be at most. Now all the sections are sepreated off into indiviual 'to-be-spikes' (easy enough tying it up with hairbands) You can start cutting. To make a spike you want the hair to thin out towards the end (an angled cut with the scissors should help you achive this, with help from a comb) the longest hairs will make up the point of a spike and the gradually shorter hairs will make the pointed effect up around it before the bulk of the rest of the 'hair'. Twisting the ends with spray will make it hold. Try not to go overboard with spray. or the twisting xD; Enough to hold it place but you don't want it to look stupid, so try to go with the wig and let the style happen naturally.
(for my Simon wig I ended up not using any spray because his hair is quite flat and I could cut the wig into the style I wanted, ofc this is different for Bakura xD ...) The fringe, for example, can be done by layering the hair thickly and cutting the bottom spikes fairly unevenly, (the more uneven it is=more possible spikes, more possible spikes=more volume in the hair, too much is bad, so don't go overboard!) minimum hairspray required, just so much so a nasty breeze or run-in with air-con wouldn't mess it up. But maybe not so much so the wind can play about with it a little. Don't let the wig be stiff and lifeless it'll look horrible and really, really fake!! I'd also say, for the rest of the wig, spray on from the spike tip upwards, with less towards where your head will be, so the wig isn't overdone (especially those lower spikes, especially round the back of his head he has, you can probably do MOST of this with some clever spike-tip cutting, but not all ;'> his hair is pretty insane. Oh Yu-Gi-OH, your hair is so crazy!)
If it helps, look at other cosplayers for ideas! They've been teher and done it! look for the ones who did it badly and DON'T do what they did, look at the ones who look awesome and DO what they did! Easy enough :'>

Finally, work from the bottom of the wig upwards. Get the bottom length right and work up in layers. Then put the wig back on and see how it looks.
Re-Seperate the spikes and re-define the cutting if you have to! Put that wig on as often as you can without ruing the styling you just did and plan, plan, plan while its on so you know EXACTLY what to do when you take it off.
If the wig doesn't wanna go that way, don't force it, work with it, not against it, and you should be fine!

I hope this all helps, good luck and remember, cosplaying is for fun, so enjoy yourself!

... *reaches it to you*

lol Thanks. This guide seems pretty helpful, so I'll see what I can do. I'd rather cutting be a last resort, as I'm low on cash and the wig was not cheap. I've looked around, but have only managed to find one person who used the same type of wig as a base, but I wasn't exceptionally fond of how they made the "wings" (they didn't even look like them, similarly to how I have the pic up there). I've seen at least 2 other wigs that were good, imo, but they used different methods (such as sewing together multiple witch/wizards wigs). It would be so much easier if I could just sculpt the wig, but none of my styling supplies are allowing me to do that and gravity is working against me. Almost everything I had spiked up there has fallen back into the original position...
