gts question

ok guys, got a question about this.

when i got pearl i was like "sweet, and easy way to trade pokemon over the net" NO ITS NOT

why is it that ever time i go to trade or seek pokemon they always want to trade stupid pokemon for legends or rare pokemon. for example. i was looking under magikarp (sorry for the spelling of pokemon names, i really dont care and you get the picture), and you can find one with a OLD ROD ANNNYYWHERE. so the ones in the gts are all lvl 3,4,7 and people want PALKEA AND MEWTWO, ETC WTF!!!

my point is, why is it that most trainers think its a good idea to trade stupid pokemon for rares or legends? i just dont understand this. the pictures in my head are some little kid thinking its a good idea to trade a weedle for darkrai and all i want is a weedle and it just makes me want to kick this kid in the head.

anyone got a answer or should i go on a kid kick spree of death?

I think every one does this, some may be cloning and that's why they want an out-ragious trade, like a lv3 bidoof for any lv palkia or diagla or any legend really, you would be better off looking for those pokes on your own instead of looking in the gts.

Most of them are either

A. Cloning, and requesting crazy things.
B. Trying to get a Pokemon of another language, believe it or not, people like the Japanese are crazy for Different Language Pokemon.

Yeah it's all over the place and it gets annoying, but if you can put up with it you do every now and then find awesome trades. I think the GTS is awesome. For example, it's pretty easy to get all 3 starters, by simply trading any pokemon that evolves (Kadabra, Haunter, Graveller, Machoke, etc.) and you can get the other two starter pokemon you didn't choose. Then you can breed them and get even better things for them. I took a Chimchar that I got, stuck an EXP Share on it and went through the Elite Four to get it to Infernape, then traded it for Dialga (when I had Palkia). Now I breed Feebas and trade them off for almost anything I want.

those and for another reason,
noramlly those opkes are attached with valuable items which others want, that way people ask for legends.

Straight from the stickied Diamond/Pearl FAQ:

Why is someone offering a Level 100 ____ for a simple pokemon like Bidoof?
There are many reasons it may be.
A.) This person may be from say Japan, and just wants an English/German/etc. named pokemon.
B.) The pokemon may be hacked, and they just want to add more trainer numbers to their game, or want to get rid of it.

Why is someone requesting a Level 100 _____ for a simple pokemon like Bidoof?
Again, The same applies in this scenario, many reasons.
A.) Language again can make an impact, some Japanese/English players are very desperate to get another languaged pokemon.
B.) The person may have seen the pokemon in a temporary trade with a friend, or traded away the pokemon to another person for a different pokemon, or can simply just want another one of them.
C.) Check what the pokemon is holding, it may be a Bidoof that is holding something like a Master Ball, which most people would trade a level 100 for.

I read that and I disagree with the hacked pokemon explanation, though it could just be me. From MY experience, a pokemon obtained through AR cannot be traded in the GTS. It locks up if you try to trade it to someone in there, and if you put it up as an offer no one ever is able to trade for it. I know this because I offered a level 1 Mew for a freakin Bidoof and it never happened.

I also thought the same thing. Its pretty fustrating when all you want is a female cranidos, and they want a friggin' mew for it. -gets angry--throws ds-

YOOM-TAH July 8th, 2008 8:38 AM

Haha yeah I get mad at it, but I never give up on the GTS. Just last night I found a level 52 Palkia, with its Lustrous Orb, asking for any Gible. Needless to say I pounced on it.
