Why is Giratina... Giratina?
Because the word...
Platina is Platinum in Japanese... _____________________ Platina Giratina Giratina because it has platinum plating on it! |
Oh wow, someone who actually has thought of this, too!
Incidentally, I do call it Giratinum [or Gelatina, a brazilian food :B], because I'm still pissed at PUSA calling him Giratina. |
nope
its just like pokemon Emerald The two pokemon that created.... KYOGR =DIALGA GROUDON =PALKIA The trio REGISTEEL =MESPIRT REGIROCK =UXIE REGICE =AZELF The pokemon that stoped the.... RAQUAZA =GIRATINIA |

It seem's most likely |
We aren't talking about versions. A Giratina version was something almost certain to come.
If you want to use a little more logic, let's see; Diaruga ~ Diamondo [Diamond in japanese] Parukia ~ Paaru [Pearl in japanese] Then tell me, why would they end Giratina's name with 'tina' if it wasn't a reference to 'Platina'? |
I did see that to so why would the USA rename it Pokemon Platinum? That's what we all ask i hope in Europe or Australia they come to they're senses and keep it Platina that's what they did with Another Code or as the US call it Trace memories to explain it in a different way:
Japan: Another Code: Futatsu no Kioku Australia: Another Code: Two Memories Europe: Anotehr Code: Two Memories USA: Trace Memories which would refer to the same in Pokemon: Japan: Pocket Monsters Platina Australia: Pokemon Platina Europe: Pokemon Platina USA: Pokemon Platinum Most Americans wouldn't agree but I do. But hopefully because Nintendo hasn't released any proof of Pokemon Platinums true name I think it will be changed to Platina but I doubt it will be anything like I have stated above. Note: I'm not sure if Nintendo Has Or Hasn't |
Because Platina is the japanese word for Platinum.
That'd be like calling the European version of Another Code: Two Memories by Another Code: Futatsu no Kioku. |
It's more likely that Europe and Australia will call it Pokemon Platinum. o.o'
|
Lol your right I'm just trying to say any country other than japan should do an entire reprint and rename it Platina lol
|
Wait, wasn't this known a while ago? Why is it suddenly being 'revealed' why Platinum is called Platinum?

This was widely known informtaion, in fact I'm pretty sure it was posted early on in the Platinum discussion thread. And as a poster said, which I thought was fairly obvious, Platina is the Japanese word for Platinum. So that's why it's being called Platinum outside of Japan.
