What does this symbol mean on my togepi?

does this mean the pokemon is "shiny?" because a bunch of yellow stars flash across the togepi before a start of a battle, then the cry.

Minto July 12th, 2008 9:24 PM

Yep, that's a shiny Togepi. Nice.

Shiori-Hikaru July 12th, 2008 9:28 PM

Yea, it's shiny.
Lucky. ;D

Luck July 12th, 2008 9:32 PM

Yeah, its shiny.
another clue to its shiny..ness is that its marks are blue instead of red.
it just looks like a badly drawn shiny star.
it should be on the red gyarados when you get it.
i'm envious of that.

i feel quite lucky! hopefully it is on the red gyrados, any other pokemon i could expect shiny?

WeissRaben July 12th, 2008 11:58 PM

Everyone. Red Gyarados is the only one that you will absolutely find, the others can be found shiny, but with a one-in-somethinglike 64000 chance. Very, very lucky indeed. ;)

Don't Togepis bring good luck to the owner? Or were the chansey the one doing that?

jirachistar July 13th, 2008 1:16 PM

Man, you're LUCKY to have hatched a shiny Togepi. That's awesome!

Zero Avenged July 13th, 2008 1:35 PM

Togepi will share the feeling of happiness to the owner and give the owner good luck if well-treated, while Chansey is said to bring happiness when caught.

So congratulation!! Wish you treat this shiny Togepi well and bring more good luck to you! (^_^)

jakeizbeast July 14th, 2008 11:46 AM

thats weird but cool! I dont know if it means anything!

Luck July 14th, 2008 12:04 PM

Well, shinies are really hard to find, 1/8192 i think.
shinies were, also, for some reason, easier to get if you breeded a shiny.
say you breeded a red gyarados. the chances of having a yellow magikarp(or whatever its shiny colour is) hatch from the egg would be 1/64. So there may be a chance that the pokemon that made the togepi egg was a shiny.Unfortunately, after that they made the odds the same after 2nd gen.

yes.
in ruby, the dex number (top left) is yellow instead of white.
and in d/p, there is a * on the top right of the status screen.
but if you are talking about the *** when a shiny enters battle, then yes, it was always like that.

Saltare. July 15th, 2008 11:51 AM

yep, shiny alright i have 2 shiny togepi

Dukey July 17th, 2008 2:23 PM

I'm jealous my only shiny on Silver was a pathetic spearow which I wouldn't have been able to tell was shiny had the stars not flashed around it

SwampertTrainer July 17th, 2008 4:36 PM

Unfortunately, when I found a Shiny, it just had to be a Golbat. Such a lame Pokemon, and a horrible color, too- dark green and pink???

I should say my brother is lucky then... He has a shiny Shellder, shiny Cleffa, shiny Jigglypuff, shiny Pichu and shiny Jynx, also other shiny in GBA series... Too bad he doesn't play Pokemon anymore...

Gummy July 17th, 2008 6:15 PM

To tell you the truth, it's not as lucky as you think. The Odd Egg you get from the Day Care has 50% chance of being Shiny.

Zowayix July 18th, 2008 3:36 AM

I thought the Odd Egg only hatched into pokemon that were pre-evolutions of RBY pkmn, so it can't hatch into togepi.

And by the way, in GSC only, if you breed 2 shiny pkmn, the egg has a 1/64 chance of being shiny, if you breed a shiny with a non-shiny, the chance is 1/256. If both parents are non-shiny, the chance is the normal 1/8192.
