I was hoping for another jellyfish type of water-type. Tentacool/Tentacruel's nasty.

Twisted Cuteness June 24th, 2010 9:38 AM

D: Tentacruel is cool! Too bad I can't get the giant one like in the anime

Mantine would make more sense with Fly then Gyarados. I don't know why they made Gyarados Water/Flying, except to probably be cannon fodder to Electric-types...

Platina Berlitz June 26th, 2010 1:16 PM

imagine flying on a huge gyarados. I'm sure that would get some weird looks

Sweet Candace June 26th, 2010 1:29 PM

I don't know where they get Flying for Gyarados. It's maybe based off a sea monster, which didn't fly.

Witch June 29th, 2010 8:40 PM

I think gyarados was based on leviathan

That still makes no sense why they made Gyarados Water/Flying.

Haven't really been active in this club since I joined D:

Maybe it can fly like Dragonite.
That confuses me too.

Sweet Candace July 1st, 2010 4:33 PM

If they made it just plain Water, or even Water/Dragon, it'd make more sense. (But in Gen I, it'd be almost a pseudo-legendary in that regard, since Dragon-types were so powerful in R/B/Y.)

I agree. Making it a Dragon type would be better. Maybe it could have been comparable to Dragonite then.

Sweet Candace July 2nd, 2010 7:41 AM

Dragonite was one of the most powerful Pokemon (excluding legendaries) in R/B/Y. If Gyarados was Water/Dragon, it would probably have been more powerful than Dragonite, since it would've be only weak to Dragon type attacks.

Halcyon July 4th, 2010 4:42 PM

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Please don't destroy another Water/Dragon typing that the one-and-only Kingdra should have, like Palkia did. T_T

Spinosaurus July 4th, 2010 5:06 PM

^ This
I think Kingdra's the only one who should be Dragon/Water. :/ I don't really like the typing anyways.

I think Gyarados is part flying because of it's big fins. And Gyarados has been seen flying in the anime. Either keep it as Water/Flying or just Water, not Water/Dragon.

♣Gawain♣ July 4th, 2010 10:30 PM

^ you mean "flying" in the water. I can't fly with it's bulky body mass.

And if it were a D/W, we could not fry the shrimp with electric attacks eh?

Twisted Cuteness July 5th, 2010 4:54 AM

say whaaaaa? Whats wrong with Plakia?

This means that Gyarados can fly, but only in the anime.

And we all know how reliable the anime is. [/sarcasm]

CakeForTheSoul July 11th, 2010 1:39 AM

Gyrados is there to be a Dragon pokemon. Just like Charizard.

Charizard★ July 11th, 2010 1:10 PM

I think that Gyarados is fine being a Water/Flying type. Water/Dragon would be nice though :3

Besides the fact it's pretty fugly? :O

Spinosaurus July 12th, 2010 5:05 AM

^ Plateosaurus is not fugly. >:/
I think Palkia's fine, I like it's design and all. But I prefer Dialga. Giratina's the one I dislike.

...I thought it was well-known that Gyarados was based on the Chinese myth about a carp that flew over...I believe it was a waterfall, and turned into a flying serpent...

I remember in Pokemon Snap that's how you got a picture of Gyarados in the second to last area. Except it doesn't fly over the waterfall, it jumps into it...

Witch July 13th, 2010 8:05 AM

I like palkia. It's better looking than manaphy & that other one :x
