How is this for a team?

I just beat the 7th gym with these pokemon, I've had them from the begining of the game as eggs, all have been raised from level 1 no rare candies

1.) Lv. 49 Torterra/Naive
Energy Ball
Crunch
Earthquake
Synthesis
2.) Lv. 46 Lucario/Relaxed
Stone Edge
Aura Sphere
Dark Pulse
Swords Dance
3.) Lv. 47 Espeon/Modest
Swift
Shadow Ball
Future Sight
Psychic
4.) Lv. 46 Empoleon/Modest
Surf
Ice Beam
Brine
Mist
5.)Lv. 47 Infernape/Modest
Close Combat
Flame Wheel
Fire Blast
Torment
6.) Lv 46 Gabite/Adament
Flamethrower
Aerial Ace
Dragon Pulse
Dig

How's that? If there's anything you think I should do please tell me, I'm not that great with Pokemon lol.

AJ™ July 17th, 2008 10:13 AM

This really should go in Strategies and Movesets.

Relaxed on Lucario and Naive on Torterra? Eww...

But anyway, this is ingame (or at least I hope it is) so you could get a Magikarp with this:

Magikarp @ Leftovers
Impish
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD
Flail
Splash
Tackle

And kick some serious ass ingame.

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 10:19 AM

I diddnt see that ill post it there sorry...im new =]

You don't have to apologize to anyone, just look around before you post next time :D

Don't post it in S&M, it'll get eaten alive. It isn't even fully trained with EV's and has no walls that are reliable

Oh yes! Cynthia will be shaking in her pitch black boots!!!

This team is e-mazing...for ingame.

The Lucario has Swords Dance and only one Physical Attack. And he doesn't have STAB with Stone Edge either. So to help you need a Physical Fighting or Steel Move so it gets the Attack boost and STAB.

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 10:25 AM

to late =\ uh oh, and not to mention I have no idea what half of that means...

supersmashbro93 July 17th, 2008 10:28 AM

i only had one pokemon left when i reached cynthia and believe it or not but i only used a luxray kept using charge to raise spdef and then hit shock wave to insure the hit

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus

Means: If the attack is the same type as the Pokemon it is stronger.

Physical = Direct Impact kinda. Like a punch or kick. You can check out which moves are Physical or Special by either looking on the game or going to Marriland or Seribii.

. July 17th, 2008 10:32 AM

Listen to GS, it's obvious you do not know a lot of the common terms about competative battling. STAB attacks can sometimes be stronger than other types. For example, a STAB Close Combat from Lucario will be stronger than a Close Combat from Pinsir, even though Pinsir has a higher attack stat.

Most likely, you didn't EV train them. So scrap them. Breed for good IV's (which I know little to nothing about) And when you train them, get GOOD EV spreads. There are guides about these sort of things in S&M

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 10:34 AM

Ok I have that Tm, It also just Leveled up and learned Dragon Pulse I havnt delted anything yet should I?

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 10:38 AM

Well, I'm just going to beat the game with these guys then do that...I'm sure if I just put a few more levels on them I can beat the Elite 4...right? Then I'll Ev them or whatever lol.

Also..is it true that using Rare Candies makes then weaker in the end, I heard that rumor way back in blue/red days...and I never used them again. If it's not true my brother has a action replay so I'll just use that thing on the guys I'm gunna get after I beat that game.

Don't bother. Just because a Pokemon is EV trained doesn't mean it will actually do well in competitive battles. Just use this team to beat the game, then learn more about competitive battling later (if you actually want to get into that).

Common misconception. You know what EVs are, right? You know that, when fighting Pokemon normally, a Pokemon gains EVs that increase its stats, right? Well, when using Rare Candies, a Pokemon doesn't gain EVs. So, a Pokemon that was raised to level 100 through raw battling will have more EVs than a Pokemon raised from 1 to 100 via candies- and therefore, be stronger.

Of course, Candying an EV trained Pokemon will have the same results as battling to get an EV trained Pokemon to 100. Since they both already have the EVs, it doesn't matter how they get to level 100.

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 11:06 AM

Actually I would like to do the whole compettitive batteling thing it sounds fun, and no...i have no idea what EV's are...but from what you were saying it's possible to breed a pokemon with full EV's so I can just rare candy it to 100?

airconditioning July 17th, 2008 11:14 AM

I really don't feel like spending half an hour explaining things, so just read the Compiled Guides. It should contain everything you need to know.

jmacz008 July 17th, 2008 11:22 AM

Thank you man...I also posted a thread about what I need for help in the strategies and movesets thread. I'll check out the link you sent me. thanks again

LethalTexture July 17th, 2008 11:30 AM

Since you already posted in S&M, I'll lock this. Be sure to read the stickies in that forum for detailed guides on what competitive Pokemon is all about.
