I am afraid this is in the wrong section. Anyway there are LOT of threads here regarding this issue. Look in the FAQ , Serebii, Youtube. It is complicated to explain. Please post in the Offcial Shiny Thread...thats where it is suppose to go right?

Im not much of a shiny hunter, however, from cyber surfing, and just friends, and from my own experience. I have a few handy tips-

1. (something Ive tested out) Make a grid on paper of the grass you're on. Make sure its a large patch of grass (maybe the one next to the valley windworks. It works really well.) Then get a small peice of paper (that could fit in one square) and put it on the square on the grid where you last were. This is importaint because any shaking grass less then 4 away, even is the shacking grass pattern is the same, it will NOT be the same species of pokemon.

2. Each pokemon (from what I've heard) has its own style of shaking the grass or whatever when you use the pokeradar. For example-

Shaking grass= Not rare pokemon
Shaking grass+a little sparkly= Not common pokemon, sometimes a not rare pokemon
Shaking grass+REALLY SPARKLY= Pretty rare pokemon, or a decently rare pokemon
Sparkly grass (dosent shake, happens REALLY quickly)= Most likely a shiny pokemon.

3. Remember, shinies are extremly rare, and in some cases, you wont have to chain at all!

4.Be paitent if you want one. take feqrent breaks if you like. JustDONT TURN YOUR DS OFF!! Or else your chain will be broken, (im pretty sure.)

5. The chain stop at 40. Thats the higest you can go on a chain (precentage wise, like higest rare you will get that species of a shiny.) , well you an go higher on the chain, but when you get to 80, it will be the same senerio, and so on and so forth.

If you need any more tips, or if you have a question, please feel free to pm me or ask the qustion on the thread. ^^.

Nither do I really. Alot of my friends hunt for shinies ^^, thats where most of the info (besides the first one) comes from.

you could also go to some legendary (if you still have your master ball), save, and then keep on trying to get a shiny legendary

or just work on your pokedex for a while
the more you see the better

sorry im new i get confused

Andyb4325 July 25th, 2008 9:29 AM

heres a easier way get a action replay for ds and then get the cheat for shiny pokemon and there u go u can get all the shiny pokemon u want

True Justice July 25th, 2008 9:55 AM

There are 4 non hacking ways to obtain a shiny
1. Wild Pokemon
2. Soft Reset
3. Egg
4. Pokeradar

To make it short and simple:

Before chaining, there are several things you must do before hand:
Buy 200 Max Repels, or Super if you want to save money.
Go to a large area of grass

When you begin your chain, you must absolutely make sure there are 4 patches. 3 or less has the possibility of breaking your chain.

Once there are 4 patches, pick the patch farthest away that resembles your first patch of the pokemon you are chaining. If the farthest patch does not resemble your first patch, it will most likely break your chain.

If there are 4 patches and the farthest one does resemble your first patch, it must be at least two spaces away from the edge of your chaining area. If it is close to the edge, it could break your chain. I've broken my chain with an edge patch and the pokemon was the pokemon I was already chaining.

Repeat each step until you get it up to 40. Then just reset the radar over and over until you see a shiny patch. You should be able to recognize a shiny patch.

As an additional note, You can also find shinies in a normal patch, but the chances are 1/8192.

Andyb4325 July 25th, 2008 9:59 AM

ok whats a chain idk what u r talking about when u say that?

True Justice July 25th, 2008 10:02 AM

Chaining is a method in using the Pokeradar to encounter the same Pokemon over and over. Once a chain is high enough, a Shiny Pokemon can be encountered.

Andyb4325 July 25th, 2008 10:36 AM

that still doesnt help how do u do it i no how to work the pokeradar but idk how chainging works

True Justice July 25th, 2008 11:14 AM

Use Poketch App 20. Then encounter any Pokemon using the Pokeradar. Whenyou defeat it, you'll see the Pokemon with a number one next to it on the Poketch. Without getting rid of that 1, Encounter and Defeat another Pokemon of the same species. Now it should show the Pokemon with a 2 next to it on the Poketch. This means your chain is at two. There really is no other way to explain it unless anyone else wants to give it a shot.

Andyb4325 July 25th, 2008 11:24 AM

that kinda helps but how do u no ur going to find the same pokemon more than once

Follow these rules to help highly increase the chance of seeing the same Pokemon more than once. But there is still the possibility of a Pokemon being different even by following these rules, but it is much lower than not following them.
