Battery died...
So guys, I recently decided to play my Gold Version again after like 6 years and when I turned it on, to my horror the save data was gone. I think this is from a flat battery as I have heard of similar problems..
But my question is, will I be able to play it and save just fine or will I need a new battery to be able to save? Or is this even a flat battery problem? Thanks guys! |
You'll need a new battery. Soldering is involved, by the way.
Since PokeCommunity doesn't allow members to post links to other forums, click here, then on the image of a circuit board with a button cell on it — and there ye have a walkthrough. |
Thanks!
So will I be required to replace the battery if I want to save? |

Okai, thanks everyone!
If I have any problems I will report back here. |
I have a similar problem. I found my Gameboy along with my old Pokemon Silver and Yellow a couple of months ago, so I decided to play them again. When I first turned on my Silver version, there was no saved game avaliable, which I thought was weird. I played it for a while anyway and saved it. But when I turned it on the next day there was still no saved game.
So now I just play my Yellow version, but it's getting old fast. I just read the thread properly. I'm certain that this is what has happened to my Silver version. |
I hated the non-signal of low battery. I'd battle in Cinawood and it would just turn off.

My Gold and Crystal games are, amazingly, still saving for me.
I once had a copy of the Red version, though, that died. It may have been because of the internal battery running dry, but it also might have been corrupted by a bad connection to Pokemon Stadium for the N64. While I was playing PS, an error message came up on the screen. I followed the instructions of the error message, but it didn't fix the error. When I tried playing the Red version again, my save file was gone. What's more, I tried starting a new file and saving, and it wouldn't hold the save file. It may have been that the game's internal battery had died, but the fact that it suddenly happened after a connection error with Pokemon Stadium may indicate that it was corrupted instead. I ended up just buying another copy of the Red version. |
