That's not advice, thats just a random statement. You should tell him why it benefits his team and what it should go over. Plus it's arguably not, since Stealth rock says OLOL and leaves it KOable by priority attacks.

But yeah, you have no special sweeper and 3 physical ones. You need to do a switch either toxicroak or hitmonlee for a decent special sweeper. Likewise you have two speial walls and no physical- Just a marginally bulky spinner. I'd get rid of Lanturn for a physical wall.

Archer August 26th, 2008 3:38 AM

Ok. The layout is nice.
  • Toxicroak - Fine, but I feel you would be better with a fighting attack over Poison Jab. It offers better coverage, especially with Sucker Punch.
  • Hitmonlee - Could do with Bulk Up over Blaze Kick. Fighting & Ground cover the same steels.
  • I'm sure you would be better with a Physical wall over Hypno/Lanturn. Not like Lanturn's covering any electric weak. Which you already have an immunity to. Maybe just Quagsire will do.
Could be more, but I'm busy... Good team though.

dark_seeker August 26th, 2008 3:55 AM

sry about that i just love scyther
give hypno psychic it gets stab
change either hitmonlee or toxicrock
for a special sweeper not sure which

I'll probably switch out Toxicroak and Lanturn.
Whats a decent UU Special Sweeper?

You could go with a Toxicroak Nasty Plot set.
I'm not going to just give you one. Try and be creative.

How about Jynx, give it HP Electric/Fire.

Jynx @ Leftovers
Forewarn Ability/Timid Nature
4HP/252SP.ATK/252SPD
Ice Beam
Lovely Kiss
Calm Mind
Substitute/HP Fire/HP Electric

sims796 August 26th, 2008 4:37 PM

Try & be creative? What is this crap? THIS IS MADNESS!!!!

Either give him the set - thereby actually helping him- or don't mention it at all.

[email protected] Orb
Nature:Modest
Nasty Plot
Vacuum Wave
Shadow Ball / Hidden Power Ice
Sludge Bomb
EV:252 Sp.Atk, 252 Spe, 6 HP

There we go. Use it if you want. Sorry, I can't help with Blissey.

EDIT:I mean help with Jynx. Don't know why I said Jynx.

EDIT 2:The hell! Now Imeant Blissey! I'm leaving.

Archer August 26th, 2008 9:48 PM

Another option for Jynx is Psychic / HP Bug. It covers the bulky psychics in UU and gives you a stab move. Psychic and Bug has pretty good coverage.

Aerodactyl really hurts you.

.emerald August 26th, 2008 9:59 PM

Great field layout!
About The Toxicroak, I'd rather choose hasty nature than Modest, the SludgeBomb doesn't kick in...But if you want him in the first place to be a Special Sweeper,go ahead.

Now Jynx.Hmm...If your gonna put Lovely Kiss,Definitely put Dream Eater.Better than Hypnosis in my book.

I think your making Lanturn a Physical wall.As El Gofre said.Get rid of it.

Sleep support is there for a Chance to set up Calm Mind. Dream Eater is pathetic.

I say swap Lanturn for Quagsire, still. It helps deal with Aero to an extent.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/96 Atk/160 Def
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge
~ Toxic
~ Protect

Ársa August 26th, 2008 10:33 PM

Claydol isn't the best UU spinner. Period. Sandslash is the best UU spinner. Period. =P

Yeah, you have a rather bad Aerodactyl weak. Cruch/Earthquake/Aerial Ace/Rock Slide is common in UU (well I use it), and you're in trouble, as nothing can revenge kill it either. Maybe slapping a Choice Scarf on Hitmonlee would be handy in revenge killing, but IMO this team needs Weezing support, for all the Fighting physical sweepers in UU also.

Well, I just read Archer's post. Quagisire is decent over Lanturn, 4HKO'd most likely. Because of that I think Surf or Ice Beam should be considered over Stone Edge. Surf mainly as it also helps you get around Sandslash and the like. As much as you like Claydol, I think it's usefulness as a spinner should be coupled with at least 1 of the screens. If you arent' using one, then why not run Sandslash? Has better defensive capabilities and is neutral to all of Aero's hits.

I'm not sure if sandslash is, but Claydol
is immune to spikes and toxic spikes.
Thus, good spinna.

Ársa August 27th, 2008 1:34 PM

Needs moar of my Bibarel set IMO.

[email protected] Berry
Adamant
52 HP, 252 Atk, 204 Spe
Simple

Substitute
Defense Curl
Rollout
Waterfall/Quick Attack

Defense Curl increases Rollout's power, and with +2 attack and +2 defense, Bibarel will be a force. Your subs are harder to break. Waterfall is STAB while Quick Attack also gains STAB, making it a Base 60 priotirty move, great for cleaning up with that +2 Atk mid-end game.

Z o M B ii 3 August 28th, 2008 10:14 AM

I Perfer Super Bibarel.

Bibarel @Leftovers
Bold or Calm Nature/Simple
EVs:252HP/128DEF/128/SP.DEF
Surf
Charge Beam
Amnesia
Defence Curl

Amnesia/Defence Curl for +4/+2 boosts.
Charge Beam for +2SP.ATK
Surf for STAB.

. August 28th, 2008 10:18 AM

I like this team, I really do. I can't find a glaring weakness, though Aerodactyl is no friend. Quagsire can sort of handle CB-less ones, but CBers could pose an uncomfortable problem. It's no big deal, but just watch out for late game when he comes out, and you're down Quagsire or Bibarel. Claydol does not like boosted Crunches, but can handle him to an extent.

Overall, very good team. Consider Reflect over Protect on Hypno, and use Seismic Toss. Little nitpicks, nothing else.

Z o M B ii 3 August 28th, 2008 10:30 AM

Thank you, sirrr.
I want Protect on Hypno to make sure,
I get the wish boost.

Bibarel @Leftovers
Bold or Calm Nature/Simple
EVs:252HP/128DEF/128/SP.DEF
Surf
Charge Beam
Amnesia
Defence Curl

Amnesia/Defence Curl for +4/+2 boosts.
Charge Beam for +2SP.ATK
Surf for STAB.

And Lanturn for 100% counter...

What does that mean?
(Useless Text Here)

sims796 August 29th, 2008 8:56 AM

It means, with that set, you can do ABSOLUTELY NOOOOOOTHING To Lanturn.

Caps for max effect.

. August 29th, 2008 9:10 AM

I don't see why there's all the Claydol hate. Sure, as a Pokemon, Claydol is less than spectacular, but as a Rapid Spinner, it's marvelous. It's IMMUNE to all forms of Spikes (Toxic included) It RESISTS Stealth Rock, and cannot be paralysed. When it' all done, it simply blows up in your face opening up a revenge kill for something else/

I'd keep Claydol, sure it's plethora of weaknesses let it down, but TTar and Celebi have a lot of weaks, and they're both excellent Pokes.

Z o M B ii 3 August 29th, 2008 9:26 AM

Thanks, so now I need a pokemon for lanturn. (?)

. August 29th, 2008 9:27 AM

Unless they carry HP Grass, Quagsire murders it. Ice Beam is just barely a 3HKO. Quagsire is immune to both STABs as well (his primary one being absorber and used as a recovery)

Ok, so I'm keeping Quagsire.
Still not positive on Jynx.

. August 29th, 2008 9:50 AM

I doubt Jynx would make a good lead. Too many Fake Outers. Lead with Rapidash, since Jynx is a BEAST at late game sweeps.
