Ahh... the good old days....

I noticed there was not a thread like this in this forum (Not PC, the metal/color gen forum of PC.).

So, I'm creating one.
Anyways, I remember having gold as my very first pokemon game...
It was a lot of fun. Probably my favorite ever.

I can still remember when I beat the E4 just using Feraligator.

So, my question to you is:
Have you ever had such a wonderful memory while playing the older games when you were younger?

(Dusty<3) August 31st, 2008 2:29 PM

Most definitely! I remember beating red, the E4 and everyone else with a Lv.84 Chikorita! I miss those games. Gold was my first too and it's internal batt. died. :[ So now I'm stuck playing the dumb Pearl games. Too many competitive battling obsessors playing now!
I miss my Chikorita :'[

.Seth August 31st, 2008 2:59 PM

Yeah, I miss my Feraligatr.
Fortunately, I bought a new Gold. So, I might just get to relive those days.
Although, if you want to relive Gold/Silver, there's always zel's ShinyGold!.
If only those Gold/Silver Cartridges still lived...

I remember the time I epically restarted my Pokemon Red to get strength early and move the truck to get Mew, which never worked. I saw the truck, but I never got the Mew..

I remember having acquired all 151 Pokemon and then when doing some glitch losing my entire save and just collapsing in misery and vomit.

That sounds... gruesome.

There's always the Mew Trick. :D

Gold was definitely my favorite, and I was quite sad when the cartridge ended up breaking. The only one I've ever completed a Pokedex in is Red. My last Poke was a Flareon from a friend.

.Seth September 1st, 2008 8:51 AM

I don't think I've ever completed a pokedex, so, Bravo! :D

I don't like it either when a cartridge breaks/refuses to works.
Anyways, I just remembered something else!
I was playing Gold and I was in the 8th gym.
Anyways, I pushed a rock down of of the holes, and when I saw it in the magma, I was afraid to cross over it! (If you've ever played Mario 64/Galaxy, and you know what happens when you try to step in lava? That's what made me scared of crossing the rock! :D

DialgaDiamond September 1st, 2008 8:59 AM

Yes, of course I did!
Although I loved Crystal the best. I beat the whole thing.

.Seth September 1st, 2008 9:10 AM

I still have my original Crystal. Although, I didn't like it as much as G/S.
But, I guess since I'm not really the battling type (more of the explorer type.), I don't really care about the Battle Tower.
Being able to be a girl was ok. (Since I'm a boy, it doesn't really affect me that much.)
Overall, I thought Crystal was Pretty good, although, I wanted to see more changes. (maybe a new gym leader, and More to do in Kanto! :P)

:mewmeister September 2nd, 2008 9:43 AM

I loved just going to surf to the mew truck It was a must do in red blue and yellow
My favourite was the missigno in red and blue but my friend always got over level 100s

.Seth September 2nd, 2008 6:00 PM

Haha! I Love the Missingno. Glitch! I guess the old 'M' still lives... O.O

Anyways, I bought a Red off of eBay a while ago, still love it! :D
I can't wait to do all the Glitches! So much fun!
The Glitches is the reason I bought the game!
Anyways, have any of you ever heard of "Pikablu"?

austin00081 September 2nd, 2008 7:42 PM

I remember using mystery gift function through the little sensor things on the GBC.

Also, when blue/red first came out and my sister went to get it. We thought Marowak was the main villain.

Harry Blue5 September 3rd, 2008 11:08 AM

My friend who plays Silver doesn't know about the internal battery... Every day I come to these forums I say, "I better tell him"... and then I forget. Lol.

BassFace September 3rd, 2008 11:43 AM

I was just recently playing Pokemon Crystal. I've owned my copy since 2001 and, amazingly, it still saves my game. My copy of Gold is even older, and it still saves as well (as far as I know - I lent it to someone a few weeks ago). That game brings back so many memories. I love playing in good old school Johto.

Not to say I'm not having battery troubles, though. At the moment, I seem to have misplaced the charger for my GBA SP, preventing me from charging the system and playing my games. Groan...

Evee_ September 7th, 2008 10:09 AM

i used to spend all my time when i was younger playing pokemon yellow and blue :P

Was pretty epic tbh.

Hah, good times.

Dusclord September 8th, 2008 8:13 AM

I still have all the GBC versions, but I recently got a US version of pokémon crystal so I'm playing whit a little bit different game even if the events are exactly the same (duh it rymes '-'). Anyway I still play with my french (so my first) GBC games.

.inLOVE September 8th, 2008 2:16 PM

Oh yes. i remember being 16 and getting green. My japanese teacher gave it to me to practice. She and I screamed when I caught MewTwo.

Izy September 8th, 2008 2:46 PM

Ah yes. Crystal version. I remember playing my cousin's gold version and wondering why there wasn't a Battle Tower xD

Tac One September 8th, 2008 4:08 PM

I remember getting BLUE when it first came out, I was 18. I had to replace it after dropping my GB Pocket and making the battery come loose. I still have my replacement game and a RED game, Gold and Sliver(had to replace the battery in both though).

varial295 September 8th, 2008 5:44 PM

yeza! I REMEMBER MY YELLOW IT WAS SICK I COMPLETED IT IT LIKE NOTHING AND I CAUGHT MEW AND MEWTWO

SamuraiMaster September 9th, 2008 5:27 AM

Lol the first Pokemon Game I owned was the Yellow Version

I beat the elite with pretty much only Pikachu (lvl100)
I used Mewtwo only against Ground types.

I was obsessed with Pikachu back then

NOw I have FireRed, my Yellow Version broke somehow :(

I use a whole team rather than just a super powered pokemon.

Blastoise (85)
Charizard (84)
Venasaur (85)
Alakazam (85)
Tyranitar (84)
Raichu (85)

Archeopterix September 9th, 2008 9:12 AM

I remember when Red came out and everyone had it, I had all level 28 pokemon, and I battled this guy who had exploited the rare-candy cheat. That was before I knew about it. Needless to say, his level 100 Articuno's Ice Beam was more than enough to KO my level 28 Raichu. And that... was my first defeat. And I'll never forget the crowd of people who watched us either; he had their admiration.

When Yellow came out, I remember taking it with me when I went duck hunting. While walking through a forest, I dropped my GBC. A year later, I found it. The precipitation and other elements had destroyed the GBC, but the Yellow still worked. I remember having Mew (gameshark), Gengar, Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. I had grown very attached to that save file after what it had gone through... until my cousin's retarded friend erased it.

Then I have another fond memory of losing to my own rival. I had been playing pokemon since the beginning with this one guy, who has always been somewhat of an Ash while I've been the Gary. Anyways, we were playing our Silver versions, and had both just caught our Sudowoodos, and decided to battle. The only reason he won is because I, regretably, told him that as a Rock type, Sudowoodo's weakness to be exploited in this match would be Fighting. And Sudowoodo knows Low Kick. So he won that one. Sudowoodo face-off. His had higher speed I guess. But I'll never forget it.

I have another fond memory of flaunting my Celebi on my Gold version to a kid many years ago at a summer camp. My friend and I laughed at his incredulity; obviously he had never heard of gameshark. We also laughed at him because he has a lisp though. That made his wonderment more humourous.

When I was a child my mother always refused to give me a gameboy for christmas, so I saved all my pocket money and bought one and a gold version when I was seven.
One week later I beat the game with my level 100 pidgeot...

furrypaws16 September 9th, 2008 12:34 PM

It's all pretty generic memories, actually. Here's one though. I was playing Pokemon Stadium 2 with some friends with my Pokemon Yellow version. We went to take a break, and for some reason I do not remember, I unplugged the transfer pack with my Yellow still in it, and left it on the floor. Sounds fine, right?

Well, my dog was teething. And, apparently, he couldn't find anything better to chew. Good bye, Transfer Pack. The Yellow actually still worked, despite having, you know, holes in the top indention where "Nintendo" is (it even saved, too!), but all the sprites showed up as a giant black box. So, somehow, don't exactly remember, but my Mom ended up getting me a new one, and I lived happily ever after.

I also remember waking up early with my older brother to play bug catching contests together in Gold and Silver. Even though we technically ingame weren't competing, we were if you understand what I mean. Oh, good memories. How time flies, eh?
