[ Shoddy RMT ] Sand Strain

I actually did this a while back, but updated it because I love the idea of a Sandstorm team so much.

So far, it's 2-0...so I know I'm doing OK for myself...

Ball of Sunshine (Foretress) @ Focus Sash
Jolly
EV's: 252 Defense, 252 Special Defense, 6 Speed
-Spikes
-Stealth Rock
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin

My lead, a total mess. The one thing I will say is that I refuse to take any of the spikes out. Most of the time, by the time I've set up the second spike set, I can switch into something else and kill off the spinner before it can even do anything (which happened when Tyranitar SE'd a Tentacruel.)

http://arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/tyranitar.png
TyrantSkies (Tyranitar) @ Life Orb
Jolly
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
-Dragon Dance
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

Usually what I send out second. It sets up Sandstorm for Torterra, Garchomp and Cacturne, and does what it usually would do otherwise: Sweep.

http://arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/gengar.png
NOSPIN4U (Gengar) @ Life Orb
Timid
EV's: 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP
-Focus Blast
-Hypnosis
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt

Like it implies, it counters spinners. I took the Smogon set because I'm TRULY terrible at making sets for Gengar. Focus Blast for coverage against Darks and Normals, Hypnosis for obvious reasons, Shadow Ball for fellow Ghosts, as well as Psychics, and Bolt for Gyarados, as well as a mean slap in the face to Spindercruel. =D

http://arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/garchomp.png
You Expected Something Else? (Garchomp) @ Yache Berry
Jolly
EV's: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 HP
-Stone Edge
-Outrage
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake

What else is there to say about this. Its nickname speaks for itself.

http://arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/torterra.png
(OWNAGE) TURTLE (Torterra) @ Leftovers
Impish
EV's: 212 HP, 252 Attack, 46 Speed
-Wood Hammer
-Leech Seed
-Protect
-Stone Edge

Went with the Smogon set on this one. It works rather well as a wall, as it can effectively wall most of what I have a problem with. With all three spike sets up, it's hard for my opponent to decide a switch unless they can predict Protect, which is unlikely. Stone Edge over Earthquake because my team needs more coverage against Gyarados and Ice-Types. Wood Hammer for STAB, and Leech Seed to improve tanking ability.

GO AWAY! >:[ (Skarmory) @ Leftovers
Keen Eye
Impish
EV's: 252 HP, 96 Attack, 156 Defense
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Stealth Rock
-Whirlwind

Physical wall, PHazer; it's what Skarmory does. It's the Smogon set, with Brave Bird for extra damage because I need some form of reliable damage.

I'm thinking of a Ghost to counter spinners. Gengar?
And there, Vance. You know my team. Happy now? =D
(Thanks for the pictures, by the way. =D)

That Cacturne is banned. Not the Cacturne, but the set. Everything about that is haxy, & therefor banned. That means Double Team & BrightPowder. No one will battle you if you can't follow standard rules.

DonRoyale September 1st, 2008 12:31 PM

Oh.
Whoops.
I wasn't aware of that...

Gengar gets put on the team in its place, then.

Use Jolly on DDTar. You'll be outsped by Jolly Garchomp after a DD if you use Adamant, which sucks. With Jolly, you outspeed all Base 115's, which is cool.

You could consider Explosion on Forry; none of your team is SR weak, and 2 of them are immune to T-Spikes and Spikes in general. For Garchomp, it seems as if you're using the CB set. Don't use Yache Berry unless it's SD. Slap a Choice Band on it please.

Double Team is banned. And besides, Cacturne has better things to be doing that Leech Seeding. A personal favorite of mine is the Destiny Bonder:

Cacturne @ Focus Sash
Jolly
252 Att/252 Spe/6 HP
Swords Dance
Sucker Punch
Seed Bomb
Destiny

Pretty elementary, a single Swords Dance will let Sucker Punch OHKO all 6 HP/0 Def Garchomp's, as well as OHKOing things like Azelf, Gengar, Starmie, etc...Seed Bomb for slower things like Vaporeon, which will do quite a bit after an SD. Destiny Bond can be replaced by Sub and Focus Sash replaced with Leftovers, but D-Bond is cool when you know you're done.

Lack of a special wall hurts also. Consider Regirock as your status absorber over something:

Regirock @ Leftovers
Careful
252 HP/252 SpD/6 HP
Rest
Sleep Talk
Hammer Arm/Ice Punch/Earthquake
Stone Edge

P.S: You have no real defense against Scarf Infernape. HP Ice/Flamethrower/Close Combat/Stone Edge can possibly 6-0 you. It hits everything except Gengar for super effective.

DonRoyale September 1st, 2008 1:12 PM

You have HP EV's listed twice on Regirock.

I'm not sure which to remove for either set. Without the banned DT/BP set, I don't want to run Cacturne. It's the only reason I liked it.

I might use Regirock, but I'm not EXACTLY sure.

You should take care of your Infernape weakness first =/ It can OHKO everything on your team except Garchomp and MAYBE Gengar.

Meh, I don't see the point on HP on something with Focus Sash, but that's just my two cents.

Got a better idea then? Not really a needed post ._.

Anyway, I'd reccomend something like Tentacruel to T-Spike, over Forry since you already have SR Skarm. Cruel can cover up that nasty ScarfApe weakness.

Well, the extra 6 EVs aren't really needed. You can do without them sometimes...

DonRoyale September 1st, 2008 1:59 PM

Tentacruel sounds good.
Should I be leading with it, though?

. September 1st, 2008 2:00 PM

It could get over some T-Spikes early. Either that or lead with Gengar

Archer September 2nd, 2008 6:09 AM

Tenta is a poor lead. Gengar would do better any day.
As for the Cacturne, I don't see much use in any other EVs, since it's Main Attack has priority, but I guess the speed could help.

Don't see how it's a waste, he was pointing out a mistake. Put those 6 EV's in Def, & call it a day. They will ensure maximum survivability, while still activating Sash.
