... Well. Since I read most of the series, with the exception of 6. I really liked how detailed the books were in comparision to the movies (2nd book was the best), but halfway through book 7, I was thinking "Come ON Rowling, finish it already.". I thought the battle between Voldemort and Harry had the most cliche conclusion (Harry coming back to life? That is so Sue.) and by the time the Epilogue was read, I metaphorically died because of the predictablity and blandness... And the awful fact that Ginny married Harry in the end

DeathlyHallows September 28th, 2008 5:21 AM

Although the end was, I admit, cliched, I really enjoyed it.
I dunno how many people really didn't like Book 7!
I mean, just holding it was the best feeling EVER!
and my breath was hold throughout the whole story!

Trap-Eds September 28th, 2008 8:06 AM

I've read 1-6, now I'm trying to get into Half Blood Prince. I like reading, but this book hasn't peaked my interest enough yet to want to be reading it 24/7.

Personally, THANK GOODNESS that no one spoiled it 4 me!

I was tired of Ron's whinings, and the trio was going nowhere for hundreds of pages. All they ever did was hiding and reading the journals. This seventh book was a big disappointment to me. I don't know if I'll ever try to reread it someday.

Safe to say, I read Harry potter. :]

I love them. I've read them all more than once, got the last 3 book the night they came out, been to midnight showings of the movies, and got my family and friends into them. They are one of my favorite, and I'm sad there won't be anymore.

Klippy September 29th, 2008 7:22 PM

I've never read anything better. I love the series. I've read each book at least three times over. It's what got me back into reading. I am re-reading the Deathly Hallows at the moment. I'd say that the last three books are the strongest of the series, along with the first. The other three aren't up to par with those, but they have every right to be part of the series. They all add to the mythology and logic behind the series.

I'm also bummed they're over. But hopefully she follows her word and makes that Encyclopedia like she said she would that would explain what happened to each character after the series ended. That would be spectacular, since the epilogue at the end of D.H. was rather short and thin.

Pyromaniac45 September 29th, 2008 7:34 PM

I hate the movies so much. but the books were good. I started reading JUST after the 4th book was released.

bubblewrap September 29th, 2008 8:52 PM

I read all the books around last year. Also, I don't really like the movies either. I hate it when people call themselves total Harry potter fans, but they don't even read the books. Yes, the epilogue was very unsatisfying. I'm just wondering who married Malfoy... probably Pansy.

GKS September 29th, 2008 9:10 PM

All 7 of them, they were good.

Spoilers ahead.

Hehehe... I read something like that while flipping the pages of D.H. I was giggling when I read that she killed Bellatrix.

Sexycheese September 30th, 2008 12:49 AM

Harry potters ok....I liked it when bellatrix died :)

RYOUKI September 30th, 2008 3:09 AM

Nope. The book's too thick for me, even tough that I can read books more ticker than that, my attention span can't take it. D:

Guillermo September 30th, 2008 3:19 AM

I never read the book series if there is a movie. I am that kind of a lazy person, if there will be a movie then screw a book. The only difference is the book is usually more detailed. I get my friends to tell me the difference.

Volkner's Apprentice October 2nd, 2008 8:50 PM

I usually don't care at all when they leave stuff out of movies that came from books. Productions cost money, folks. Either way, for Harry Potter, the only thing that really killed me was the 4th movie. It's a tournament. I loooooved this book, best one of the series and pretty much re-created the main plot which was the Voldemort vs. Harry debacle. For them to go and leave really OMEGA key parts of the book out of the movie and pretty much make every contestant besides Harry seem like a pointless sub-plot character killed me. Fleur marries Ron's brother later, for Christ sake. I guarantee there's a good chance they leave that out of the later movies, as well as possibly leaving out some of Ron's older brothers. Lame.

DeathlyHallows October 5th, 2008 3:02 AM

I used to be really disappointed with the cuts in movies, but then one day I said:
"They really can't make the movie 100% like the book, they've gotta cut some!"
Although I'm more staisfied with the movies now, I really think they cut too much from "Order of the Phoenix", although what was left was done well, they just left out too much! It's probably Michael Goldenberg's fault, who's the new screenplay writer!
Anyway, from what I heard "Half-Blood Prince" seems to ROCK!!
Hope So!

Lusankya October 5th, 2008 4:56 AM

I don't think it's a money issue, rather, a time issue. The books are so long (and getting longer, up until Half-Blood Prince) that they just have to keep cutting more and more to keep it within a reasonable time frame. They simply can't leave in anything but the absolute central plot anymore, or we'll be watching 5-6 hour movies.

SethCullen October 5th, 2008 5:09 AM

Yeah Ive read all the books, And watched all the movies (Except half blood prince and deathly hallows parts 1&2 CURSE YOU WARNER BROTHERS)

But my favorite line ever:

NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU *****

Ravecat October 5th, 2008 5:16 AM

I read them all up to Goblet of Fire.

Basically until they stopped being books and started being movie scripts.

What a sorry assumption. The best ones are the final three IMO.

Trap-Eds October 5th, 2008 7:36 AM

My friend's gonna hate me when I tell her this, but-I don't think I'm finishing this series now. It's just the same thing: Harry is at the Dursleys, something happens,he goes to Hogwarts, something freaky happens there, he solves the problem and goes home.

Hence the reason for the thicker books.

I love how that comes from a person who apparently still watches the Pokémon anime. :(

I repeat, I think the three last books are the better-written. Stuff gets more Sirius.

Then you should read the last book. No Hogwarts until the last few chapters.

Unforgettable October 5th, 2008 9:09 AM

I really don't find them repetitive. I think that there was something interesting in all of them. And The last 3 books... were amazing. I think the seriousness starts with book 4, and it goes from there.
