How do you organize your cards?

Like the title says, How do you organize your cards?

Most people I know seem not to care much, organizing most of the time by Type. I did this myself when I started collecting in the late 90's. Others, like myself, organize their cards by number.

So, let the community know what you do. Maybe some good idea's haven't been used much.

Well hopefully some of you nice people will help me determine what is rare and sell able and what isn't, so thats how I'll organize mine.

the bitter end. September 5th, 2008 2:42 PM

First by type, then by set, then alphabetically. Yeah that's pretty much how I organize everything.

icycatelf September 5th, 2008 4:56 PM

Umm... in the order I get them. Except my book capable of holding up to 100 cards, where I keep my cooloer holo rares organized by type & HP.

Wow, I feel dumb now saying that organizing by Type is "not caring".:nervous:

I like your way actually. Doesn't it get a little confusing sometimes though? Wouldn't you have to move around your entire binder every time you got a new card to fit it in?

RetreatCost September 7th, 2008 6:46 PM

Expansion>Number at the bottom right

So in my 9 pocket pages in my binder it goes 1/80 then 2/80 then 3/80 etc.

I thought everyone did it like that?

jackowacko876 September 22nd, 2008 12:40 PM

First by type, then by set, then by evolution chain.

Stormer07 September 26th, 2008 10:56 AM

I do it something like that. Except I go a step further and divide them by Class. Holo's, Rare's, Uncommon's, Common's, Energies, Promo's. Also Gym's, Gym Leaders and Unown get a different division. Also those theme decks with the pokemon sillouette's get them and the cards are divided into two sections. Old (Base-Neo) and new (Expedition-Current).

Yes, that is exactly what happens. Every time a new card comes, I have to move around most of the bounder. I've still got 8 cards I really can't be bothered putting in, so they're in a spare page at the back. Sometimes I leave gaps in anticipation.

So I go Class, Type, Set, Number. Sadly, because Serebii don't keep up with modern cards, I can't tell the latter sets which go first (as I only got into post-Neo cards this year) so I just geuss (usually the year helps)

transcender September 29th, 2008 11:56 AM

Types. That is, fire/electric/trainer/supporter/stadium/etc

I don't both organizing my EX series cards though. Don't use them, nothing worth selling.

Emerald Yoshi September 30th, 2008 6:30 PM

I always sort them by Rarity. Rares first, since it'll be quicker to trade and find my cards :)

Stronkadonk October 3rd, 2008 2:07 PM

Voted other, because I don't have them all sorted, other than the holos which I keep in a binder.

Try this to help with your newer sets.

billie_lightning October 3rd, 2008 2:56 PM

I usually do it by series. When I was younger I did it by type. I like doing it by number, but when you get a new one that you didn't have before you have reorganize your entire thing (unless you leave blank spaces)

I take that back. My cards are scattered everywhere. I just wish I could change my pole entry.

Tentacruel13 October 13th, 2008 3:03 PM

My 1000's of DP cards are organized by Type. But Holo cards come first.

Caelus October 13th, 2008 4:27 PM

I organize them randomly. Sometimes I may organize them by type or hp but most of the time there in no particular order.

Pokemon Trainer Mikko October 16th, 2008 6:46 PM

I separate them by booster series, and type. I then leave them in their boosters, as I only cut open the top.

shadowmightyena November 15th, 2008 2:12 AM

i organise em into type so if u are making a particular type deck it makes it alot easier.

Te-em November 15th, 2008 3:19 PM

I organise them into what colour (type) deck they can be played in. I keep all my old cards in one box and the new ones (DP on) in other boxes. I have binders to have cards in, so I have one of each card there. That way it's easy to see what cards I have, because it's always easier to look through a binder. Then I just look for the card I want in the box.

I also keep Pokemon, Trainer and Energy separated. I wished there weren't so many colourless cars, and so many Pokemon being colourless, because it's much to look through. They should focus on making metal and darkness Pokemon cards. And multi-coloured, because they're fun to play :)

Circuit November 15th, 2008 3:47 PM

In folders I put them in type so they are easy to track down, EX/LvX's first. I decks I go; Holo>Energys>Trainers>Other cards.

The warden November 16th, 2008 11:56 AM

Type but not based upon individual types but the main type of each familly I used to make decks and so tend to keep them in famillies. I don't group pokemon that dont evolve by familly though I prefer to put them in the right type.

Example. if I had two grass Exeggucute, one Physchic and an exeegcutor (Grass) i would put them all in grass, but if i had a fire raquaza and two normal i would sort these by type

pokemongodess November 17th, 2008 2:21 PM

just organize mine by sets, base, jungle, fossil... etc..

Moyo-chan November 17th, 2008 3:04 PM

I go by Ex>Holo>Normal>Trainer>Energy>Misc.
Basically best to not as good LOL

DDD'SSCEPTILE November 17th, 2008 3:17 PM

I'm gonna go by Series these days.
Seeing as I don't play it anymore, I'm gonna sort it all out into better cleaner and more organized.

I have two binders. My old one that my Mom got me from Nintendo Power, and one I picked up during the Dragonite event.

I'm going to go through my old cards and put all the good ones, holos, and put them in the Pikachu binder, maybe in Set/series and order.

I'm gonna use my new binder to go through my EX series, pick out all the good cards, to the same, and then so far into it I'll put in my Holon Phantoms cards, and then my new D/P Stormfront cards.

I hope I get a Pokemon Star card soon..
