Day.......... and Night

Since Espeon and Ubreon are back
The only way for Eevee to evolve into those two is to raise them in the dark or the light. which means that the Morning/Noon/Evening/Night thing from GSC is comming back. :\ :disappoin :\ :disappoin

shining_light August 18th, 2004 8:14 AM

No, It Doesn't. THe Programmers wanted to keep the game as original as possible. Only way to get Espeon/Umbreon isto trade from Colluseum. That's it. You don't get them in FR/LG. Sorry to burst your bubble :P

Castrainer August 18th, 2004 8:15 AM

Not at all. In Ru/Sa, Wurmple evolves to Silcoon in sunlight, and to Cascoon during the night and the Day/Night system didnt appaered...

shining_light August 18th, 2004 8:17 AM

What are you trying to get at, Gian?

Frostweaver August 18th, 2004 8:22 AM

Nope. Wurmple evolves COMPLETELY RANDOMLY. Day and night doesn't do a thing for Wurmple

However, day and night does exist. It doesn't do any effect on graphics or anything like in GSC. Eevee will evolve into Umbreon or Espeon after you unlock the Nationaldex, and then depending on day and night, Eevee will evolve. (however since there's no graphic for day and night, you'll just have to check the time yourself).

What the heck are you talking about

Wurple's evolution depends on Gender :tired:

GymLeaderLance99 August 18th, 2004 9:26 AM

That's right. Well, it's what I've found anyway. And to evolve Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon, trade it to Ru/Sa and then evolve them when it's the appropriate time. If it's the same from GSC, then Espeon can evolve from 6am to 5:59 pm, and Umbreon from 6pm to 5:59 am. Just check the clock in your room in Littleroot.

Toothache August 19th, 2004 1:19 AM

It seems there's a lot of misconceptions about Eevee and his friendship evolutions. And Dustox and Beautifly as well, it seems. Let me attempt to clarify things.

While there is no apparent day and night in Ruby and Sapphire, the internal clock does work in the same way as Gold, Silver and Crystal. Wurmple's two evolutions, Silcoon and Cascoon are dependant on the time in which you evolve him.

From people who've hacked an Eevee into their game, it is even possible to level up and gain either an Espeon or an Umbreon through happiness - although you may have to do a bit of guesswork to work out when night and day time is, since you can't really check it.

aqonix August 19th, 2004 7:21 PM

I have done test I evolved two wrumples a the same time of day one female one male

males = Beautifly
females = Dustox

forgive my bad spelling :nervous:

Frostweaver August 19th, 2004 7:37 PM

I'm sure that it's not day and night, as you can get both at the same time. However this misconception is very common (I thought that it's day/night at first too) because Beautifly learns morning sun and Dustox learns moonlight, leading us to think of Beautifly as day and Dustox as night.

Gender is also impossible, as you CAN get male and female Beautiflies. You can prove this by finding both male and female silcoons, male and female cascoons. Gender is out of the picture. All semi-accurate pokedexes online will tell you that there's 50% for both gender for both Beautifly and Dustox.

This leaves us with personality values and EVs left as they are the only numbers left. EV is manipulated, so it cannot be EV. All we're left with is personality values, and controlling that is impossible, so we can just say "it's random."

Testing with Wurmple for evolution is OFTEN inaccurate, such as the many claims made in this thread. This is because there are too many personality value combinations (31 to the power of 6 = 887503681). Out of all those massive amounts of possible combinations, 443751841 of those combinations will result in Beautifly, and the others in Dustox. You can easily catch 20 male Wurmples that satisfy one out of the 44375184 possible combinations to get yourself a Beautifly.

This is the reason why all this Wurmple matter vary from site to site. How can you "test" it out? You won't find a unified answer. The only way to find this is to hack into the game itself and see what's the determining factor, which is what Meowth has done.

Dizzy August 19th, 2004 10:12 PM

Its totally random, I already experimented on this. I caught 12 Wurmple (yes..research took a while, but patience shone through) and I carried 6 with me the first time. The result of the First Set was:

-Keep in mind I will skip Cascoon and Silcoon-
Male Wurmple > Beautifly
Female Wurmple > Dustox
Male Wurmple > Dustox
Female Wurmple > Dustox
Male Wurmple > Beautifly
Female Wurmple > Dustox

The First Set obviously had over 50% Dustox. But the next set:

Male Wurmple > Dustox
Female Wurmple > Beautifly
Male Wurmple > Beautifly
Female Wurmple > Dustox
Male Wurmple > Dustox
Female Wurmple > Beautifly

The Next set was equally rivaled. So me puzzled, I went out and captured 6 more Wurmple, and this was the result:

Male Wurmple > Dustox
Female Wurmple > Beautifly
Male Wurmple > Beautifly
Female Wurmple > Dustox
Male Wurmple > Beautifly
Female Wurmple > Dustox

Once again...this set tied between Dustox and Beautifly.

Totally random, 18 Wurmple and a few hours of research. Although There was slightly more than 50% Dustox (10 to be exact) I can still say totally random, none of them were given anything to hold, and were all raised the same way.

-Now...I have 18 Dustox/Beautifly...who wants one?

Castrainer August 20th, 2004 10:16 AM

Well, mine always evolved to Beautifly at Day, and Dustox at night... So its just coincidence @[email protected]

But how about the High and Low Tides at Shoal Cave?

Toothache August 20th, 2004 10:24 AM

The Shoal Cave changes tide every six hours (a sailor right near to the cave tells you about that).

So... There are no Night at Ru/Sa? o__o

Toothache August 20th, 2004 10:28 AM

Not completely sure about that. There is time, yes, because a lot of things depend on the internal clock (berry growth, Shoal Cave, etc), but I'm not completely sure how it's set up

GymLeaderLance99 August 20th, 2004 10:33 AM

I'm sure the time is the same as it was in GSC, so look at my earlier post where I put the times as I explained about Espeon and Umbreon.

Frostweaver August 20th, 2004 10:34 AM

Night doesn't exist. "Nightime" does though. You can't see any graphic changes, so night doesn't exist. However, the effect of nightime is still here, even though it's minimal and almost neglectable.

-affects evolution (Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon)
-affects moonlight/synthesis/morning sun

The biggest lost is the different wild Pokemon found depending on time of the day... I have no idea why they want to wipe out neat things like that O.o;

Thanks for da Explanation, frostweaver...
And I agree... Hitting people with Mach Bike at Night would be cool and I would call myself an Assassin ^_^ XD

VanirElf August 26th, 2004 11:16 AM

uh...wurmple's evolution is random

as for espeon and umbreon

the game has an internal clock remember

u don't see the change but espeon and umbreon

both evolve, at the according times

6PM to 5:59AM u get umbreon
6AM to 5:59PM u get Espeon

I have both in my sapphire version , all u need is an eevee to breed
so u can get the others

besides if it's a remake u can get eevee in that um...saffron or was that
celedon...I don't remember but where the casino is in the old version
u could get an eevee there so you should be able to get one in fr/lg
