RMT [PLTNM OU] (not offensive)

Still a little new to the platinum metagame, and seeing as my last team couldnt cut it anymore, I decided to make a new team, it's doing somewhat well to my surprise though. But I feel it can be better....

Try Wish over Baton Pass on Vaporeon. I used that on my SpecsVappy, became quite useful. Depends though, scouting (along the chance to absorb intimidates and the like) or healing? Your boat, not mine. :P Also promotes more longevity on the team, making sure Rotom and Porygon maintain their stay.

By the way, some of your natures are severely twisted. By chance did you make this when you were sleepy or what? XD "Modest Nature (+Atk -S.Atk)" "Impish Nature (+Atk -S.Def)" Might want to review those. ;D

Interesting team though, would've liked some comments with your insight. Well, make sure your prediction stays par or you could be in for a long day against all the overwhelming offensive teams out there.

One little problem I found was about Rotom. With Overheat, it's special attack will drop, thus not allowing you to dish much damage back and if you switch, you just send something in to take another blow, especially in this more offensive metagame.

Nah, that's not a worry. I've been playing with Overheat on my Oven and it's not that much of an issue. Overheat takes care of various sweepers and such as Metagross, Heracross, Scizor, Lucario; all in one shot. After it accomplishs that goal, if he hasn't already dish out some more Thunder Wave, he can then do that. And easily switch to another party member to absorb a hit. And with all of his walls, seems like that won't be a problem. It's a much more offensive metagame, sure, but Rotom thrives in it.

You could try Reflect on it though.

Thanks for the replies guys. And yes Beach Boy it was late, I apologize for my lack of thoroughness on natures XD. The team's concern is only to function well in the metagame not to get me to #1 on the ladder with an offensive sweep, sweep, rape, rape team.

Edited 1st post XD

Also another little thing I saw, Rotom will want hp fighting for ghost/fight coverage, which hits everything for neutral. (Unless game freak makes a ghost/ Normal type)

The problem I see though BB is that you still will want to switch, unless you want to get walled by Tyranitar, which uses Pursuit on CB sets.

Hp ground does next to nothing to tyranitar after overheat, it does something like

10.89% to CB tar in sand storm

That is, if I used libeldra's calculator properly.

Thus why Will-o-wisp and Reflect are good support options. I'd rather see the removal of Shadow Ball for it than the removal of Overheat. No matter the case, Overheat is pretty much the staple of Oven Rotom, if he doesn't want that move, gladly use another form. Overheat simply destroys too much to not use it.

HP Ground is so I can just hit Ape and Vire hard, as well as Heatran hoping to come in on a Fire Move, as well as hitting Metagross without relying on Overheat too early.

Now Reflect + Thunder Wave seems like a more tempting option....

Though I assumed Tyranitar will stop using Pursuit nowadays and just use: CB: Fire Punch/ Aqua Tail/ Stone Edge/ Crunch or LO DD/Ice Beam/ Crunch/ Stone Edge

Thanks for feedback guys, though i still need help with the bolded parts XD

Overheat may kill a few things, but however, heatran is so common. And with well prediction, pory2 can switch in on fire blasts. Hp fighting then can cover tyranitar who will laugh at you otherwise.

And losing stab on rotom won't be too wise. Ghost prevides coverage and STAB, coupled with rotom's base 105 Special attack.

Completely disagree.

Without Overheat, an onslaught of multiple threats could provide problems for this team. And yes, Heatran is practically on every team.
And correct, Pory2 can stop Tran's Fire Blast cold, if anything you're helping my case, and they're usually choiced anyway. But Rotom needs to shut down the major threats. Period. Shadow Ball won't do a damn thing to Scizor, Lucario, Metagross, Heracross, Skymin, etc. What more top tier OU Pocket Monsters shall I list that Overheat rips to shreds? Oh, how about Forretress? Rotom is spin blocking sometimes, and can smoke one of those in a single shot, too. Do all these sound like a "few"? Sure, hope that he doesn't smack a Tran with it, but he can work around it. And just because there's a fire move doesn't mean someone can't use it due to Heatran. Think of every annoying Scizor out there, that's oh so common too. Right up there with Heatran in usage. Overheat is not a move to go meh about.

Choice Scarf Tricking Rotom with max special attack & speed investment would probably be a nice toy to try for this team. Covering an array of even more threats. Shadow Ball, Trick, Thunderbolt, Overheat; works like a charm. It's offensive rather, unlike your defensive nature, but it'd probably ease some weight on the other members. Or you could run a Reflect/Will-o-wisp & Thunder Wave defensively minded set. Depends on what you want.

Either way, I disagree with dropping Overheat on Oven Rotom when it's very useful. :|

boo836 September 28th, 2008 10:10 AM

Overheat is an option, as it will cover those little animals that we trap in orbs and pit them against one another until they faint from their wounds Pokemon. However, I just don't think that losing Special attack on a wall with 105 spatt is really nescessary. I can agree that it is still a viable choice. But that Hidden power fighting is an option aswell.

Noir Lancer September 28th, 2008 10:42 AM

I made some more concrete edits now.

I'm leaning towards HP [Fire] and Shadow Ball on Rotom at the moment, also decided on T-Wave and Reflect so Tyranitar doesn't completely have its way with it.

ResTalk Hitmontop so it can take the Hypnosis so Snorlax can better fight Gengar and Azelf which give me problems, and Bullet Punch as well.
