*British Accent* He's Got the Inside Water! (Monotype RMT)

Well, since my shoddy is screwing up right now, I'm not able to compete in Vance's monotype tournament, which sux. I felt like posting my monotype team up here for a rate. Remember this:
According to Vance's Rules, one of the pokemon does not have to be of the type that you were given. My type- you guessed it- was water.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/gyarados.png

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Jolly Nature
252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP

Aqua Tail
Stone Edge
Dragon Dance
Thunder Wave

This lead is a shocker to everyone who meets it. Expecting something like Taunt, they go to a taunt aborber, whilst they are T-Waved, or I set up. Stone Edge and Aqua Tail destroy most of today's common leads.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/swampert.png

Swampert @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
252 Def/ 252 Atk/ 6 HP

Waterfall
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Avalanche

This is a phyiscal, monstrous beast. He can come in and abosrb physical hits, and kill back with powerful moves such as STAB waterfall and EQ, Stone Edge for Bulky Waters and such, Avalanche for Grass types who think that sleeping me is a good idea.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/kingdra.png

Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Modest Nature
252 Spa/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP

Hydro Pump
Dragon Pulse
HP Electric
Ice Beam

My main special sweeper. STAB Specs Hydro Pump Hurts.; BAD. I used to run a suicide Rain Dance Aero for a lead, Hydro Pump terrorized everyone for that. All the other moves are pretty self-explanatory.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/vaporeon.png
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
68 Spa/ 252 Def/ 188 HP

Wish
Protect
Surf
HP Electric

I have aboslutely no idea how to make a WishVappy set, but this onehas been working somewhat. Extreme help needed on this set.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/suicune.png

Suicune @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 Spe

Calm Mind
Surf
Rest
Roar

Ah, Crocune. So bulky, yet so powerful. Water hits a lot of things Hard, so Surf is the attacking move here. I chose not to RestTalk so I could phaze. besides, Crocune can get so bulky, 2-5 turns of sleep doesn't matter.

http://www.arkeis.com/images/pokemonfactory/dragonite.png

Dragonite @ Yache Berry
Adamant/Jolly Nature
252 Spe/ 252 Atk/ 6 HP

Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Outrage
FirePunch/ Aqua Tail/Roost

I've nevver used dragonite before, so I'm not to keen on movesets. This guy's sole purpose is to take on grass types and to "revenge-kill" E-vire by coming after Vire Kills, taking an Ice Punch while DDing, then killing with EQ.

ABYAY September 28th, 2008 8:53 PM

I know this may seem awkward, but one of the top-notch water types, Starmie, can SERIOUSLY destroy this team.

[email protected] Orb
Timid, Natural Cure
252sp.atk/216spd/40HP (or 252sp.atk/252spd/6HP)

Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Grass Knot

This set is indeed rare, usually with Recover over Grass Knot, but if said Starmie user goes full offense, you're in trouble.

Sub-Roost Nite weak

Physical Electivire preys on 2/3 of the team (5/6 if Kingdra is weak), should it switch in on a Gyarados Thunder Wave later in the game. Keep Swampert alive, or you can be in a death zone.

Skip Shot September 28th, 2008 9:02 PM

Changing the surprise poke might help with Star and Vire. Let's see...

Shuckmonlee could work

would a Scarf/MoP(never figured out wat tat meant lol)/RestTalk Cross work over Tran? I mainly had tran in there since I was going to be facing TB with the team, and he was grass.

ABYAY September 28th, 2008 9:14 PM

You could use the Rest/Sleep Talk/Megahorn/Stone Edge Heracross if that floats your boat. It'll counter most Starmies with ease, but does nothing to help against Vire. It's not OHKO'd, but still.

The key attacking types you need to avoid are Grass and Electric. Swampert helps with Electric weakness, but nothing absorbs grass; well, with Heatran or Heracross, you have an answer. A bulky Dragon can also help if you drop Kingdra, but that might open up Vire to KO your team quicker with Ice Punch.

Walrein September 29th, 2008 12:09 AM

Heatran is just so constracting with my beautiful aquetic angels...insted of it, use a Rain Dance lead to assist the rest of your team. No Water/Ice combo? Dewgong could be a great assert to this team, but they are all beloved Water-types...

Angelic Diablo September 29th, 2008 12:27 AM

Since your Kingdra is spec'd, you could go Draco Meteor > Dragon Pulse unless the PP is an issue.

Also Wish Vappy works better with [email protected] HP, 252 Def, 68 Sp Atk.

Skip Shot September 29th, 2008 8:32 PM

E-vire pretty much is going to scrwe my team over. I just have to find a way to outspeed and revenge kill... Iwould go Duggy over Tran, but I lose my Grass Resist.

Froslass, Water/Ice opens me up to Evire more, since he can then bring some pressure on with Cross Chop and such.

Diablo, PP isn't much of an issue for me, I jsut odn't prefer having the spa drop on a specs set. Thanx for the help on Wish Vappy.

. September 29th, 2008 8:37 PM

I don't see how Starmie destroys this team. Kingdra can revenge kill Starmie by taking an Ice Beam (44.18% - 52.05%) And OHKO with HP Electric.

Skip Shot September 29th, 2008 8:49 PM

LO Star outspeeds modest Specs Kingdra from what I know. Which means if kIngdra switches in, its screwed.

. September 29th, 2008 8:51 PM

Notice why I said "revenge kill" Basically, come in after something dies (or just a Surf, since Kingdra 4x resists it) and OHKO it.

Skip Shot September 29th, 2008 9:01 PM

I didn't read the revenge kill part, lol. Mai eyes are going blind from overchlorination.

Responding to ABYAY's post about briniging a bulky dragon: It could work, except for one minor problem. To use the only bulky dragon I want to use, I have to steal the patent of your Sub-Roost Nite from you. That gives me an answer against E-vire and grasses at the same time. I know how badly Sub-Roost Nite hurts, I've been whacked around by it before.

. September 29th, 2008 9:09 PM

Um, how does it give you an answer to E-Vire? Electivire learns Ice Punch.

Skip Shot September 29th, 2008 9:22 PM

Ask ABYAY how he survived a double DD Stone Edge from my Gyara with his Roost Nite and could still sub. that Nite is extremely bulky. It alsohas Roost to shrug off the damage.

. September 29th, 2008 9:30 PM

Gyarados's Stone Edge w/ 2 Dragon Dances + LO vs. 385 HP/258 Def Dragonite= 130.91%-154.29%

Electivire's Ice Punch w/ LO vs. 385 HP/258 Def Dragonite= 107.01%-126.75%

._.

Skip Shot September 30th, 2008 5:57 AM

odd. i didn't know that standard one would be OHKOed like that.

DOesn't Nite outspeed E-Vire? That would mean that E-vire gets outstalled by Nite, then I can switch to Vappy, take the T-Bolt that comes at me w/ Protect, bring in Swampert, and eitehr for a switch or EQ kill.

No, Electivire has a base of 95 speed while Dragonite has only 80.
Seeing that with Yache, a 6HP/0Def Dragonite will take at max 98.77% damage from a Choice Banded Adamant max attack Electivire's Ice Punch, outurns it after one Dragon Dance, and OHKOs it with Earthquake, Dragonite can beat Eletivire one-on-one.

Skip Shot September 30th, 2008 6:10 AM

Good point, however we are using abyay's bulky subroost nite, so dd isn't going to help.

Dark Azelf September 30th, 2008 6:13 AM

Why do you even HAVE a vire weak with swampert lol ?. HP Grass isnt even common so you have nothing to fear tbh.

Electivire will be OHKOed by Earthquake without any attack boost (Dragon Dance or otherwise) if it has the 6HP/0Def standart even if Dragonite is Jolly (and with max attack). Unfortunatly, Jolly will not make Dragonite outurn Adamant max speed Electivire.
(How I just love the damage calculator)

Skip Shot September 30th, 2008 8:20 PM

Good point, should I just run a DD Outrage Nite with Yache?

Um...what? I do not even recall such a situation. You must've been against someone else who had a Reflect up. It doesn't help against Vire at all; only against Grass moves.

Skip Shot September 30th, 2008 9:08 PM

probably. either u or some guy named tofu that pissed me off on the ladder before it crashed on me by showing up 5 battles in a row...

I'm going to change ScarfTran to DDOutrage Yache Nite. That stops vire, counters my grass and electirc weaks, and helps me team out more than Tran
