I never got to see those guys. They only appear once, and I didn't notice them. I might have noticed the butler, though... I don't remember. It's been a while since I've gone through the place for the first time. I think I'll search for them when Platinum comes out...

Why, yes it is! Duh. Ever heard of it? Older Japanese games that do not have Wi-Fi aren't upgraded. The patch was stored during a battle or something.

no, I never heard of it. -_-
I can't imagine how it would work with the ds, but that could be me because I'm used to the updating and patching on the pc and psp.

First off, hi everyone! Just joined this fourm tonight. Ironicly, I wind up here (It's currently Halloween for those who don't understand why I call it irony). Anyway, I know for a fact, like many others here, the two human ghosts are ALWAYS available to be seen.

I always Sp. Attack EV train my Pokemon there and I always look for the two for the fun of it while training. It never matters what you do first (example: look or "talk" to the statue to see the butler) or what time of day/night/morning you look for them. The only thing you need to do is to be patient. Just walk in and out of the specific rooms (depending on who you want to see) over and over again until they appear. If you ask me, I belive they simply appear at random every time you enter those two rooms.

As for the Painting, that's easy. It works every time so, I won't bother typing.

So, TorchicBlaziken, go ahead and return to the old place I can never spell. You'll find them. Just be patient.

Trap-Eds November 1st, 2008 8:02 AM

Heh, I went to the old Chateau last night to see if I could find the ghosts for some Halloween fun. I only saw the butler and the painting, though. :3:

.Scream November 1st, 2008 8:30 AM

Just to confirm this, where are the ghosts?

1. Dining Room
2. Room w/ Rotom television event?

Because I've been in there numerous times and I haven't seen anything. =|

DarkPrince_ November 1st, 2008 2:29 PM

Are you kidding? I LOVE playing at night. It is so awesome. Now about the little girl, I think she is probably a ghost because maybe the little kid got lost in the chateau and died from lack of food and water.

The first one is right. The dining room's where the Butler is. The little girl, however, isn't in the room with the TV. To see the girl, go to the 2nd room from the right. When she does appear, she'll be in the neighboring room to the right. Those are the locations.

By the way, I went to search for, at least, the butler today in the way I described earlier. It was sometime within the 11th hour of the day (11 AM) and took about 10 to 12 times of going in and out of the dining room before I saw the butler. So, I can say, quite certainly, that's all you gotta do.

I hope this clears things up for you. Happy (ghost) hunting!

It's my secret ingredient for scaring my parents at night. xD

Destrozone November 1st, 2008 5:39 PM

this thing scared me so much. i saw it about 2-3 days after the game came out, because i wanted to see everything. saw this, and didnt play for about 2 weeks, then worked up the courage to start playing again. TRUE STORY! this totally freaked me out, and the music is creepy. its like: duhhhhnnnn duhhhnnnn duhhhhhhnnnnn DUHNNN!

I went in last night at about 11:30 and I still didn't see anything. Would it have to do with me merely having 6 badges? :P (Trainer Card is bogus but team is correct)

Though, I can't say for sure, I wouldn't think so. Remember; I belive they appear at random. I tried again last night. The butler took about the same amount of times but, this time I only walked in once and the little girl was there!

Its in Eterna Forest, near the end. You need CUT to access it.

I would try at this moment in time but I'm heading for Snowpoint. :P

I wish someone would take pics of these ghosts.

i think it would be just great!

So Platinum leaves us blind about this matter for eternity :/.

My thoughts on this: The Pokémon Mansion's statue must be related. Don't ask me how, I haven't read that much on this matter, but it seems interesting. I'll read some more.

Heart's Soul November 2nd, 2008 10:22 AM

The statue is... odd and may have an effect on events. It's not a normal script, I noticed...

awww man, are you kidding? I can't imagine that nintendo would place some sort of mysterious things in the game without any meaning. there HAS to be some sort of mission or story somewhere in the game, like in Diamond and Pearl (and in Platinum?) when you search for Cresselia, the boy with the bad dreams is related to Darkrai, though you don't know that. or like in pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow in the Cinnabar Mansion where to story of Mew and the creation of Mewtwo is writen in multiply Diaries.

.Scream November 2nd, 2008 10:42 AM

Saw the girl and the butler now. Theres gotta be a way of finding something out about these. Maybe, when the guard goes on break in the Mansion with Trophy Garden, go touch the statue then go to the Old Chateau and touch the other statue?

Tried it, nothing happens.

I think it may have something to do with Rotom... Its existence there can be related to previous events, apart from living in the TV.

But come to think of it, with all the hacking possibilities, nowadays, if there was something someone had already found it out =P.

.Scream November 2nd, 2008 11:42 AM

Someone might actually make a hack out of it if you think of the possibilities.

Hey yeah, I always wondered why Gardenia was there. I'd love to know why.

AbsolCommunities November 2nd, 2008 3:53 PM

She and the Butler are ghosts. Personaly, I think that the little girl had Rotox (whatever it is) as a pokemon, in another form, only it became a ghost with her and lived in the TV. Another secret of the Old Chateau is that if you go into the main room of the mansion, and talk to the side of the statue next to the dining room door, and immediatly enter the dining room after, a butler will be spotted from across the table, that will then hover (like a "ghost") off screen, where it freakin vanishes! Freakin freaky, huh?

The guard goes on break from 2 AM until 4 AM.

And I'm pretty sure there's no in-game direct thing to do between both statues.

I'm not quite sure why, however, Rotom is found in Old Chateau. Perhaps it's just because it's a spooky environment?

But, I digress. The other night I was playing Platinum and was roaming Old Chateau when to my alarm the ghostly little girl crept across the screen. To say that I was startled would have been a bit of an understatement - then again, it WAS late at night.. :B

While it's a good theory, I don't think so. I think Rotom exists on its own as a pokemon and always has - it is merely very hard to discover. It inhabits machinery and causes them to go defunct. As a matter of fact, that's how it was discovered. Pluto noted in the journal that's in the secret room of the Eterna Galatic Base that he discovered Rotom as a child in his lawn mower.
Wouldn't it be interesting if he actually lived in Old Chateau instead?

That is a good theory. But there are mysterys unsettled here. Maybe Rotom reacts with the statue in the Pokémon Mansion?

I read Bulbapedia and it says that Pluto might have possibley grown up with the Rotom.

I fail to understand how a sprite no bigger than a few pixels wide on your DS can scare you.
Also, the sprites aren't even spooky looking, just look like normal people, could have made them translucent or something, maybe unsaturated in color.

Okay then, rileyvace. Consider this: What are some of your fears. I, for one, am afraid of spiders. Its a very common yet, silly fear. Most of the spiders we come in contact around the house and such aren't the types that can actually hurt or kill us, let alone bite us in the first place. However, whenever people like me see one, we jump back so quickly, it nearly breaks the sound barrier.

Now, my point here is that there are many different things in this universe (or other universes if you one who's into the whole 'multi-dimensional' thing) and many different reasons to fear them. These things may sometimes be completely weird and silly but, just keep in mind, the human mind (not to be confused with the human brain) is very complex. With all the psychologists of history who've studied it, we are still yet to fully understand how it works.

As for the fear of a sprite on a game screen, I think many here agree that, yeah, it's creepy but, that's it. I belive the fact that such a bizzare thing would be programed into a generally child directed game, is rather creepy, right? Not to mention the background music that plays whenever you're in there. The music really can alter your very mood. Though, as with color, music only alters your mood based on your life long assosiations with the particular melody and such (or color). That's only how I feel though. The entire scientific community still debates on the mood altering subject. However, the fact that is does alter it is agreed to be truth. Anyway, returning to what does play in the game, the majority of players associate creepiness and fear with such music, just as the designers intended.

I sure hope I was able to cover all my thoughts here, as well as enable those who seem so sceptical on our "fears" to better understand why we say what we do. I also, hope I can at least speak for the majority here. I definetly don't want to put words in others' mouths. Well, I guess that's it, and fell free to comment and/or add to what I've just said. Otherwise, one remains stiff and bland; never able to grow from the ideas of others. Well, see ya!

Zelda November 5th, 2008 10:09 AM

"I never saw the girl yet...........but the old man is REALLY creepy...what room is the girl in?"

.Scream November 5th, 2008 10:29 AM

Shes in the second to last room down to the right on the top flight of stairs, If that makes sense. :P

RileyVace November 5th, 2008 12:18 PM

I understand your points, but fear of spiders is a phobia, very different from a simple fear.
Fear is something like fear of Dieing, or of pain, a valid reason to be scared.

A phobia is classed as being scared of something that possibly couldn't harm you.
And before you say HURR DURR VENOMOUS SPIDERS, that's not what Arachnophobia is.
It's being scared OF the spider, not what it's capable of.

My point is, as far as I am aware there is no phobia of being scared of pixels.
And finding it creepy - I dunno it just looked like a random girl in the house, same with the old man. Nothing creepy for me...

And that's it an opinion - I don't get why a 16x16 pixel is creepy, even witht eh fiction involved lol.

Well, maybe I just gave an example that you didn't quite get the point out of. I suppose, in a nut shell, I simply mean that different people find different things scary, no matter what degree of fear. Also, fear, like any emotion, can nearly range infinate points. Yet, it's all the same; just different levels.

However, I'm no expert on the subect and I'm not one to disagree. Besides, I thank you for responding to what I typed. You have good insight, as well as making the time I took to type it worth while. I do love debating things, however, there's a huge difference between debating and arguing so, I won't.

Well, if you or anyone else who wishes to join in this little debate has anymore comments, feel free to let eveyone know. After all, that is the point of the fourms, right? Let's just not stray too far from the actual ghost subject, okay?

In my case, it simply startled me, as it was late, and it was kind of weird. The general spooky ambiance of Old Chateau doesn't really help, either. :p

I admit, I don't believe I've seen the old man. Maybe I will, one of these days.

I was first scared by the music and all..
But when i saw the old man.. I shivered like h*ll...
The girl was also scary.. But the worst thing that made me so scared was..
when you check the TV out..
It says:

I got so scared!!!

According to a journal in a secret room in the Eterna Galactic HQ, Pluto discovered and named Rotom. When he was a child, Pluto lost his toy robot. He spent hours looking for it to no avail. Suddenly a Rotom jumped out of his lawnmower and he was surprised to say the least. He named the Pokémon Rotom, and soon Pluto and the Pokémon became good friends. Pluto always wanted to hug his new friend, but he couldn't for obvious reasons. However, one day, Rotom got startled and zapped Pluto, making him faint. When he awoke, Rotom was gone. Soon after, he found his toy robot in the garbage. When he picked it up, Pluto realized that Rotom had entered his toy. He could then finally hug his new friend.

Mini-story Time! :D!
Read at night while listening to the Old Chateau music for extra spookiness.

The Old Chateau was nearly invisible contrasted against the dark green trees. It was midnight in Eterna Forest, and two Galactic Grunts were having a tea party. At this hour? Preposterous! But they were. "Would you be a dear and pass the waffles?" Grunt 1 said to Grunt 2. "Um... this is a tea party. We don't have waffles." Grunt 2 said irritably. "I have waffles." said a voice. "WAFFLES?!" Grunt 1 shouted, seeing the Old Chateau where the voice had come. Grunt 2 hadn't noticed that the other grunt had left. "Billy? Billy? Where are you?" she said, looking around nervously. She saw the Chateau and opened the squeaky door. "Biiiiiiiiiiilly? Are you in here?" she asked, looking cautiously at a statue. She walked up to a door inside the main foyer, and turned back around, looking at the statue. It's eyes seemed to glisten, glaring at her, and yet focusing on every part of the room except her. She looked back around, heard a sound, and looked back. "Hmm... there's nothing there." she said, shrugging. But that was the problem. There was nothing there. Where there was a statue, the space was empty. Realizing this, she whirled back around. The statue was there again. "Oh... I must have... imagined it." she turned back around and- "AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" she screamed, for right in front of her was a little girl, floating a few inches above the ground, looking at her. "Hi." she said, raising an eyebrow. The Galactic Grunt paled and stumbled backwards, hitting the grunt with a thud. "Please... get back..." The Grunt said, scuttling backwards. "Errr... okay." The girl said, floating away, through the wall. The Grunt was breathing rapidly, standing back up and pulling open the door as quickly as possible. She walked in and saw a large table with a butler across from it. "Please! Please, there are ghosts here! My friend Billy... I can't find him, could you help-" she was cut off by the blank stare of the butler. "Hello?" she asked, an icy chill gripping her. The butler turned, but didn't turn like a normal person. The turn was fluid, like a person who wasn't walking. A person-

"Floating... Aaaaaaahhhhh!!" She screamed, dashing out of the door, ignoring the butler floating through the wall. She saw Billy dash down the staircase as well, running out of the door gripping a box of waffle mix. They nearly ran into each other while they were escaping out of the front door, and they collapsed on the forest floor outside. "Its going to be okay, Billy. It's gonna be okay." The grunt said, turning towards Billy.

He was gone.

DUN. DUN. DUUUN!!!

:D

The Place looks Scary. but why Nintendo added these Creepy Things in Old Chateau? its Spooky but it does nothing and it doesnt affect the game either. or maybe this must be a Mystery.

RYOUKI November 30th, 2008 11:55 PM

I've saw the little girl, when I was in the television room, I saw the little girl in the right. I didn't think it was creepy, i tried to talk to her but she was gone. I haven't seen the butler yet though.

Heart's Soul December 1st, 2008 5:10 PM

I feel like this was a joke by nintendo. This isn't serious, 2 people that are ghosts that appear about 4% of the time. So?

giro1221 December 3rd, 2008 6:57 AM

then again...

maybe they are just for ambiance, who knows? ive seen the girl three times in one night first time it was eerie I'll admit but then i was curious about why she was thre and does she have and connection to the room with the two beds that apears to be a child's room? I have read the other posts on this and i find it interesting there may be a backstory to the ghosts of the old chateau. i have not seen the butler yet however. oh and thanks for the tip on gengar wand the room with the eyes. the eye thing was eerie hen i saw it for the first time as well.

Xoo December 6th, 2008 10:11 AM

It'd be interesting to actually talk to them. If you could.

Evilyn December 6th, 2008 11:25 AM

It was around 2 am when I saw the little girl for the first time, I was EV training or something. My face was like O.O when I saw her xD

Peanutz December 6th, 2008 11:37 AM

Yes.

It freaked me out...I found her the first time at like, 9 o' clock at night, and I had the volume turned up the whole way.
The whole finding a ghost in a Pokemon game in the night with freaky music blasting at full volume kinda freaked me out a little. O_o

There's a butler ghost also, in the dining room. I found him rather late at night, too.

Xoo December 6th, 2008 1:31 PM

I can't remember when I saw them. It probably was at night. But it freaked me out. I was like "Whoa, where did those come from?"

Shadow-Lucario December 7th, 2008 4:43 AM

they only pretending to be scared it only for a joke come on only a mess around.

anyway i want to know when and where i can see the 2 ghosts i would really like to see them and have a good scare "sigh" i wish it was halloween again. . .

Dracon9 December 9th, 2008 4:20 PM

Zelda December 9th, 2008 4:21 PM

OMG! I finally saw the girl...she is very creepy!! And to tell u the truth the room u go in to see the girl the room with the bed there is this purple pic, with red eyes...and when u go up by it the red eyes go away!!

Darkrai101 February 8th, 2009 10:32 AM

there has to be something more to them.I know it.wait a miniut..spirtom was traped for eviel deads right?Maby he killed the buttler and the girl?

Pm me ur ideas

OokamiShipper February 8th, 2009 10:44 AM

Uh, wasn't there another thread like this? And someone said you coulda just googled it. xD
I like talking about the ghosts, so I'll post something interesting anyways. BTW, they freaked me out when I first saw them, xD

Um...if you see the girl and the butler at night, then run around like a maniac in the room with the painting, you might be lucky enough to come across a Gengar. And you also need like a GBA game like FireRed or Emerald in the GBA slot. But it's way rare.

Sometimes the ghosts won't appear when you first enter their rooms, so just keep going in and out till they show up.

There are alotta rumors of why there are ghosts. The fire, the poisin, the antidote, the twins. Just google it, and you'll get a lotta hits.

Fusktacular Frizzlee February 8th, 2009 11:17 AM

that little girl is really freaky:bandit:

Shen February 8th, 2009 11:34 AM

I reckon those ghosts were a really cool touch. Sure they have no purpose, but that just adds to the feeling.

Dedalus February 8th, 2009 11:43 AM

Serious question... Can you see them more than once?

I'd thought that I'd just been imagining things, ya 'know? Trying to make the game seem a little more interesting.

Good to know I'm not crazy! XD

OokamiShipper February 8th, 2009 11:45 AM

Yep, sure you can, anytime you want, like I've said before, just keep on going in and out of their rooms, they'll show up soon enough.

I thought I was crazed when I first saw the girl too, xD.

ivanedu February 15th, 2009 1:03 AM

Yeah, in Platinum, there are formes for him. Check Serebii.net for more info. All his stats improved, except Spe, which lowered.

Mystery Soul February 15th, 2009 12:04 PM

I think the 'ghosts' were originally supposed to have their own events in the game, like enter the room and see the girl/butler, then they disappear. Perhaps Nintendo just decided to remove this event and somehow a glitch occured with them.

Giratina ♀ February 15th, 2009 2:23 PM

What would happen if you employed the help of an Action Replay and tried to talk to her? O -O

Fenrir Reki February 15th, 2009 2:57 PM

Chances are, either your game will crash if you try talking to her, or she will walk right through you. I'm not too sure. But the ghosts in the Chateau don't freak me out much. They are just weird.

Dedalus February 15th, 2009 4:06 PM

I tried it, you can't actually talk to her at all, though a weird glitch occurs, and you can't use any doors if you AR through the walls when she's there.

Palamon February 15th, 2009 4:14 PM

Yes I've seen that little girl at least 5 times any time I go to the next room she is gone!

varial295 February 15th, 2009 6:56 PM

please some maka video ofit and snd t to me i wanna see itrealbadive sen the old man or the but:)

Dmatt February 15th, 2009 8:10 PM

There's at least one on youtube , you could see that one

Queen February 15th, 2009 9:14 PM

Lol, ALOT of people are still talking about the ghosts.
And there IS a video on Youtube that shows the ghosts in the Old Chateau, Just search it on Google.
And seriously if you see the little girl for the first time at night... it just freaks you out.
Also you CAN'T talk to her!

Nnoitra Jiruga February 16th, 2009 9:29 AM

Oh yeah. x D
There's also an old man. 8 D
When I saw the little girl I was like "...What just happened?"

xyz702 February 16th, 2009 11:01 AM

I've been in the place alot, trying to "Catch 'em All" but I've never seen the ghosts. I'll mess around with it tonight :D

Shardwire February 16th, 2009 11:05 AM

At first I thought it was a flaw in the guidebook. Then I finally read the paragraph about it. =p

She's not really "scary", just odd. You can see other people too, like in the kitchen sometimes legless men float right past you.

Starom February 16th, 2009 11:08 AM

:O I've never seen that either! Then again, now I have an excuse to faff around in the Old Chateau XD

XEL February 16th, 2009 12:39 PM

Wow. This thing has been goin' on forever but i still have yet to try it out for myself :P

CheeseNinja February 16th, 2009 1:21 PM

this is my personal theory as this happened to me, if someone else has found this please also say so
basically
i went into the mansion saw both of them and then went into the room with the painting of what looks like a dark tree which has two red dots that remind me of eyes on it if you are not in front of it
anyway
i encountered a male Gengar and caught it in the room its actually really good its timid with perfect IVs in sp attack and speed and then directly after i encountered a female Gengar scored a crit hit and it fainted on me and i have never found a Gengar since or seen those two ghosts

has anyone else had this happen to them?

P.S. you said you can only see the girl when you're in the room next to her, so what happens you use walk through walls cheat and talk to her? (I would try but I don't have an AR)

I did it but she leaves after about 2 seconds
Man that place freaks me out.

Darkrai101 February 20th, 2009 1:06 PM

Where is it? Of course they are going to ignore it if it is far back into the posts. Anyways, hopefully they will keep the ghost idea for V Generation.

Adam L'Argent February 20th, 2009 1:35 PM

That just really scared me... I didn't like the girl. It makes me feel upset that some people as young as that die for no good reason.

GGisGood February 20th, 2009 2:38 PM

I always thought it was a Gastly or Haunter casting an illusion to make the girl/butler.
