Upcoming Events Information & Events Discussion Thread

This thread is a resource for anybody looking to get information about the newest upcoming event, whether it be simply a fun day or a Pokémon giveaway. This thread is also to collect all the information necessary on upcoming events so that there aren't a large mass of threads posting about the same upcoming event. This thread will contain as much information as given for a particular event. Information will be kept up in this thread until the event is released, then it will be taken down. If you have any information on new events, please PM myself or DeanoDance. Enjoy!

So anyone see the dragonite event on the website. I can't wait to get it. I never heard of some of these other events.

True Justice October 11th, 2008 3:18 PM

The ID for Dragonite will more than likely be 11088, since Event IDs are now based on date of event. And since the Dragonite event is on 11/08/08, 11=November, 08=Day, and 8=2008.

I don't think there's anymore to it.

I never really noticed that on any of my event pokemon. I'll remember to look for that.

It's actually based only on Events past 3rd Gen. The more recent ones for the NDS have the similarity.

Well my movie shaymin has that. I hope this one will.

Hm...I had this same idea. Great minds think alike.

Great Color, now more info for hacks, lol. Be cautious on what you put on there color. lol.

I agree. Putting this much info on events will only give those low-life scum hackers more chances to be as cool as they want to be (although they will never be as cool as we REAL TRUE trainers.)

Anyway, I may be able to get the TRU Dragonite. I'm going to tell my mom about it tonight so we can make a trip down to Redwood City, CA to get this. I have a few questions, though.

1. Can you get more that one of the event? I mean, if I get one TRU Dragonite, can I get back in line to get another?

2. Is it Mystery Giftable? If it is, then forget the line part to my previous question.

3. Concerning the TCGWC Milotic: Do you think someone could get this for me? I really want one, but I don't live in the area where this is being distributed. I'd really appreciate it if someone got this for me (as in, get one for themselves, then get one for me.)

BlueEew October 11th, 2008 7:33 PM

Well this thread was really needed. I am just hopeing that more events will be here in the UK. I would like around four a year, this seems fair for us. :)

1. Answered in 2.

2. It will probably be given away via Wireless Mystery Gift, since all events past 3rd Gen. have used that method. So it's only one per cartridge.

3. I don't live in Japan, so the question still stands. However, I think you should look into trading for it in the WiFi Trade Corner. You'll probably have more luck there than waiting for someone to give it to you here. But of course, there is a chance of hacks.

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 5:27 AM

I'm putting up all the information that hackers would get just by looking at the Pokemon. It's not like I'm posting their hex code. All this information is easily accessible anyway. Calm down.

Dunsparce October 12th, 2008 6:01 AM

I heard from smogon that only the TCGWC Participants can get the Shiny Milotic. IIRC that's 64 People. Good luck trying to get this event. D:

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 6:11 AM

There were probably only 64 TCGWC Lucarios too. Now look how many there are. They'll get around.

pokemew October 12th, 2008 6:46 AM

so the milotic is always shiny or is t 1 in 8192

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 6:50 AM

It's set shiny, so every one of them will be shiny. First confirmed DS shiny event.

pokemew October 12th, 2008 7:04 AM

oh thats awesome but i cant get it

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 7:49 AM

Sure you can, just trade for it.

pokemew October 12th, 2008 7:54 AM

yeah i guess i can always trade it

King_Lucario October 12th, 2008 8:28 AM

But you see, CME, people won't trade that Milotic because they can use it as a Special Wall or a Special Sweeper; it's too good of a battler to trade up. Besides, I don't want to trade my Events for it.

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 8:30 AM

You don't know Japanese people. They would trade that Milotic in a heartbeat for American events. Trust me, I know that from experience.

People prefer not to train events as well. It loses value if it anything is done to it, or "touched". That's why all of my events just sit in a box. I might try to get a Milotic if a good offer comes up, just like the free Movie Shaymins.

Most people dont train events for battles....they usually leave them UT.

edit: beaten to it...

You could say the exact same thing of the original Saikyou Milotic, but look at how many of those are flying around.

...Something strikes me as odd, though: if we go by the pattern of ID numbers matching release dates, then that Milotic would have been released on September 13, but it wasn't, so...?

But sometimes there's no choice in the matter, like with Celebi or Jirachi.

King_Lucario October 12th, 2008 8:57 AM

Wait. So when was the Milotic released? Because Bulbapedia now states its date to be September 13th. But Bulbapedia has had its flaws, so when WAS it released?

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 9:17 AM

Bulbapedia is false. It hasn't been released yet. Mid-October. So soon.

World King October 12th, 2008 9:45 AM

I hate it when Bulbapedia lies about Events. Like the time it said there was an Event Deoxys that had Aeroblast as an Event move. Thanks for the info, CME.

Which brings me back to my earlier point: if the Milotic is to be released in the near future, then why does the ID number suggest a release date of September 13?

Well, there was a Deoxys with Aeroblast, but the event was later confirmed as a fan made event (HACK).

Zebra Thunderhead October 12th, 2008 10:11 AM

The Milotic's ID was just a guess by someone. It will probably be 10__8. That's my guess.

I'm sure someone will be willing to trade you one of these events for a good enough pokemon.

ddogg1212 October 12th, 2008 11:01 PM

I actually have friends who know when the Milotic is coming out, there's a topic about this Milotic on the site in my sig. with all it's info.

Well. One thing you should do is NEVER use it. You could get a rare pokemon for it if you don't give it anything at all.

Agreed, do not train it. I found it kind of funny when the purpose of the Dragonite is so it is available for level 50 and under battles. But you can't efficiently train for a level 50 battle it without leveling it up (excluding WiFi) or hurting it's event value.

Ezzo! October 14th, 2008 1:53 PM

Yeah, I know I'll offer rare events for UT and UNCLONED TRU Dragonites. I'll offer a lot since I won't be able to go. I have plenty of events. If you plan on going PM me for offers.

KJ October 14th, 2008 8:24 PM

well as i said, this will be my first event, so can anyone tell me how they go and or what to do when i get there?

Dunsparce October 15th, 2008 5:12 AM

This will be my fourth TRU event. I've also gotten:
-MYSTERY Mew
-TRU Manaphy
-ALAMOS Darkrai

I also bump into this same kid at all of the TRU Events I go to.

All you have to do is walk into the Toys R Us' Gamezone or where ever they keep the video games. Make sure you have unlocked Mystery Gift and use the "Recieve from Wireless" Function and a message should pop up saying would you like to dowload the event Pokemon? Select yes and your game will begin to save. Go to any Pokemart, talk to the man in Green and he will give you your Pokemon.

I'm quite enthusiastic about this event. It will be my fourth:
-TRU Manaphy
-ALAMOS Darkrai
-Gamestp Deoxys

Dunsparce October 15th, 2008 1:08 PM

I also forgot to mention I've gotten Gamestop Deoxys and many Pokemon from Pokemon Across America.

Go to the second floor of the Jubilife TV Station and talk to the man in the TV Studio. Enter the phrase "Everyone Happy" and "WiFi Connection". Then, Mystery Gift will be available in the main menu. You should be able to do this the first time you reach Jubilife.

KJ October 15th, 2008 3:55 PM

Jubilife is the third city you travel to in the game (First Twinleaf, then Sandgem). You even get there before you battle the first gym leader. So you'll be set for the event for sure.

Belinda October 16th, 2008 5:28 PM

Thanks very much for the info,I'm really looking forward for it to come out here in the US.

Gerri Shin October 16th, 2008 8:26 PM

this may seem like an odd question but at these TRU events would you still be able to receive the event poke on a foreign card? Like if I walked in with a German or Japanese card would I be able to receive the event like if I had a US card?

Zebra Thunderhead October 17th, 2008 7:06 AM

I'm not sure, but I don't see why you wouldn't. Wouldn't it be rather rude of TRU to discriminate?

KJ October 17th, 2008 1:25 PM

not sure if i should post this here, but i just bought a used diamond from gamestop, saw it had saved data so i decided to check it out, it looks to have one or even a few event pokemon but idk how to tell if they are or not can anyone help me out? i can list em if that would help

Check the PC Event List and compare the details of your Pokemon with the events on the list. Some even have photos to compare with. If they don't match up then they are more than likely hacks.

Zebra Thunderhead October 17th, 2008 1:37 PM

I need to update that list. .-. Thanks for reminding me. Thank God for the weekend.

KJ October 17th, 2008 4:34 PM

ok well alot of these also say the ot is ruby, that mean they were transfered to the game? also i have a torterra(what it says) but the actual name is in japanese. just when i look in my box it says its name above the pic.

The magazine also stated that a special Pokemon Ranger: Shadow of Almia poster will be given out at the Toys R Us event as well. Thanks go to DrewCardUniverse for the news!

Dragonite @ Yache Berry (reduces Ice-type damage)
Level 50
~ Outrage (not normally learned until LV.64)
~ Dragon Dance (not normally learned until LV.53)
~ Thunderbolt
~ Draco Meteor

Since Japan has access to a level 50 Dragonite, it would seem Nintendo of America wanted the same for us as well. Perhaps the Japanese will be allowed to use Dragonite for their Video Game Showdown qualifiers, and we will be allowed too? Why else would we get this specific Pokemon?
I'd also like to re-post this tid-bit I placed into the previous Dragonite news story, since I have not seen many people discuss it. Some of our forum members who were at Worlds heard this information stated by POP officials as well:
The [Pokemon.com] article mentions the Dragonite will be able to be used in "official tournaments," since it fits in the level 50 category now. This seems like a good opportunity to say that at Worlds, I heard from POP officials that America would be having several Pokemon Video Game Showdowns during this current tournament season. I don't remember for sure how many they were planning to hold, but I think they said seven to nine throughout the United States (in different states, obviously). It was also said that the Video Game Showdowns would take place internationally this time too. I'm not sure when this will be revealed to the public, but it looks like Dragonite might be a precursor to an official announcement.

Zebra Thunderhead October 20th, 2008 2:54 PM

We pretty much knew it was going to be the same as the Saikyou Dragonite.

Bludycomicsinc October 20th, 2008 4:34 PM

Japan always has to get the same events as the US. I guess it's so it won't "upset the natural balance" of Japanese events.

It's actually the other way around. America mainly gets its events from Japan. So when the US decides to have an event, they'll pretty much copy the japanese version of the event. The only instance that I can think of that breaks this cycle is the WORLD08 Lucario, which didn't have a Japanese counterpart.

Zebra Thunderhead October 20th, 2008 5:03 PM

Don't forget the NPower Pikachu.

The Australian Darkrai is ALAMOS Darkrai. It is a Pokemon Movie event.

Only one per cartridge. So unless you have more than one Diamond or Pearl, you can only get one Darkrai.

People have used another method to get more than one though. It requires 2 D/P's (preferably one of them is one you don't care about) and 2 DS's. First, get the Pokedex and make your way through the game until you have unlocked Mystery Gift and obtain the Darkrai on the useless cartridge. Then, beat your way through the 1st gym (I think that's the requirement to trade) and trade the Darkrai onto your good cartridge. Then reset your useless cartridge and repeat the process. It's a bit time consuming but at least you get more than one Darkrai.

The poll itself doesn't have any meaning. But the fact that Shaymin is an option and is revealed on an official english Pokemon site is pretty interesting. As for foreshadowing an upcoming Shaymin reveal, I think it is just an accident.

Zebra Thunderhead November 4th, 2008 12:31 PM

Or maybe it was an option just for the Japanese of the world?

Stronkadonk November 4th, 2008 12:41 PM

No, because this is THE ENGLISH WEBSITE. So... yeah.

Zebra Thunderhead November 4th, 2008 1:00 PM

You can't say Shaymin was officially announced as a US Pokemon event yet. Just because it's on an English site, doesn't mean anything. Piplup and Meowth are on there. Does that mean there are Piplup and Meowth events too? That's basically what you're saying about Shaymin.

...What? Neither Piplup nor Meowth had yet to be acknowledged on an official English site. How exactly is that even close?

No one is saying Shaymin has currently been announced as an event. You told Mence Master to move the discussion of Shaymin's English reveal from his old thread (which you closed), to this thread. His old thread never mentioned any event being revealed, it was simply stating that the English Pokemon site has officially/accidentally revealed Shaymin's existance. So I'm not quite sure where you're getting the assumption that we're saying an event is coming out.

Bludycomicsinc November 7th, 2008 3:25 PM

I'm going to toys r us tomorrow to get the dragonite event.

Gerri Shin November 8th, 2008 6:46 AM

I figure I might as well give getting an event a shot today. I wonder if they will let me use my Platinum card to get it?

Stronkadonk November 8th, 2008 6:47 AM

What do you mean?
It's free!

Gerri Shin November 8th, 2008 6:51 AM

I know that, but Platinum hasn't been released in the US yet and neither is there a tentative date for it to be released. so i makes me wonder if the people working at TRU will accept it as a legit card.

Stronkadonk November 8th, 2008 7:01 AM

Oh
Probably
They won't know what it is though
Simplicity =P

Japanese card accepting an English event? I wouldn't count on it working.

The sign at TRU specifically says "English copy of POKEMON DIAMOND or POKEMON PEARL."

While this might be some BS that NOA is pulling off (because NOA refuses to acknowledge the existence of Pokemon Platinum or Shaymin), it probably won't work.

However, I've heard second hand accounts of English carts working at the Movie events for Darkrai and Shaymin.

Well I just got back from the event. Since CME has most of the info already posted, I edited the post with all of the data for those who are trying to get one from the GTS or Wifi Trade Corner.

well I tried it anyway and got the answer straight from the TRU employee guidebook for Nintendo Events.
"All TRU events are for English games only. No foreign cards will work" well I guess I was lucky I had my diamond and Pearl cards there so I was able to get 2 dragonites.

Bludycomicsinc November 8th, 2008 1:18 PM

I just got dragonite. At least it doesn't have that stupid classic ribbon.

Belinda November 8th, 2008 1:21 PM

I've finally got Dragonite it's my first event I've gotten at the exact place. Not trading.

Toushiro319 November 8th, 2008 1:26 PM

I just got my D-nite. =D It only comes in Mild =/ Makes it's Attack lower, but raises Sp. Atk.... Though it does have Draco Meteor and T-Bolt... Which are Sp. Atks... So, I guess it's ok.

Mild raises special attack and lowers physical defense. Neutral affect on physical attack.

Good for choice Specs set.
