Nice job on the Bagonroo one! My fave so far (I thought it said bangaroo for a sec lol)

chanchimi October 11th, 2008 6:48 PM

I really like your Bagonaroo as well! It's very good, especially for your first time! Keep it up and make some more!

Thank you!
I've been experementing with trainer sprites so I might update soon :)

atoms2ashes October 11th, 2008 6:52 PM

pretty good!

I like the Bagonaroo. Clever.

kay3o October 11th, 2008 9:14 PM

Ahh no, don't start out on splices and recolors there horrible.

Start out with edits, or anything.. Please don't get into splices and recolors.
or you'll most likey turn out like most spriters on this forum..

Ravecat October 11th, 2008 9:25 PM

Kay3o is right, you will not learn anything from splicing and recolouring.

Edits are the best way to go.

these are great for your first works!

i actually have to disagree with other people. start with a couple of recolors, so you can understand the technicallities of shading. that was something that you needed to work on. Yes, I know (thanks to our senior recolor hater foxhound) that recolors are not a real difficult form of spriting, but they are still necessary to get teh gist of things. So do a couple of recolors by all means. they will definetely draw negative critisim, but at least you will get the extra practice!

the trainer sprite is not bad, he is just a bit "square". i mean that like he seems too blocky, although i know that you blew him up a bit. but the stripes on his shirt are very rigid like, he seems like he's stiff. and of course, work on the shading!

your doing a great job for a beginner...

Keep Spriting!

wow thanks :), I will do some recolours for practice but I will not post them, I think i'm going to work on a couple more trainer sprites then post them here :)

And yeah i think i'm going to redo the shirt of the sprite.

Mewcario October 13th, 2008 8:38 AM

i rly like those they r pretty cool! ecspecially the piplu/marill one ! ;)

= GPR = October 13th, 2008 8:43 AM

^_^ there ya go! that's using your noodle! if ya have any questions or need help, just pm me.

anyhow, i forgot to say, your fusions are nice... just work on the shading! the bangaroo is a great a idea... just fix em up a bit! piplup/maril needs to have a different face color... the peach doesn't look to good... just work on that and your good!

Keep Spriting!

the bitter end. October 15th, 2008 6:28 PM

They aren't bad, but your splices look like more copy pasting parts than actual splices, you need to work on your blending, I can teach you if you want...

But for a beginner you have a lot of potential, good job...

ForeverRed October 15th, 2008 11:22 PM

hmm nice but i still see part of lucas in that sprite try changing the pants pattern

This was my second trainer sprite xD

= GPR = October 26th, 2008 7:55 AM

why are ya blowing em up? it seems to distort them... just present them regular size! it's hard to tell what is your placement, compared to what the blowing has placed...

Likewise October 26th, 2008 8:24 AM

oh thats because a lot of the sprites i might use for my game and rpg maker xp needs that size so........

master morty October 26th, 2008 11:17 AM

splices aren't usually good. They're better if they're heavy edits. good start though.

= GPR = October 26th, 2008 9:03 PM

hm... i did not know that some games use that big of a trainer sprite...either way, they seem to be distorted still... they are stretched...

Graceful October 27th, 2008 5:41 AM

Keep going!
I was a beginer a couple of weeks ago and I feel totally brill with my self!

I used a friend of mines sprite for his game for a base, (i have permssion)

this is also what i look like withought the hat xD

= GPR = October 27th, 2008 3:59 PM

not bad... but it looks like you cut of the edge of (his) left hand... there's no outline!
again, the stretching makes him look blocky... maybe you shold display both, the original, and the stretched one... i cant figure out what your original lines were...

...ok... disregard most of everything i just said... im sitting far away from the monitor, and he just looked really big cause my computer was in widescreen...i can see him fine now. he actually looks very good, EXCEPT, his hand is cut off, and his shirt's stripping is still very rigid (thats a really bad oxymoron, since stripes are supposed to be rigid...) really it's just the stripe in the front that is rigid, the sleeves are good.

...ok...again disregard what i just said! yikes three edits in a row... i see now he has a zipper hoodie... it makes sense!!! wow!!! im not stupid!!! really, great job on the shading, coloring, and body positioning!

The overworlds don't look half-bad, keep it up, and you'll be better in no time flat!

[NovaPirate] October 27th, 2008 4:33 PM

When resizing make sure to go to Sketch/Skew in the Paint toolbar, enlarge by implements of 100. Besides that note, there's nothing special to comment on.

Likewise October 27th, 2008 5:41 PM

i finished the ow sprite!
