Webmasters Discussion Rules and Posting Guidelines
Webmasters Discussion RulesThese are general rules and regulations regarding the Webmasters forum. As always, Pokémon Community's Rules still apply here. Forum-Specific RulesYou can't post links until you have 15 posts. Permissions don't allow you to post URLs until you make 15 posts around PC. Don't even make a thread for your site unless you have gained the ability to post URLs. Penalty: Locked thread. Advertising of forums and chatrooms is not permitted. While you may talk about forums, forum software, etc., linking to your own forums with the intent of advertising them is not allowed on PC. The ONLY time linking to a forum is permissible is when you are linking to a thread on another forum that is relevant to the topic at hand and not advertising (a tutorial, for instance). Penalty: Link deleted, infraction(s) given. Update: For the time being (until further action is decided), you may post links to forums provided your intent is to get feedback and critique. Advertising will still carry the usual penalty. Your site must have at least some content. If your site is nothing but a forum portal (a couple of news posts and a link to a forum), then don't post it here. It's still indirect advertising. Make sure that you have a fair amount of content before posting a thread for your site. Penalty: Link deleted, thread locked. Common sense, please. Don't post links to sites containing porn, hentai, or illegal materials (ROMs, warez, etc.). It's not permitted anywhere on the community, including here. Penalty: Instant permaban. Selling items or services is not permitted. Self-explanatory. If you have something that you're interested in selling, do so in private. Penalty: Infraction points. Keep your advertising to a fair level. If you recently made a topic about your site, go and check to make sure it's dead. Only make a new thread if the last post in the thread was over 1 week ago and the thread is not on the first page. Penalty: Locking of the new thread. Only the creator of an advertising thread can revive the thread. The community-wide revival rule does not apply in this case. If you prefer to keep only one thread for your site, then you may revive it if it hasn't received a new post in over a month. This only applies if you are the creator of the thread. Penalty: If you're not the thread creator, you'll receive infraction points and the thread will be locked. Do not offer to host someone unless they ask for hosting. Self-explanatory. Penalty:: Possible spam infraction. No "official" threads. Don't make "official" threads, like the "Official Staff Request Thread" or the "Official How to Make a Website Thread" or the "Official PC Website Contest". That's for the section mods and the upper staff to do. However, such things as, for example, the "Official (Your Site Here) Layout Contest" may be posted. Penalty: Thread lockage. Don't make a thread to beg for hosting. Asking for host recommendations is all right (i.e. "Looking at these three hosts, does anyone have any experience with them?"), but don't make a thread begging for someone to host you. Use the Hosting Requests thread for that. Penalty: Locked thread. |
