My parents do laugh at me watching anime, but they do it in a very friendly way. After all, they both like Miyazaki's movies, for example. And my brother watches anime, too, so they don't whine about it that much, more like mock us a friendly way.
Anyway, nowadays they don't say much when I watch anime because the reason I can pronounce Japanese so well is anime. (They don't teach pronuncation where I study Japanese.) They're very proud of me for speaking Japanese, so they can't really say much xD But of course, that's because I never watch dubs. I can't stand English dubs or the way American voice actors pronounce Japanese words. They never get it right. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I'm just so used to the Japanese way of pronouncing, say, "Inuyasha" or "Kagome", that I simply can't switch my mind into thinking "Ka-gou-meh" is the same thing. I watch the Finnish dub of Pokémon, though, but the pronounciation of Finnish is so close to the Japanese one it's not that bad. I'd still rather watch a subbed version. |
