It's not like making a bridge would be harder, in fact it would be easier, but since Wes wanted ship, I'm gonna leave it at that =D

Well there is text bug in pokecenter when i'm going to heal my party and I think that it sholuld be repaired...

I think Wesley used the only DP/BW sprites available at that time.

You are supposed to step between them and script should activate.

You need more Gym Badges if you want your traded Pokemon to obey you. If you want your traded Pokemon to fully obey you even at level 100, you need all eight badges. 1 Badge ~ lvl20, 2 badges ~ lvl30 and so on.

SKRoy September 4th, 2012 5:26 AM

I'm stucked in Dardusk Woods after catching Celebi. Now I have heard that you must use the walk trough walls cheat. I found the cheat with the master code, but when I activate the cheat it doesn't work... What's wrong? This is the cheat:

Ghost(Walk thru walls)

My only experience is with this particular hack, but as far as I'm aware the "extra" slots are between the Johto and Hoenn sections.

Anyways, I've been playing Snake's Final version and I must say I haven't found any bug o.O I'm up to 7th Lauren gym and no bugs (beside the ones I did by using YAPE :D I just wanted to see what's gonna happen :D)
See? XD

I got through all of Lauren without any bugs as I was translating. Not a clue what went wrong for some people. XD

EDIT: Yeah, I forgot, I found one fairy Shinx (that healing one) =D Should I remove it, or should I leave it as an easter egg? :D
Leave it! Fairy shinx is a great easter egg. I love how the randomest things find their way into games... :P

Okay... try this.
Go to previous city, save in Pokémon Center or any other building, and repatch (delete the old ROM and patch the new one and then put the new into the folder with save)

Yeah, me too =D But I loved what YAPE did xD
First, it showed me glitched pokepic of Monozu (the one that Zero gives) and then random freezing on places or black screen instead of wildpokebattle xD
YAPE is awesome xD
Anyways, I forgot to mention that some trainers have black screen before the battle but it's not something important since the battle starts anyways =)

YAPE is awesome xD
So does that mean I was right when I said that the blackscreen you and SP had was caused by YAPE? I had such MASSIVE glitches before I knew better, it flat-out would crash in Central City half the time. XD

Quote:

Ah, that's probably my fault... I think I had to do something small in YAPE to fix the Emboar thing? I don't think I saved but maybe opening it in it was enough... crap, oh well. This is why I was reluctant to touch some things... 1.0 and 1.1 versions should not have that problem. Here's hoping it isn't frequent or gamebreaking. How often did it happen? Which trainers?

I could redo the 1.1 > 1.2 changes more safely if you think it's a big deal.

EDIT: I remember what it was, it was those damn pokedex entries... A-Text won't register the second linebreak properly, so I opened it in YAPE to view them... CRAP.

Mario Famous September 10th, 2012 11:49 AM

After obtaining the 6th badge, I have no idea how to make the 7th gym leader appear in his gym. I looked at the route above the town and all I found was a rival that gave me HM DIVE

I don't know since I probably did not even get to the black screen because I ditched SP's translation xD
But I guess it may be true =)
But... the black screen upon entering wildbattle is probably caused by editing moves, not actual YAPE... since I wasn't having problems until I started to mess with moves =D
First I tried to edit evolutions, no problems, then I tried to change moves (just replacing some :D) and bugs started to appear :D

I think it's not because of YAPE... as I mentioned above, simply opening ROM with YAPE doesn't cause bugs...
If I recall correctly it happened to some other hacks... it's something like Pokémon Trainer Overload xD It has something to do with Pokémon data IIRC :D
Well... it's not something critical as you just can oversped it =D
It may be problem for Android players but noone cares about them xD

You need to give Rayner (who's in Power Plant) Enigma Berry to heal his Electivire and he'll go back to gym.

Because the one I posted a year ago and the one I posted six weeks ago should be perfectly fine.

Cyclone September 11th, 2012 11:15 AM

Ugh. Finally decided to try this out, and almost ready to quit at the first trainer. Why is there a forced four-Pokémon trainer battle including a Pokémon that has a Poison Point right above the first grass patch? Individually, any one or two lower-level Pokémon are beatable, but all together it's too much - especially when a crit. lands for more than half your HP.

Ouch... sorry, my mistake. I mistook 6th leader for the 7th one.
7th one is the Snowice, right?
After you finish Mt. Icestorm's events, you need to go back to the first floor and find her left from the entrance.
Then you must go to the third floor and talk with her again ;) (She will be close to the end)

Yes, you will have it easier to beat the first trainer.
And by the way, no one blocks you from using Bulbasaur to have immunity against Poison Point. ;)

Cyclone September 12th, 2012 6:47 AM

Yeah, but I always start with Fire. And, well, that Charmander is susceptible to Poison Point.

I also thought from the text that it was saying you only got one Pokéball. Only when I checked the menu did I realize that you get five. I do wish the first trainer was some way's ahead, however, so you could explore, but that's me.

BTW, by repercussion I mean a negative consequence.

Cyclone September 12th, 2012 1:39 PM

I decided to give it another go. After finishing Route 401, walked into the Pokémon Center and saw the world map. Am I reading that there are 20 towns?

While scrolling around, made some observations:

- Nice way to blend the Safari Zone into the map (above my head) merging it with the city itself, but separating it.
- "Zhery Champion" shows as 2x2=4 tiles, but in actuality the bottom two tiles do not list the name; rather, they list nothing.
- What's with the Imitari Islands? The path shows to continue, but we can't scroll that high.
- I'm guessing the green blob (highlighted) is the badge check gates? It says Victory Road, but normally you can't access it until after the gates and this one connects Routes 415 and 416.
- At the southern end of the map, next to the nameplate, is a string of several areas. There are no names. What are they?
- Rocavely City is shown to include a patch of land that is not tiled red. My guess is the red pair of tiling needs to move over one unit to the west and Route 502 should be two squares, but I have no idea.
- East of Ironnem City (in the northeast) is a three square area that is unnamed. Does the path continue, and what is it?
- Ricyan City has the same problem as Rocavely, two squares not tiled but named as it.
- Is Lauren Road supposed to be Victory Road for that half of the map? I see it leads to "Lauren Champion" in the southeast corner.
- What is the blue dot between Lauren Road and Route 501?

I listed these simply because it's feedback on what I'm testing out. I know it's probably final beta, and maybe some of the things I pointed out cannot possibly be corrected for some reason or another; I just thought I'd list it. I seem to be good at finding things like this.

Another question. Thief (TM46) is used to get berries from trees. Is it one-time use per tree? And if it regenerates, why was Thief not made an HM for this purpose?

Berries regenerate.
And why Thief isn't made HM? Because there's about 10 TMs that are used outside of battle. So having 17 HM...? Not a good idea.

Do we know offhand any Pokémon that only have a 1% chance of appearing?

Yes, I battled her, then i want into the pokeball factory, and now I can't go anywhere :(

Cyclone September 14th, 2012 8:32 AM

In these two images, I am facing a tile that should be walkable but for some reason has not been flagged as passable.

The grammar in the Pokédex entries needs work still. So far the storyline bits, trainer comments, etc. aren't too bad.

I am at the Feebas appearance area of the storyline. I have used my Pokéballs thinking I can buy more, and now cannot capture the Lv.3 Feebas facing me. Obviously I have to move on without it, but will I be able to capture another later? (EDIT: Never mind, I see I can...I just thought of checking the Pokédex just now and found it's the one to be found in the most places.)

Humorously, one can run away from the Feebas and it vanishes...should be a no-run battle methinks...

Speaking of the Pokédex, nice mix of Pokémon in later areas of those already seen in trainer battles; I look forward to getting a Stunky for some reason among the Fakémon. Glameow appeared to me occasionally on Route 402, and I think it's the strangest looking so far, but I believe it replaces Skitty due to the Fake Out move...am I right? I don't think Meowth learns it that early. (I also just looked it up, and Stunky too; clearly I don't know the Gen. IV Pokémon yet, though the Gen. V stand out having completed the Unova Dex.) However, now that I am looking at the Pokédex, why is Charmander's entry not added to the Dex at 004? And why is Feebas the last entry at 140 when I have Pokémon over that? I thought Oak gave us the National Dex? Cascoon (and eventually Silcoon/Beautifly, but that's it for now, though Wurmple is also missing) at 268, Shinx at 270, Chikorita at 152, and Elekid at 239 should all be appearing...

I've been trying all day to challenge the flamerny gym and I know you have to battle professor Ellie to get into the cave. The only this is I can't find professor Ellie anywhere to battle her. I even went back to the lab where she only repeats the the same dialogue over and over again. One weird thing did happen though because the game did a complete loop where I got to pick my starter again and I had to fight Pearl and Yellow again. I did all the events again but Professor Ellie still won't battle me. Is this a glitch? and does this mean I can't go on? I can't do the walk through walls cheat either because I play on vizzed.com and prefer not to download things on my computer if I don't have to since my laptop is really slow.

It's always better to download the latest beta when you start playing. That way, if you hear of a new build, you can replace it yourself without waiting for the site to update; if you then find a game-stalling glitch that works in the older version, you can swap them back around to get around it then go back to the new version, etc. (Provided the area in question isn't new in the build you have the problem in.)

That's just one example. Let's also assume your Internet dies briefly. You can keep playing locally, not on the site.

You can actually access the hole before needing to go down it. In order to be able to go down it, you have to have defeated the gym leader (I forgot which one, but it was the one that needed you to find Shinx, Snorlax, and Steelix).

Also, I can't seem to find any of the legendary pokemon at the World Champ's. The caves and mountains are empty where they normally should be standing.

Cyclone September 15th, 2012 5:14 PM

So once again I come across a wild Pokémon by script, a Pichu. Of course, I have no balls (no dirty jokes, please). This one is AREA UNKNOWN, meaning I won't see it again? Or am I later able to find a Pikachu/Raichu somewhere, and perhaps breed it?

EDIT: Now in 403. One thing I noticed particularly with 402 and 403 is, when entering the Route (402 from either side), you find people suddenly appearing on the screen as if a magician cast a spell. Also, the presence of Red (nice, BTW) and his Croagunk actually causes a massive slowdown due to too many sprites on the screen in 403. Might it have been better to plop him at the beginning of the Route next to the first funny-looking tree, thus clearing the script immediately and preventing this problem? Sure, you might need additional script markers, but it's better than slowing down the game. The university talking guy (who is the one who magically appears in 403) could be moved further into the Route, then. I see that the funny trees are indeed people events and thus sprites, not landscaping, which is what I believe leads to the slowdown.

Again, this is just IMO.

Have you done everything needed for legendaries to appear?
You need to beat specific characters on specific places to make some legendaries appear.
You can check Wes' page for detailed info.

It's interesting that noone else reported this...
Isn't the problem with your emulator?

No, I do not believe the problem is with a stable release of the most popular emulator out there. After all, Nintendo itself has released games with this type of problem. Remember Super Mario Bros. 3 from 1988? If you ever played that in the original form on the NES (I have numerous times), in World 1-2, at the final pipe spitting out Goombas towards the goal, you can stand and wait for four to come on screen which, coupled with the Paratroopa flying in, slows down everything including Mario as you walk to the goal to get your 1-Up for having five enemies on-screen. This is the effect I'm talking about, the slowdown from too much sprite action for the system to handle. It happens in official games, too. I don't know if it's ever happened in an official Pokémon game, but I haven't seen it until now. I've seen it in other cases in the same game (SMB3) as well.

Oooh, as for the Pichu issue, I know for a fact that you can catch wild Pikachu in the Meadow Zone in the Safari Zone. I've played through the hack before but I can not remember if you can breed Pokemon, and if so, where at the moment. :x As for the Poke Ball issue, one thing I found is that by carrying a Bidoof around with me, thanks to its Pick Up ability I'd occasionally get Ultra Balls.

A Bidoof already found me a Nugget. My first reaction was: "MONEY!"

And if that's true about the Safari Zone, I'd be wise to backtrack and search for Pichu. How common are the Pichus there? I wish we had a list of all Pokémon that can be found; I ought to go looking for that in AdvanceMap.

EDIT: Another bug. The custom (I think) music when entering Route 403 and the music emerging from a battle on Route 403 are not the same piece of music. After a battle, it changes over to a recognizable theme from R/S/E. Not that I have a problem with that theme, just that the music should be the same.

On the contrary, GBA also has a sprite limit. It doesn't always occur; in fact, right now I'm training there without any slowdowns. I think it's when the 402 sprites are registered onscreen at the same time that I have the problem.

After I do a little training at the start of the Route, I'll start working my way through; I did a dry run using save states and found the event halfway through. Once those are cleared, I don't think there will be any further problem.

Using the exact same emulator as you, I played that part before and had no lag whatsoever. I don't even think there are 402 sprites on that area if I'm honest at any one time... But if there is, it hasn't caused lag problems for anyone else as far as we know.

Cyclone September 16th, 2012 2:27 PM

Strange. Well, it happens only occasionally, not constantly...and only right there. It hasn't happened anywhere else in the hack (so far).

BTW, when I say 402 and 403 sprites, cross over from one Route to the other. Briefly, sprites from both maps are onscreen on the same shot. Going far enough into the Route and back removes one until you cross into the other Route again. I think when the 402 one is showing while in 403 it causes the slowdown. After going in a bit it seems to go away, hence why I think having sprites onscreen from both contributes to it.

Apparently you can catch Pichu quite early where you battle Rival Diamond for the first time...to the right of Central City

Actually, that's why I brought it up. I didn't have any balls left. My question is where ELSE can it be found, or Pikachu to later breed perhaps.

I have JUST looked in AdvanceMap. Pikachu appears in the Safari Zone with a 5% chance of showing up. I'm thinking of changing that 4% one to a Pichu on my copy (leaving Pikachu the 1%); the reason for this being that there is no other Pichu noted anywhere that I know of (unless there's another event later, I dunno), and I don't know if there is a breeding center. If there IS a breeding center, then my problem will solve itself and I will just catch Pikachu, but I'm not hanging around the Safari Zone quite yet (I should make a list of catchables however and do some planning, I need water types; also, I already have a Shinx and an Elekid).

EDIT: All right, where did the bad guys come from all of a sudden in the forest? There was no storyline of their appearing, you just return to the hive where the angry Combees were located and suddenly there are grunts hanging around the place...also, do we ever get the Running Shoes? I'm tired of the snail's pace walking.

Cyclone

Satoshi Ookami September 17th, 2012 11:24 AM

Why do you need Pichu so badly? o.O Pichu and evolutions are absolutely uncomparable to any electric evo-line you can encounter (Shinx-line, Tynamo-line, heck, even Elekid-line)
There's no another Pichu event, though.

There was a storyline. You enter the city, Combees are attacking, why are they attacking? Because the bad guys showed up. What do you need more? ;)
Yes, you get Running Shoes soon.
And you still seem to have troubles with speed... Don't tell me... you don't use speed button! o.O

Cyclone September 17th, 2012 11:42 AM

Oh, I wasn't making the storyline connection. So the bad guys are in fact attacking their hive or something. The thing that confuses me is why the bad guys weren't there, then suddenly a moment later they magically appear. Then the Gym Leader claims they are attacking residents, but you can walk throughout the city and there's the guy to the north unfazed by what is happening.

Why do I want Pichu so badly? I'm a completionist; I always go for a full Pokédex. Hence why having no way to buy Pokéballs (I noticed the Pokémart blocked as well in the new city, that's a drag) is currently annoying me; I've left a lot of Pokémon behind. I'll likely be going for the Safari Zone soon to get some more low-level Pokémon to help catch the others along the way; that is, once I can buy Pokéballs for the ones in the main areas. ;) (Granted, some Electric types will never see the light of day again; Blitzle will likely take up residence in my PC, and Shinx too once I have Pichu/Pikachu.)

EDIT:

Do they sell anything normal for this early in the game? Would like a regular old Pokéball here, don't really want to drop $1,200 on a high-powered version, just want to catch some weaker-leveled Pokémon in standard balls...

Cyclone, I'm just warning you, if your already having problems with how this hack is designed you really wont enjoy it at all. Its one of those hacks where you have to be absorbed into the new graphics to enjoy it or realise how bad the plot, character development etc was. Great scripting just a downright bad attempt at a good plot. Also ncs are repetitive like mad don't talk to most of them. You probably will have a ton of pokemon given to you..... If I continue I'll go on to explain the many things completely wrong in this hack. Try to enjoy it it took me 70 parts to do a bilnd LP which happened to be the only LP I did not enjoy recording.

Duly noted, and thank you...yeah, already stumbled upon Starter Gift #3, and already know about the repetitive comments made by NPCs (especially post-battle, Team Steam all seems to have the same manner of speech). With the lack of standard Pokéballs and the large number of hacks available, I might have to flop around again. It's not really enjoyable having to spend all the time grinding for a half hour or hour just to start the game, and having to use all the regular Pokéballs on standard fare Pokémon.

Currently at the Gym and debating whether I really feel like continuing. I was planning to do my first LP attempt (lame as it will be) on a hack I really enjoy. I'm not sure this qualifies.

With that said, I did somehow construct maps of some of the cities and areas in between. They at least show the nice scenery, which it seems was the focus of the hack.

After beating the Lauren League(that's the second region, right?), go to Yellow Town and Ash will give you a ticket to go to the World Championship.
After you do that, you can go around and catch the rest of the legendary Pokemon if you want. If you need any help, like where the legendaries are, go to Wesley's Weebly site.

Given the difficulty of the initial section of the game and feeling I had to use all those Pokéballs early, dangling the only wild Pichu in the game in front of the player after using them (BTW, I had no Ultra Balls or balls of ANY type at that point since they cannot be purchased in Central City, I did later acquire one via Pickup and another lying around) is like teasing a dog by holding a bone just a little too high for them to grab it. Also, without going back to Yellow Town, you can't access the wild Pichu (Route 402 is blocked by a trainer battle, one whom you later battle when you progress).

If you can breed one later, then great, I can do that (can anyone answer this BTW?). I'm going to do the first Gym and see if I can unlock regular Pokéballs at the shop. If not, I might be done with this hack. I can obviously plant Pichu in the grass in 402 if I really want it (seems the same capturable data, Lv.5, Route 402 met, etc.), but not having standard Pokéballs is just going a little far for a hack.

Hmm, I see...so Ultra Balls, Pokéballs, and Great Balls available in that order (the cheap ones around the time the Great Balls normally would be, and Great when the Ultra normally would be). Very strange that the best and most expensive ball is first! The potions would be the most annoying part of the whole thing, but typically I try not to use those even in normal games until I'm in places like the final Gym Battles or the E4.

I'm still undecided on whether I will stop playing. I mean, I can always backtrack later. I just wish I knew regular Pokéballs weren't going to be available before using them all. LMAO

Boring isn't the word I would use. I just hate the thought of having to spend $1,200 on my Pokéballs until finishing the fourth Gym; by that point, it's impossible to weaken the weaker missed Pokémon without killing them. Later on, the Ultra Balls would be needed to catch legendaries and such, so not having regular balls available early in the game and having Ultra Balls available right away basically takes the formula and reverses it somewhat. I can't say I like the way it's reversed.

And I'm saying that even having two Ultra Balls in tow now.

The lack of regular Pokéballs really is the reason I have been hesitant to go forward further. I'd like to keep playing because the graphics are worthy of having maps made (I see them in AdvanceMap too, they cannot be taken from there and are best taken in-game) and my next map to make is in fact Inhore City.

Also, in the new city, I found a four square block on the very east end of the city that cannot be trod upon. That area prevents one from walking around a house next to the Pokémart. Those flags need to be fixed.

Decided to train my Pokémon a bit in the forest and keep playing, at least for now. Noticed the Fire tip for the Gym, but I have a Pidove I plan to use periodically as Gust/Air Cutter (Flying type moves) are useful against Bugs. I should have this Gym euchred with Growlithe, Pidove, and Charmeleon.

While training, a rare Shroomish appeared (confirmed via AdvanceMap, 1% appearance rate in Inhore Woods, didn't check later Routes). Used the first Ultra Ball. Successively stronger ones appeared soon afterwards; I cursed my luck. Also had to run back to Central City when I realized Potions and Antodotes aren't available in Inhore City.

Hey guys, I can't find enigma berry....can someone tell me where it is ??

Cyclone September 22nd, 2012 1:00 PM

Well, completed the first Gym. Being a mapper, I took screenshots all the way through (and have of every area so far). About to embark on Route 404 with my Running Shoes, which I now know come from the guy who blocks the way (Mom? ;) ). Here's a map of the first Gym.

What I find interesting about this, and notable, are the beehives scattered about hanging on the trees. I nearly jumped out of my seat when I realized these honeypots trigger battles with Wild Combee (Lv.8-10 is the general range, I believe). Almost like a built-in way to train against one of the exact Pokémon held by the three junior trainers, and kinda cool actually. The thing that I find interesting is that each hive does not disappear after battles, like I would have expected. Could there have been fewer? Perhaps, but I still think it's a neat idea.

I also noticed you get a preview of the Leader's (Jessica) highest-level Pokémon, the Lv.22 Vespiquen, before you commence battle. Again, a bit different, and takes advantage of the big platforms that Gym Leaders usually stand on.

I had a nice team of birds, firemen, and the occasional lightning rod. Therefore, I was able to get through here in splendid fashion.

EDIT: Well, that euphoria didn't last long.

http://imageshack.us/a/img222/4525/e05.png http://imageshack.us/a/img196/6862/e06.png

As you can see, first I'm hanging out at the top of the tree instead of walking behind it; quickest I've ever climbed a tree. If you try walking behind it, you go over the tiles instead of behind. The second shot next to the tree is related to the four grass patches in the top row next to it; going south, you walk on top of the first patch before going through it in the lower rows. Going north, you seem to still go through it at least going into the top row, or left/right in the row. Just a minor graphical glitch. :)

I'm also secretly wishing the Moomoo Milk house featured an NPC to rest your Pokémon since Gold is dead ahead on the path...but that's me. :)

Oooh. Decided to random-headbutt an NPC tree while wandering around back to Central City (for exercise :P ) and located a Scyther. That deserves an Ultra Ball, I'll say. However, the one in the golden beehive area of Inhore Woods does not work. You can't Cut the twig either.

EDIT: Ooh! Just came across the dual Snorlax on the bridge. Brilliant animating as well. Hate to point out that after the Honey Lady script goes through its process that the woman walks down the path and stalls somewhere on Route 405. She appears absent-minded and just says the same thing she said a moment earlier standing at the bridge, and doesn't seem in a hurry to get back to the city:

If you leave to Route 404 and return to this spot, she's gone, however, like she should be. Also, I haven't uploaded the image of what happens when you speak to the Miltank; it moos and runs around while the text is still on the screen. Wondering how the scripting allows them to run around there, something beyond my understanding at present I'm sure. I did pick up my Lv.10 Miltank, meanwhile...kind of bummed that we're going into Routes against Pokémon in the high teens and I have to hang around Inhore leveling up a cow. Joy. Wish we could produce our own milk from the thing once a day or something, but Nintendo never thought about that (probably for good reason).

Does anyone have a pre-patched english rom I can have? Every time I patch a ruby rom (yes its clean) I get a white screen, save type is 128k. \:
