Glitch Thread

Since the last glitch thread was locked, I was wondering if I could start a new glitch thread for D/P/P? Or has somebody already done that?

Rules:
1. Don't talk about cheating devices{we want to know about true glitches in D/P/P, not ones that you forced with cheat codes}
2. When you post a glitch, say which game(s) it takes place in, and for which version of the game, and if the glitch only occurred during a certain release time(eg; the surfing glitch for D/P) then say the general time of the release {ex; Pokemon Platinum, Japanese Version, First two months. . .}
3. PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE D/P SURFING THROUGH THE ELITE 4 DOOR GLITCH!!!!!(Please do not talk about the D/P surfing through the elite 4 glitch!!!) Do not only talk about the surfing glitch. Before posting anything about it, please check the old thread.
4. DO NOT POST NONSENSICAL GLITCHES(Do not post nonsensical glitches){ex; Cynthia has dittos when I was playing mario!!}
5. No spamming {ex; OMG!! PACHIRISU LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE CHEESE!!![OMG!! Pachirisu looks so much like cheese!!!] ; Where do you get a bicycle in Pokemon Platinum? ; Y0\/ )-(a)(0r$ ar3 $0 |a/\/\!!! ; You guys suck eggs because you cheat. You have no life you [insert insult here]! ; cool! filllllllllleeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr ; etc.}
6. PLEASE KEEP THE THREAD ALIVE(Please keep the thread alive){the last thread was locked because it was 'revived' after a month of no one posting}
*rule number six is optional, but reccomended

~Night

P.S. it'd probably be best if this thread was approved by a moderator before someone posted here, so unless to HAVE to say something, please wait. - Thanks Color Me Evil

I have the best (helpful) glitch ever! I walked into a Pokemon centre and there was the green man, the one that gives you mystery gifts, and he said
""Aiden right? I have some thing for you."
Obtained the Azure Flute!" So yeah, I walk to Spear Pillar and sure enough, it works! so thats it, I have Arceus nicknamed Wonder. Lvl100 after training

Does that really work? I've never heard of such a Glitch and what game does it work with.

Circuit October 31st, 2008 1:29 PM

I don't really know how it worked but it just happened. It happened on Pearl. I had;

Swampert
Torterra
Charizard
Errm well I can't remember the other three because it was soooo long ago but hope that helps =D.

MrsMime October 31st, 2008 3:05 PM

Woah what are the odds of that?!

i was standing in front of the PC and dropped my DS, and the whole screen flashed black and froze, and a loud buzzing was everywhere. My screen said "error, please insert DS card in system" and turned off.

Glitter Stain November 1st, 2008 12:08 PM

Uh, ~Night, can you rewrite the rules to where it includes the proper amount of lowercase letters? I'm finding it really hard to read.

...And why can't we talk about the Surfing Glitch? o.o;

That's not a glitch, that's just a User-Product Disagreement. ]:

That was overly talked about in the old thread{I remember a moderator saying that they would close the thread if it kept being talked about or something like that}, and it says everything in the first post of the old thread anyways. . .

Either you're lying, or someone with Pokesav borrowed your game and gave it back after using a mystery gift.

In areas where youy're followed by NPCs (Cheryl, Riley etc.) if you see any other NPCs that can walk around (entrance to Eterna Forest) those NPCs can walk right over the top of the followers. Try it out with Cherly and the entrance to Eterna Forest.

What do you mean? Can't you always walk over flowers? Could you show a picture of it or something?

~Night

Ripper November 3rd, 2008 12:44 PM

I'm not able to , but I'll draw a little picture...
C = Cheryl
o = Other NPC that walks around (any)
X = Player

------------------------------

o C
X

-----------------------------

If you stand where you are, sometimes the o will walk on top of C.
This is because Cheryl isn't actually solid, rather just an image.

I guess they should have thought of that when the made the game =/

Not sure if this is a glitch, but today I found out that if you go to Spring Path from Route 214, enter Sendoff Spring, exit, and go back to Route 214, the BGM for Route 214 doesn't turn back on. So you can walk around Route 214 in complete silence. Of course, the BGM comes back if you go to Valor Lakefront and go back, or encounter a wild Pokemon on Route 214.

Well I seem to encounter a lot of shinies. And whenever I've been trying to get something (like Mesprit) I find it when I've given up. It also appears wherever I am (like right on top of me). Does the surfing gitch always work? I saw it on the old one and wondered if it always worked.

Exactly how often do you find shinies?

They fixed the surfing glitch a while after they released the first versions Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

I just found out. My surfing glich doesn't work. Oh well. I find some quite often, but more often than the 1/8192 chance of finding one. But no soooo often.

nssfleahedgehog November 6th, 2008 2:40 PM

I take it that none of you care about what I found out.

I'm pretty sure Murkrow is only supposed to appear in Pokemon Pearl *checks strategy guide* Oh, wait, no. You only can find Murkrow in Diamond and Mistrevous in Pearl. That's strange, where did you find Mistrevous?

As simple as I can explain it, the BGM (BackGround Music) disappears from Route 214, if you go there, go to Spring Path/Sendoff Spring, then go back to Route 214.

When you're ready, I have another glitch-like-thing I found.

sanshroo November 9th, 2008 2:15 PM

I have two! (and thanks for the thread.)

The first may just be an overlooking in the programing, but when you use earthquake on a pokemon that used dig the turn before it's suposed to do X2 damage (or something like that), right, but if the pokemon is of the flying type it still does no damage. I'm just like WTF???? it ruined my entire battle.

The second probly isn't testable, but once I was in victory road and a machoke used wakeup slap on my charizard while he was flying and it still did damage.

Zowayix November 9th, 2008 2:39 PM

If the machoke had ability the "no guard", it can still hit flying opponents.
And dig will ALWAYS do zero damage against flying type pkmn, regardless of if they are digging or anything.

sanshroo November 10th, 2008 2:56 PM

wha??? (looking up....) oh, I thought no gard aplied only to the pokemon with the abilty.

but that last part just dosen't make sense. it dosen't mater if you can fly or float or whatever, if your underground and in an earthquake it's going to afect you. That sounds like a mess up on nintendo's part to me.

Bright_Sniper November 10th, 2008 3:11 PM

The type goes before the move's effect so it's the same as using any ground move on a flying type/levitating pokemon.

~Night November 10th, 2008 3:31 PM

I was playing Pokemon Platinum a few days ago and I noticed that if you walk behind buildings or signs, then for a momet you can still see the outline of your sprite(I then tested it in my Diamond version and it was the same there, too)

~Frozen Darkness~ November 11th, 2008 9:35 AM

I got a PKtopia Pikachu with Alert to sounds. It has I think 27-29 Speed IVs though. Shouldn't it have 31?

poddish November 12th, 2008 7:38 PM

well I have a glitch. Sometimes when you're playing the game, the trees sometimes have a vertical line going through them, it happens most outside the place where you fight the 2vs2 trainers by the lake where you catch the lake pokemon.

Another glitch is in my sig.

The tweaking glitch (I don't know how to explain it because it's hard to explain, so google it) I did it twice, one time it caused the next glitch, while the other created a "wall"

If you use the tweaking glitch, the swarming pokemon MAY change for some reason

If you go to sendoff spring, then walk out to spring path then walk to the nearest route, the music won't be playing, and to fix this, either get in a battle, or go to another route/city/town

If you fight the hiker with the onix (at least on the second battle) with your ditto (you NEED to transform into the first pokemon he sends out, if he switches, you beat the second pokemon, and transform into the first one after he resends it out it will still work) and beat him WITH DITTO STILL TRANSFORMED, the ditto will keep the onix's moves, so this might help for breeding, and it is cool to show your friends that you have a legit ditto with moves it shouldn't know WITHOUT CHEATING!!!

*note*
the glitches are in the american diamond and pearl

I've heard of the tweaking glitch{it was mentioned a few times in the old glitch thread}. I tried it a few times, but could never get it to work.

hmm. . .I've never noticed this{probably since I usually play with the sound off}, but I'll try it out.

Okay, if you go to see Mr. Backlot to find out the Pokemon in the Trophy Garden, talk to him from the side instead of in front. After his rambling, the butler says the Pokemon isn't found in the garden, he turns to him, whispers whatever, butler leaves, Mr. Backlot will turn to his front, instead of your character, and says what he says. That's the second glitch I found.:)

Having a certain "second nature" won't tell you it has an IV of 31.

Following your logic, all Pokémon has at least 1 flawless IV.

I saw somewhere on Serebii a list of second natures and wich IV your Pokémon could have, but it appears that they removed it...

Stronkadonk November 23rd, 2008 7:28 AM

Surfing- see below glitch
Tweaking- the English version of surfing. I have obtained Shaymin by this, and for some reason, I couldn't access Newmoon. I think you have to see Cresselia first.
Cloning- Ah yes, good ol' GTS cloning. Much fun. I've cloned lots with this.

Oh, and NO, you didn't get a "glitch" for Arceus. ALTHOUGH I work with a few others, and we all hunt down Arceus & Darkrai/Shaymin shortcuts. We think we MAY have found the Hall of Origin in the Black Abyss.

randomspot555 November 24th, 2008 1:40 PM

The tweaking glitch cannot be used to get to the Hall of Origin. And unlike Newmoon Island and Flower Paradise, where their respective Pokemon are already right there on the island and can be accessed using Walk Through Walls cheat or Tweaking glitch, the Hall of Origin doesn't reveal Arceus unless the Azure Flute is used.

So even if you could get to the Hall of Origin using Walk Through Walls/Tweaking, you still couldn't access Arceus.

And sorry D_R_A, you're either hacking or lying or delusional, maybe all 3. There is no way that anyone could see a Deoxys in the trophy garden without hacking. Tons of people have hacked the game and looked at the coding and all that crap. If something was obtainable either by glitch or legit means, it'd be known by now.

Actually, only 6 characteristics mean your Pokémon can be flawless in a stat. Even then, "Alert to sounds" doesn't mean it's flawless - it just means its Speed IV is its highest, and ends with a 1 or a 6. It probably has 26 (unless you calculated wrong).

Never. I doubt it was an event because There wasn't anything advertised about events. No I think it was a normal glitch. If you don't believe me I can trade it to you.

Silhouette November 28th, 2008 5:33 PM

I'm sure. The Pokemon that appear there are Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Meowth, Chansey, Eevee, Porygon, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Marill, Azurill, Plusle Minun, Castform, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Happiny. Nothing remotely close to a Deoxys.

I was in the GTS, and I was trying to trade a Bronzor. I offered it for a Glameow, I believe. I came back the next night, and the lag was terrible.. I waited and waited. Finally, it showed me my summary screen, and said I had put in a Jumpluff. I was kinda scared (because I had just gotten wireless internet), and I didn't know what to do. So, I took it out, but the lag got me again, and it booted me out. I went back in, and it was a Bronzor again. Kinda wierd.

Bidoofguy November 28th, 2008 6:36 PM

I went on the GTS, and, wanting a munchlax, offered a staryu for it. Boltbeam staryu, in fact. I figured it wouldn't take too long, so I immediately checked staryu's summary, and expected the trade, as it was taking an age to load. It didn't, and I was shown the summary of a growlithe called Staryu. Now, I had seen this happen on GTS before (a Celebi called Palkia, anyone?) but the sprite was usually of the thing they had asked for. I hadn't wanted a growlithe, and didn't even have one in my 'dex...

Anyhoots, I tried to take my starlithe (lol) out, but, lo and behold, the good ol' BSOD appears and kicks me off GTS. It was a staryu again when I went back on, the boltbeaming growlithe was gone...

Also as it happens, I got the munchlax an hour later. It was shiny, japanese, and hatched. I don't think it was legit. :disappoin

yvette November 28th, 2008 6:39 PM

There's a creepy little block of white in the top left hand corner of the menu whenever I'm on the GTS. Oh, and I lost a Pokemon to the GTS once. I put it up for trade, and when I came back all it said was 'SUMMARY'. And it really was gone, not like when it says summary and your Pokemon is still actually there.

I want my Clefairy back!

Even if you trade it to someone, it doesn't means it's legit.

My friend used to do Mystery Gift a lot on Silver with Pokémon Stadium 2. Then I tought it was a glitch when I played again. A while after he told me about it.

Maybe someone used AR on your game without you knowing to make the guy appear.

nssfleahedgehog November 29th, 2008 12:04 PM

I've seen weird stuff on the GTS too. I'll look up a Pokemon and there will be one with the sprite and name of a different Pokemon, but it will say it is the species I looked up (ex. I look up Rayquaza, one there will have Deoxys' sprite, be named "Deoxys," but will still be a Rayquaza). Fortunately, I've had no problems like this happen to myself.

Changing the subject, I've found a spriting glitch in the game, so if anyone wants to hear it, let me know.

Silhouette November 29th, 2008 1:50 PM

*Sigh* Must we really ask? What happened?

Circuit November 29th, 2008 1:59 PM

It is true. I swear it wasn't a cheat. He said Deoxys. it must be a glitch because there is no other thing it could be.

Silhouette November 29th, 2008 2:04 PM

Hmm..>_>

Yeah, my Phione, when I tried to clone it (via GTS) forgot Surf (it had originally known it [Freakin' GTS]).

There are two reasons why I wont let you trade it to me:
One; Sometimes glitches can harm your game >.<
Two; If it is hacked, then it will disable trading pokemon in my game )=

Don't trade it to anyone because sometimes when a hacked pokemon is traded to your game trading pokemon is disabled for that person.

Oh hey. This glitch i know is a sound giltch, I don't think anyone posted this glitch yet becuase I checked the old thread, but here goes: If u ride a bike and dash back and forth in spring path and the route outside, u won't hear any sound. after u go to a new route, The sound is back. If someone doesn't get on what I'm saying then I will reply back. This glitch is kinda easy but hard to explain.

Yeah, there's a video of it on YouTube somewhere.

You must start at Sendoff Spring, and go out into Spring Path. Then just go to the main route, go in a way, go back off, and come back on, and it should work.

Anyone ever hear of the "Gotcha!" glitch?
It involves yelling GOTCHA! Into the microphone right when the pokeball opens up. It is rumored to have the effects of a Master Ball, but it doesn't ALWAYS work, but it does seem to increase my catch rate usually.

That's the first glitch I mentioned, and you don't need to be riding the bicycle to have it work.

That doesn't sound like a glitch. How could the programmers accidently program that into the game? If it actually works (and isn't just a coincidence that you catch the Pokemon when you yell that into the microphone) how could that be programmed without the programmers' knowledge?

Anyway, the spriting glitch I found in the game is that the sprite for the Defog HM is colored like a Water-type TM/HM, not a Flying-type TM/HM like Fly.

S.Bustathedog November 30th, 2008 12:49 PM

I haven't come across one yet but I might have but i was tired but here is what happened:

So you can walk around Route 214 in complete silence. Of course, the BGM comes back if you go to Valor Lakefront and go back, or encounter a wild Pokemon on Route 214.

oh sorry. I didn't find that here until now. sorry Nssfleaheadgehog. I didn't know.

I read somewhere about a "Transform Glitch" only working on Japanese versions of D/P that allow you to put any moveset onto a Ditto, and therefore teach any pokemon any (potentially illegal) set of egg moves (like Belly Drum + Aqua Jet Azumarill).
I've already read about the Ditto Glitch in Jap D/P allowing you to duplicate items, but can someone tell me how do to this "Transform Glitch"?

I've heard of it but never found out more about it...

But further into tweaking. In the void, someone managed to find the REAL Turnback Cave, well, one room of it, and I'm not sure which one it was. But this means that separate areas CAN be found, meaning the Hall might be reachable... BUT we need someone to use an Azure Flute game cheat, go up to Spear Pillar, activate the Flute, then use walk anywhere to go off the map, into the Mystery Zone, and back to see if the Hall is still loaded.
Please help us by doing so if you are willing.

The affects of a Master ball but doesn't always work? That doesn't make any sense, so I highly doubt that's a real glitch.

What??? So it used surf on itself or did it use surf on your other pokemon in a double battle??? Or did it do something else??? (sorry, but I'm really confused about what you just said!)

Silhouette December 5th, 2008 1:07 PM

I think what Night means is that hacked Pokemon cannot be traded with the DS. I migrated a Deoxys and Suicune to my Diamond Version that were originally obtained on Emerald via Game Shark. The game said 'This Pokemon cannot be traded at this time," when I went to trade it through the GTS. However, it didn't affect my trading abilities with Legit Pokés. It may not be the case, but merely a thought.

Sorry for my lack of memory..

There is a little tile error thing in D/P that may not be a glitch. In Survival Area at the north at night, look carefully at a montain corner and the grass looks lighter (only a bit) than the rest of the grass... It isn't very noticeable but worth a mention.

I believe it also happened in VERY early versions of the Japanese games.

I haven't seen that before. I'll go look.

The buneary fused with the girl usually only happens when you cheat

Hacked Pokemon certainly can be traded in the 4th gen, and outside of PBR and the GTS, nothing automatically stops it. And even on PBR/GTS, many hacks make it past because the scope it checks is fairly limited.

The GTS only checks for IVs (it'll reject any Pokemon with 31 IVs in all stats) and EV distribution (reject any Pokemon with more than 512 EVs). It does not check stuff like Poke ball, event info, moves, ability, levels, etc...

You are right in that it displays that exact same message.

The PBR Wi-Fi has a hack detector similar to the GTS, except it might transform these hacks into Bad Eggs. PBR Wi-Fi may periodically reject other versions of hacks (those with illegal moves, ability, etc...), but it's not designed to and is pure chance because it sometimes rejects 100% legit Pokemon.

So no, if you accidentally trade/receive a hack from the GTS, you won't get "Banned" from it. It's just probably busy. Try again in a couple hours.

This wouldn't be a glitch; this would be a rumor. This is the Pokemon DS's version of Pokemon GBA games' "A+B+DOWN" (i.e.) rumor. According to the "Gotcha!" rumor, if you were to say Gotcha! into the DS's microphone, it wouldn't give the Pokeball Masterball attributes, it would just increase the catch rate. My friend thinks this really works but I don't.

You need 2 GBA Pokémon games. One with the Pokémon you want to migrate, the other just spare.
First, migrate the Pokémon you want. Then, set the DS clock a day forwards. Put in the second game, and try to migrate. It will ask you to synch the DS and D/P clocks. Accept. It will then reset to the title screen. Switch the DS off and put in the first GBA game. It will let you migrate again. Repeat as needed.

has anyone checked this? Other people have also seen it too, and to make sure, I used a European one. I think it is visible on all.

Stronkadonk December 18th, 2008 12:41 PM

Well, when you get the Manaphy Egg from the green guy, it is still not preset. You must go to a Pokémon Center, and trade in the Union Room to your other game. Save after leaving the room, and then hatch it. If it is not shiny (Because it is programmed to be non-shiny at birth, but the game checks the OT of the Egg, not the current trainer, so that way it can still be shiny) then trade back over, save in the original trainer's game, and reset the other game. Make your way to the Pokémon Center (You may need 2 Pokemon, not just your starter) and trade again. Repeat until it is shiny.

I really doubt the authencity of this glitch because a shiny Manaphy will be programmed to be shiny once it's hacked.
