Current computer has an old-skool ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 128mb. (That's before they even became part of AMD.) The laptop which I've just ordered will have a Nvidia 8400m. Which... Isn't really all that much better. Oh well. Was worth it for the 13.3" form factor.

mewthree w/armor November 1st, 2008 7:42 PM

Geforce 8000 GTS (G80) 640MB video card.

Alex_ November 2nd, 2008 12:35 AM

In my Macbook Pro I have a NVIDIA Geforce 9400M.

ATI Mobility Radeon X300, 128MB.
Times have moved on since, but it's still a very reliable video card laptop version of a video card.

Given the rendering problems and glitches I've seen and read about with nVidia cards, namely about games I play, I'll be sticking with ATI kthxbai.

Ben Kenobi November 3rd, 2008 3:13 PM

ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series 128 MB video card. Would upgrade, but this isn't my computer to mess around with.

Obito. November 6th, 2008 10:03 AM

NVIDIA 8800GT 512 MB

Aegis November 6th, 2008 11:49 AM

Let's see... In my desktop I have a nVidia 9800GT, which is just amazing <333 I have a 24" monitor, and damn, everything is so breathtaking on it XD On my laptop I have a nVidia GeForce Go 6150 which... leaves a lot to be desired :x

Chibi-chan November 6th, 2008 1:20 PM

I have a Nvidia Geforce go 6150 on my laptop...
I dunno, I don't really like it. I don't know much about graphic cards [email protected][email protected];

Anyone know some top tier laptop graphics cards?

Nick November 6th, 2008 10:28 PM

For what I use my computer for, it's pretty much really basic: RADEON X300/X550
That's all I really believe I need so I'm not too keen on updating my graphic card anytime soon.

DarkNido November 7th, 2008 3:15 PM

My pc has a nvidia GeForce 8600 GT.

Gabri November 7th, 2008 3:19 PM

I've got an ATI Radeon 9600Pro. 256MB :D

It's enough to play some games I want, like CoD4 or PES2009.

prolific_rhapsody November 7th, 2008 6:21 PM

Well, mine in my desktop is like an Intel 850 or something. ANCIENT, and doesn't even have shader capabilities. And, it's INTEGRATED! AH! XD. But, I paid $129 for my desktop, so I can't complain too much... Because it's very up to date on all the rest of its specs. In my Macbook though, I've got the Intel X3100. Still pretty much a piece of crap.

There go my dreams of ever playing Crysis on my computers... Hahah.

Cherrim November 10th, 2008 11:13 AM

I got the best one I could in this configured laptop and it's still pretty bad. :[ Can't even play Portal baaaaaw. It's a GeForce Go 7200. I was looking into replacing it but now I'm probably just going to end up going for a new laptop altogether; this is falling apart.

bgt November 10th, 2008 4:08 PM

Nvidia 8600 GT.

I don't game on PC so it really doesn't matter much.

I'm more or less a console person.

liketoys0000 November 11th, 2008 10:58 PM

Stuart444 November 17th, 2008 6:35 AM

If you're speaking in earnest that board hardly "sucks".

Me, I've got a 512MB G-DDR 3 GeForce 8600 GTS (never overclocked once) that decided to hit the hay back in April of this year (I bought the board in June of 2007, and its vendor is XFX), quickly reaching 100°C for no reason (though, the fan did become rather boisterous even since June, but then as it reached 80°C it would cool down with the temperature) and then abounding me in frame buffer and frame-rate issues (and eventually, blue screens). Since then I've been saving up money by job hunting, for the sake a new computer to wipe the slate clean. I know many clamored that the 8600's were a "joke" but considering what I had before (a ATi Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB DDR, supporting Shader Model 2.0 at best) it was quite the augmentation (3x-10x+ faster and with Shader Model 4.0 support to boot). Its high amount of shader operations and high shader clocks gave it, the 8600 GT, and the 9500 GT allowance to perform on tantamount ground with older generation high-end boards like the 7900 GTX. It's only in traditionally pixel and texture-operation bounded games (like DOOM 3 engine games) where the 8600 GTS is only more or less on par with a 7800 GT, the 8600 GT scantily keeping up with a 7600 GT.

Nevertheless, more modern boards like ATi/AMD's Radeon HD 4830, 4850, 4870, and nVidia's GeForce GTX 260, 280, and what not outstrip my defunct board (even if it wasn't defunct, apparently) by quite an abashing amount, especially in SLI/Crossfire, and hopefully, 3-Way, Quad SLI, Triple Crossfire, and other new dual-GPU methods will finally reach the capacity they have for greatness once the kinks are worked out.
